I can't think of any way to improve this place. Regular items include a wide assortment of yeast and cake donuts -- filled, coated, and sprinkled with wonderful flavors. Then there are the seasonal specials -- creative, adorable images and flavor combinations beyond anything I've found elsewhere. Their apple fritters are huge, tender, and overflowing with apple chunks. I've had a good experience with their online ordering, always finding my order accurate and ready on time. Our experience with the gal who boxed the doughnuts was cringeworthy. She wore one glove and the other she fiddled with her hair nose ring and face. I was so excited by the variety of flavors, I got the key lime, cannoli with caramel, and guava mango, but I also was tempted to try banana pudding, lemon blueberry and pb&j. However the key lime had an overly sweet icing and an artificially tasting lime filling. The mango guava glazed had a tropical tasting filling that kinda gave mango but didn't taste like guava at all which was disappointing because I love guava pastries. But maybe that's my bad and I should've got the guava glazed and not the guava mango. The cannoli was the best and was quite tasty. Slightly expensive at around $11.50 for three donuts but the cannoli one is huge. I would get the cannoli again but not the other two. read more

Get here early! I was on the hunt for cronuts and I found Emily's. Came in around 10 on a weekday. Parking was easy and we were immediately greeted when we walked in. It definitely has that mom and pop shop vibe. The selection was limited but we grabbed half a dozen and thankfully there were still a few cinnamon sugar cronuts left. I had the banana cream filled and a raspberry filled glazed with an iced caramel latte with oat milk. Service was quick and friendly. The donuts were melt in your mouth perfection. We love finding new donut places, and this was really close to an escape room we had booked later that afternoon. The parking lot was plentiful and we had no problem parking. We enter and it's a bit chaotic. There were a few girls working, and it's tight ordering with two cases filled with donuts and other goodies. You may be ordering over other people and dancing with them to swap cases. We got an assorted half dozen but you pay per type of donut/bakery item so there's no set price. We got a: split cream, salted caramel, maple bacon, raspberry filled, apple cinnamon and a cinnamon sugar cronut. Everything we got was so intensely sweet. You ever get that sensation when you bite something so sweet your teeth physically hurt? It was a doozy. I was really excited to try the split cream, but I found I didn't enjoy the filling. Idk what it was, but I knew I immediately did not like it. The salted caramel was good. My preferred of the few I had was definitely the maple bacon. I wish they had more bacon on top as I think the salty aspect would have complimented the sweetness overload but it was still fine. I also feel it would have done better as a ring versus a full circle because it's not even filled lol. I didn't try the rest as my teeth couldn't hang, but my husband did say the rest were just as sweet and nothing to write home about. I'm a cronut lover, so I'm always on the hunt for these things. Not all donut shops have them, but when you find a good one it's an amazing thing. Emily's came through. The guava filled was my favorite, but the cinnamon sugar and glazed were amazing as well. These are larger and slightly thinner than the ones out here on the west coast, but they're amazing. I arrived minutes before the 1:00 closing, and rushed through the purchase of a half dozen donuts, forgetting to take photos of the moment. Regardless, Emily's knows donuts and I was fortunate to be able to run in and free a few hostages. The shop is small, with a counter display and a few tables for those who prefer to linger. Self serve java is available and hot. Their inventory was somewhat limited due to the hour, but they still had a pastel collection of cake and yeast rounders with colorful frosting and tasty fillings. I went with 2 Glazed, 2 Blueberry Glazed, 1 Strawberry Frosted and a Peanut Butter & Jelly filled pillow. My sister and I shared them and we agreed these were outstanding exemplars of the genus Donuticus Americani. The colors were rich and suggested the flavor rush to come. The yeasties were soft and their icing gave way nicely with each bite. The berry choices were uber sweet and could be smelled as well as tasted. The jelly gushed out when bitten, and required a little dexterity to avoid dropping its load on the ground. A real treat! The coffee could have been fresher, but the shop was in the process of closing and we were advised of that before deciding to pour a cup. Coming here before the park was what's totally good in every sugar filled way as they had blueberry fritters one of my absolute favorites and let me say it didn't disappoint as it was crispy around the edges and just yummy definitely one of the better ones I've had recently for At least being blueberry. The twist was just as it should be twisty and covered in glaze with that delicious twisted donut action. They had a good variety of donuts that looked yummy but a girl can only have soo many in once visit and living away who knows if I'll come back again but it's definitely not out of the question before the park. Their donuts here are beyond moist. Totally reminds me of a spot back where I'm from. Came here during Easter weekend and they had a bunch of flavors (even Easter themed ones which were beyond adorable). My group and I ordered 5 different kinds to try. Boston cream, blueberry fritter, cronuts, strawberry glazed, and vanilla with chocolate drizzle. I didn't get a chance to try the boston cream, but according to my group, it was a bit too much filling and a tad on the sweeter side, but overall good. The cronut was AMAZING. Flaky and soft and just the right sweetness. Blueberry fritter was huge! I do with it had a tiny but more blueberries in it, but it was delicious. It even stay soft for a few days (too big to finish in one sitting). If I'm down in Williamsburg location again, I'll be sure to stop by again and try other ones. read more

On vacation and found this place in the Williamsburg travel magazine and looked up their website, unless you want to place an order online for delivery (and you have to put the delivery address in first) you can't see their menu so I googled their menu and found their specials. My husband and I went at opening at 5:30 in the morning on Monday for their special to find that apparently the online menu was old. I showed the online menu to the employee and explained that their website has NO MENU and this was the only presence online and I was told by the employee a decade younger that you "could like see it but like you have to do the online order and it's there it's like all web sites now".... I was extremely unimpressed. Their hours don't make it easy to call the day before. Because I promised my kids I begrudgingly bought the donuts, while they were asleep with grandma. I am 7months pregnant and gluten free, FYI they had no options for me, I feel trapped and angry by the only menu available to me online because I don't DOOR DASH. Also FYI as a small business owner myself, door dash is a rip off to the business itself but a great service for people who choose to use it. Most businesses are happy to have in person customers and would have offered something as a consolation, but even with asking they refused. Also as business owner if something is online that doesn't represent your business you can easily update it or request it be removed on places like menupix.com My husband tried a donut on the way back ... again NOT impressed apparently, so it was a huge sleep disturbance and disappointment. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time with flavor or expecting southern hospitality. Purchased a mix dozen donuts for the road and overall, they were good. Service was great, place was clean. We're the donuts great? Unfortunately, I got a couple of misses that would have made this a five star. The donuts that were good were good, ie: any of the chocolate ganache topped ones, the honey glazed, maple bacon, and even the chocolate cake donut. The miss, and a huge one was their key lime (top right on picture). Filling on that was good but on top was a nut topping (perhaps peanut) that tasted very stale. It completely ruined the donut. The blueberry (bottom, second on left) was just overly sweet and I do mean really sweet, so much so you didn't even taste the donut. It was like eating jam right out of the jar! When my mom asked me "Where can I get cronuts?" It was one of the few times I was genuinely stumped on where to give her a recommendation, after asking around a lot of people pointed me in the direction of Emily's Donuts, and I'm so glad that they did. If you're coming in from the other side of the HRBT like my friends and me, it is a wise decision to pre-order your donuts by phone or on their website because they sell out fast. My friends and I came in an hour before closing and there was virtually nothing left in the case. It's a good thing we had pre-ordered or we would've been TIGHT. Haha The donuts themselves are delicious, both their cake and yeast varieties were a big hit with my family, and BAYBAY their cronuts (both the glazed and cinnamon sugar flavor) did what needed to be done! They were so soft and flaky. My mom and I were very happy. I will note that there was a mistake in both my and my friend's pre-order, but the staff was polite and worked quickly to rectify the mistake (they offered us the option of getting a partial refund or picking up missing items at a later date.) We weren't too mad, because we understand that mistakes happen, and working in any busy place gets stressful, let alone in a global pandemic. All in all, Emily's Donuts are alright by me, and I'm so glad I was able to find cronuts for my mom. Honestly worst customer service. I've been in a couple times and it's been okay, but not today. I went in to redeem a free donut sent me to by them. I went today because it expired and they didn't have the specific donut, so I said is there anything we can do since it expires today.
