This is a pretty cool local Austin joint, and with three locations around the area, I had to stop and try one after seeing so many good reviews. Ordering is a little different. You use the touchscreen kiosk under the covered portico on the side of the building. After you place your order, you enter your phone number, and it gives you your name and order number. Watch for the text message letting you know your food is ready, then pick it up at the front of the building at the pickup window. There's no indoor seating--just covered outdoor seating, which was perfectly fine. They do have a restroom, but it's for paying customers only. I can't remember the name of what I ordered, but it was a huge piece of fried chicken on a biscuit with bacon and sweet barbecue sauce smothered all over it. It was amazing. If that's representative of what they serve, I can see why this place gets so much attention. I didn't order a drink since I already had water with me, so I think I made it out of there for somewhere between $13 and $18. If you're in Austin, you've got to give this place a try. It's a fun local spot with excellent biscuits and a sandwich that's absolutely worth the stop.

This time we ordered 2 bird bird bacon biscuits and a plain biscuit with jelly. The biscuits are always fresh, hot, perfect balance of salted butter, and very tender. The bacon is plentiful, and crispy. None of that half cooked chewy stuff!!! The plain biscuit with jelly has this absolutely delicious strawberry jelly with chunks of yummy strawberries. The staff is always willing to help and assist in anyway possible even though it's more of a window service set up. After 5 visits and all 5 star I will continue to support such an amazing company/brand everytime I come to Austin!!

The Lox n' found croiffin comes with a toasted croissant roll, smoked salmon, ricotta, avocado, arugula, capers, pickled onions and dill. I added an egg for an additional charge of $2. It's a small space, with only around eight tables and a tiny kitchen behind the counter. It's a bit hard to locate from outside. There's no big sign on the window indicating the restaurant's name, just a plastic A-frame sign outside the building's doors. When I got there, four of the eight tables were empty but the dirty dishes had not yet been cleared. It took close to 10 minutes for the tables to be bused. Because the kitchen is so small, I'd recommend going up to the counter to order as soon as you get there. I believe you can also place your order online using the QR code on the table, but I didn't try that method. I ordered the lox n found, a toasted croissant roll with smoked salmon, avocado, dill ricotta, arugula, onion, and capers. The menu says it also comes with a side of roasted potatoes, but mine didn't come with that. The sandwich was delicious and filling, so I definitely didn't need them, but I do feel like I didn't get what I paid for.

The only complaint we had was we wish it was open past 3pm because this menu would rock late night. They don't have their liquor license yet but they are working on it so they hope to have it real soon. Mondays & Tuesdays are sad days for me. lol I still try other places sometimes, but I'm often disappointed. Unfortunately I don't live close by & my town has ZERO middle eastern places to eat. So that's also why I place larger orders. 1. Correction: The meat actually IS cooked and shaved from a spit. But, it's not paper thin and dry like some places tend to be. It's also not chicken breast. It's either thigh or a combination of both. Whatever it is, it's working. It's the best chicken I've ever had. I've tried to recreate it at home 100 times, but it's just not gonna happen. 2. I don't think I've actually ordered from here 40 individual times, but when I do come, I order several wraps. I special order them whole with no sauce or pickles so I can put a couple in the fridge to save for the rest of the week. They don't get soggy that way and are easier to toss in the air fryer or oven later. Then I add sauce & pickles later along with pomegranate molasses. I always keep a bottle handy. (HEB has it) Salam's is always really great about granting those requests for me. 3. They have added their baklava to the online menu. Yay! **If I could add anything to the menu, it would be little cups of pomegranate molasses. Personally, it doesn't affect me because I always get my food to go & I keep a bottle at home. But, I hate that other people might be missing out on it. I mix it with their garlic sauce. When you give your wrap a little dip, then take a bite, it's like a few seconds of heaven on earth. We ordered the prima dora omelet which would have used more filling but it was over all good, the black beans we ordered in the side , we possible the best black beans i've had. While Magnolia Cafe is a longtime South Congress staple and a beloved Austin spot, my visit didn't quite live up to expectations. I met a group here for a pre-show meal and appreciated being seated promptly upon arrival, even though my entire party had not yet arrived. I ordered the chicken caldo soup, which was not served with avocado. The waitress did not check in with us immediately after the food was served but when I inquired about it I noticed there was an up charge on the bill for avocado. I recommend allowing the substitution of the tortilla chips with avocado in the future for a healthier alternative. However chicken caldo traditionally cones with avocado. I also tried the Mag nachos, with tortilla chips topped with black beans, cheddar/jack cheese, jalapeño, tomato, green onion, avocado and sour cream. These were very tasty and unlike the caldo, was served with avocado. The food took a while to come out and the service felt slower than expected. Magnolia has a great reputation, so I was hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, this visit fell short of expectations.
