I've been here twice now since I live nearby, and the food has been consistently fresh, flavorful, and made with care. There's a lot to love here--but there are also some pretty significant operational gaps keeping it from being a 5-star experience for me. Coming in on a Sunday morning and being poured old cold brew, then being told there's no ice and it'll take an hour to make some, is disappointing. On another visit, we waited about 45 minutes for breakfast sandwiches while the restaurant appeared to be only about 20% full. Those are things that feel less like a food or service issue and more like some management opportunities that need to be addressed. That said, here's why I'm still giving them 4 stars: 1. The team members are fantastic. Everyone I've interacted with--and that's at least four different people--has been friendly, courteous, and welcoming. That goes a long way with me. 2. The food is consistently great. The breakfast sandwiches are elevated, flavorful, and absolutely worth coming back for. 3. I learned from the locals! This time I ordered online for pickup, and that seems to be the move. My food was ready, packaged perfectly in a sealed bag, and had everything I needed. So take this review however you'd like. There are definitely some opportunities here, but if you navigate around them, skip the stale cold brew, grab a bottled beverage, and place your food order in advance, you're probably going to love it! Customer service was alight. I mean the cashier took our order but after that it was all down hill from there. My husband and I waited 30 minutes for our sandwiches and when we finally got them they were not hot. It seemed like they had been sitting for a while.You can tell because my cheese was not melted. We also had ordered coffees and when they brought us our order initially it did not have them. So, when we asked, about them they were able to give us one coffee and had to make a new batch for the other. However, both coffees had coffee grounds in them. We had to throw the whole coffee away. Kinda frustrating the last 4 times I've been here I order my usual "rib eye California breakfast burrito" which is good however the last 4 times the meat has been BURNT like not well done but like black and crispy and crunch which I then have to spit out due to the flavor ruining the rest of the burrito. Most recent visit I just pulled out a chunk of steak since it was crispy like well done bacon. Easily walkable from East Village Arts District, they're a good choice for your breakfast/brunch cravings. Ask for Devon when you visit! Interior has cute egg themed decor and a good amount of tables for seating (indoor and outdoor) We got the scramble me softly, which was soft scrambled eggs, cheese, caramelized onions on a toasted Japanese milk bun. The eggs were so soft, fluffy, well salted, and perfectly cooked! The milk bun was nicely buttered and toasted, and surprisingly kept its crunch despite the soft scrambled egg. The caramelized onions added a nice sweetness and umami. Overall a yummy fluffy breakfast sandwich! Let me start off with the only positive thing of my visit which was the friendliness and energy of the guy working the counter. He was very upbeat and just zipping all over the place making sure things were clean and stocked. With that said, this was one of the more disappointing breakfast experiences I've had. The flavors were good but just about everything we ordered was wrong. My wife's sandwich was supposed to have an over easy egg inside but it was so overcooked it may as well have been hard boiled. I ordered the breakfast poutine which was missing both the eggs and the cheese on top. The server told me that it was because they were out of poached eggs which I thought was strange but decided to let it go. They offered to substitute so I asked for the soft scrambled eggs. Those ended up having a weird texture that made them inedible. Parts of it were overcooked and very rubbery, and other parts very much undercooked, practically raw. I decided to cut my losses and asked for one of their biscuits to go. What I got was 2 slices of ciabatta bread instead. While waiting for our food, I noticed that other orders were either missing things or contained incorrect items. I don't know if the people in the kitchen weren't paying attention or didn't care. We also got the beer battered potatoes, which for me personally were the star of the show, but the truffle crunch burger was very good too. Finally gave this place a try, I love a good breakfast spot! Parking is challenge here. It is completely street parking, which is expected for downtown Long Beach, but it is still inconvenient. On a Saturday during the day, parking is competitive and you might need to circle the block a few times before finding a spot. This probably explains why a lot of people seem to pick up their orders and leave quickly rather than dine in. If you are planning to visit during peak hours, just be prepared to spend a little extra time searching for parking. The inside of the restaurant looks completely brand new, which is always a nice first impression, but the atmosphere didn't feel particularly warm or welcoming. Everything was clean and organized, and the space has a modern look, but it still felt a bit empty and not very inviting. For a quick service spot, a clean lobby is usually all you really need, but a little energy or friendliness in the environment can make a big difference, and that was missing here. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted right away. Normally I do not mind waiting, especially if staff members are clearly busy helping other customers, but the situation felt a little awkward. A couple of employees looked at me but didn't acknowledge me, so I wasn't sure if I should wait, walk up to the counter, or help myself to a menu. After a minute or so, the employee who had been on the phone finished the call and greeted me, and she was pleasant, but the initial moment definitely felt uncomfortable. For my meal, I ordered the Bacon Egg and Cheese. It comes with applewood smoked bacon, a fresh cracked over medium egg, sharp cheddar, smoked jalapeno ketchup, and a toasted milk bun. The bacon was cooked perfectly with that ideal crispiness that still has a little bite rather than being too crunchy. The egg was cooked in a way that I really enjoyed, not fully fried but slightly runny in a rich and creamy way that blended perfectly with the cheese. The milk bun tied everything together with a soft texture that held up well without getting soggy. I also ordered the Beer Battered Potatoes, which might honestly be my favorite item on the entire menu. They are spiral cut, beer battered, fried until they have a crisp golden exterior, and seasoned with the restaurant's house blend. They have that perfect balance of crispiness on the outside and soft potato on the inside, and they are flavorful enough to eat on their own. They also offer them plain if you prefer something more simple. I could easily come back just for these. Overall, the food was solid and in some cases really impressive, especially the potatoes. The service was polite once it started, though the initial greeting felt off. The environment is clean and new, but it could use a warmer, more inviting feel. Parking is definitely something to keep in mind. This is a great place to stop by for breakfast or lunch after you run or work out at the beach. It is only a few steps away. You can go for a walk and run then come have some food. There is plenty of seating indoor/outdoor. Or you can take it with you to the beach and have a view. The service was great. Friendly and helpful. My favorite of what I tried was the Breakfast Burrito. i got the Ribeye burrito and it was not disappointed. I tried both salsas green/red and I preferred the red. I want to come back for Lunch. I had somewhere to be so I asked the girl at the front for a refund. She had a snarky attitude and told me I would receive my refund in 37 days. When I walked in, I shared I was there to pickup an online order. The cashier shared they don't accept orders an hr before closing both in person or online, and that they never received my order in the first place. When we received our food, we noticed that the grill wasn't cleaned because there was bits of black residue on the meat and eggs. The place was clearly understaffed. Very disappointed, no staff, horrible, my boyfriend and I decided to place an online order we placed it at 10:06 MIND YOU we ordered on time. We waited for 45 minutes for our order just to never recieve it. The order was never completed the workers gave us a refund so we waited our time waiting on food to never recieve it.
