Egg Bred is a cool little breakfast spot downtown if you're looking for something quick and easy in the morning. For me, the breakfast burrito is definitely the way to go. It was really good and easily my favorite thing I tried. I also gave the breakfast sandwiches a shot, and they were alright, but if I came back, I'd skip those and go straight for the burrito. I tried the orange juice too. It was cool, nothing wrong with it, but personally I probably wouldn't get it again. Overall, it's a nice little downtown spot to grab a quick breakfast and keep your day moving. If you're craving a breakfast burrito, that's definitely what I'd recommend getting here. read more

Kinda frustrating the last 4 times I've been here I order my usual "rib eye California breakfast burrito" which is good however the last 4 times the meat has been BURNT like not well done but like black and crispy and crunch which I then have to spit out due to the flavor ruining the rest of the burrito. Most recent visit I just pulled out a chunk of steak since it was crispy like well done bacon. The store doesn't take phone orders so I'm forced to use the website, I'd rather pay cash in person but have it ready and that's not an option since calls aren't a thing. Boy oh boy did I have HIGH HOPES for this place but they let me down BIG TIME. First off I don't expect anywhere to come close to the pictures on their advertisements but this sandwich felt RUSHED, and like the cook felt inconvenienced, and just overall didn't give a damn when they made it. Look at the pictures of those dining in and or advertisements...there are eggs bursting out the sandwich but the one I got seemed like they were holding back like they had the last eggs on Earth and they had to reserve eggs for future use. The bread was basic and the sandwich was also dry. The only saving grace were their potatoes but for a place where there are two or three other chains doing exactly the same thing this spot does, their side potatoes should not outshine the sandwich! I'm gonna leave the names of the other regional egg sandwich restaurants that make excellent consistent sandwiches no matter which location you go to out of this post (YOU KNOW WHO THEY ARE) but instead end in saying this location and overall establishment has A LOT OF WORK TO DO. I've had great food every time I've ordered from Eggbred (the Benny on the rocks and truffle crunch burger are personal favorites). Easily walkable from East Village Arts District, they're a good choice for your breakfast/brunch cravings. Ask for Devon when you visit! He was passing out samples of the beer battered potatoes and scrambled eggs one morning while I was walking my dog nearby. Excellent, friendly service! Only docking one star because one time I came, the fire hydrant and some extra tables/chairs were piled up in one corner by the window - which seems like not the best way to keep this equipment. Just had one of the worst customer service experiences at this location. The cashier was very unprofessional and rude. When I asked her about something on the menu, she snapped at me saying she didn't know what I was talking about. Then completely ignored me and started talking to someone that came in behind me. She had an attitude with that customer as well. Life's too short for bad customer service. I won't be back. I simply left and walked to their competitor, which is only a few steps away. read more

I don't normally make reviews but this is a bit concerning. I waited about to be 50 minutes to wait for 3 items that are cold. Don't you think that is kind of weird don't you think? The food tastes okay, but definitely could be a lot better especially with the filling. I ordered the ribeye asada burrito and, in the picture, I had more tortilla than filling. Interior has cute egg themed decor and a good amount of tables for seating (indoor and outdoor) We got the scramble me softly, which was soft scrambled eggs, cheese, caramelized onions on a toasted Japanese milk bun. The eggs were so soft, fluffy, well salted, and perfectly cooked! The milk bun was nicely buttered and toasted, and surprisingly kept its crunch despite the soft scrambled egg. The caramelized onions added a nice sweetness and umami. Overall a yummy fluffy breakfast sandwich! We also got the beer battered potatoes, which for me personally were the star of the show, but the truffle crunch burger was very good too. For being as busy as it was today, I feel like we still got served pretty quickly. The restaurant itself is very cute and egg themed. The only gripe I have about EggBred is the parking situation, but that's kind of outside their control. The food is good enough to drive around a little to find a spot. I asked them if they even worked on the sausage breakfast sandwich & she said no. At that point, it was beyond frustrating--it was ridiculous. The entire place felt completely unorganized. Whether the staff was inexperienced, high on something, or recovering from the rave festival the day before, there's no excuse for running a business like this. Then it took another 10 minutes just to process a refund, with employees aimlessly tapping the screen & clearly not knowing what they were doing. Even with the pager (#13), they couldn't figure out our order & had to ask for the last four digits of the card. Meanwhile, someone with pager #06 was only just getting a single item. Finally gave this place a try, I love a good breakfast spot! Parking is challenge here. It is completely street parking, which is expected for downtown Long Beach, but it is still inconvenient. On a Saturday during the day, parking is competitive and you might need to circle the block a few times before finding a spot. This probably explains why a lot of people seem to pick up their orders and leave quickly rather than dine in. If you are planning to visit during peak hours, just be prepared to spend a little extra time searching for parking. The inside of the restaurant looks completely brand new, which is always a nice first impression, but the atmosphere didn't feel particularly warm or welcoming. Everything was clean and organized, and the space has a modern look, but it still felt a bit empty and not very inviting. For a quick service spot, a clean lobby is usually all you really need, but a little energy or friendliness in the environment can make a big difference, and that was missing here. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted right away. Normally I do not mind waiting, especially if staff members are clearly busy helping other customers, but the situation felt a little awkward. A couple of employees looked at me but didn't acknowledge me, so I wasn't sure if I should wait, walk up to the counter, or help myself to a menu. After a minute or so, the employee who had been on the phone finished the call and greeted me, and she was pleasant, but the initial moment definitely felt uncomfortable. For my meal, I ordered the Bacon Egg and Cheese. It comes with applewood smoked bacon, a fresh cracked over medium egg, sharp cheddar, smoked jalapeno ketchup, and a toasted milk bun. I asked for no jalapeno ketchup, but it ended up being on the sandwich anyway. Thankfully the jalapeno flavor was not too strong, so it did not overpower the sandwich or ruin the experience. The bacon was cooked perfectly with that ideal crispiness that still has a little bite rather than being too crunchy. The egg was cooked in a way that I really enjoyed, not fully fried but slightly runny in a rich and creamy way that blended perfectly with the cheese. The milk bun tied everything together with a soft texture that held up well without getting soggy. I also ordered the Beer Battered Potatoes, which might honestly be my favorite item on the entire menu. They are spiral cut, beer battered, fried until they have a crisp golden exterior, and seasoned with the restaurant's house blend. They have that perfect balance of crispiness on the outside and soft potato on the inside, and they are flavorful enough to eat on their own. They also offer them plain if you prefer something more simple. I could easily come back just for these. Overall, the food was solid and in some cases really impressive, especially the potatoes. The service was polite once it started, though the initial greeting felt off. The environment is clean and new, but it could use a warmer, more inviting feel. Parking is definitely something to keep in mind. I would return for the food, especially if I am already in the area, but there are a few small improvements that could make the overall experience much better. read more

I thought I heard the staff say 2 mins so I checked back with 10 mins later. Order still not ready. Apparently there was a mix up with my order. 25 mins later still not ready. People that ordered in person received their food before me! The staff lack customer service and have poor communication skills. I received no apology. After almost an hour ordering my food online it wasn't ready "it was on the grill" I was in a rush and was not able to wait any longer for my food. Not sure what's going on with this location but when I visited this place last year the food was great! This time things were noticeably bad. For one, the drink fountains for the Orange juice and teas were low to the point where it was foaming. As someone who had worked in food service before that's a big no no! Additionally, more than four patrons including my group waited over 40 minutes for their food. When we received our food, we noticed that the grill wasn't cleaned because there was bits of black residue on the meat and eggs. The place was clearly understaffed. The cashier did their best to make up for the dissatisfaction by giving us free drink vouchers. However, it is painfully obviously when management isn't supporting their staff. Management needs do a better job at supporting their staff so this scenario doesn't happen again. read more

This is a great place to stop by for breakfast or lunch after you run or work out at the beach. It is only a few steps away. You can go for a walk and run then come have some food. There is plenty of seating indoor/outdoor. Or you can take it with you to the beach and have a view. The service was great. Friendly and helpful. My favorite of what I tried was the Breakfast Burrito. i got the Ribeye burrito and it was not disappointed. I tried both salsas green/red and I preferred the red. I want to come back for Lunch. First went to this place a few months ago, it's been here awhile, I just hadn't gotten around to it as I was Vegan adjacent, but now the girl eats EGGS (Thank Goddess). After my first trip I was like, this place is so good, I bet it closes...as most good things in DTLB do. Sure as @&$!, I went back 2 months ago having placed an on-line order, and they were literally clearing out the restaurant! I was like WTF?! The had a sign outside that said they were Re-Opening the next week, which they did - under new ownership - and they're once again pumping out Scratch Kitchen gloriousness. I'm a sucker for eggs and bacon, but they also have bennies - which is basically biscuits, gravy and your choice of deliciousness. I arrived about 10 minutes after the pickup time but was told my order still wasn't ready because there were two orders ahead of mine. No problem--I understood they were busy. After waiting another 30 minutes, I had to leave and asked to cancel my order. They initially voided the wrong order, and when I asked for a receipt, the cashier became rude. He told me that if I wanted my order on time, I should order before 10 a.m. I told him I simply wouldn't be ordering there again. His response was, "I don't care. The first time I came I got thru breakfast bacon burrito and it was AMAZING! my husband and I were excited to come back and decided to ride our bikes since last time we had to park in a loading area. My husband got what he ordered before which was the fried chicken egg sandwich. He had no complaints-same as previously ordered. I decided to get their sausage breakfast burrito to try something new, my tortilla was cold with no brown markings like they show on their IG videos. Not sure if that was something I had to ask for while ordering but since I never asked for it on my bacon burrito i expected the same. Another thing is my bacon burrito you would taste the bacon in every bite. My burrito today was mostly egg and cheese and potato's. I had to dig for the sausage. The guy at the front was amazing though- I regret not getting his name to give him the praise he deserves. I came this morning to try to get a quick meal before doing a beach clean up for earth day. It was not a quick stop. I waited 45Mins+ for my food. There was only one person in front of me and I got my food before them. While waiting there were others so came after and while walking out made a comment of how long I waited and that this is their 2nd time coming and the wait has always been long so it seems like a common occurrence. I got the ribeye asada. Asked for the burrito to be cut in half, they did not. Asked for two salsas, got one. The burrito itself was tasty though. I also got a biscuit and gravy also but did not like it. Biscuit was hard/dry. The gravy also didn't have sausage gravy flavor. It was more orange and didn't not have much flavor which was needed to help with the dry biscuit. However the customer service was great. Devon helped give some recommendations and was very friendly. In fact, I still think the food is tasty BUT I just received my second order albeit via Uber Eats however, the order was not fulfilled properly. I ordered the Country Fried Chicken Sandwich and there was no sandwich in my bag at all. I also ordered the Chorizo Chili Cheese Hash that is to come with a poached egg and there was no egg on the hash. I asked for sauce on the side and the hash was swimming in sauce. Been wanting to try this spot for a while--it's tucked away on a corner in DTLB! Came on a early weekday morning so I was lucky to find some parking in the neighborhood but just know it can be difficult to find street parking here, the building is sort of attached to hotel/apartments. It was pretty busy inside, so you know it's popular--decor and seating were pretty cute. Service was really friendly and prompt! EggBred has one of those menus where everything absolutely looks and sounds delicious. I got the Smothered Yard Pimp burrito. It was certainly massive (partially because it's not as "tightly wrapped" as you would expect, making it a bit looser and larger) and it's (literally and) culinarily heavy. On the flip side of everything sounding super delicious, that means a lot of the ingredients make the dish sort of "impossible" to taste bad. Surprisingly, it didn't feel overly greasy given the ingredients on this one--which is impressive in itself. But, the flavor and texture combinations on this burrito sort of all blend into each other, so I wouldn't personally get this again. The gravy also felt like it had all been placed mostly on certain parts of the burrito. Perhaps if the ingredients "melded" together more before they get placed in the burrito, it would work better. The potatoes overall were not that crispy, so there wasn't quite enough textural variation in the burrito. The green salsa verde that's included is pretty tasty. I did eat it to-go 15 minutes later, but I don't think that'd really make it taste that much worse. Given the burrito was loose, it got slightly messy to eat sometimes given the gravy. It reminds me of this time where I bought a burrito to eat in the car for lunch, and had a date later. Unfortunately, that burrito was also messy, and a couple pieces of food fell onto the bottom of my shirt, leaving a stain that I couldn't really get out and I didn't have time to change after work. Later that night, my date asked me why I had a stain at the bottom of my shirt. I told her it was from a burrito at lunch. She didn't believe me, and told me she doesn't date guys who eat burritos in their car. Bummer! But it was worth it, the burrito was good. I came here to grab breakfast before heading to the aquarium with no expectations, since I've never heard of this place. It was my friends who wanted to try this spot, assuming they saw it on social media. When we arrived, it was pretty empty, probably because it was still early in the morning. We ordered 3 burritos (1 Plain Jane at $9.99 and 2 Ribeye Asada at $17.49 each). The total with tax was ~$50. Okay, so for the price paid, I was expecting something more than what it turned out to be. The burrito felt heavy, so I thought it would be filled with goodness, but after a few bites I realized the weight was coming from all the potatoes they put into the burritos. The other thing I thought was strange was that they you give you 1 small container of their sauce. I ate half of my burrito without the sauce, it was pretty dry and salty. The potatoes claim to be beer battered, but tasted like soggy potato wedges. No crisp at all. Dry and salty. I forgot this place was called "EGG" bred since eggs were pretty much non-existent. I joked that this place should re-name to PotatoBred. Also, given the store "believes people deserve something better: quality ingredients, made from scratch, freshly cooked, handcrafted, consistent, and served with a smile!"
