Saturday, 18.11.03 I've been eyeing Duck Donuts since I first saw the store in Duck, NC over a decade ago. But never ventured in until this week. Three days ago I made my first foray into a Duck Donuts store. I asked about Boston Crème Doughnuts and was told they have no filled doughnuts. Bummer. I like DD a lot. I'd like them even better if they had Boston Crème Doughnuts. So I settled for 2 glazed and 2 powdered doughnuts. I sat at one of their tables and waited perhaps 10 minutes for my order to be filled. Then it came up. I was given a warm and aromatic box, paid $6.21, and was on my way. The next morning I enjoyed one of the glazed doughnuts with my coffee. And the next morning I enjoyed a powdered doughnut with my coffee. Very good doughnuts, but I wish they had lined my box with waxed paper. All the doughnuts stuck to the bare paperboard. I guess that's the downside of not snarfing them down when they're hot out of the deep fryer or oven. The store was clean, did not smell cloyingly sweet, and personnel were friendly. Parking was easy in the communal lot. I'll be back. I'd like to give their chocolate glazed doughnuts, and possibly other items, a taste. read more

Holy cow. I love donuts. Probably too much for my own good. If it comes in the form of a donut, I'll probably eat it. But this place? This is a world all on its own. So, Duck Donuts doesn't have a case filled with the donuts they made that morning. Those sad cases half-empty with the hopes and dreams that once were. NO. They make their donuts TO ORDER. Like, hot and crispy and doughy and delicious. I got a lemon donut and I wish that I had a before and after picture of my face. I didn't know love until this donut. I didn't know happiness before this donut. That may seem like a tall tale. But it was fabulous. Pa got a bunch of other donuts that I didn't try. Because why would I? Once you meet your soul mate, you don't go looking for another one, right? We went back 3 times on our vacation which is unheard of in our family. UNHEARD OF. G even got a Duck Donuts T-shirt. What a local gem! My son picked up FRESH WARM donuts for us this morning. He selected a variety. I really enjoyed these cake donuts. They aren't super heavy or too dense. The flavors were delicious. I sampled a blueberry, raspberry and another tasty treat. My husband had the bacon topped donut. He's not sure he would select that one in the future. My son is thrilled with the maple covered choice. With coffee, these were perfect for a warm toasty breakfast. My DIL has a severe peanut allergy and they took care to label the box and not pollute the donuts. Nicely boxed in a fairly sturdy box. Great job Duck Donuts. We will be back! read more

While planning for a vacation I found a blog that mentioned Duck donuts and put it on my must try list, well I couldn't be happier that we tried it! we liked it so much the first day that we went back the next! The staff was super friendly and helpful. We ordered 6 donuts and watched them being made, and I mean made from the batter right down to the toppings. These could not be any fresher! The best donuts I have ever had! I normally eat in a different restaurant every day for all meals, to really try the local food. This was an exception! We had doughnuts for breakfast at duck donuts EVERY DAY!! My kids looked forward to it every morning and so did I! The doughnuts were hot and fresh with a slightly toasted, crispy outside and a soft, melt in your mouth inside. My favorite was the pumpkin streusel and pumpkin roll doughnuts. I made my own combination one morning with maple, peanuts and caramel. They are all good. The coffee is good too. There aren't any flavored lattes, just regular coffee, but that was fine with me. Went to first Duck Donuts in Hershey, PA years ago. We (a family of 5 with 3 little kids) loved it. Flash forward to today. While on vacation in the area we find another Duck Donuts. Oh my goodness! I usually prefer raised donuts because I grew up eating donuts from a competitor. I tried cake donuts from a popular competitor that were okay. This was the best though. I can select my toppings and have a different tasty experience each and every time. The donuts were hot and fresh. We also had NO idea that the restaurant was so popular, yet we were thankful to order online. We saw the room FULL and saw our order on the counter. What a bonus. Great service and product! It was just super slow when I was the only one who was waiting. The lady who made my donuts took so long to put drizzles and toppings, my donuts weren't warm or hot by the time I got them. Virginia Beach location taste better(way better because they make it really quick so it's still warm or hot!!) and the service is better in VB as well. I only go to this Williamsburg location just because it's way closer to me. I would give FIVE STARS to VB location but not this location :( ‍ The vibe is so different than the VB location. Oh my donuts!! These fried delicacies are such a pleasure here. We got the dozen (we're a family of 7) and made our own. The donuts were made to order and served warm. The standout for me was definitely the maple bacon topping, though the mint Oreo was also delicious. The place is decorated so cutely with rubber duckies and custom pictures. I also strongly suggest the southern pecan coffee. It's so smooth and barely needs sugar when eaten with the donuts. The service here was friendly and fast. We had 12 donuts in less than 10 minutes. Amazing deliciousness!!!!! I have never had a freshly made... wonderfully warm from the fryer...cake donut ...before visiting Duck Donuts. Now I wonder if I will want anything else. Each donut is made to order. When you walk in you choose the number of plain donuts that you want and pick a coating, topping and a drizzle of your liking. We decided on a peanut butter coated with a chocolate drizzle, chocolate dipped with a coconut topping, cinnamon coated with a salted caramel drizzle and a maple dipped with bacon toppings. Although each donut was scrumptious in its own right the cinnamon donut with the salted caramel coating was the absolute best combination. The staff was outstanding and the store was clean. They get four stars because the bathroom was completely destroyed and was extremely disgusting. Trash covered the floor. Between the sink and the toilet broken plastic parts of some sort laid in a puddle of something greasy looking.
