What an amazing experience I had at this restaurant yesterday. Texas borderers really knows how to give you a great meal at a great price. Even as yesterday was a holiday, they had some great specials and it was really nice to see a restaurant still provide this on a holiday. They had by any burger and get their regular cheeseburger for free. So we got two hamburgers and they were absolutely fantastic. The burgers were perfectly cooked and fresh and tasted amazing. Every burger is served on a brioche bun and it was perfect. They came with fresh french fries that were seasoned perfectly. Our server was super friendly and answered any question that we had and she was very attentive. She also offered us to go drinks and we really appreciated that. The restaurant was crowded, but you did not realize it because the service that you were provided was top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant for anybody who wants a good meal at a great price. Their menu has also grown a little bit and the choices are unlimited. I am so glad that we chose to go to Texas borders yesterday and I will be back really soon. Ordered the chicken and waffles and they drizzled syrup all over. Asked for the syrup on the side. They were nice enough to make it again and didn't charge me for the first one. The waffle is already sweet so that's why it was over sweet. There were flies flying around during our meal and annoying to have to wave them off. read more

Well I am conflicted with this one. There were a lot of mixed reactions from our table. First of all the service was great. I'll just say they made every effort to make things right. Robin was our server and she did great. The problem was the cooks in the kitchen. They may need some more training. Well, 2 of us ordered breakfast and 2 of us ordered dinner. The dinner portions both gave 2 thumbs up. 2 breakfast people were not as happy. First thing , plates came out to tables one at a time. Pet peeve of mine. It throws people dining experience off. Whoever cooked the breakfast one came out to greasy and the other came out almost after we were all done. She had asked for a scrambled egg on the side of her French toast and if you look at the photo it was a fried egg chopped up and the French toast was soggy. Only the kitchen to blame for that one. Now the impressive part, they acknowledged it right away and told us it would be taken off the bill, no worries and also served us a complementary dessert for the trouble. Now , that's how a situation should be handled. Hands on managers and making it right. I will give them that. They care about the customers. Everything that was brought out by our table looked very good and saw a couple things brought back to the line. We were sitting right beside the pick up area. It is a very family friendly restaurant and it was very busy. So I'm not going to bash this restaurant or review because I feel if they know- they will work to fix any future problems in the kitchen area. I can only review our situation with hopes that it helps with training. Your line managers did a great job at rectifying the situation. read more

First of all, this place was LOUD on a Tuesday night. They had some Bingo event going on, which is fine, but it was hard to talk at the table due to the noise. We ordered a variety of things including a blackened chicken quesadilla, gumbo, assorted platter, and loaded border fries. The gumbo was very good with tons of flavor, but was so spicy we didn't finish it. The blackened chicken quesadilla had good flavor and was hot. Most of the food on the appetizer platter was pretty good, but was greasy, even for fried food. Finally the loaded fries were underwhelming, but not bad per se. We aren't local, so we won't be back, but not a bad place to grab some food. read more

First time we visited so he made sure to make great recommendations. The pork chop meal was amazing (large portions). PoBoy was great & the boudin balls were amazing. The food was okay... nothing particularly fancy however enjoyable. The drinks were good and complemented my meal. Pricing was fair for the quality and portion sizes, decent value. The environment was cool, with a comfortable lively atmosphere both inside and outside. Service was good...fast...attentive, even though we were a party of five and most of the tables were occupied. First time going to this location, and first at any Texas borders in probably about 20 years. But I ordered a ultimate jalapeño burger, which came with the beer battered fries. The fries were amazing. I ate them all before I realized it. I also like the price point here. After tax, it was $14.08 but the burger comes with fries which is unusual these days usually that's an added cost. It's on a jalapeño bun. I got mine to go, but I will definitely return. It seems like a cool place to hang out: very clean nice atmosphere. Plenty of bar space lots of different seating arrangements available including outdoor. Plenty of parking in the shopping center that it's in & easy to get to. The staff was super nice both on the phone, placing my order and at the host to stay where I picked up my order. I did use the restroom. I was there and it was super clean. There's a male and female, single stall restroom. Overall, I'm really happy that I stopped. Great food from what I could tell great atmosphere will definitely be going back for some of the specials. read more

First off I love the one out on 1093. Went yesterday to the bar area. Got several strange looks. And appears there's a lot of regulars and they're not very welcoming to anyone else who is new. Guy across from the bar, kept staring at us with a pissy face a gentleman and his wife who are a regulars came in. He asked if the seat was taken and I said yes, my friend is outside. They got all pissy and said well he's not here. I said the seat is saved. He was huffing and puffing. Now I will say the bar tender was very attentive and they have good prices. If I ever go back, I would just get a table in the seating area. It appears the regulars kind of owned the bar area and do not like or care for others. read more

So we have met the owner thru old friends. She doesn't really know us but is always so friendly. I need to say something the next time I see her. But the drinks are awesome and cheap, being that they have HH every day. Monday is HH alllll day. They have specials every day. The food is homemade and amazing. We brought our son who is home from college and he was so impressed. Joey is our fave bartender. He needs a raise. He knows exactly what we eat, drink, and even our little quirks (like no tomatoes lol). We love Joey! We go about once a week! I get the buffalo wrap. Hubby gets their amazing wings. Go! The drinks were good and reasonable priced. While the bar it was not wiped down. The surface was very sticky. Looked at the floor it was dirty. On the floor I observed a few old limes on the floor. The food looked good but didn't want to try it. If your establishment is dirty, what about the kitchen? Anyways this place is great, attention to detail. The manager needs to fix a few things or look for another job. Furthermore the bathrooms were unsanitary. Staff needs to clean the floors and bathrooms. Paper towels all over the floor and it smelled. My opinion: fix a few things and improve your business. read more

Boom!! A 5 star here. Feels like you are right by a dock or seaside villa but in the middle of Katy, Texas, right by Katy Mills Mall. Environment is very comfortable with friendly clients and great two lady bartenders working today Sunday Aug 25th just after 3pm....excellent service and had the blackened catfish that was very soft and zero fishy taste. I wanted to sneak in back and have them make more for me to take home. The place to go for all...environment, sports, regulars/clients, over the top happy staff and hands down great food. I'll be here more often, and yall should be as well. Even the steamed broccoli I had for the side instead of fries was perfect. Sadly, Borders has gone out of business (the bookstore), I would know as I used to perform there. But Texas Borders has, in the time since Borders departed, become quite the destination. It's a hell of a spot for chicken fried steak, for blackened wings on the grill, for other amazing Tex-American specialties. I think the Cajun food here and the Tex Mex food here is lacking, and I would definitely only give 3 based on that food. The service though is a 5 (depending on which waitress, but lots of them are great), and the American food and Texan food is pretty awesome. It's not cheap, nor is it pricy, but with service like this, with a nice atmosphere and amazing taste, it's 5 stars all the way for TB. Plus it's locally owned - only 2 locations, and I'm looking forward to trying the other one. read more

The Hubs and I recently went to try Texas Borders when we were in town cause it was right down the way from our hotel. We each got a drink, which was fine. Standard, nothing notable, which is generally not good nor bad. We started with the fried pickles cause we'd been craving them. They were alright. They are sliced to thinly that there's more breading than pickle, when they soak up a bunch of oil, they weren't quite what I had expected, though not the worst I've ever had. I sure wish establishments would catch on to frying in lard or tallow though. We also tried boudin, which neither of us had had before, so without something to compare it to, I would say they were good enough to try other places. It was mostly breading, the crawfish was not large enough to detect but it did add to the overall flavor. They were tender and the aioli was good. I tried their chicken fried chicken with fries, which was quite good. Their gravy tasted homemade and the chicken was tender. Hubby had the Nawlins Po Boy Fergie style, he must've liked it cause he finished it despite being full. The bartender was our server and he did a great job being attentive to us and the rest of the bar and bar seating area during the end of dinner rush. Props to him. Overall it was pretty decent, I wouldn't mind trying a crawfish boil next time. read more

Went here with family and the food was amazing! I would recommend the boudin balls with the sauce and the wings. We got a couple different flavors of wings and they were all super good. Finally, we got the crawfish and it was amazing a little spicy but nothing too crazy. Our server was awesome and checked on us regularly. They also accommodated our request to put the rodeo on a TV we could see which was nice. Overall it was a nice place to hangout they did turn dim the lights closer to dinner. Same bartender ended up paying for my second beer because I had to wave him down to get his attention after 5 minutes of waiting for him to check on me. Won't be back even though my food was decent. I'm going to get straight to the point the service was great, our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the food. Now to the food.... The food was "ok" nothing to report back home. I ordered some boudin balls for an appetizer. They were not crispy outside and moist inside. The filling had too much breading. For my meal, I got "Dan the man Chicken Pasta". It consisted of chicken fried chicken with provolone cheese on top and Alfredo pasta. It was just pasta with watered down sauce nothing special. It was just ehh' no reason to return. read more

My parents have been regulars here for years and we went last night to try it out. Great food, got the wings - definitely recommend. The hot flavor was the perfect amount of spicy. Manager/Owner is awesome. Reason for a five is because every meal at our table was very good. Portion size and price is a great value. I wish we had this place in our area for sure. We will visit this place again when in the Katy area. I had the fajita chicken salad in a softer taco shell it was super good. The Catina bowl was amazing. Daughter had the special for the day the chicken fried chicken. Their gravy was like my grandmas awesome. Other daughter had the big Joe burrito which was also amazing. Yes, I tried everyone's meal. Borders is a great place to eat and drink BUT lately its starting to feel like we are back at the Westgreen location with the AC ALWAYS broken. Why is this always an issue?
