Service Perfect! Our next waitress gave us just enough time between delivering our drinks to asking for an appetizer. For some reason I don't like giving my whole order when trying to enjoy a new place. She didn't push and waited until our appetizer was delivered to inquire!! Love love that! She also came around when she noticed our drinks getting close to the bottom, so I never had to look up and see if she would notice!! Spectacular. This was my first time, but my sister's second. She loved it and wanted to share the experience with me. Her great sons got together and gave her a gift certificate and I got to help spend it. Apparently my nephew and his wife know the owner or manager. Not sure. Really not relevant, however my sister did point them out and I loved watching how they interacted with many of their guests and their employees and always saw them smiling. Now the food: we shared a 4 course meal since we wanted to try to everything, but neither of us could finish anything alone. The Bacon Wrapped Shrimp was perfectly cooked and the bonus were the fries that came with them!! The Shrimp and Prosciutto Salad was dang tasty, shrimp expertly grilled, but the rest of the salad fell short. It was missing something that could take it over the top. Lobster Mac and cheese!!! would drive the hour and a half again just for that entree. It was gorgeously plated, I wish that there were cut up pieces already mixed in with the pasta. Still won't turn it away because I had to cut up some lobster! We really didn't have room for dessert.. but what the heck! Key lime pie was divine. Silky and creamy, with just enough tang. We sat inside and though the restaurant is well decorated, I would have liked a little more room between our 4 top and the three others next to us. My sister said that they sat outside for her birthday a few years ago and even though it was mid-August it wasn't too uncomfortable and they had plenty of fans. If you are reading and have gotten this far, know that this place deserves at least 4 and a 1/2 stars. If I go again, I will see if I can change it to 5! I am by no main suggesting it is the only one, but it is well worth the drive to Simonton Texas to experience. What was the ambience of Texas before Houston became a major metropolitan area. I waited almost 2 hrs for my meal in early March 2026, as did my wife and my guest visiting from Australia. When I asked a few of the staff why so long for our meals, they had the nerve to reply 'didn't we tell you to order appetizers? This is what our regular customers know and do'. It took me going to the management staff to express my frustration, and then they apologized and said this shouldn't have happened and offered me a free dessert to course correct. I didn't want to make a scene with other guests and staff so I kept quiet. Management can reach out to me to make amends, mistakes happen, but the attitude of some of the staff was nonsense. I would not recommend this place again, it left a horrible Impression to my out of town guest and my wife. I had been there twice before and never dealt with such a disappointing experience. We found our new celebration spot! Came here for our anniversary, and left so full and can't wait to come back. We made reservations which I recommend especially for the weekends. Unfortunately, our table wasn't ready. No one really greeted us or asked if we've been here, or celebrating anything special. Which was a little disappointing for such an amazing place and celebrating such a huge anniversary. However, my husband had the Houston restaurant week special and it was the best pork chop we've ever had!! Started with the meatballs which were amazing as well! Ended with the pecan pie. I had the special with was lamb and chimichurri. It was absolutely delicious. I couldn't finish it all, but I had to try my husband's food as well which was so good!!!!! My brother took me to Anthonie's Market Grill, in Simonton Texas, west of Katy, for my birthday dinner on September 30th at about 4PM. He said it came highly recommended. He had been there before. It has a down home rustic look in a rural setting.  The staff at the hostess stand were friendly and efficient. Brandon, the waiter, was ok for me, but was off-putting according to older my brother. He came on too too casually jovial for him. My ribeye steak was delicious.  However, my mac & cheese tasted good, but a bit too soupy.  Our desert, pecan pie ala mode tasted ok. But the pie was cold, straight from the freezer. My brother and I had a rather disappointing customer experience.  Hopefully, the next visit will be better. read more

Finally got to try out the famous date night place in Simonton! This place is super cute with a HUGE patio. The inside is very small, maybe fits 10 tables or so. They had live music when we went which was nice for a date night. We started out with the calamari which the waitress recommended and said she watched them cut it fresh. It was fresh tasting except the batter is way too heavy. Calamari needs a light batter. We had half a Caesar salad which was amazing!! The ribeye was pretty fatty for a $65 steak but cooked well, and seasoned well but the Mac n cheese had separated. Their old fashioned was good with angels envy and service especially at the bar was stellar. I think there is room for improvement but overall I understand why people come here for date night. Came here for a mother's day "linner" reservation and had a great experience! They handed out roses to every mother - so sweet. Despite how packed it was (but it was a special day, so expected!), service was fast, friendly, and organized. Server was attentive but not overbearing and everything ran super smoothly. We started with the Texas Wagyu sweet thai meatballs (incredible & totally worth the $$ - crispy crust, juicy center, total flavor bomb) Split the Texas wedge salad with my partner (so so good, and HUGE) it was the perfect amount for each of us. The salad had: crumbled bacon, sliced boiled egg, red + green onion, tomato basil relish, crumbled bleu cheese, & bleu cheese dressing. And we also shared the shrimp & crab campechana. This ap was a tasty one but honestly not sure about $23. But then again, I could just be a frugal frannie! :,) but it felt a little steep for the portion size, that's all. Still yummy! For my entrée, I had the 16 oz ribeye with a creamed spinach stuffed tomato - steak wasn't piping hot upon arrival but still was flavorful, cooked perfectly, and melted in my mouth. For dessert, the table went with the banana pudding. While I was too stuffed to have a bite, the table really enjoyed it! And the portion was big enough for 6 people. Even with 6 people, there was still some left over which was taken home to enjoy later. Ambience is rustic, music outside, semi-upscale, but really family-friendly. Pricing reflects that - entrees are around $29-$65. Not sure what the kids menu looks like. Parking is plentiful with a large lot, though be ready to walk a bit if you can't find a spot near the entrance. Overall, worth the visit for the special occasion! A few downsides worth noting: While the dinner table itself was clean and well-maintained, the women's restroom was not. I'm not sure if this was the only women's RR there - but if it was, it felt too small for how huge the restaurant is :( Only 2 stalls, and awkwardly designed. The baby changing station completely blocked one stall (like the station is located directly in front of a stall, outside of the stall - so if someone was using the stall closest to the changing station... they would not be able to exit) The floors were wet and grimy. Full trash cans, fallen paper towels, and no real place to wait inside made the whole experience kinda weird. But then again I have no idea if that was the only restroom! read more

See if you live in Houston, there's nothing better than taking a trip south to the country for about an hour to Simonton to listen to live music on a Sunday afternoon. That's the experience and that alone is a reason to come. Now let's talk campfire....more like glamping lol because the prices coincide closely with market steaks and not your typical boy-scout foil packs! The taste of the yeast rolls dipping into the au jus sauce from your steak plate - just stop the press. And it's not just mac n cheese... upgrade your tastebuds to include lobster if you've never tried it! The braised ribs were just okay, I feel like I make those better in my instant pot so I'd skip that item but the steaks were on point! So why the 4 stars?! Service was slow because the patio was busy and we were starving. I gave like 45 minutes wait time YET they did recognize the wait before I complained and brought us out delicious chips and queso. Overall, this restaurant has been a relaxing experience with tasty food time and time again. We always wait until the weather is nice enough to eat outside on the patio areas. There's music in the later afternoon, the fruitless pear trees bloom in season, fire pits, and a nice staff. They have always accommodated us sitting outside. Only cons, inside seating is tight and you need to like the smells of an indoor wood oven because you may come outside smelling like it. Prices are a bit steep but the food is always descent. I took my wife to Anthonie's Market Grill last night to celebrate her birthday...they provided a really nice evening, live music, a toasty warm outdoor seating area ( the weather was about 35 degrees with a north wind), and really great food. My wife had the Blackened Cobia with Shrimp and Coconut Rice, and I had the CFS. Both were very well executed. This was the 2nd or 3rd time we had been to Anthonie's, and every time the food and service have been outstanding. Shout out to our server, Elvin...such a great server and really likeable guy. Saw this place on Texas bucket list and decided to try it out. Very nice casual dining experience. We ate on the porch but with all the fans and coolers it was pleasant in July. The waiter was attentive and helpful, even suggesting drinks and appetizers that were amazing. We started with the Crab Ranchero which had an excellent crab flavor but the grilled corn really brought it together. We also had a seasonal watermelon Greek salad. It was light and flavorful, perfect for a texas summer. For entrees we had the Texas Wagyu Meatloaf and the Chop. The Meatloaf was rich and elegant and the collard greens were not heavy like I'm used to. The chop was tender and the mesquite really put it over the top. We were so full we didn't get to try the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding. Something to look forward to next time. read more

Came here to celebrate a birthday on a Friday night. We had a reservation and were seated right away in the outdoor section as requested. Our server was not particularly nice, did not tell us about the specials, and slammed down our drinks on the table for whatever reason. We ordered the fried mushrooms and spinach dip to start. The mushrooms were good but the spinach dip was really bland. The spinach was not chopped at all and the dip didn't have enough cheesiness to it. The tortilla chips it came with were coated in an interesting spice blend that included sugar which I do not particularly like. Our waiter let us know that the kitchen was taking 30 mins to put out an order. I understand restaurants can get busy but I've been to plenty other busy establishments and they usually get the food out a bit quicker than that so if it's a staffing issue or simply not enough kitchen space, I'd recommend seating less people so that everyone can have a higher quality experience instead of mediocre so that you can make a bigger check at the end of the night. I've been here before around a holiday and the wait for food was an hour! I would not have come again but it was somebody else's choice so I wanted to share my thoughts. I ordered the teriyaki steak as my main. The steak was cooked well to my preference (medium rare) but it had too much of that charred taste. I don't really understand why they add the teriyaki sauce. It's not glazed in it or anything, just thrown on top haphazardly. The breaded shrimp were good and the rice is rice. They messed up an order a bit, where it was requested with no bacon and instead the dish came out with no green onions. The margherita pizza was alright, nothing special. The fries are also coated in that sugar spice blend like the tortilla chips. At the end of the meal, they brought out a slice of chocolate cake for the birthday girl. Overall, I do not recommend the food here. It's a nice venue and I can understand the appeal for a special occasion or maybe a school dance but I don't think it's worth it. read more

I've been to Anthonies more than 15 times over the years and have always enjoyed the food and service--until today. We came in to celebrate a family member's birthday. The service was good and the food was fine, but the experience was ruined when my son found something that looked like mold at the bottom of his dark Tab beer. He also mentioned a very unpleasant aftertaste at the end of the beer. We immediately reported it to our server, Ursula, who was great and handled it professionally. However, I fully expected the manager to come to our table to address a serious issue like this. He never did. At the end of the meal, I personally approached the manager, and his reaction was basically that it was no big deal. No concern, no apology, no effort to make it right. Now we're left hoping my son doesn't get sick, because the situation was honestly awful and concerning. What should have been a celebration turned into a disappointment. Great place with good food. I like that they added a burger to the menu. It was good. I'm a big fan of their shrimp and I really love the crab dip. It can be a bit expensive, but the food is really good. The steaks are great, but for me a little over priced. But that being said, any food you get at this place will be done well and if it isn't, you can let them know and they will fix it for you. I like this place. It has pretty good service every time I've been there. Food comes out quickly, as long as you're not there on a big eating out holiday like Mother's Day or Father's Day or similar one, but that's understandable. I like the country vibes of the place. This was our first visit because of all the hype we heard about it. Service was great, spinach tomato was excellent, drinks were good. Steak was very disappointing. We each ordered the Prime NY Strip that was one of the specials offered at $59 each. The steak was ordered medium rare and was prepared good, but it was very tough poor-quality meat that was actually a challenge to even cut through. At the end of the meal the waiter asked us if everything was ok (didn't finish the steak because it was too tough for both of us) so we told him, he asked if we want to speak with a Manager, we declined, paid our $280 tab and gave the waiter $100 cash tip. When you go to a steak house and don't get a good steak we will not go back. So let's talk about this weekend. I met a friend for dinner here Saturday night and I had a really good time. The drink I had was a lemon drop and it was delicious. I ended up having 2 lol. We try a few appetizers 1 was calamari and another was an off menu item. I'll be honest the calamari was fried well it just wasn't seasoned. Very bland it needed a different sauce I feel the spicy sauce that came with it was too spicy for me. My guest enjoyed it she liked spicy. For dinner I had an off menu item the lamp chops and it came with mashed potatoes and nothing green. That was kind of disappointing but the potatoes were creamy and nice I was have enjoyed some asparagus with the meal to make it complete but oh well. Service was great she was very nice and was patient as we asked questions about the food. This place was very nice the fire pit set the night and you didn't need to dress up but I wasn't aware of that so I felt over dressed. Very causal place with nice people all over. We visited for a dinner with our family. We arrived just before five and opted to sit outside in the huge patio since it was such a beautiful day. Our waiter was wonderful and made some excellent recommendations. We started off with some cocktails and my husband ordered a beer. I ordered the blackened redfish, my husband had the salmon, my daughters ordered the flatbread pizza, shrimp scampi and the grilled cobia and shrimp. For dessert we ordered Chef Dekkars cobbler once our entrees arrived because it takes 30 minutes to prepare and is served piping hot right out of the over topped with a generous scoop of Bluebell Ice Cream. It was so good but a little pricey. We got the BBQ chicken flatbread and gulf shrimp with Asiago grits. Both were good and we would come here again.
