Patio is shaded which is great, so we usually sit outside with the ambience of the lake and large trees. Service is also great, shout out to Cullen he was truly fantastic on our anniversary dinner night. Recommend any of their crab stuffed fish (have had snapper and flounder), also the sea bass. My daughters and I chose Rouxpour for our annual Mothers Day event. We made a reservation and arrived a bit early. We were quickly seated and greeted by our server Danny. Since it was Mother's Day, there were more tables than usual making the dining space tight and hard to maneuver for the guests and staff. Danny quickly took our drink orders and then our food orders. They had a special menu for Mother's Day, and still offered their full menu as well. We opted for the chargrilled oysters and deviled eggs with shrimp for appetizers, scallops, ettoufe , and asparagus with jumbo lump crab for entrees. All the food was still the excellent quality provided on many of my visits. Half way through the meal and prior to our entrees coming, a party of 8 arrived and I asked if we could move to a vacant table along the back windows to give the group more space and the staff graciously accommodated us and helped us move. I had dinner here last week to celebrate my birthday, and while the meal itself was enjoyable, my overall experience has left me extremely disappointed. That evening, I accidentally left my Burberry reading glasses at the restaurant. I called shortly after and was told they had been found and would be safely held for me. I explained that I wouldn't be able to pick them up right away, and I was assured that wouldn't be a problem. When I went back today to retrieve them, I was told they were missing. The manager said he would "look into it" and update me, These glasses are valuable, and it's incredibly upsetting to be told they were there, only for them to suddenly disappear. I understand that mistakes can happen, but when a business confirms they have a lost item and promises to hold it, there should be accountability. I hope the restaurant takes this situation seriously and follows up appropriately. Until then, I'm left feeling frustrated and disappointed. read more

Each time I have returned to this restaurant both the food and the service have improved. The ambience is always pleasant but the gumbo which is my favorite in the area is spot on. Yesterday I had duck gumbo, which is a special during this season and it is well worth the trip to simply experience this. I enjoy an old-fashioned typically with rye so did not try the maple old-fashioned. I might return just to experience the flavor, but the bourbon which is a whistle pig would not be something that I would necessarily enjoy in an old fashion. The server Miguel C has been someone we have encountered at this restaurant now several times and he is simply excellent. Came here for the first time during Mother's Day Brunch and had a pretty good experience. It was busy, as expected, but we were seated very quickly with a reservation. We also got lucky with a close parking spot, because honestly the LaCenterra area is a madhouse on weekends. While we came during brunch, they still had their main dinner menu available to order from. However, brunch food is my favorite so I stuck with it and got the Cajun omelette along with French toast. The omelette was great, and it was my first time trying a Cajun style one. I also enjoyed the potatoes and cornbread it came with. The French toast was a little less desirable with the type of bread they used (French bread instead of typical sliced toast). Otherwise, I was very pleased with my meal. I would love to come back and try some more items from their regular menu, including trying their famous oysters for the first time. We move to a table for three and the service was good. The oysters are BIG and first time I had fire grilled oysters. I had a 1/2 dozen one of my friends had raw which I tasted and it was good. You come to TX for steak and this one was good. I've had plenty better but this was good. I could have used a little more flavor but I didn't need to add sauce or anything. Cooked to order (medium). Lunch date for Labor Day. I like this location because it has a nice outdoor patio area and a nice bar area. Our waiter Tyler was great and very accommodating. We had a half dozen chargrilled oysters that were delicious but smaller than usual. We had the lunch portion of the creamy pasta with shrimp and the pork ribeye and both were delicious. The BBQ Shrimp were not in a "Buttery" sauce like in NOLA, but it was pretty good. I had the Fried Shrimp dinner. It was a large portion. The shrimp were a bit over cooked, but otherwise pretty good. My husband and I came here once before but it was later and they were kinda shutting down so we wanted to try it again because I really wanted to get some oysters. We found a nice spot at the bar and Sean was very helpful and on point with his knowledge of the menu and things to try. He explained that the oysters they had for the evening were Gulf Oysters from Region 22. That was helpful. I felt that he was a very solid bartender. I ordered the Texas Blueberry Martini which was refreshing and a nice choice. My husband tried a few tastings that they were very helpful with before settling on their Roxpour Private Label White which he really enjoyed. Most of the time, House private labels are more hype than substance so this was a nice surprise. This review is kind of a "Work In Progress," and open for additional comments in the future when we return because all I got were oysters and they were fine but nothing special. I feel like their highlights are the oysters that are prepared like the Chargrilled more than raw oysters. They were maybe a 5 out of a 10. Their regular menu looks good but it's heavy. If I had any suggestions, it would be to have some additional small plates for those who are going lighter and just want some apps. Here, it's kinda go big or go home. Late Galentines dinner with the girls! I've only been to Rouxpour once during brunch, which was over 5 years ago. Decided to give it a try with just vibes. Didn't know happy hour was until 6:30, which was great because we planned for a 6pm dinner. It was actually pretty empty, but the place definitely started to fill up after 7-7:30. Since it was happy hour , I decided to try a little bit of everything. The boudin balls were well flavored and had a great crunch to it. I like the "Christ" eggs with shrimp and sausage on it , but it was a little salty. The cup seafood gumbo was actually pretty good, just wished it came with more rice. My friend got the regular size seafood gumbo and received the same amount I had for a cup. Overall, lovely restaurant. Definitely on the pricer side. read more

Upon arriving at Ror, we were met with pleasant aromas and a lively atmosphere. Several hostesses greeted us amicably and seated us right away - which was a surprise with the busy surroundings outside as well as being 7pm on a Friday night. Our server Rachel came right away and was sweet as pie. She shared with us the specials, one of which was a scallop appetizer atop mushroom risotto and topped with lump crab meat and bure blanc. Although the risotto was on the salty side, both the scallops and the risotto were cooked to perfection! She also shared the rib eye special topped with crab and shrimp with crawfish Mac and cheese (that was DIVINE - perfectly creamy and flavorful, one of my favorite things of the evening, actually), and honey glazed carrots, which was what my hubby chose. I chose the sea bass (recommended by Rachel, and she was right!), with chimmichurri rice, honey glazed carrots, and topped with limp crab and shrimp. The sea bass was cooked to perfection, yet again! These guys know how to cook their seafood! Nothing was overdone or worse, leathery and dry. Everything was complimented well, though two dishes with rice was too much for me, in hindsight I should have subbed the chimmi rice for something else. Hubby had a lovely cab from Caramel road that was very jammy, and I asked about mocktails and was told their bloody mix was outstanding and it DID NOT disappoint, and I'm picky! Lastly, for dessert, we decided to take the duo to go bread pudding on the bananas foster and just had them leave the ice cream off. Even warmed in a pan the next day, it was really great together. I gave them a 4 star because the ambiance and atmosphere was loud and difficult to have a conversation, the tables were really close together and even the staff struggled to squeeze between our table and another, the salty risotto detracted from the perfection of the scallop (and I'm a cook, so I get it, it depends on who's cooking your food), but I'd give them a 4.5 if I could because Rachel was an absolute gem and made our visit absolutely lovely in the service department! We started off with the roux pour and spinach combination chargrilled oysters. I literally could've ordered another dozen and called it my entire meal. They were super creamy and cheesy. It's not oyster season I think so the meats weren't as plumped, but still good! I also ordered the flounder with crab meat. I loved how the flounder had parts that were nice and crunchy. The entire dish was delicious and flavorful! To top everything, we got dessert togo due to being so full. I ordered the chocolate cake which had chunks of cheesecake. Do NOT bring infants or toddlers here. That's my takeaway. Our server was wonderful, kind, attentive, and absolutely not at fault for what happened tonight. The food was good, though the portions were on the smaller side. The oysters were delicious but, again, surprisingly small. Now for the bad. When we saw they had high chairs, we thought, perfect, they must be okay with babies. But apparently, that's not the case. The restaurant is already loud, music blasting by the bar, people laughing, talking, and even a group singing "Happy Birthday." (I couldn't tell if it was staff or just that group of customers.) At one point, our server literally told us she was shouting so we could hear her over the noise of the restaurant. By the end of our meal, our baby had gotten a little fussy, not crying, just his usual loud babbling because he's a little "talker." We were nearly finished anyway when, out of nowhere, someone who appeared to be a manager (not our server) approached our table to "let us know" that we might be bothering other guests. Excuse me? Why speak to us like that? Our baby had been calm and quiet through most of dinner, and we were simply enjoying a family night out like everyone else. We have never felt so embarrassed or disrespected in our lives. The restaurant wasn't quiet to begin with, so for someone to single us out, when our baby wasn't even screaming, was humiliating. If Rouxpour doesn't want infants in their restaurant, that's fine. But: * Don't offer high chairs. Or, let people with infants know they can only sit outside vs indoors. * Put a note on your website, just like you do with your dress code (which, by the way, wasn't even enforced that night). * And most importantly, don't talk down to paying customers whose only crime was a moderately vocal baby in a bustling restaurant. We asked for the check, paid, tipped our lovely server, and left as calmly and respectfully as we'd arrived, which is more than I can say for the management that night. Thank you to our server for your kindness and understanding. I'd give you all the stars if I could. You didn't ruin our night, but the way management handled things absolutely did. I was humiliated and discriminated against... asked to leave my seat AT THE BAR after a female manager and the employees encouraged me to order a drink and wait for next open seat!!!!! However Dave a male manager totally abused his authority by ordering me to give my seat up to a white lady....telling me she had reservations!!!! I stood 45 min for that seat. ALL of the employees were shocked and you could see the disbelief on their faces like they wanted to help me but needed their job more! I've been to the Webster location and wasn't too impressed as the food was extra salty. The Katy location certainly changed my opinion of Rouxpour. The restaurant is located in La Centerra and nearby a pond. So it has some water front table seating. But Thursday night has live music which was an amazing touch. Our service was phenomenal. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and provided quick and above expectation service. She was also a bartender so she made sure our drinks were topped off. Unfortunately we did not get her name. We ordered the cup of seafood gumbo, along with half dozen chargrilled Rockefeller oysters, and split the bayou pork ribeye. Seafood gumbo- 5/5 roux is perfectly flavored and just the right amount of salt but slightly too much rice imo. Garlic bread is perfectly toasted. Plenty of seafood. Rockefeller oysters- 5/5 plenty of toppings and large oyster to go along with it. Served with 3 large pieces of bread. Bayou pork ribeye- 5/5 pork ribeye was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and moist. Came along with snap green beans and roasted potato wedges. The green beans weren't soggy and had a nice crunch. The potato was very well cooked. Came here on a Thursday for dinner and they had live music! It was a very lively restaurant. I've been to the Webster location but this was my first time going to this Katy location. Service was 10/10. Our waitress (unfortunately did not get her name) was amazing. Despite it being a busy night, she was very attentive and food came out in a timely manner. We ordered the seafood gumbo and chargrilled rockefeller oysters as our starters. The seafood gumbo had a bit too much rice for my preference, but I loved the dark roux flavor and it was overall well-seasoned. This is probably my favorite gumbo as a restaurant. The chargrilled rockefeller oysters had LOTS of content on it so I appreciated them giving us slices of bread to eat with it. The oysters were a good size and the topping was creamy but not overwhelming. For our entree, we got the bayou pork ribeye. They automatically split this entree for us on two separate plates which was nice. They serve this in a massive portion that can easily feed 2 people. I absolutely loved this dish. This was definitely on the heavier side but you won't regret ordering it. There was so much flavor and I would classify this as a comfort food type of dish. This was a great first experience at this location and we will definitely come back. I highly recommend this spot for a date night and if you're needing a Cajun food fix. read more

A friend and I decided to meet at The Rouxpour for dinner as it was a halfway point and seemed to have a good menu. Based on the menu and prices, I expected it to be more upscale than it was and felt very overdressed upon arrival. This is very much a place where jeans or even more casual outfits are acceptable and popular. We had reservations and receded quickly at a table of our choosing. Because we got to choose and it had beautiful weather outside we chose to sit on the patio overlooking the water. Our server gave us some time to decide what we wanted to drink and eat and did continually check on us. I ordered the Ruby Red Spritzer to drink which is basically Deep Eddy Vodka, Lemon Juice and Champagne - it was great! The drink was pretty as well as refreshing. We decided against appetizers as we weren't that hungry but for dinner I did order The Rouxpour Salad with Grilled Shrimp. As they had two dressings that sounded incredible, I subbed out the one that came on my salad for those two on the side so I could try them both. I do not love spicy things so the original creole vinaigrette was not my first pic. I did end up trying the white shallot vinaigrette and the blood orange vinaigrette and both were absolutely delicious but the white shallot vinegar was a clear winner. The salad overall was filling and very tasty and I would absolutely order it again. Tha overall experience was good, the service was great and I enjoyed the food.
