Carrot Tree is such a welcoming place for lunch or bakery treats. It's a real locals spot and a gem! The menu offers breakfast and lunch, with sandwiches, salads, soup, and quiche. I especially like their side dish of carrot salad, which contains pickled carrots in a sweet vinegar. During our most recent visit, we ordered the First Ladies lunch, which included a piece of spinach quiche (they offered other quiche versions too) and a side, for which I ordered the carrot salad. Many of my friends ordered the sampler, which came on a bed of lettuce with scoops of different salads, like tuna, chicken, egg, and pimento. Another friend ordered the wrap special, which was peaches and chicken. Yummy!! The restaurant is larger than it looks from the entrance, as it has another room towards the back. It's brightly lit with cute rabbit- and carrot-themed decorations. The bakery and prepared food to take home areas offer a wide selection of cakes, cookies, pies, etc. and meals like quiches, pot pies, etc. See photos. They can accommodate groups of 12 for large lunches with friends and can provide separate checks. Service is very good!!

First time here, after wife received several recommendations. Place is much better sized than we were led to believe, with plenty of seating. Place a Was busy, but not overly so, between 1/2 & 2/3 full. First indication of things going awry was standing at the hostess station for twenty seven minutes (with obvious seating available). Finally seated and were able to order minutes later. Plenty of time to examine the decor, which was tastefully decorated for the season. Waters arrived (no lemon in mine for some reason, although both of us requested-guess wife just looks nicer!). I ordered the Brunswick stew and wife had the breakfast croissant. Bowl of stew was small - felt more like a cup size. Would have liked some hot sauce, but after food was dropped off, waitress never reappeared. Wife's breakfast sandwich was very nice. Overall, seemed seriously understaffed, which affected all aspects of the meal.

LOVE CARROT TREE! i come here at least once or twice every summer. My grandma treated me to lunch today. Went with my usual: the Yorktown onion and carrot salad. SO YUMMY

Delicious breakfast croissant made with over medium eggs, topped with bacon, and cheddar cheese. Large carrot slice as a side. Hubby had a Brunswick stew which he found bland. The place was too large for the staff of the manager and two servers. Very slow to seat us o/w excellent food for me.

The fresh catch meal included a simple house salad, and it took 30 minutes for the salad to arrive. Shortly after the salad arrived, our meals came out, and they were lukewarm. I had the grilled mahi mahi with lemon dill butter over some roasted fingerling potatoes and corn. While the fish itself was a nice piece and well prepared, its not-quite-warm temperature made it less appetizing to eat. The same was true for our other meals: the seafood pot pie and the mahi mahi fish tacos. While our waitress offered to have them all reheated, we both didn't have time as we had theatre tickets and reheating the tacos with their toppings, the pot pie with its pastry crust, and the seared fish didn't sound appealing. The restaurant's dining room was comfortable, and the bar area looked vibrant. Hopefully they are still breaking in their new facility, as we liked dining with them in their previous location.

We went on a Sunday afternoon at 3 PM and were promptly seated. The atmosphere was fine, pretty open and unexceptional, but modern and new. Big screen in front of us playing the Sunday football game. Server was quick to get drink orders in, 12 oz. Commonwealth Modern 'Smores stout for $8 and my wife got a $16 Peppermint Espresso Martini. I appreciated the nice Commonwealth stout and the price was fine. The Peppermint Espresso martini was mediocre and very overpriced considering that. Our food took a long time. Like 3 apologies from the server long. There were 2 parties of like 10 that were in process when we sat so I get it. But I do feel like something should be given when it's 45 minutes plus on food. Anyway, on to the food.... My kid is not much of an eater and they did not have any type of kid menu. Ended up with a soft pretzel for $13. Add cheese fondue and it's $16. It was very big and delicious.... At $16 it's hard to be excited about it though. The cheese fondue definitely made the pretzel. I was not overly hungry and got She crab soup $8.50 for the cup and a Caesar salad $5. The soup was good, they add the crab on top so you can see they give you about half a cup and for the price it was good. Definitely not the best she crab soup in the area, but good enough. Caesar was just croutons, Parmesan and dressing and was fine. My wife got the "fresh catch" Chilean Sea Bass for $33. It was kind of fishy tasting. Fresh fish is rarely fishy. It was overcooked, horribly plated and the blackened seasoning had minimal flavor. It was bad. We asked for some tarter for it and it made it tolerable. The server offered to replace it, but having just waited 45 minutes for food we weren't going to chance something else, particularly since we were with another couple. While we were waiting I had 2 $3 special Budweisers and my wife had a $14 Snowflake Margarita. They were all fine. My kids sprite was $4 which feels outrageous, but I don't know what places are charging these days for sodas. I normally don't pay attention. Bill came with another apology for all the waiting and no discount. Tough to make it as a seafood restaurant when you are struggling with your seafood. I heard their seafood nachos are excellent.... Maybe I'll give them another chance for those. My first experience was not a good one.

They also came with fries or onion rings, funnel cake fries, and a drink of your choice. Two of the guys had the root beer and said it was pretty good. Now as for the dogs, the two guys that had the coneys were happy with them, although one was hoping for a little more spice from the chili, but it was by no means bad. The burnt ends dog was said to be pretty freaking good. As for the American dog, we'll that was a different story. It wasn't a bad dog, but it tasted like it had been boil cooked and not cooked on the griddle. Additionally, it wasn't really that warm. I guess warm is a good description for it. It would have been better if it was hot and you could see some cooking marks on it. Alas, it was and had neither. But again, it wasn't a bad dog, but it could have been much better. The onion rings were pretty tasty though, as were the funnel cake fries and crinkle cut fries. This night was Wednesday, so it was trivia night. At 6:30. At about 6:00 people really started to come in, and by 6:30, the place was packed. Guess trivia night is a big hit... The people working there were super friendly and you fealt as if they were happy to be there. I would have given it 5 stars, but tbe warm dog just brought my experience down a bit. But don't let that stop you from going there, because you'll probably have a good time with good food and good people.

When I got to the restaurant I asked if they had horse radish: no. Au jus: yes. I wanted a piece of Carrot cake but I thought $18 was exorbitant. I opted for the pecan pie instead. The online menu said they had some crispy chicken dinner... It was no longer part of the menu when I arrived to the restaurant.. My significant other is allergic to shellfish, and does not eat pork... There weren't a lot of entrée options for him because there was pork all over the place. I did order him some salmon since he could not get the chicken. He liked the salmon. The broccoli had no flavor on it. And the brown rice pilaf was equally Bland. The brisket sandwich was ...okay... but dipping it in French onion soup calling it onion jus.... It just pissed me off. I think the menu was overpriced for tourists. The staff seemed to be doing the best they could. I guess I'll continue my hunt for the best Friend dip in Williamsburg. I'm down here a lot.
