Whenever I'm craving hot pot in Katy, Haidilao is the place I go to. It's usually busy, but I've never had to wait more than 30 minutes for a table. The inside of the restaurant is brightly lit, and the mix of music and chatter creates an inviting atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive! They provide aprons, wet wipes, and even hair ties for guests with long hair. They also offer complimentary snacks and appetizers to start your hot pot journey off right. Throughout the meal, they come by often to clear empty plates, which I really appreciate. One thing I love most about Haidilao is their extensive menu. There is so much to choose from! You place your orders on the iPad provided, which is super convenient. Their portions are generous, and I like that some menu items come in a half portion. It makes it easier to try more dishes without committing to a full serving. I highly recommend their spicy pork soup base. I get it every time I'm there! It has the perfect level of spice that stimulates your appetite. I also love their dynamite lobster balls. They have a sweet filling that pairs well with the savory hot pot ingredients. Haidilao also offers a great sauce bar where you can create your own dipping sauce. And don't forget to end your dinner on a sweet note with vanilla and/or chocolate ice cream from the ice cream machine! Although Haidilao is on the pricier side for hot pot, the delicious food, the wonderful service, and the overall experience make it absolutely worth it.

General: A Chinese Hotpot located in Katy Asia Town. À la carte style, not AYCE. Good: - Clean - Friendly staff - Has private rooms. (requires minimum order amount) - Menu offers a variety of items including pork brain and duck blood. (not sure if I would order that again but I like to try everything once) - You can create your own sauce at the bar with different bases. Bad - Parking is a hassle during busy times. Side note: - Reservation is recommended during peak times. - Chinese hotpot is different than Japanese style shabu shabu. Not really my style of hotpot but I would go again.

Really solid hot spot with great customer service. They have a sauce bar, which is extra, that allows you to create custom dipping sauces. The sauce bar also holds decent sides such as edamame and chicken. I definitely recommend you get any version of their Tom Yum hotpots. Be aware some of their spicy hotpots are mouth-numbingly spicy. Be sure to ask before ordering. Their ordering is done thru their tablets and makes your experience so much easier. I'll definitely be back in the future.

Haidilao is a great hot pot spot, lots of broths to choose from and plenty of meats as well. The sauce bar has a ton of ingredients and I love the dancing noodles. Not just fun but the thick cut noodles are super good!

Seen this world famous hotpot chain around the country. Finally decided to give this one on Katy/Houston area a try. Came on a Friday at lunch time and somehow got in with a minimal wait, but the restaurant was packed! All ordering is done on a tablet. Quite honestly, it can be confusing if you are coming for the first time. You basically order everything a la carte... the base soup (plain hot water, or a variety of soup bases like Tom yum, pork bone broth, etc), your veggies, proteins, noodles, and so on with individual prices for everything. Oh, and there's a per person charge for the Appetizer/Sauces/Dessert Bar as well. They had some combo and all you can eat specials advertised, but we were told they were out of most specials except for an all you can eat (protein) lunch combo for $19.99 per head which included fatty beef, chicken, fish, tofu and shrimp paste. Everyone in your party has to participate of any one person wants the unlimited special. I was told the "unlimited" special actually means up to 10 of any one item for our group of 4 that we ordered within 2 hours of being seated. The fatty beef that came with the special was REALLY fatty. The chicken, fish, tofu and shrimp paste were good. Each person picked their own soup bases so we tried plain (water with some dates and gojo berry), Tom yum, mushroom, and pork bone broth. The flavor soup bases tasted fine, but the server did say they all contained msg (and we were all pretty thirsty afterwards). The robots bringing food to your table is a bit gimmicky... and hard to navigate the crowded restaurant with narrow walkways. The table across from us order their "Dancing Noodle" so we were also entertained by someone juggling and pulling noodles in the walkway. Our server was great... very patiently explained the order process, helped prep the shrimp paste for our hotpots, etc. Food was just ok, and the bill adds up fast with all the a la carte orders. Gave them 4 Yelps for the overall experience and great server, but otherwise the food is a 3.5 Yelp at best. Definitely had better all you can eat hotpot deals with decent food in the Houston area, so not sure we'll be back.

Haidilao exceeded all of my expectations. It was such a fun and memorable dining experience! It's easily one of the best hot pot restaurants I've been to. They offer tea and snacks while you wait which was a nice touch. The decor is playful and cute. There are secret phrases you can say to get little freebies. It added to fun. Service was super attentive and friendly. The menu and ordering is on an iPad. You can get up to 4 different broths. We got the spicy pork bone broth, tom yum, tomato and golden. The spicy pork bone broth and tom yum were my favorites. They were so rich and flavorful. After cooking all of the meat and veggies in the broth, it becomes even more delicious. The tomato was also good but not spicy. The golden broth was very plain so I probably wouldn't order that one again. The noodle dance is a must order! it's both entertaining and delicious. The sauce bar was a little overwhelming at first, but you can customize your sauce any way you like. They also had edamame, fruit and some other side dishes at the sauce bar. The soft serve ice cream at the end was way better than I expected with plenty of toppings to add. There's plenty of free parking. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun and interactive dining experience. I will definitely be back!

My favorite place to get hot pot! I love how clean and neat this place is and one of my favorite things about this hot pot franchise is the service! There's so many cool little things that mean a lot! I love the huge menu and especially their new promotion of meat o'clock which definitely gets me full! I highly recommend and would come back

Food was good! I do wish that you could adjust the heat yourself cause I caught myself constantly overcooking everything. It's a lot to maintain especially if you come with people. I'd go again now knowing the do's & don't's but it's definitely stressful the first time around. They had good music, and staff was very accommodating.

Delicious. The best hotpot restaurant in Houston by quality. They have specials on certain days, particularly AYCE during lunch on weekdays that you should definitely aim for if you eat here, as it can get pretty expensive. My friend and I usually eat a lot and we were stuffed by 5 meat plates. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the Tom Yum broth, but all other broths are amazing. Tomato broth is especially great here and different than other places. Haidilao prides themselves on their service and nice amenities, which they did not disappoint with at the Katy location. Remember that you paid for everything so you can take things to-go, and also that there's special phrases you can say to your server to get free stuff like soup broths, fruit, toys, etc.!

Worst service ever. We know how hot pot works, but we had a lot of questions about the menu and the meaning of the food names. Instead of helping us, they laughed at us. The water they served came warm from the faucet, and we had to chase the server every time we needed something. He left dirty dishes on the table, and even though there were many servers and managers around, no one offered to help. Very unprofessional -- we will never go back.

Haidilao is a great hotpot place to check out but with so many great ones at a cheaper price point I don't know if it's worth it. If you are going for service, this is definitely the spot to be but other hotpot places have better sauce bars and hotpot ingredient options. I would recommend making a reservation because even though we went for an early dinner at 5pm, it was pretty much packed inside already.

The good thing about cold weather in Houston is that it's hot pot season! The last time we had hot pot was back in April, so it was finally time to satisfy the long craving. Be warned that this is not AYCE - we were both hungry but not in the mood for our usual AYCE hot pot, and Haidilao had long been on our list to try. We walked in shortly after 8pm on a Saturday. They quoted us a 45 minute wait, but we only ended up waiting about 20 minutes of that. Towards the end of the wait, the hostess gave us an iPad where we could start looking at the different options. The hostess was super nice in helping us select 4 of their best soup bases in the quarter pot, which is a square pot divided into quadrants. We got the Thai Tom Yum, Classic Spicy, Mushroom, and Pork Bone soup bases. They charge by the type of soup base that you get, so for our 4 it came out to about $30. All of our soup bases were delicious and for different reasons. My overall favorite was the Classic Spicy - it had a nice kick and was very fragrant, great for clearing the sinuses. This one was my favorite for dipping the meat in for added flavor. My runner-up was the Mushroom - this was my favorite for dipping vegetables and gave them an extra boost of umami. My partner's favorite was the Thai Tom Yum - this one brought out a strong spicy, tomato flavor and came with a shrimp! For meats, we ordered the USDA prime ribeye, American Kobe beef belly, and pork belly. All of the meat cuts were very thin and cooked in the broths in less than 30 seconds. All were very tender but my favorite was the ribeye with just the right balance between lean and fatty. For veggies, we ordered bok choy, daikon radish, Napa cabbage, wood-eared mushrooms (black fungus), enoki mushrooms, and pumpkin. My favorite was the enoki mushrooms, while the cabbage and wood-eared mushrooms were super easy to cook and eat quickly. Pumpkin was a nice addition but takes a little longer to cook. They offer a sauce and condiment bar for you to make your own sauces and help yourself to small snacks and appetizers. This comes at an additional $3.99 per person, but also includes the ice cream bar for dessert. While we didn't save any room for dessert, making our own sauce was worth the extra fee. We ordered the Dancing Noodle, which is super worth it at roughly $5. You get the noods to eat with hot pot, and a tableside performance! The dancing performance, while short, was super fun to watch during our meal. They also did a Mask Changing show during our dinner, which happens once a day during the week and a few times a day on weekends. Super fun experience! For drinks, we wanted to get a pitcher of Sapporo beer, but they informed us that they didn't have Sapporo and the only pitcher available was Bud Light. That was a bit disappointing and a huge downgrade, so we went for bottles of Tsingtao instead. Our server Khang was super helpful and kind throughout our meal. He made great recommendations for our meats, and whenever we had a question about cooking times, he knew the answer right away. I wonder if they quiz their servers on these as part of the hiring process? While this won't be our go-to for hot pot, it was a very nice and fun experience. We got the royal treatment with aprons, robot food delivery to the table, and excellent service, but that all comes at a cost. We came out at just under $150 before gratuity for 2 of us which is far pricier than even the AYCE places, but it is totally worth it for a new experience, date night, or special occasion.

There's no more crawfish or Cajun boil out and they stopped coming to refill your soup or check up on you after a while. The Spicy Numbing Pot, while a little oily/greasy on the bottom, was still delicious! I appreciated that it wasn't knock your socks off spicy - it had a solid kick, and so flavorful. The music is a mix of EDM, Hip-hop, Rap, and R&B. They have tables and bar top seating. If you have a bigger group, I'm sure you can find a table depending on the time you arrive. There is a lot of seating. To start off, I ordered the Matcha Martini. It was STRONG omg, definitely a sipper, but it was so good. It was creamy and had a good matcha flavor. I love how they added matcha powder on top. For drinks, I also tried their espresso martini and Bubbly Pineapple. The espressos here are good, no complaints. The Bubbly Pineapple is so cute; it comes out with a bubble of smoke you can pop. The drink is very refreshing; it really tastes like pineapple. FYI, the drink has little black seeds, so if you don't like textures in your drink, maybe this one isn't for you. Also the drink came with a little frozen pineapple you can add to your drink once you pop the bubble As an appetizer, I got a dozen raw oysters and decided to add the $5 tobiko (fish eggs). Let me say, they were not stingy with the Tobiko, there was so much on my Oysters, I mean a lot! The oysters were good, and so was the tobiko, but I feel that with so much tobiko, it kind of took away from the oysters. Still good though, especially for $21 for the dozen with the tobiko! It was very filling I'm not gonna lie, I got pretty full with the oysters, but I still had to eat my entree As an entree, I ordered the Short Ribs, which came with rice and a side salad. I didn't think I was going to eat much of my entree since the oysters had filled me up, but I ate the short ribs down to the bone! Every single one of those ribs I devoured, no meat was left on my plate. I didn't have space to eat, but my stomach made space for this. 10/10 would recommend the short ribs, especially with the delicious sauce it came with. I think it's like a fish sauce 10/10 for food and drinks. Bonus: the staff here is really friendly. I really enjoyed my time here. I need to come more often for sure, this is definitely a Katy gem

Had no reservations anywhere on a Friday night but called GiAu Bar n Bites & they said come on in, we don't get our crowd till late night. It was fairly empty at 7:30p but by the time we left at 9:45p there were a few more ppl. Funny thing is, the age of most customers was 40-60s. The music is pumping loudly with no DJ but at 9p the DJ came in & took the music up another level! I think the older folks come out early & likely the younger people take over after 10 or 11p. ( I won't be able to confirm that theory cause I'll be home by then!) Food & services were good as usual. The bartenders do a great job check them out!

As I dug deeper, I read Jando's glowing review word-for-word and found myself salivating. Well, I ventured out to S. Mason for lunch, found the place easily, appreciated the ample and free parking, and walked in. I had read before that they used to be closed on Tuesdays and Saturdays, but now they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but open for dinner on Saturdays. (See my photos.) Anyhow, we walked in and found the place homey. Nothing fancy - just a nice, clean, homey Malaysian restaurant. Not too big, and not too small. We placed our order of roti canai, stir fried flat rice noodles, seafood sizzling tofu, and topped it off with a Malaysian milk tea. Oh my - we were satisfied and stuffed as a party of 2. We ended up boxing up almost 40% of the meal. The roti was near perfection - crispy, hot, flaky. The dipping sauce was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of heat. It included chunks of chicken and potato. You must absolutely order this one. I love me some stir fried flat rice noodles so we got that one with chicken. Overall, it was excellent. Portions were a tad smaller than I would like for the price. Also it could use a little bit of hot sauce so we asked for a side of sriracha which they gladly and quickly brought. The sizzling tofu - OMG so good. I can't even explain it. I just love it so much and the portions are huge. I'm not sure what the vegetable flavor would taste like but we tried the seafood one and have no regrets. Lastly the milk tea was just because we felt like splurging and it was also a great decision. The tea flavor itself is deep and the overall drink is very nice. We got it iced. And an honorable mention - we ran into Uncle Chin (at least we assume it was Uncle Chin) and told him his food was amazing. I think he really appreciated it. He seems like a super nice guy and I want his business to do really well. If that wasn't Uncle Chin then we talked to a random person and raved about the food... Many thanks for Jando for the raving review that convinced me to try this place. Loved it and would absolutely come back as soon as possible!

It gives the place a very homey feel. The servers were all super friendly and attentive and the owner was also very kind and checked on us a few times. The food and drinks were all delicious, good portions, and prices were reasonable. Everything came out in a timely manner. The drinks took a little longer, but it wasn't a big deal. We also ordered a noodle dish that I forgot to take a picture of. One thing to note: I wouldn't recommend using the restroom if you can avoid it. My little one really had to go and it wasn't clean at all or well kept which was a bit of a downside especially with a kid. Overall, we had a great experience and I'm glad we finally tried it.
