They make hot fresh donuts and you pick out what you want for toppings. The idea is great. I didn't care for the cake like type donut. It was heavy and greasy tasting. While on vacation, stopped here to surprise my kids for breakfast. I ordered the duck dozen, they were amazing!! They were made in front of me, the cake donut was soft and moist, had great flavor and were still warm when I get them back to my kids! The dozen lasted about 10 minutes! I will definitely have to see if there is a location on the west coast!! You can have them topped/sprinkled/glazed with however many ingredients you like - go crazy! We got a box of 6 and just mix and matched since you can't go wrong here. Two and a half stars. Service is polite, iced tea is unsweetened. Maple bacon donut will leave you feeling like you had a hearty breakfast. Too much oil soaked into the cake-style donut. While I appreciate real crumbled bacon instead of salad bits, most morsels were damp and not fully rendered, plus I got a scorched bit. Chocolate was rich and otherwise boring. Small in size and streamlined in format, the basic premise featuring a single wheat and corn flour base fried in soybean oil with several frostings and topping added to suit each customer's taste, Duck Donuts lives by the promise of the "freshest donut anywhere," and true to their word it was only after I placed a four part order that each ring marched down the conveyor-belt, flipped onto the drying rack, and received a quick pat before being dipped, topped, boxed, and placed into my hands - the whole process a mere three minutes from payment to first bite. Obviously piping hot, something others should bear in mind when considering the three minute comment above as that first bite resulted in one of those 'oh damn, chewing with mouth open to let it cool off' moments, it was in four different varieties of toppings that our tasting progressed and although each base was expectedly consistent and downright delicious the frostings were unfortunately a bit one-note, the 'vanilla' unfortunately just the flavor of sugar with strawberry mostly the same while the lemon was slightly sour and the maple featured light syrup notes beneath the salted nuts. read more

The maple bacon donuts are a must-have. It's like eating a fresh, warm, syrupy pancake with a side of bacon. You know, if that pancake had been deep-fried first. We also got the peanut butter topping with chocolate sprinkles, the strawberry topping, the chocolate topping with chocolate sprinkles, and the lemon topping. All were absolutely amazing. After having many donuts in dc, Chicago and a few other cities, was happy to find that yelpers didn't disappoint in leading us to duck donuts in Williamsburg. The shop is super cute - and as some photos show, you can watch the donuts being fried and drip-dried as you wait for your hot fresh donuts! There was plenty of table space on a Sunday morning, and my order was ready in less than ten minutes. All donuts are cake donuts - and man, were they melt in your mouth good! They were just soft enough and not dense or dry as some cake donuts are wont to be. They were a bit soft and had just the right amount of sweetness to allow for the glaze (you choose from a menu) and topping (your choice again). I ordered just two donuts - the maple bacon glaze with bacon topping due to the amazing reviews here and a plain glazed donut - my baseline for all donut assessment. They are all cake donuts (which is not my favorite) but the unique toppings change everything. I had the orange cream donut. Excellent. My husband and I had heard that this was the best place to get donuts. Apparently the people on his ship rave about them all day, so while we were around we decided it was a good time to stop and try for ourselves. When we walked in I was surprised to see they were made to order. You pick your toppings and they make it then. We ended up ordering three a piece since it's not close to our house, i can tell you these donuts are awesome. You have so many different choices, my favorite is the strawberry icing, it was to die for! Next time I come all of them will have it. Yum! They also sell a bunch of little rubber ducks, they are adorable. Anytime we are in the area we will definitely stop, they are way tastier than dunkin donuts or any other chain we've been to. personally I don't like donuts too much, but I worked at the subway next door and got to know the owner. Very kind woman. She would often give our staff free donuts if she had leftover after the shop had closed. Very kind. Heard she treats employees very well and offers better starting pay. As far as the donuts go, they are smaller than average donuts, a little pricey, but not crazy expensive by any means. Lots of different kinds to choose from. Try them all, see what you like.
