SCRAMBLE ME SOFTLY* BEER BATTERED POTATOES
    Nicolas J.

Kinda frustrating the last 4 times I've been here I order my usual "rib eye California breakfast burrito" which is good however the last 4 times the meat has been BURNT like not well done but like black and crispy and crunch which I then have to spit out due to the flavor ruining the rest of the burrito. Most recent visit I just pulled out a chunk of steak since it was crispy like well done bacon. The store doesn't take phone orders so I'm forced to use the website, I'd rather pay cash in person but have it ready and that's not an option since calls aren't a thing. It sucks I used to like this place and was a regular when it was new but quality has drastically changed and I'm tired of getting burnt asada burritos.... There also isn't a designated parking spot for their store so I'm usually running in with my hazards on my car to get my food

I'll say I though the food here is ok. Granted the dishes I order required gravy and they already ran out :(

Best part of the meal were the BEER BATTERED POTATOES

Boy oh boy did I have HIGH HOPES for this place but they let me down BIG TIME. First off I don't expect anywhere to come close to the pictures on their advertisements but this sandwich felt RUSHED, and like the cook felt inconvenienced, and just overall didn't give a damn when they made it. Ordered it via Door Dash and I wonder if we got it in person or ate it there at the restaurant if the quality would've been better. It's almost felt like whoever made it knew we probably wouldn't bring the sandwiches back and complain in person so "FCK EM." First off l, in spite of the cost of this sandwich it seems as if they were intentionally STINGY with the eggs. WHY? Look at the pictures of those dining in and or advertisements...there are eggs bursting out the sandwich but the one I got seemed like they were holding back like they had the last eggs on Earth and they had to reserve eggs for future use. The bread was basic and the sandwich was also dry. The only saving grace were their potatoes but for a place where there are two or three other chains doing exactly the same thing this spot does, their side potatoes should not outshine the sandwich! I'm gonna leave the names of the other regional egg sandwich restaurants that make excellent consistent sandwiches no matter which location you go to out of this post (YOU KNOW WHO THEY ARE) but instead end in saying this location and overall establishment has A LOT OF WORK TO DO. For the price, CONSISTENCY should be the SAME across the board regardless of if you dine in, get it to go, Uber Eats, Door Dash etc. Try harder and DO BETTER for your customers.

I've had great food every time I've ordered from Eggbred (the Benny on the rocks and truffle crunch burger are personal favorites). Easily walkable from East Village Arts District, they're a good choice for your breakfast/brunch cravings. Ask for Devon when you visit! He was passing out samples of the beer battered potatoes and scrambled eggs one morning while I was walking my dog nearby. Excellent, friendly service! Only docking one star because one time I came, the fire hydrant and some extra tables/chairs were piled up in one corner by the window - which seems like not the best way to keep this equipment. It's since been fixed, but thought it worthy of mention.

Came by this place for breakfast and was mostly disappointed. The interior was cute and well decorated but the service was well below mediocre, the woman at the front seemed to think we inconvenienced her by placing our order. When the food came out we got burritos that were burnt on one side and cold on the other, and a sandwich with stale, cold bread.

    So much extra tortilla..

I don't normally make reviews but this is a bit concerning. I waited about to be 50 minutes to wait for 3 items that are cold. Don't you think that is kind of weird don't you think? The food tastes okay, but definitely could be a lot better especially with the filling. I ordered the ribeye asada burrito and, in the picture, I had more tortilla than filling. This was my first time here and I don't think I would come again. They were playing some nice music though.

We came in for the grand re-opening under new ownership! The owner was friendly and greeted folks at the door. Interior has cute egg themed decor and a good amount of tables for seating (indoor and outdoor) We got the scramble me softly, which was soft scrambled eggs, cheese, caramelized onions on a toasted Japanese milk bun. The eggs were so soft, fluffy, well salted, and perfectly cooked! The milk bun was nicely buttered and toasted, and surprisingly kept its crunch despite the soft scrambled egg. The caramelized onions added a nice sweetness and umami. Overall a yummy fluffy breakfast sandwich! Lots of other things on their menu, will have to come back another time to try things out!

Came here for the second time today and got the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich and the truffle crunch burger. We also got the beer battered potatoes, which for me personally were the star of the show, but the truffle crunch burger was very good too. For being as busy as it was today, I feel like we still got served pretty quickly. The restaurant itself is very cute and egg themed. The only gripe I have about EggBred is the parking situation, but that's kind of outside their control. The food is good enough to drive around a little to find a spot. Overall, I'm really happy my boyfriend came up with the idea to go to EggBred today!!!

Went in on a Wednesday Morning-ish. Was greated by a nice young lady. She took our order and answered our questions. Place was clean when we arrived. Ordered the BEC sandwich. Had the egg cooked hard. They cook it freash so you need to wait a bit. Lots of bacon on the sandwich, YUMM! I enjoyed the sandwich. Parking was a bit hard as there is no signage for a garage that is on site. I parked in the neigherhood.

Finally gave this place a try, I love a good breakfast spot! Parking is challenge here. It is completely street parking, which is expected for downtown Long Beach, but it is still inconvenient. On a Saturday during the day, parking is competitive and you might need to circle the block a few times before finding a spot. This probably explains why a lot of people seem to pick up their orders and leave quickly rather than dine in. If you are planning to visit during peak hours, just be prepared to spend a little extra time searching for parking. The inside of the restaurant looks completely brand new, which is always a nice first impression, but the atmosphere didn't feel particularly warm or welcoming. Everything was clean and organized, and the space has a modern look, but it still felt a bit empty and not very inviting. For a quick service spot, a clean lobby is usually all you really need, but a little energy or friendliness in the environment can make a big difference, and that was missing here. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted right away. Normally I do not mind waiting, especially if staff members are clearly busy helping other customers, but the situation felt a little awkward. A couple of employees looked at me but didn't acknowledge me, so I wasn't sure if I should wait, walk up to the counter, or help myself to a menu. After a minute or so, the employee who had been on the phone finished the call and greeted me, and she was pleasant, but the initial moment definitely felt uncomfortable. For my meal, I ordered the Bacon Egg and Cheese. It comes with applewood smoked bacon, a fresh cracked over medium egg, sharp cheddar, smoked jalapeno ketchup, and a toasted milk bun. I asked for no jalapeno ketchup, but it ended up being on the sandwich anyway. Thankfully the jalapeno flavor was not too strong, so it did not overpower the sandwich or ruin the experience. The bacon was cooked perfectly with that ideal crispiness that still has a little bite rather than being too crunchy. The egg was cooked in a way that I really enjoyed, not fully fried but slightly runny in a rich and creamy way that blended perfectly with the cheese. The milk bun tied everything together with a soft texture that held up well without getting soggy. I also ordered the Beer Battered Potatoes, which might honestly be my favorite item on the entire menu. They are spiral cut, beer battered, fried until they have a crisp golden exterior, and seasoned with the restaurant's house blend. They have that perfect balance of crispiness on the outside and soft potato on the inside, and they are flavorful enough to eat on their own. They also offer them plain if you prefer something more simple. I could easily come back just for these. Overall, the food was solid and in some cases really impressive, especially the potatoes. The service was polite once it started, though the initial greeting felt off. The environment is clean and new, but it could use a warmer, more inviting feel. Parking is definitely something to keep in mind. I would return for the food, especially if I am already in the area, but there are a few small improvements that could make the overall experience much better.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches, spent $40, waited 25 minutes and the food was cold. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!

What's the parking situation? Street? Private lot?

Only street parking in the area. It can be a bit tough, but check surrounding streets (Lime, 1st, Malta, Medio). It's a short walk.

Not a super huge fan of French cuisine; however, the menu looked good and mostly reasonable prices. Restaurant is super cute with indoor/outdoor seating. We started off with a bottle of cab (41.00, ouch)! We ended up ordering the fondue for the app (24.00) which comes with bite size pieces of bread and diced apples. It was ok, a little too runny and had an interesting hint of beer flavor. Next up we both ordered the brie & prosciutto sandwich which came with a side of au gratin and greens. The sandwich was excellent but the potatoes were cold. We ended our meal sharing creme brulee for dessert. It was good but also served cold. Total bill incl tip: 163.00 bucks (double ouch)! Overall, meal and service was good, but I would forego the wine on a future visit as it was way overpriced for the brand we got as well as the cheese fondue. Will definitely be back though. Everything feels clean, classy and thoughtfully put together. When you first arrive, seeing the line out the door can be a little intimidating. Usually at places like this, I feel like I have to fight for my life to find a table, but thankfully that wasn't the case here. The staff was very kind and asks how many are in your party and helps you get a table, which made everything much less stressful. They also give you menus while you wait so you can decide what you want ahead of time. We arrived at 10:30am and our wait was about 30 minutes so by the time we were able to order at 11am, the lunch menu was also available. I ordered the tater tots, Cinnagave Shaken Espresso, Dutch Baby Pancake and country sourdough toast with jam. With tax and tip, my total came out to around $40. It's definitely pricier than what I normally pay for breakfast. Most entrées range from $17-$34 and coffees are around $5-$10, so you can easily spend $30+ for one person. In these hard times, that's not exactly ideal for me. I also wanted to try a pastry to get the full experience, but when I found out the small blackberry danish was $7, I decided to pass. I just couldn't justify getting that close to $50 for breakfast for one person. Now for the food! The country sourdough toast with jam was actually my favorite item. The homemade sourdough was incredible and honestly deserves its roses. It sounds like such a simple thing, but it was so well done and easily the standout for me. Visually, the Dutch Baby Pancake was beautiful and definitely impressive when it came out. I've always wanted to try one, so I was excited! I will say, I've read everywhere that Dutch babies are supposed to have more of a custardy center and even the photos I've seen look that way. Mine didn't really have that texture at all and tasted more like a crepe. Maybe it was a little overcooked? It wasn't bad, just not quite what I expected. Still delicious! Unfortunately, the tater tots were the biggest disappointment. They weren't crispy, didn't taste seasoned and sort of fell apart until they became one big potato mess. My cousins and I ended up not finishing them. One of my cousins ordered the summer peach and corn salad, which she liked! Just a heads-up that it's only available after 11 a.m. My other cousin got the skillet, she mentioned feeling a little disappointed since it tasted a little dry and didn't finish her plate. However they both ordered the Curious George drink and LOVED it! The Cinnagave Shaken Espresso was also fantastic. Coffee is definitely something they do very well here and I can see myself getting again. Overall, the aesthetics are adorable and I could see this being a great date spot. The coffee was fantastic, the sourdough was amazing, but the rest of the food was just okay for us. That was a little disappointing because everything sounds SO good on paper. Maybe we just caught them on an off day. The prices are probably the biggest thing holding me back from coming back regularly. Spending $30-$40+ per person for breakfast isn't really in my budget right now, but if this is within your price range, you may have a completely different experience. When I review a place, I try to take the overall experience, personal taste and effort into account. For now, I'm leaving Zuzu's Petals at 4 stars because the effort is definitely there, and what isn't my cup of tea may be someone else's liquid gold. I'd still give them another chance in the future... after I get paid!

I never expected to find stellar cocktails and wings inside of a hotel, but you truly never know…read more Let's start with the cocktails; they are KILLING it. The menu has a ton of really detailed options, each drink with its own depth. The menu changes seasonally but what doesn't change is the smoked old fashioned - a must-order. They smoke your drink in a glass container using applewood chips; it's quite a show and it also does make the drink much more enjoyable. Ask the bartender and they can also help guide you to a drink - I've done it a couple of times and always pleasantly surprised. Next up, the food! The hummus was very flavorful and paired with an amazing fluffy pita bread. The truffle fries were solid but the plate was HUGE, definitely needs a friend to share. The Nashville wings are the star of the show. I cannot stress this enough, this is worth a DRIVE for. The seasoning really does remind you of Howlin' Rays (the highest compliment) and the chicken is extremely crispy yet insanely juicy. The pickles and ranch that it comes with pairs so well. Do note that they are tossing it in pork fat, which enhances the depth but also makes it a little greasy at the end. I also wished they'd warn you this and offer to order it without it; especially for those who don't eat pork or for those trying to cut some calories. There's a happy hour menu too!!! So you can get drinks and food even cheaper. I cannot stop thinking about this place. It's such a sleeper. Head to Midnight Oil after a visit to continue your night.

Navy Proof is the restaurant and bar inside the Westin Long Beach lobby. The open atrium with high…read moreceilings and large windows looks impressive, but in the early afternoon the sun made the space feel warm and greenhouse-like. The bartender was excellent. He went into the kitchen for fresh berries, muddled them with Tito's and soda, and made a genuinely refreshing summertime drink that helped with the heat...! I eventually ordered the Crispy Shrimp & Calamari to eat as my main (I was dining alone). I had recently had a very notable version of the same dish at a Canopy by Hilton in Washington DC, and unfortunately, this one did not measure up. The breading was average and the sweet chili aioli was poor. I asked for ranch instead, which was an improvement but still not great. The portion itself was fine. Service was solid and friendly! I'd rate the staff around a 4. Based on the food I had, the kitchen lands closer to a 2.5 to 3. Fine if you're already in the hotel and want something casual, but not an amazing choice for the fried seafood.
