On Saturday April 11th, my friends and family (9 total) came into park lane around 8-8:30ish pm after a dance competition at the Hampton convention center. We were served by Kylie (Kyleigh?) on the patio and she was fantastic. I was a server/bartender in Hampton roads for close to 10 years and she provided my family and I with the best service I have received in a restaurant in a long while. Over the weekend, Sophia and I dined here to continue celebrating my birthday for the month. Park Lane Tavern has been one spot that we've been to over and over. Whether it's with friends or just the two of us, we've never been disappointed. Let's see how this visit went. We were immediately seated once we walked inside. It wasn't completely packed for a Saturday afternoon but staff was really busy with customers. The vibe was one that made us comfortable for the most part. After a few minutes of looking over the menu, we were ready to order. My selection was the Tavern Monte Cristo which consisted of chargrilled chicken and ham as the protein with Gouda cheese and cider aioli fried in a tempura batter with tavern fries. The meal was served hot and ready and tasted great. And having the cranberry coulis as a dipping sauce really added some taste. My only gripe with the sandwich was the amount of protein. I'm not sure if I ate most of it when we dined in, but when I ate the rest for dinner, it was more breading than anything else. Still good but they could've included more. Nonetheless, I was full. I've only been to this Park Lane Tavern twice. The first time with a party of three & it was okay. This last visit left me wanting. I came with a girlfriend after a workout for a healthy-ish dinner. We came around 9:30/10 & probably left right before closing because we were yapping. Food took a while to come out - we ordered calamari & goat cheese for appetizers and two salads that we ended up boxing up as the appetizers were filling although they didn't look very appetizing. The grilled chicken salad I got to go ended up giving my partner bubble guts even though it went straight in the fridge when I got home & the fruit vinaigrette tasted very artificial, even plastic. We were sat at a booth & felt a little rushed. The servers started sweeping the floors loudly but it was ten til closing so they probably wanted to get us & the last couple tables out. If I were ever to come back maybe it would be for lunch or a Wednesday Wellington night but although the decoration is fun, I feel much more welcomed at the smaller Kempsville VB location. read more

Had a hankering for Fish and Chips and a pint, which is ironic considering Yorktown is just down the road.... But anyway, I came in to Park Lane to appease my hunger and by god did it remind me of the pubs in Scotland. Decor here exemplifies the classic pub of my dreams. Their beer list is quite diversified between English, Irish, German, and Belgian beers. Don't mind if I do! They had a special for a $20 Beef Wellington. Say less!!! The pastry was delicious with the demi glace. Mashed potatoes were some of the best I've had. On the beer side, I had a Fullers to start, and currently drinking an Evil Santa. The bartender said the Evil Santa was dark and thick, which is my type ;) so why not. Definitely a good choice. We were staying nearby and came to try this place out. We had heard good things about it. We were glad we did. We sat at the beautiful bar and got a sirloin steak and Caesar side salads. Everything was really good. Service was friendly and prompt. Our bartenders Angelica and Cory (spelling might be wrong) were really good. We might go back tonight for the half off fish and chips. British pub style place in a busy town center shopping area. Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday, and there was a wait for the two of us for inside but outside seating was available. Since it was an unseasonably mild, sunny afternoon, we chose to dine on the patio (a great option if the weather cooperates). I went classic with the fish and chips, while wife picked the ahi tuna salad (Okay, one of us tries to be healthy). Jessica, our server, was bubbly and pleasant, knew the menu and could make reasonable suggestions. Portions were ample and prices reasonable for what was provided. Salad was accompanied by Asian style sesame dressing, and the tuna was lightly seared - done perfectly. Fish was also perfectly prepared and brought me back to the streets of London. For those at the table who eat gluten, everything seemed fine. Unfortunately, as someone with celiac disease, mistakes were made--and once that happened, I no longer felt safe eating my meal. As a result, I chose not to eat. The manager was genuinely kind and handled the situation thoughtfully. She comped my meal (I sent it back), provided a gift card for a future visit, and applied a significant discount to our bill, which I truly appreciated. Our waitress was new and understandably unsure how to properly handle gluten-free orders. She was very nice, and I see this as a valuable teaching moment. I sincerely hope additional training was provided so similar mistakes don't happen going forward--because while intentions were good, I ultimately left hungry. So... I'm heading home to eat a sad corn dog instead. I will also add in the dressings were incorrect, and we had to ask numerous people numerous times for silverware - it was busy but... We have been to Park Lane a handful of times. The food has always been on point. The atmosphere is truly like an Irish pub with the lots of Irish influence in the food and the decor. The place has always been clean, including the bathrooms. First we were sat at a high table. I waitress was nice and we asked for water and I ordered a mixed drink. The water took about 10 min to come to the table and our appetizers came out right when I got my drink. The pretzels and fried calamari we hot and cooked perfectly. We tried something different for the entrees. This time I got the meat pizza , it was loaded with meats and cheese. Fresh dough. Full of flavor. My boyfriend got the Famous Fish and Chips and they did not disappoint. The piece of fish was huge and crispy. Fries cooked perfectly. The really disappointing factor and the reason for 3 stars is because our waitress seemed to be more interested in interacting with the staff than paying attention to our table. It was not that busy. When she asked if I wanted another drink, it did not get to our table until after we got our check. The bar team was not behind so they were not the reason for the delay. Checked out this pub for my English husband and were pretty content with what we found! We stayed at this restaurant for about 3 hours and the vibe was bumping! We first arrived and we were the only ones there and within 30 minutes the bar filled up! We ordered a spinach and artichoke dip, Quattro formaggio pizza, and a bangers and mash meal. After checking out the area online for lunch options I stumbled upon Park Lane and we decided to give it a try. Park Lane Tavern will give you British pub vibes with its large wrap around bar, tons of tap options, and photos sporting pictures of old and new Britian . I was torn between a few entrees and asked our amazing waitress about the Guiness chili and the Salmon Beurre Blanc. She recommended both and that is what I went with. My mom got their soup of the day, which was a beef vegetable stew and my aunt got their Guiness chicken that came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Our food was so delicious! Every bite of my chili was hearty and full of spices the guiness really made wvery bite pop. I love that the onions were plentiful and raw as well. The salmon has a nice glaze to it with that pop of lemon sauce that just made every bite better and better. So full of flavor and so glad that it will make easier leftovers. We knew we were being brave or foolish when we decided to brave the HRBT to hit Park Lane with a party of 6 on a Saturday night in the middle of the popular summer tourism season... but hey, we like to live dangerously. In an attempt to mitigate pain, I did try to make a reservation earlier this week but they only do those for parties of 7 or greater. The idea of inventing a 7th guest crossed my mind for a nanosecond but I hated the idea they might have to work to unnecessarily put tables together so we sucked it up and walked in. The friendly hostesses told me it would be about a 40 minute wait. Park Lane has a great bar area and decent beer list so it wasn't a huge hardship. Some 75 minutes later (I grabbed a screenshot of our wait at the 63 minute mark before heading back to the hostess stand to ask if we'd somehow been forgotten) our table- an empty hightop I'd spied in the back about 20 minutes earlier, was finally ready. Food: Okay, I'm not a mushroom gal. I mean, I don't recoil like a child and scream "NO" if I see one, but I never intentionally seek them out and I do tend to pick any big noticeable bits off my plate normally. My friend ordered the stuffed mushroom app though for the table and after our hour + wait I was hungry enough to eat a mushroom. What sort of wizardry did they do?? That mushroom was freaking delicious!!! I was in no position on the table to take a photo- but I'm talking cheesy, savory goodness that wasn't slimy or too "earthy". On previous visits I've had the shepherd's pie (absolutely delicious!) and bangers and mash (also delicious). This time, because we had late night plans afterward, I didn't want to feel too-too full, so I went for the french dip. It was tasty- a soft but chewy toasted roll, thin shaved beef, and swiss cheese with fat steak style chips/fries that were crispy around the edges and well salted. I certainly felt satisfied with my meal but if we go back, I'll definitely do one of their standard entrees instead of a sandwich because I can get a sandwich anywhere and it wasn't exactly stand-out special. Service was good, our waitress was sweet and attentive. We may have waited a long time for the table, but once seated we didn't feel neglected at all. As far as vibe, Park Lane prides itself for its UK/European flare. It was a little amusing to see the EU flag painted on the ceiling, considering Brexit, but its effective because you can squint and pretend you've traveled across the pond as you sip your Fullers. I know it's like spitting against the wind to make such suggestions, but I really wish management would consider introducing a reservation system. That would alleviate crowds hovering inside the door, give patrons realistic expectations, and help in planning staffing. Just an idea for your idea box! Otherwise- Park Lane offers a reliably good meal, friendly service, and a unique atmosphere in Hampton. read more

The food was merely adequate. My salmon was cooked well, but it had no flavor at all. There is no glaze or flavoring on the meat. There was a little bowl of watered-down butter with a few capers in it that I ended up pouring over the salmon. (no flavor of white wine or dill). That, plus salt and pepper made the salmon slightly tastier. I opted for just double asparagus instead of the potatoes and green beans. The asparagus was undercooked, but tasted good due to adequate salt. I would like a less crunchy vegetable that was still bright green with a buttery, slightly seared exterior. The service was very good. The servers I had were taking care of a large group and made sure we had what we wanted. The ambiance was fine. The fan strobed the light above our heads, but it was a comfortable space. The restaurant is a bit loud, so it's not a fine dining, relaxing space. More textiles and a bit of background music, with a hint of a fresh outdoorsy scent would help. I would NOT recommend this place. I want great flavor and good value for a restaurant that purports to be one step below real fine dining. The prices are much too high for something I can cook at home for way less. My friend told me that the Beef Wellington special on Wednesday was not good, as it was too tough and chewy. Disappointing. read more

Stopped in for a bite on a Tuesday night, which was awesome because it was half price fish and chips night. The place was packed so I just sat at the bar and ordered. My dinner came quickly and was a huge filet. The fish and chips were all delicious. I particularly liked the fries which were big and freshly cooked. Since I'm new to Yelp I want to preface this by saying I'm leaving this review not just for my current visit but every single visit all around; which is about less than 10 times but I feel I can make a fair judgement call now. The first few times I came with my wife, I tried many different items. My favorite has been hands down the Mangers Corned Beef Burger with fries. They make and slice their own corned beef fresh in house (YES PLEASE) and the burger patties are fresh handmade as well. I get mine without cheese and it's the best pub burger I've ever eaten. My wife has gotten the Boddingtons Fish and Chips, the Quattro Formaggio Pizza, and some other things since we've gone there. The service is amazing, the food is immaculate, and the overall atmosphere is what you expect for a tavern: full bar, soft lighting, and comfortable seating. We've had family dine with us here as well and other than an incident with some soggy fries (which got fixed right away) it's been perfect. Even when my wife and I visited our second time ever last year I asked for the manager just to compliment everything. In doing so he gave us a couple 5 dollar off coupons as a thank you though I didn't do it for any kind of special treatment. Sometimes food service workers need to hear a thank you for a thankless job. Been there done that. Our current visit however was the real "test". We had a total of 15 this time. Our server (God I can't remember her name and it's killing me) a very sweet young woman who was on the ball and made sure we had the right food and refills. Nothing got sent back and all of our drinks were fresh and tasty. The fact we were gonna have 20 at first and ended up with 15 yet they still went above and beyond to accommodate when the place was practically packed to the gills is a testament of how a restaurant is run the right way. If there were mistakes I never saw any and no one in our party did either. My wife and I are pro wrestling fans and whenever there's a local show nearby in Hampton it's our tradition to go here for dinner first. And we shall continue to do so. read more

The food was point blank PHENOMENAL! We went Friday night so it was $5 for an espresso martini... We've never had it before and it was so good! My daughter and I opted for their signature stuffed Gouda burger. It was so amazing. The Gouda oozes out with each bite. I just left Park Lane and I'm on my way home in Suffolk now. I'm so disappointed. It wasn't worth my time and the traffic I'm sitting in now. My husband and I dined at Park Lane a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night. The food was delicious. We had the Haddock Blackened Fish Sandwich. Last week I ordered take out, the same, Blackened Haddock and Bread Pudding. It was hot and tasty! Today, 11/24/25 I came back for the same meal which cost me $28. The wood lined bar and the high ceilings with black trimmings reminds me of the Rose & Crown bars you would see around the UK. I got the calamari that had no flavor sadly and the texture was flimsy. For $14, it wasn't a good choice. From prior reviews, I saw how big and juicy their burgers looked. I got the Bacon Stuffed Gouda Burger which was indeed big and juicy, but the meat wasn't seasoned one bit. The BBQ aioli that comes with it does help. Not sure why it's called bacon stuffed cause the bacon was just laid on top - bacon was yummy tho! Service was little slow, but the staff were really friendly and welcoming!
