This is a cute cupcakery with plenty of options. I went with the tiramisu flavor and my sister got the hot chocolate one. While she loved the hot chocolate, I found the tiramisu flavor lacking. I will go back to try another flavor because the cupcake as a whole was good and the lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. read more

We were in town for our daughter's 12th birthday and needed a cake. After a quick Google search of local bakeries we settled on Smallcakes. Ordering was super easy as was pick up. The cake itself was absolutely stunning and my daughter said it was exactly what she wanted! The taste was spectacular and very lightweight. Some of my family members are very picky about "heavier cakes" and this was definitely not one of them. It was so delicious and we highly recommend this bakery. We can't wait to come back next time and try out all the amazing looking cupcakes we saw on display read more

I went in there to try this location and get something sweet. I've had the Boston cream and rev velvet cupcake before and it was good. I decided to try the sampler since I've only had the vanilla cupcake. The sampler comes with two chocolate and two vanilla. The sampler was decorated in there holiday design. The service was quiet quick. I would got back to this location for my sweet tooth. read more

Their concept is 18 varieties made from scratch daily. Sign here said 15 (Covid?). We got there with less than an hour to close. Only about 8 types left. Moist spongy vanilla cake in both. Pink vanilla - pink buttercream on vanilla cake. Great frosting. Boston cream - chocolate frosting topped with "custard" on vanilla cake. The custard was more of a buttercream, but I'm happy. Freaky reminded me of a Boston cream donut. $3.25 each. Solid cupcake. read more

I LOVEEEEEEE SMALLCAKES!! There hasn't been a single location that I've been to between VA & NC that I've had an issue with. The cupcakes are always delicious!!! We got Cookies N Cream today for the first time. The cake was super moist & the buttercream was heavenly. I tried not to overdo it with the carbs, but Lord knows I wanted to buy more. I was good and only got one for myself. SIGH!! Anyway, the shop is located in a shopping center with many other stores. There is ample parking. The staff were polite, and they have visit punch cards that could earn you free cupcakes. I recommend this place highly. Now, let me go workout. :) read more

Mouthwatering cupcakes and a memorable experience inspired me to write a review for Smallcakes Williamsburg. The interior has a clean, welcoming aesthetic that directs your attention straight to the point... the display case of cupcakes. They had already sold out of gluten-free options when I stopped in late in the day, but the baker was so accommodating about it. I ended up ordering two kinds to pick up the next day and so glad I diid. I recommend the coconut, seriously probably the best cake I can remember. For gluten-free people with a sweet tooth like me, you're in luck to have found this place for an occasional treat that's "worth the calories". read more

Loved the Cupcakes from here. I used to be a baker myself, and I enjoyed the flavors that I tried. The cakes are soft, moist and not overly sweet. Most of the sugar comes from the frosting it seems, which I prefer because I can control how much I eat. Today, I tried strawberry and Boston Cream. Both were delicious and didn't disappoint. I like mine less sweet, so preferred the strawberry more, but if chocolate ganache is your thing, definitely try the Boston cream! I'll be back to slowly treat myself to all their flavors! read more

I went for the first time today since I am in town on vacation. Loved the wall decor and it was clean. It's a walk in place with no tables to sit down. I went late afternoon and got a strawberry cupcake and a red velvet. The woman was friendly and customer service was fine. They did not have a lot of choices but that's not necessarily a bad thing. They're put in a box that has slots to hold the cupcakes in place which is smart. The strawberry one was delicious. Just like a piece of cake. It wasn't dried out at all for being late afternoon. I would definitely go again if I had a sweet tooth. read more

I love this location of Smallcakes! Everyone is always so polite and attentive when you walk in. I recently placed a special order for a friend for her birthday she loved the sweet potato casserole cupcake that was a special during November. So I called to see if they could make this seasonal cupcake and place her favorite pet on top, a duck. The price was very reasonable for a half dozen and the cupcakes looked great. The only disappointment was the cupcakes tasted like carrot cake instead of sweet potato. I still would pick this cupcakery over the others in town when I want a sweet treat. read more

I had been dying to try this place for a while so I finally got to go when visiting my parents and I was not disappointed. The girl who greeted my mom and I was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about all of the cupcakes and gave us some really good insight about her favorite flavors. My mom and I decided on the Boston cream pie cupcakes and we got one for my dad as well. The cake on the cupcake was so moist and delicious and filled with yummy sweet cream. The icing was my favorite part. It was so chocolatey and smooth; I was in heaven. I can't wait to come back here. This was definitely one of the best cupcakes I've had in a while, and probably one of the best cupcakes that I have ever had. The only thing I was sad about was that they didn't have the cannoli cupcake when I was there and I would love to try that one. read more

Found this place when looking for a bakery to make a dessert for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We are not from Williamsburg, but I called a week ahead of our trip and the owner was very helpful and accommodating to my request! I was hesitant about the price since I had never tried the place before and they were a bit pricey. They were worth every Penny! We ordered 24 cupcakes and a small 4" cake for my parents. These were the best cupcakes (and cake) I had ever had and many in our party had the same comments! We all highly recommend the Wedding Cake (almond) flavor! We also tried the vanilla and chocolate, which were also good, but the almond was to die for! The cupcakes and cake were all very moist and the icing was light, but flavorful! We'll be coming back for sure! read more

They truly do seafood well here, and the portions are always hearty. Every experience here is consistently great. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the manager even stopped by our table to check in, which was a nice touch. I always recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Williamsburg.

I was very disappointed in this place. I make better cupcakes from the box and I'm not the most skilled cook. Or better yet, go to the bakery across the street at Freshmarket, or even Starbucks, and get bigger and better cupcakes for half the price of this place! I tried three flavors and was underwhelmed every time. The cake itself was a dry crumbly box mix... nothing special. The icing was too thick and heavy (when you take a bite, the cake crumbles into nothing and you are left with a handful of icing.) My husband didn't love them either and he eats anything. Being out-of-towners I guess we are just used to better bakeries like WholeFoods and (drool) Publix. The menu changes daily. There are pictures all over the walls of delicious looking cupcakes, but in flavors they don't make. For drinks, there is a refrigerator with a small selection of bottled sodas available... it would be much better to offer hot teas and coffees also. Or at least a larger variety of drinks. All the cupcakes are on display and very cute and pretty but all lacking in taste. read more

Best in town!!! This cupcake store is so cute when you go inside. The tables are adorable. They have over a dozen different flavors to choose from. The cake is so MOIST! The price is right for the size cupcake you get. They offer sodas, milk, juice, bottle water, coffee, and hot chococlate. Staff was super helpful. We will be back!! read more
