You want something closer to real Mexican and not so much Tex-Mex? This is the place. Good for breakfast lunch and dinner with nice portions and a great selection. Only d down side for me is they don't have fountain drinks and only canned or bottled sodas. read more

USED TO BE GREAT. BUT NOW THEIR SERVICE SUCKS. Their food is great and this used to be a favorite. But the owners' daughter (who is not happy at all working there) is now working there and she expresses her unhappiness with hispanic customers. If you are white , she will smile and treat you ok, if you are Hispanic , you are better off going somewhere else. read more

DiCaprio in a Synagogue: try Tacos Del JewishLeo A tough, popular older kid in Never Neverland: try Tacos Del Rufio. A very overrated actress: try Tacos Del Juliaroberts. Hipsters obsessed with squishing oranges in a machine: Tacos Del Juicing-doe. But if you want Monterrey/Nuevo Leon food in Katy, it has to be TDJ. What to get: Trompo anything, try the dark red sauce (Chipotle style). What else: The Campechana is my fave thing on the menu. Anything else: Enchiladas great, Tacos great, Soups, you name it, it's great. Houston is quietly the best city for authentic Mexican food outside Mexico. Los Angeles and San Diego can claim these things too, as well as a few other spots, but Houston just has more, and it's far less heralded I'd say. Utterly delicious stuff over here. TDJ is a local chain, we've been to several of them now and none of them disappoint. Always hearty, always hefty, always delicious, always well worth the trip. I stopped by for breakfast. I was in the area and walked over because I saw a sign for breakfast tacos. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. I didn't get any ordinary breakfast tacos. I ended up getting a meat egg and potato breakfast tray. It was enough for two people. I can't wait to go back. The service was fast. The seating has booths tables and inside and outside. read more

Second time to stop by here for street tacos. Again, they did not disappoint. Food served fast and fresh. Great value for the amount of food served. Amazing green sauce!! Orange sauce has a kick!! Pro: trompo flavor is super good. Salsa green and red super authentic. Cons: very very very stingy with their meat. No need for two corn tortillas, bc theres not enough meat to hold. Not gonna lie. I'm a total doof, but nothings changed...so at least I'm consistent! Went for a workout at PF. After dropping some small amount of sweat I'm heading home and my brain says to me "dude there's a taco joint in there. It looks kinda new. You could use a taco bro!" So naturally I agree. I ordered a steak taco. The brought out some complimentary bean soup which was Yum AF. And they had a couple hot sauces. I put the red one in my soup and taco. This was really good. Dined in a couple of weeks ago. We opted for the chips and salsa as an appetizer to wait for the food. The salsa tasted fresh. The chips could of been less stale. But now for the good part - the tacos. Absolutely the best tacos I've had in a while. The green sauce is the perfect pairing. The Mexican horchata was sweet to perfection. The ambiance is what you expect with a place that has "express" in the name. Almost a hole in the wall type ambiance. I will say the service was quick. The only downside is that the AC was not working the day we dined in so some people made the decision to eat outside instead of dining inside. I really do wish they would expand to Pearland. Best Mexican food in Katy, TX. Their breakfast is the best I've ever had. And this is coming from a big Mexican guy. I've had Mexican breakfast in tons of restaurants in Houston, San Antonio, RGV, and even Mexico and nothing compares. So delicious! Was in the mood for some Mexican food. I purchased two street tacos and some soup. The street tacos were small but pretty tasty. As for the soup it was ok until I found a long hair in the soup. Yes, I should have taken a pic but didn't. As for the soup most of it was liquid and lacked protein. Furthermore, my order was $20, pretty expensive, "my opinion". read more

We came in here hungover and hungry and got a bit of everything on the menu. The trompo tacos were so tender and flavorful, the tamarind margarita was perfect. Not too sweet which is rare in a frozen marg! Flautas were some of the best I've had and the pozole had the right amount of spice. I'm sure the 15 lime wedges we squeezed in helped too. I probably wouldn't go back. It wasn't horrible but definitely not anywhere near fighting for. The people there seem very unhappy to be there or alive. They were not rude but certainly not helpful or going to go out the way. I got a chorizo breakfast taco. Everything was just kind of carelessly thrown together. The egg was supposed to be scrambled. Its a chopped up dried out egg. Chorizo dry. But their sauce is good and I threw that on it and kept pushing never to return. read more

Had the one on westhiemer in Houston a week ago. Their quality control is on point. The trompo especiales were just as good, the charro beans were on point. My mom got the enchiladas del Julio and they taste just like they do in Matamoros/Brownsville. The horchata was decent as well. I'm surprised by how authentic this place is. Food was GREAT!!!! Service not so great when I walked in to pick up my moblie order workers were talking for ATLEAST 10 minutes , finally came up to me and asked me what can he help me with , with an attitude. Told them I placed an order on DoorDash , the worker later on said "no you didn't" ... like okay ? When I indeed did place an order , he then says "oh yes I see" then tells me I have to wait another 10 minutes because the food wasn't ready yet. Meanwhile, there were still no tortillas, rice, or beans in sight. No drink refills, no updates, and barely any service during the entire wait. After another long stretch of waiting, we finally asked the server what was happening, only for her to return and tell us the kitchen was closing and they no longer had tortillas, rice, or beans available. At that point, after nearly 1.5 hours, we walked out with nothing but a to-go box of fajita meat. To the manager's credit, they removed the appetizer and fajita charges from the bill, but the experience itself left such a bad taste that it completely overshadowed the gesture.
