The General Store on Richmond Road is a shop filled with Simply Southern attire, garden flags, and Williamsburg-themed souvenirs. Visitors to the area should definitely visit here to find a gift to remind them of their trip. Located inside the store is Bubba's Ice Cream. They offer many flavors and one non-dairy option which is a sorbet. Their milkshakes also are in demand. When we visited, they had three staff scooping, and the line moved quickly. This is a popular spot, as they have a BOGO coupon in the visitors' magazine. The General Store had Fife and Drum performers playing from 7-9 pm entertaining guests in the comfortable porch. This is a fun place to visit, shop, and enjoy some ice cream. read more

I asked for a regular cup (2 scoops) and the kind lady loaded up the cup with 4 scoops. The ice cream was very delicious. My husband ordered a cookies and cream shake and he really enjoyed it as well. They have a small seating area inside with tons of candy options & is located inside the general store. read more

The portion sizes were so large, I spilled some on the countertop, buying my daughter, a kitchen magnet! All of us ordered the smallest portions, and yet were very surprised at how large and how much ice cream we got. My Rocky Road Sunday was amazing, and very flavorful. The ice cream is in the middle of a very charming store, selling a lot of local souvenirs, and the staff were all extremely friendly. Covid precautions taken.....however due to it being a store and the seating was indoors it shouldn't be near the order area can't keep the social distancing. Was inside the Williamsburg General Store. The employee should be considerate with customers and not place the utensil (my spoon) on the counter where people touch and etc. He then pointed out to my BF that he already gave me one when he requested another one for me. Seem as if he had an attitude from this point we just left. We depended on yelp for local polar... thankful ice cream taste was rich and good. This location is inside of the Williamsburg General Store. There were 3 younger kids working at the time and they were very nice and helpful. The ice cream isn't the most flavorful that I've ever had, but it was good. If you purchase something at the trading g post across the street, you get a coupon for buy one get on free on the ice cream, which is great because the waffle cone was $7. read more

I recently stopped at Bubbas when we were in Williamsburg. I had a coupon for a buy one get one free. I had a dipped waffle cone with mocha chip ice cream, my wife had a waffle cone with chocolate chip ice cream, my youngest had vanilla ice cream in a bowl, and my oldest had a peanut butter sundae. With the coupon our bill was $25.00 so yes, it's a little pricey which is why I took off a star. There was a 15 minute wait to get our order (long line). Workers were friendly and attentive. The shop itself was very clean and inviting. There were 30 different flavors of ice cream. I would consider stopping again for a treat in the area. Yes, it's a little pricey but I'll pay a little extra for a non-chain type place. read more

After getting some coupons at our resort to try their ice cream, we decided to come in to try it after our dinner. They are located inside the Williamsburg General Store and across the street from Ripleys. The workers were friendly and explained the coupon we brought in. We ended up trying the strawberry milkshake and a cup of regular chocolate peanut butter swirl. My husband didn't care for the milkshake but my ice cream was delicious and packed high for a regular size! I would come back to try more of their flavors. read more

Bubba's Ice Cream Shack is tucked away inside the Williamsburg General Store. The ice cream is Edy's and was fine, but nothing extraordinary. The waffle cone was very good, light and fresh. Maybe we've been spoiled by local creameries in our area. It's pretty pricey, but okay if you use a BOGO coupon from one of the guide books or online. I absolutely love ice cream, the fact that I left mine 1/2 eaten tells you something. At first I got chocolate and vanilla, took one bite of it and realise something wasn't right. Apparently I had chosen a sugarfree ice cream and it was absolutely terrible. I really wish that the staff had just said something like "you realise that is a sugar free ice cream". There was a sign however I did not see it, So of course they charged me another six dollars to get my new chosen flavour of just normal chocolate. This ice cream just wasn't good I can't explain it was thick and gooey almost like it was made with corn syrup or something. They had two booths you could sit at, that is if you could squeeze in them. Didn't care for the atmosphere, they had hand made dingy little paper signs with water stains and just dirty. It was a very untidy atmosphere, unprofessional service, uncomfortable tables and just not good ice cream for $6 dollars for a single scoop! Oh I forgot to mention the spoons! The spoons were the cheapest plastic utensil I have ever used in my life. Like it was honestly a struggle to try to get my ice cream out of the cup and spoon was like a wet noodle or something it was crazy! read more

We arrive in Williamsburg on the Friday evening of Memorial Day weekend, and it was time for some ice cream. Luckily I selected this amazing spot! The ice cream shop is in a very cool store that has a massive Simply Southern section as well as a great selection of veteran and service member stuff, all very cool. The ice cream was great! I got a waffle cone that was absolutely loaded with all that I wanted and my two sons got some great Sundaes!! Great place to spend some time and we spent some money in that store!! The store itself was beautiful. We had a coupon buy one get one free, there were 4 of us 2 regular cones and 2 sugar cones the girl charger us for 6, $37 dollars and when we asked about it she said "I used the coupon" & nothing about the overcharge of $$.
