Service isn't too welcoming , especially if you haven't been there before and they feel like you're wasting their time. It's like a normal Mexican style restaurant lots of decor showing beautiful history which I love. I ordered the Burrito Crispy wait about 15-20 minutes , really really good! Nice crunch and very fulfilling. I'd say it was worth the price a wait for sure and it comes with 2 salsas just your standard green and red. If your on a time crunch like I was (I was on lunch) you are able to call and preorder! Only deduct a point due to customer service. Overall I definitely would recommend this for anyone. read more

I went there on March 1, 2025 the service was really bad, I ordered some alpastor tacos and tripa. One do the tacos had 2 huge rocks. w When I told the cashier she stated that there was a sign at the counter advising customers about the possibility of finding rocks due to the cows diet. This happens because the meat is no clean, how can you explain that you wash the meat and still find a foreign object inside? How can you cut the tripa washed and still have rocks in it ?? Will never go back. DO not recommend this place. I have proof that the rocks were big enough and were chocking hazard or can cause damage to the mouth/theeth. read more

Great place with great service and great food! The workers are always nice and welcoming! My favorite thing to get here are the flautas. Good amount of food for the price and it is super delicious. My second favorite would be the birria tacos! The horchata here is super delicious too. They've recently started giving out complimentary chips and salsa and I really love their salsa. Such a good environment but the only I mean the only reason I'm doing 4 stars is because it takes 15-20 minutes for my food at any time even when there is no one there. Also I'm most of the time the only African American there and I see everyone else get there food long before me I never discriminated at anytime so their food and atmosphere is wonderful I just don't know why I'm always the last person to get food and I'm only ordering tacos. I hate to play the race card but I honestly felt discriminated eating here. The restaurant was full with Hispanics except me and my wife. Every table had chips except for us, so after being very patient, asked the waitress for it and she said yes. Never came out as more tables came in and got theirs. Service for us was terribly slow too where tables that came after us got their food before us. Never coming back here again. Service is pure terrible if you're not Hispanic. Smdh read more

I wish I was a little bit taller I wish I was La Bala Houston has some of the best Mexican food anywhere in the world outside Mexico, and La Bala (Bellaire) is one of the very best examples of that. However, this location falls short. I was gonna say that there's a reason a lot of the customers are a little curvy, but that would be Bala the belt. Not as spectacular as the location in Houston itself on Bellaire or some of the others and seems to be run extremely differently with table service and slightly different products and definitely lower standards. We also had to wait forever to get served and have our order taken and get the check. If you want to be a Bala-rina, probably best not to eat here too often. Despite all of this it is pretty good and it is authentic food and if the one on Bellaire is five stars, this is more like two, but the one on Bellaire is about 500 stars in reality so this one can just about get four compared to some of the really bad fake Mexican around these parts. Just don't come here in a Bala-clava. You'll get shot. read more

They have them all over Houston. the Tacos are AMAZINGGGGGGG! 10 across the board , you can choose all kinds of proteins for your tacos, tortas, quesadillas, and sopes. - fajita - pollo - desebrada - barbacoa - nopalitos - chicharrón They have all over your other typical Mexican plates along with menudo, pozole and caldo de camarón. The salsa is so good. They have a red salsa that is SUPER spicy. I wanna say it's made from Chile the árbol so the spice is really no joke but SO GOOD. The green salsa is creamy, also very good but not nearly as spicy. You order at the counter/window if you're ordering to go. Otherwise, you can usually seat yourself if you're dining in. Customer service is great here. Patient & answer all questions for us Gringos...wait...well, inexperienced Mexicans! Had many errands to run, so got the order to go. Made it home and looked at my order. I decided to get the shrimp quesadilla and fajita nachos. I would have to say I was disappointed with the nacho chips of my nachos. I don't know what I was expecting, as if the magical nacho fairy was going to make special nachos for this particular establishment! Once getting over the shock of not having special nacho chips, I decided to taste them. Okay item. Fajita meat was seasoned well, so I was good to go...until my kids got a hold of them, and then they were as good as gone! The shrimp quesadilla was true to name and was properly sized and properly stuffed. I enjoyed this concoction, but wish I would have asked for salsa and sour cream to go with it, because I know it would have been an excellent blend. I was given to sauces to go with my meal, green and red. They warned me that the red sauce was hot. I tried the green sauce, and that was hot too! No way in heck and I trying the red sauce! All in all, I enjoyed the meal. I will go back because they have some meat spinning device with some meat called "trompo" that I wish to try. I have no idea what a "trompo" is, but I know I want it, especially since its picture is on the front of the building and on their to go menu. I wanted to cheat. Yes, that's right. I'm on WeightWatchers and I wanted something naughty and delicious that I wouldn't regret. So... TACOS, it is! Spicy, flavorful red and green salsas on the table. Crisp, warm tortilla chips that aren't too salty begin your meal. It helps to speak Spanish. But if you don't, it's okay, the extremely polite waitress will give you a menu with English on the other side. I recommend the Trompo taco on either corn or flour tortillas. I would give another star to make it a perfect 5 star review, but having lived in Mexico, I have had exquisite tortillas that are buttery, flaky and perfect. I think the tacos are just ok! I've tried the barbacoa, trompo, pork and apparently the cactus which I was told was pork. The tacos used to be $1.45 but they raised em up a bit to $1.75 (corn)...I guess! I'm a big fan of the mexican coke, get it! In regards to the tacos, the barbacoa isn't the best. It's acceptable. I found the trompo to be hard and crispy. It's not for me. I asked the lady what the conchinta (I think that's how u spell it) was. She told me it was pork. So when I got it, I took a bite and it didn't feel like meat. As I was picking at it, a gentleman came over and asked if everything was ok! He told me it was cactus....what the fugg? Gross!
