    Kente's Lunch Menu November 2024

Call first to make sure the restaurant is open. Limited items on the menu. Staff is friendly, helpful, professional.

    Fried broccoli

The shrimp were okay, the rice was pretty good, although it actually looked better than it tasted. It still wasn't bad. The fish had a lot of bones in it... but honestly, the meal was "acceptable." The customer service is usually where this place really struggles and I can see big improvement. It wasn't Chick-fil-A service lol... but it wasn't the usual nasty attitudes I've seen in this place before. So that's nice... but the real reason I come here is for the FRIED BROCCOLI, it's really good and it somehow lures me back in here every couple of weeks ‍ Bite me

Harambee special. Found this pic on their Facebook
    Taureenia F.

I ordered two of the kente specials (one fish, the other salmon) as well as the harambee special (sautéed shrimp w/ Zambia spinach over rice) they all came w/ green beans & a roll. While I was disappointed in the portions (could've been a lot more for the price), I am full. I'm used to well seasoned, OK heavily seasoned (not salty) food so while I was initially upset, I remembered to be open minded about it. It was DELICIOUS. While the portions weren't as big as I would have expected for the price, I am full, as this is probably the proper portions anyway (laughs). While the rice wasn't really seasoned, the sautéed shrimp & freshness of the spinach balanced out everything. From what I tasted, The fish and salmon dishes were amazing (they weren't mine so I kind of sneaked a bite of them both). I gave it 4 STARS because of the PRICES (those 3 dishes were $27.?? combined, which I've gotten more for that amount and the APPEARANCE of the inside was too Let me elaborate on the appearance. When I entered the restaurant, I felt a sense of being (I being African American). But it was so much decor packed in such a small space I felt cramped being in there. I wouldn't feel comfortable eating in there because it just looks so cluttered. If they toned it down with the decorations and brought some light in there, I would bring the entire family to eat. It wasn't until after I finished eating that I remembered to snap a picture of the dish LOL

Zimbia spinach and rice and beans, simply amazing!

I really don't know how i never been to this place or even heard about it until today. I also don't see how you could rate this business with anything less then 5 stars. I was a bit skeptical by the location of the restaurant but once inside you feel like your in your own house. It feels so welcoming and alive. Once you enter the lady in the front greets you as if you been there for years. With it being my first time there, she was very patient with me and allowed me to just breathe and look at the menu. I ordered some rice and beans and zimbia spinach. My only disappointment was i wanted to try the zucchini bread and unfortunately they didn't have any at that time. Which was fine because i will definitely be going back there again. The rice and beans were phenomenal!!! I never had rice and beans with spinach and carrots in it. It really blew my mind how good it was. Also the zimbia spinach was delicious. I thought it would be like regular spinach but boy was i wrong. It had a different but yet amazing taste to them. Normally spinach is overcooked and you would have to add salt but not this type. It still had a crisp taste and nice crunch and flavor to them. All and all this place needs to get recognized more, because their food is WONDERFUL, the customer service is great, and the atmosphere will have you thinking you never left the house.

Very good American food. Healthy food selections. Small place but very big inside. Healthy options that isn't very expensive. Customer service is also amazing

Great place to eat for a delicious him cooked meal. They only take cash to make sure you go to the ATM the food is also made to order so either call ahead unless you mind waiting 10-15 minutes for your food. The grilled salmon is excellent I'll post a picture. This is me & my fiancée new lunch spot when in in town.

Fried fish with vegetable rice and green beans. Also featuring a partially demolished small plate of chicken curry.

Whether it's just the two of us or with a group, there have been no complaints on our end. Let's see how this visit went. We were seated once we walked in. Just like before, the decor was set up perfectly and each customer was taken care of by the wonderful staff making sure everyone was comfortable. No problems here at all. For the selections, we had pan-fried pork gyoza and I had chicken Katsudon for my entree (Sophia had her usual, chicken Katsu Ramen). Everything delivered was on point. Well-cooked and tasted great. I do wish I could add more, but when you eat regular dishes, there's nothing more to say. Thank you again Tanpopo Ramen for making Sophia and myself satisfied. Keep it up :)

I appreciated the simplicity of this place in that regard , the broth really talked for itself. Im not a fan of miso so I wasnt exactly sure if id like it, but like I said, best ramen ive ever had . Ive never had a good ramen egg either, sometimes they're just too egg-y or mucus like for lack of a better descriptor, I actually ate this ramen egg. It didnt taste like egg and had a very nice jello like texture, will be going back next time im in the area to try the katsu . Service was also very prompt & attentive. I was sat right away, I had my food within 10 minutes even though the place was a little busy since it was dinner time on a Saturday night, and the server was very nice. **Ramen excluded the nori**

When I pulled up, the "Open" sign was still out front. I got out of my car and walked to the building, only to see a staff member rush outside and remove the "Open" sign. By the time I reached the door -- still 10 minutes before closing -- the door was already locked. Inside, an employee looked my way but didn't approach me or offer an explanation. If a business advertises that it's open until 3:00PM, a customer arriving before that time reasonably expects to be served. What I experienced felt like a disregard for my time and expectations. I left disappointed -- if Baked Bistro wants to keep my business, I hope they better honor their posted hours in the future.

Another Yelp Reviewer's suggestion for the win!…read more I happened to be in the area today, and after my first stops, I needed something to eat. Again, thanks to other Yelpers, I found this place. I'm so glad we found it. This place does have a small private parking lot, which is a good thing for the area. The interior was nice, large, and seemed very clean. Plenty of seats inside and a few tables outside. The fella who served us was very nice, pleasant, and took care of us. Now let's get to our meals: Holy mud were they good. The wifey had The Jim Boy. Which is a couple of eggs, a couple of sides, potatoes, and toast. She tells me the whole meal was very good with the potatoes being the flavorful standout. As for me, I had The Lumberjack. Wow was it good. It was smashbrowns topped with 3 eggs your way, fried chicken breast, sausage gravy, and a buttermilk biscuit on the side. Their website pictures were different from how it was presented to me today (not that it means a thing). Again what a wonderful flavor. The biscuits were great and the sausage gravy was fantastic! I will say this it is a very filling meal - you will not be hungry after eating this. So with all this said, I highly recommend this place and I'm sure I will be back. I might even try to hit it for lunch next time. So if you're looking for a place - go ahead and enjoy this place.

Now the restaurant service left much to be desired. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable but scarce. After at least 15 minutes she finally approached the table saying she thought we wanted to catch up. How nice. But we are here to eat lunch. Here's a tip. If I say please give us some time to chat then come back in 15 minutes, THEN do that. My eggs and grits bowl was good and the turkey sausage patties were inedible. Also for some reason they always serve a mix of sweet and white potatoes. I do not eat sweet potatoes ever. Dana I beg you stop putting them in everything from soup to entrees. The salad bowl is an odd shape and difficult to manage. No place to set a utensil on the lip. The vibe is industrial cool and very spacious. My vanilla cupcake was hard, and the icing for all were not too sweet. I prefer sweet icing. These were more of a whipped icing. But, that's just preference. Each cupcake was $4.50, which I think was spot on. They were bigger in size. I don't think I'll be getting anything else from the bakery at this time. There are so many cute, fun items in the store. I plan to stop back to get a few things I saw. Once I was done at the bakery store side I headed over for lunch. I was seated at a booth, chair combo seating. The booth was really comfortable. Our waiter was really good. He was attentive made sure our drinks were filled. He answered any questions we had. My starter was the Chesapeake Bay crab dip. That dip was one of the best I have had! Melty cheese, with wonderful flavor! It came out piping hot a d was paired with crispy yet soft pita rounds. I opted for the BBQ Brisket on a sweet potato bun. The bun was really delicious. I was happy the waiter informed me that this was not a hand held sandwich, but more of a fork and knife kind of dish. My side was a salad. The lemon dressing was amazing. My friend also had the same dressing and she raved about it as well. Over I'd like to return and try out more dishes and maybe some of their breakfast items I've heard good things about the Brunswick stew as well . The location is in Phebus and I think it is a really great area to be at .
