It's not good and it's not bad ... it's meh... the trompo tacos are not as exciting as everyone make it seem. It's a walk up and order then sit. ( like torchy tacos ) the young girl is nice but her smile is very forced. The older lady is your server. The highlight was the Limonade made fresh. Was a little musty, the ac is broken. i think - so they use a spot cooler which is alright but not exactly comfortable. Nice enough to make you want to eat (quickly) and move on . Place could have a lot of potential if they would just find a way to adapt. Once you order .. that's is the most you will make contact with the staff. Drink Refill.... Nope . Purchase another. No fountain drinks. My advice ... pass... there are better options out there. But..... if you just need to sit, eat and be on your way. Well you found your space.

KATY, TX 77494 / MEXICAN TACOS / 12-26-23 / TAKEOUT DINNER +The takeout packaging was neat and nice. +The trompo (beef) tacos had a lot of depth in flavor. +The meal comes with charro beans, Mexican cheese, avocado slices, onions, and cilantro. +The cashier, Celeste, was very friendly and courteous. -The trompo and pastor meats were a bit salty. -The green and red salsas had a good amount of salt, too. What we ordered: 1 order of tacos al pastor $12.27 1 order of tacos trompo $7.49 Taco Tuesday Special BOGO 50% off Total: $21.39 post-tax

You want something closer to real Mexican and not so much Tex-Mex? This is the place. Good for breakfast lunch and dinner with nice portions and a great selection. Only d down side for me is they don't have fountain drinks and only canned or bottled sodas.

If you're looking for: Love songs: try Tacos Del Julio Iglesias. Bad songs: try Tacos Del Jewel. Sci Fi stories: try Tacos Del Jules Verne. Robin Williams: try Tacos Del Jumanji. DiCaprio in a Synagogue: try Tacos Del JewishLeo A tough, popular older kid in Never Neverland: try Tacos Del Rufio. A very overrated actress: try Tacos Del Juliaroberts. Hipsters obsessed with squishing oranges in a machine: Tacos Del Juicing-doe. But if you want Monterrey/Nuevo Leon food in Katy, it has to be TDJ. What to get: Trompo anything, try the dark red sauce (Chipotle style). What else: The Campechana is my fave thing on the menu. Anything else: Enchiladas great, Tacos great, Soups, you name it, it's great. Houston is quietly the best city for authentic Mexican food outside Mexico. Los Angeles and San Diego can claim these things too, as well as a few other spots, but Houston just has more, and it's far less heralded I'd say. Utterly delicious stuff over here. TDJ is a local chain, we've been to several of them now and none of them disappoint. Always hearty, always hefty, always delicious, always well worth the trip. It's not in my top 10 in Houston but that's more of a testament to how many insanely good Mexican places there are in town, rather than anything about the wonderful cuisine at TDJ. And if you're looking for: Sleeveless shirts: try Tanktops Del Julio. Athletes: try Track&field Del Julio. Spiders: try Tarantulas Del Julio. Rap slang for what u wanna do to Channing "Umm..." Tatum: try Tap That Del Julio. Useful plugs: try Tampons Del Julio. Untouchable Mafia Bosses: try Teflon Don Del Julio. Or sex for 9 hours with Sting: try Tantric Del Julio. But if you want real Mexican food, look no further.

Do you like real Mexican food? Cause this place is legit. I went yesterday and I'm still thinking about their food. 10/10.

Second time to stop by here for street tacos. Again, they did not disappoint. Food served fast and fresh. Great value for the amount of food served. Amazing green sauce!! Orange sauce has a kick!! I'll be back. P.S. They serve a small bowl of beans while you wait for your food that are fantastic!! I could make those a meal!!

    Trompo and bistec

Pro: trompo flavor is super good. Salsa green and red super authentic. Cons: very very very stingy with their meat. No need for two corn tortillas, bc theres not enough meat to hold. Just needed one tortilla. Beans should have been cooked longer. Service from the young guy came with an attitude, he was texting on his phone while taking our order.

The service is very slow. The food preparers spend way too much time chatting with each other and on the phone instead of preparing the orders. The tacos were huge and very good

Not gonna lie. I'm a total doof, but nothings changed...so at least I'm consistent! Went for a workout at PF. After dropping some small amount of sweat I'm heading home and my brain says to me "dude there's a taco joint in there. It looks kinda new. You could use a taco bro!" So naturally I agree. I ordered a steak taco. The brought out some complimentary bean soup which was Yum AF. And they had a couple hot sauces. I put the red one in my soup and taco. This was really good. I'm not sure if I was just hungry post workout and ignored the cardinal rule. But my brain is strong, and it has powers I have no concept of. Ok...I'll need to come back to see. For now...

Dined in a couple of weeks ago. We opted for the chips and salsa as an appetizer to wait for the food. The salsa tasted fresh. The chips could of been less stale. But now for the good part - the tacos. Absolutely the best tacos I've had in a while. The green sauce is the perfect pairing. The Mexican horchata was sweet to perfection. The ambiance is what you expect with a place that has "express" in the name. Almost a hole in the wall type ambiance. I will say the service was quick. The only downside is that the AC was not working the day we dined in so some people made the decision to eat outside instead of dining inside. I really do wish they would expand to Pearland. We are missing something of this caliber in that area.

Good tacos !! The servers and the logo news a big smile. !

Nothing exceptional and highly overpriced for quality AND quantity. We went with friends and it just wasn't worth it.

After living in Houston for…read more15 years and dining all over the city, this was by far the most disappointing restaurant experience we've had. What made it even more frustrating is that we've been to the Cypress location many times, and every single visit there has been exceptional -- great food, great service, and consistently enjoyable. Unfortunately, the La Centerra location was the complete opposite. We waited over an hour for our food, only to receive the wrong appetizer. The fajita plate arrived cold and without rice, beans, or tortillas. We sent both dishes back. The replacement appetizer -- ceviche tostadas -- finally arrived, but it was overloaded with lemon to the point of being unbearably sour. Meanwhile, there were still no tortillas, rice, or beans in sight. No drink refills, no updates, and barely any service during the entire wait. After another long stretch of waiting, we finally asked the server what was happening, only for her to return and tell us the kitchen was closing and they no longer had tortillas, rice, or beans available. At that point, after nearly 1.5 hours, we walked out with nothing but a to-go box of fajita meat. To the manager's credit, they removed the appetizer and fajita charges from the bill, but the experience itself left such a bad taste that it completely overshadowed the gesture. Extremely disappointing, especially compared to the excellent standards we've experienced at the Cypress location. Sadly, we will not be returning to this location.
