We came in tonight for cookies, and the experience was unacceptable. First, the weekly flavors in-store didn't match what was advertised online. Then, while there was only one employee working, the bigger issue wasn't just speed, it was complete lack of organization and service. Our first orders came out, but my cookie ice cream sandwich had barely any ice cream compared to my husband's. Like not even a scoop of ice cream it was like a spoonful. For $14, that's inexcusable. We then placed an order for four cookies. Instead of finishing our order, the employee repeatedly prioritized a large family behind us. She asked what we had ordered "said the system didn't register it" but when one person stepped away briefly, she chose to serve other customers which included giving away the exact cookies we had already ordered. When our friend came back (not even 5 min later) we were told the cookies we ordered were no longer available. Instead of addressing the mistake or offering a solution, she continued serving multiple other customers while we waited nearly an hour with no resolution and no refund. While it's clear she was overwhelmed, that does not excuse the lack of basic service, communication, or accountability. No business should be operating with one employee if this is the result. After having lunch nearby in Williamsburg last Saturday, Sophia and I drove here to check out desserts. Knowing we don't travel here much, seeing what the area has as options was a much needed relief. Let's see how the visit went. This business actually started Chris Knight Jr, who was a high school student from the 'Burg who balanced life as a student, being involved in athletics and having a passion for baking sweets. The flagship store opened up in 2022 and receive a good amount of publicity. He even opened up another location in Henrico with a 3rd spot reportedly in the works. He's now a student at Morehouse College. Great stuff indeed!! The Williamsburg spot is beautiful. The walls were painted great, the tables are spotless and on the counter was a collection of cookies that were made for the week. The only permanent selection was chocolate chip, but the rest were temporary. Sophia decided no on cookies, but you know how I am. Trying anything is possible. I selected a Biscoff cookie, which was crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. The cookie itself wasn't too sweet and large enough to fill a saucer plate. I heard about Cookie Chris through Richmond news and was excited to give the original location a try. Upon walking in you're immediately engulfed in the smell of cookies. The menu is straightforward. They have a display of this week's cookies and several options for different counts. They also have 12 flavors of ice cream. A single cookie is $4.49, a 4-pack is $17, a 6-pack is $24, and a 12-pack is $42. We tried 4 different flavors and they were all very soft and warm. The chocolate lava was very chocolatey as expected. The rest could've used more flavor. The banana caramel was our favorite because it's unique. Their cookies are so good! Nice and big and they warm them up and there's nothing like a warm cookie. The decor is fun and the inside is small. It was my first time here. They greeted us as we walked in and asked everyone they served if it was their first time. If it was your first time she took the time to explain the menu and the cookie flavors of the day. Cookie Chris opened in Williamsburg in 2022 on Richmond Road. After passing it many times, I finally went in and purchased four cookies, which were Pecan, Cinnamon Bun, Cornbread, and Mint Chocolate. They change flavors every Friday. The helpful clerk went into the back to retrieve, heat, and box my cookies. At $3.99 per cookie (discount when you buy four or a dozen), I expected to bite into the best cookie I ever tasted. While they are good cookies, $3.99 is a lot for one cookie. The cookies are pretty thin, though they are 4 to 5 inches in diameter. The shop itself is cute with bright blue walls and neon signs. They also offers a variety of ice cream flavors and milkshakes. Staff greeted us in a loud friendly manner as soon as we walked in the door. We were vacationing in the area and had driven by a few times and decided to give this local business a try! So glad we did. We tried a 4 pack and got the chocolate chip, the oatmeal chocolate chip x2 (my favorite) and the Oreo. All were good sized and warm and delicious when we got them. Was in the area going to Busch gardens and this place was beside my hotel. I am so glad that I stumbled upon it. When you walk in you are immediately hit with the smell of freshly baked cookies while being greeted by all of the staff. I ordered a milkshake and a butter pecan cookie. We waited about 5 minutes for our items. The inside is very clean with great decor all over the wall. There's plenty of seating available if you want to eat inside. All great flavors, my ONLY suggestion would have been that the cookies all had the same consistency. RUDE STAFF ! As much as I wanted to enjoy these cookies the staff member with various piercings, light skinned female was very very rude to my family. She had an attitude the whole time which made us feel very un welcomed. She was very unprofessional to the kids (all under age) told them " yes the cookies are real don't touch them" (indicating the cookies on the wall which they pointed at and never touched )with an attitude. I ordered a cookie cake for my son's birthday a few months back. The cakes shown on the website were beautifully decorated and I had heard good things about this place. We waited a few hours for the cake to be made and then my husband went to pick it up. Unfortunately, he was in a rush and didn't check it in the store. When we got home and opened the box the cake looked TERRIBLE. The writing looked like my 5 year old daughter did it and there was a bunch of weird, random globs of frosting thrown around it. It was also cracked in several different places. I try not to be too picky, but we paid a lot of money for a cute birthday cookie. I called Cookie Chris to see what could be done and they were not apologetic at all. They told me they could make a new cake, but we had to bring the old cake back, and that we would have to wait a few hours because there were other cakes ahead of us. That made no sense to me, because if my cake was made right the first time we wouldn't have to have a new one made, but my son really wanted the cake so I agreed. The next cake we picked up was at least in one piece and the writing was much better, but looked nothing like any of the beautiful cakes they have displayed on their website. It tasted fine so I guess there's that. We haven't been back to Cookie Chris since this incident and we warn others not to order a cake from them either, unless they want to be sorely disappointed. Bought a 4 pack of cookies for my family and they absolutely love the cookies here. I can't have any so I'm writing this review based off of their opinions. Both of my kids agreed the cookies were better than Crumbl Cookies. The outside is a little crisp (just the right amount) and soft inside. They are not overly sweet. All cookies are served hot with the option to add ice cream. We didn't have any ice cream though. Great price point for the size. Excellent customer service and very nice atmosphere.
