Last Halloween the ball was dropped when they had my to go dish covered in mushrooms, and I requested "no mushrooms ". This year, which is now Last Halloween the sausages were undercooked, even caused me to experience loose stool, I was invited back to make it right. Service were great and very attentive. Now I'm here half a year later trying them again, sitting in the courtyard ordering from their limited menu. Cajun crawfish rolls 9/10 Happy hour drink "crescent city swirl" ($6 frozen concoction category). 9/10 Military discount is honored here. I'm a bit surprised that won't apply points to Landry rewards if military discount applied The AC appeared to be broken because it definitely was warmer than should have been when I arrived I sat in the courtyard area for quite a while before getting anyone's attention to just get a cup of water, which I never got. She told me that the bartender will come collect my order, and I got a drink and an egg rolls. read more

**Took the day off to spend with family. **Thought to take family to a nice lunch. **Choosing Babins was a mistake. Waste of quality time and hard earned money. We visited Babin's Seafood House in Katy today as an alternative since Landry's Seafood House in Katy has closed, and unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing experiences we've had. We arrived around 3 PM on a Friday expecting to take advantage of the lunch menu and happy hour, which is normally offered at that time. However, we were told by the hostess that neither was available. What was frustrating was not just the policy itself, but the lack of clear explanation -- it was only vaguely mentioned that it was due to a holiday, with no real effort to clarify or accommodate. Service throughout the meal was very poor. Our waters were never refilled, and our server was largely inattentive. It felt like we were being overlooked rather than taken care of. The biggest issue came with the food. We specifically ordered seafood dishes due to the Lent season-- specifically it being Good Friday, only to find sausage included in the seafood jambalaya. When we brought this up, the response from the server --" i'm absolutely sure there's no sausage in your dish" and made it seem like we were the problem, rather than addressing the mistake. Nonetheless, the was sausage in the dish and a manager did come by and offered to replace the dish, but even that felt reluctant -- more like an inconvenience than an attempt to make things right. To make matters worse, what was supposed to be a casual lunch turned into an $96 bill for a family of four, without the quality of service or experience to justify it. This was especially disappointing because we've been coming here as a family for years and have generally had good experiences. As a Landry's Select Club member for over 10 years, this was easily one of the worst experiences we've had at any Landry's restaurant. Had a late, post Dr Appt lunch date at Babins today. Don't see a lot on Babins reviews, but today's lunch deserves a shoutout. On Tuesday, they have Mardi Gras specials on apps and drinks. The mushroom app was excellent with the stuffing well balanced with crawfish. The fried snapper was perfect, not over cooked but lightly fried and very flakey allowing the snapper to shine. The crawfish étouffée was just a bit over peppered but still tasty. The bread pudding was awesome as always. And Babins has the very best New Orleans style bread. Great lunch! " MY NEW FAMILY" This is surely a hidden gem. I have been in this neighborhood for over 9 years and only visited here twice before I started regularly eating at this location. It is literally like a family. I watched people come in and out of door and the bar area surely has it patrons that visit often and the bartenders know their names. My experiences have been great with the employees I have encountered except for one occasion but the good outweigh the bad. I have sat in the dining room before but I have recently started sitting at the bar and the staff are absolutely amazing. My angels are "JESSICA P, ANALYSSA AND NICK". All of them have made me feel like family from day one and treat me with so much respect. Before I can even get out of my mouth what I need, they are already anticipating my needs. My regular meals are Happy Hour Fish with onion strings and spinach dip. My lunch menu meal is the chicken breast with salad and sweet potato only butter. My food is always hot and tasty. The Grilled chicken has this undeniable flavor. It is immaculate. Grilled to perfection. I am always meeting someone at the bar, conversing and eating dinner together while enjoying the company. Service is good. I ordered the crab bisque and as usual , it was good. Now let's talk about sauces- ordered three tail fish with Ponchartrain sauce and this was a hot mess. First - don't think cooks really understand how to make a sauce! I realize that mushrooms are cheep (usually not used anywhere in this sauce) however, mushrooms are watery! Today sauce had zero flavor and was like brown water (mushrooms) all over the place. So many mushrooms to give peoples eyes the vision "of more", that doesn't work here. So they royally screwed up the sauce which ruined the fish. So took it home to see if I could doctor up. Question for the chef- should anyone have to do this because you have no idea (or did) how mushrooms affect the sauce? I hope this is not the way it's normally made. read more

We went for dinner with a family member who has very complicated food allergies. She'd contacted Babin's in advance to see if they'd be willing to accommodate her allergies. Jessica was our server & she was amazing!! She is also allergic to a variety of foods, so she totally understood the importance of getting our food order right for safety. A manager came over to double-check our order. The food was terrific and service was top notch. Late Post: Had dinner here with friends early this year with group of friends. I have not been in years but the restaurant is still going strong although decor is aging. The service was good and wait staff was attentive. It was late so didn't order a full meal. We ordered some appetizers and split a fried fish meal and dinner salad. The food quality was fresh and good for casual seafood and Cajun dining. It's not top tier but again good for the neighbor and value.I wouldn't say this is my favorite restaurant but okay for groups or week day dinner or take out. Oh where do I begin, walked in this past Sunday March 22 and decided to sit at the bar which was full with 1 bartender Jessica and she was moving pretty slow. When we sat at the last 2 seats that were open I didn't mind that the previous customers dirty dishes and trash was there cause they probably just left, but it shouldn't take 10 minutes to acknowledge we were there and to remove the trash. The guy next to me ordered an old fashioned and when he finally got it he sent it back because he wanted the big ice cube then he decided to leave since it was taking too long. A customer ordered a manhattan and the bartender Jessica poured that unwanted old fashioned into a martini glass, added some ingredients and gave it to the guy. He tasted it and asked was this a manhattan? She then said yes, do you want me to put it in a shorter glass. Are you serious Jessica? That guy probably knows what it taste like and when she made him a second one you can see the color difference and he even said the first one did not taste like it. What if he was allergic to something in that old drink she poured in. And if there's cameras in the bar area they'd see it. Food was bland drinks were too sweet and that hurricane mix needs to go. I don't tend to frequent chain restaurants but my mom wanted to go to Babin's for her birthday! I ordered the fish your way - broiled (which is actually done on the flat top) with the creole green beans and a baked potato. Our server Stacy was The best part of the meal! When she first brought our drinks to the table, I asked her for a straw and poof! like magic, she already had two wrapped up in a napkin to hand us without touching/contaminating them by putting them in the drinks for us. I appreciated her consideration and preparedness. Stacy also informed me that the pan seared option involves a light dusting with flour to "crisp" the fish. I'm thankful she was looking out for me and my gluten-free diet! The creole green beans were tender and delicious! Stacy had a lot of humor, refused to let my mom pay, though my mom did try to insist multiple times, and packaged our food for us because she viewed it as a more "professional" and higher end experience for the customer and ensured to segregate to prevent any gluten contamination. We were super excited coming here, especially when we first walked in. Instantly reminded me of Pappas seafood house with its decor, dark moody lighting, furniture and layout. Breading was perfect flakiness and adhered to the fish well. The fries, like the bread, were less than warm and not crispy at all- disappointing. Onion rings were fair. Cocktail sauce had the right amount of horseradish for that expected kick. Snapper pontchartrain- 2/5. Snapper was overcooked and not flaky at all. Tried cutting the fish with a fork and large parts of the fish were pulled off strung together. The fish was topped off and loaded with crawfish and mushrooms but it seemed like it was attempting to cover the lack of flavor in the sauce. Suppose to be brown butter sauce but it was so light and had no seasoning, neither did the fish. Very disappointing dish. I took it home in order to give it more seasoning before finishing it. I haven't been to Babin's in forever! Came here with my parents for Houston's Restaurant Weeks. They throughly enjoyed themselves! Unfortunately I only got the one picture of shrimp gumbo and it was pretty good, very filling. I called to make sure nothing had changed and that we didn't need to make reservations. The hostess informed me that we only needed to make reservations for large groups and of course private events. We went around 6pm on Saturday. They were very busy, but since the restaurant is pretty large, there's plenty of seating and we didn't have to wait to be seated. Our waiter was very nice, patient and accommodating. The fried oysters were good (we had as appetizers outside the restaurant week menu), just fried a little hard. I don't eat much fried food, dad mostly wanted them. They were okay, I prefer char grilled. From the HOU Res Week Menu we had: Caesar Salad - can't go too wrong with a salad Gumbo - Good and filling Stuffed Flounder with Cajun Rice - so good!! We come to Babin's every time my dad or mom has a gift card lol! Always satisfied with their quality of food and their portion sizes. We started with one of their special Mardi Gras apps, the fried crawfish queso. I was expecting something on the smaller side, but it was huge! Queso had the perfect texture, not too runny and not too thick. Also the queso wasn't too salty- the cheese had a mild taste, which was good since the saltiness came from the fried crawfish. I will say it was almost impossible to scoop up the queso and crawfish on the thin chip without breaking it haha, so it was easier to just spoon it on top. We dipped the bread into the queso, and that was the move. Their bourbon street pasta is my go-to. Love how they generously load it with their crawfish, sausage, and shrimp especially. It is a very flavorful and heavy dish but soo delicious. As for the babin's mixed grill, I really enjoyed the tilapia topped with the lemon butter crawfish. The tilapia was crispy, and the lemon butter had the most amazing flavor. The server said her favorite pick from the mixed grill was the scallops, but personally, it was a bit too salty for me! If you have not had lunch at Babin's, it's definitely worth a look. My wife had the $12 blackened chicken and loved it. I had the crawfish half and half, which was offered as a special with red snapper bites instead of fried crawfish tails. The crawfish étouffée was delicious, and the fried snapper bites were excellent. Add a side of dirty rice, and this was a very enjoyable meal. Landry's has a rewards club called "Landry's Select". We signed up for it a week prior at Saltgrass. Basically, we paid $25 to get setup, then received $50 in credits to use right away. So we cashed-in one of the rewards with our meal. If you like the Landry's restaurants, ask your server to get setup. All in all, for lunch we spent about $15 per person for a quality meal (drinks brought it closer to $20 per person). I've tried the Babin's Willowbrook location and never had a good dining experience so I had given up on them. However, after many years of staying away from Babin's, I decided yesterday Sunday evening to give the Katy location a try and I'm so ecstatic that I did! My husband and I had the most delightful and pleasant dining experience! Service: Customer Service was on point! The hostess greeted us with a warm welcoming and friendly smile. She immediately found us a nice clean table for two. We were seated and waited for about two minutes before our servers came to take our drink orders. We had one main server but he was training two other people which was cool. They were all friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu items and he gave us some great suggestions. They consistently checked in on us throughout the entire time we were there asking if we were comfortable, if we needed anything, how's the food tasting, etc. Food: The food was on POINT! We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer. They were soooo delicious! It's three small crab cakes stuffed with a generous amount of seafood and topped with crawfish lemon butter. For the entree, I hade a side salad, the golden tile fish with the Babin's Mixed Grill and it was absolutely delectable! My husband had the flounder fish stuffed with seafood stuffing, grilled asparagus, and white rice. His food was heavenly divine! Yes I stuck my fork in his food and tasted it! I couldn't help myself! They deboned the fish at the table in front of us and guys you should have saw the thickness of the fish meat gliding off of the bone so effortlessly. It was plentiful with meat. My husband could not eat it all because it made him so full. Drinks: I had a frozen Margarita with an extra shot of Reposado tequila and it was very tasty and strong! You can actually taste the liquor in the Margarita. My husband ordered a Blue Moon orange flavored ice cold beer. He said that it was very good, nice, & cold just the way he likes it. The waiter brought an ice cold frost covered mug to the table and poured the cold beer into the frosty mug in front of my husband. Yeah our waiter was very professional! Rating: I gave this establishment five stars based on great customer service, friendly staff, cleanliness, professional waiters, the relaxing ambience, and deliciously mouth watering, melt in your mouth like butter, and delectably divine creole cuisine! It was almost impossible to get seated at this location at 1:30 in the afternoon. A hostess was not anywhere to be found. Several wait staff walked past me without so much as a hello, a welcome or go away from them. Seeing that the restaurant was 3/4 empty I was just about to leave, but opted to call the main number instead, no answer. Then as I was heading to the door an individual came to the host stand with an attitude and asked if he could help me. I stated that I was wanting a table but no one was willing to help. He grabbed a marker and marked out a spot on their map and then slammed the marker down like it was all he could do to take me to a table. I said if you're going to have an attitude I could easily go somewhere else to eat. Then he calmed a little and took me to my table, thankfully he wasn't my server.
