absolutely DELICIOUS food with a flair. Everything made from scratch. Incredible selection of homemade desserts! The place itself is nothing fancy but the food is FABULOUS! Totally worth a visit. Lots of space for kids to run around and stretch their legs if you're on the road.

Monte Cristo and barely any hash browns. Burnt as well

I ordered a Breakfast monte cristo from here. It was just ok. Didn't expect the sandwich to be too hot to hold. I had to wait for it to cool down a bit before I bit into it. Also came with a side of raspberry jelly. They don't have a "sides" menu so I asked for a side of hash browns. The portion was so small and not edible. Not worth 3 dollars. First bite tasted so burnt that it left an oily char taste in my mouth. The coffee was ok. It helped get rid of aftertaste from the hash browns.

I went here one day to grab a quick salad as walked away with some pretty almond glazed shortbread cookies too. The field greens salad was great! It comes with spring mix lettuce, dried cranberries, onions, feta, avocado, almonds, a side of chicken salad, and the most delicious onion vinaigrette. I think it's homemade. The chicken salad has dill, which was a nice complement to the salad. The lady who took my order was Momo's mom. She was very pleasant. They also sell pastries and jewelry. The layout has several tables, and plenty of places to sit.

I discovered this cafe on a morning walk. It's right next to he Bass Pro Shop. I had the fried flounder on hoagie with a side of pasta salad and it was so fresh and delicious! It as served with bread and butter pickles on the side. My favorite! For dessert I had oatmeal cookie filled with icing that was far superior to the Little Debbie oatmeal cream sandwiches. Can't wait to sample the breakfast menu. Highly recommend!!!!

Inside seating with fun tables and chairs.

What an awesome find! I read some reviews about it, but the pictures I looked at all seemed like catered events and small sampler portions. I wanted to try it anyway and I am so glad we did. It's looks like a rundown mexican restaurant across the parking lot from Bass Pro Shop. But don't be discouraged; all their effort is invested in the inside decor and the food. There is a good amount of merchandise available, ranging from collected jewelry and purses to skirts and scarves. The sets of tables and chairs all vary, but bring a nice, comfortable atmosphere. There's a kid's corner with small furniture and books. The outdoors seating area is fenced in and has lots of space and several tables. The service was top notch and came with friendly conversation. The inside of the cafe has a nice vibrant and inviting atmosphere. There are baked goods on display all around. The coffee was fresh and really good. The menu was not short, like I expected. I thought cafe, maybe a short, snacky menu. Nope! There are full breakfast options, lots of sandwiches, kids menu, sweets, salads and weekly dinner specials. We bought coffees, the cubana, tuna melt panini, and a pair of oatmeal creme cookies. First, the coffee cups are huge. Second, the owner even said, "Why serve crappy coffee?". It was a good cup of joe. The cubana was a nice take on a cuban, served in a pita with thick slices of turkey, a good amount of ham, and sweet pickles. I was happy with it. My wife's tuna melt panini was tasty and she kept saying how filling it was. The oatmeal creme cookies were terrific. Nice, crunchy oatmeal cookies sandwiching creme in the middle. My wife fell in love with a silver bracelet with inlaid rows of opal. The owner had gotten it from an indian reservation while out traveling. We purchased it and she is very happy. If you want it delivered, there were several Doordash signs inside. We shop at Bass Pro frequently and will definitely return to Momo's Cafe for food when we do. I'm looking forward to it!

Was in the mood for a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel and stumbled upon Momo's. It's in the old Mexican restaurant next to where Lone Star used to be in Hampton on power plant. Threw me off a little (nobody was there), but once inside, I found a fun, whimsical store with painted tables, gorgeous coffee mugs, and good food at a decent price. Staff were wonderful and answered any questions. They do breakfast until 11:30. I'll be back again to try the lunch and the dinner specials.

    Homemade desserts galore!

Momo's is a very quaint little shop that knows what they're good at. I got the tuna melt and the salted caramel cookie bar, both homemade and it shows. I wish I knew about Momo's sooner!

My first thought was "the Mediterranean version of Chipotle?"…read more I am really glad I decided to get some takeout from them because they had a 2-for-1 meal deal so I got two giant bowls (enough food for 4+ people?) and two interesting drinks for less than $21. Dining out these days often ends up being more like $20+ per person so this was a nice change. I doubt we'll get the cucumber mint drink again but I really liked the cilantro kale blueberry carrot drink. The custom bowls were great. I was only in the restaurant for a couple minutes so all I noticed is that it seemed pretty big and air conditioned.

Instead, we were charged for a honey harissa chicken signature bowl that costed $17.91. When we first questioned the charge, the employee insisted we received honey harissa chicken. We looked at our bowl and it was clearly chicken shawarma. When we brought it up again, we were told the price difference was only $1. Another employee stepped in and claimed that build-your-own bowls don't include protein and that all protein is an extra charge. We explained that only certain protein options are upcharges (honey harissa chicken + steak and lamb) and asked her to ring the order up again to verify. After checking the register, she realized we were right and refunded the $3 difference. While we appreciate receiving the refund, it's concerning that the employees don't seem to have a basic understanding of their own menu and pricing. They both confidently gave incorrect information before taking a moment to verify the facts. Definitely check your receipts carefully to make sure you're being charged correctly. While we eventually received a refund, we had to dispute the charge multiple times before it was finally corrected. There was no apology--only arguments and repeated explanations for why the charge was supposedly correct. Hopefully management can provide additional training so employees are more familiar with the menu and pricing going forward.

I actually met one of the owners while shopping at Games Farmers Market in Newport News. She spoke so passionately about her restaurant being a soul food spot that I knew I had to try it. I went within the week, and they don't open until after 3 p.m. (I believe they stay open until 1 or 2 in the morning). They even have extra parking across the street, which is nice. I went in by myself, and they told me I could sit wherever I wanted. Since I was one of the first people in there that day, the bartender/waitress greeted me with so much kindness. She went over some of the specials, and I ended up ordering the Rasta Pasta along with a drink--a Pineapple Upside Down (tea or lemonade, I can't quite remember). Whatever it was, it was delicioso. That drink was a 10/10--I'd go back just for that! When the pasta came out, it was served with garlic toast, and I also ordered some macaroni and cheese. The pasta was flavorful, and honestly, I've been thinking about going back for it again. The mac and cheese wasn't my favorite, but to be fair, I prefer baked, homemade macaroni & cheese--so that's just me, but it was good. While I was there, I chatted with several of the owners and the cook, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I even learned one of the owners is a veteran. The restaurant has a sports bar vibe, with TVs everywhere, music playing, and a DJ--it's lively, clean, and has a great atmosphere. I really love the vibe, the people, and how comfortable they made me feel. I'll definitely be back. If you're looking for good food, good people, and a good atmosphere, I'd say give George's a try--you might end up loving it like I did.

Hands down one of the coolest coffee houses in Hampton Roads!…read more I would likely have never known this place existed without my coffee passport. It's tucked away on Fort Monroe - a little off the beaten path for me, but well with the visit. Google maps had me coming from the back side of the building but once you find your way around, there is ample parking and some outdoor seating for nice days. Like any converted firehouse the only windows are from the large roll-up doors. The inside is cozy with plenty of comfy seating. They offer free Wi-Fi and activities for little ones including lots of fire trucks to play with so this would be a nice spot for families. Already planning to bring my family in for a stop on the way to Williamsburg. Plenty of coffee and non-coffee options plus seasonal specials and tons of flavor choices, including sugar free. I opted for a sugar-free dark chocolate latte which was delicious - perfect level of sweetness and just the right temperature. I also ordered an egg and cheese sandwich on naan bread. They have multiple cheese and other bread options. The egg was a little over seasoned but flavor was good. Compared to the major chains and other independent coffee shops, prices here are reasonable. Overall a great visit with welcoming and helpful staff. Looking forward to a trip back!
