The food and customer service are below average. The wait time for simple menu items is ridiculous. Greasy catfish nuggets. Mac and cheese need more flavor and/or possible another recipe... soupy. How can you go wrong with fish? You're not greeted upon entry. You don't know if you seat yourself of wait for someone to appear. Staff could benefit from customer service training. A cute quaint space. I was invited for a birthday dinner. When I got to the establishment I realized seating was limited. The owner, who couldn't stop telling everyone his birthday is Monday (8/19) said he would take care of us. There are signs posted that mention an extended wait time for items being prepared. But when we were seated, had to rearrange our own table (again after being told we'd be taken care of) and waited 45 minutes for WATER. That we had to pour ourselves and didn't even bring enough the first time. We ordered a kool aid margarita. It never came. After waiting an hour the owner, aka the bday boy told us he was waiting on the kool aid to be prepared. We watched him pour nothing but mixers in the tower ordered, and proceeded to say it was wild berry . Funny guy. Did I say he mentioned he'd take care of us? Our food did take a long time and it was very good. Well seasoned and piping hot. I will always give props when they are due. But as for my overall experience, I'd never go back. We split the bill and paid. Tax and gratuity added. Birthday boy charged us $65 for a tower of juice. When asked about taking care of us he then offered shots which we all declined. We split our bill and was charged tax and gratuity again. When asked why we weren't able to add a percentage of the tower to each check he was unable to answer. He said that's how this goes. I asked about paying in cash, I was unable to receive a discount as the square he uses is an extra fee. All of our orders were wrong, even with almost everything being sold out. I'm not quite sure why he kept inviting us to brunch when dinner was nothing but comical. We made the best of it but Roux will never get any business from me again. My husband and I had an amazing meal here tonight. The owner was very hospitable and very attentive. Tia made us feel right at home. My only regret is not knowing about this place sooner since we were told they opened in September. After our delicious meal Chef Chop came and thanked us for dining with them tonight. I had the awesome shrimp and grits and my husband had the fried catfish. Great meal and then the fried cheesecake was so yummy. It's the only thing I had a chance to get a photo of. I had previously visited Roux Raw Bar And Grill for their soft opening and was definitely pleased with all they had to offer. I have since anticipated going back for a visit and trying what the new menu had to offer. I consider myself somewhat a connoisseur of sorts especially when considering pancakes as it has always been a childhood favorite. I seen the sweet potato flapjacks on the menu and knew it was time to give them a test and to savor my sweet tooth, of course a to go dessert was in order as I decided on the fried cheesecake to tame my crave. Once I placed my order online, I recieved a call and was delighted to be greeted by chef Chop himself. He let me know he was appreciative for my order and unfortunately was out of one main ingredient (sweet potatoes) to complete my order. He kindly informed me that he could replace it for a variety of other types he can make, and knowing his amazing skill sets, I let him know, Do what you do chef, as I'm sure it will be great. Feel free to surprise me. He obliged and got to work. When I arrived, I was greeted immediately by staff and chef in the back as well. He told me it wouldn't take long to get pancakes out and he wanted to ensure they were freshly done when I arrived and they would be out shortly for me. Surprise! BANANA FOSTERS PANCAKES! Once I got home I plated my items and when I tell you these pancakes are everything, those words do no justice. Imagine the density and fluffiness of IHOP pancakes on a good day having a baby with Cracker Barrels hotcakes. Baaaybee... when I say perfection, it was bliss in every bite. The edges held a light crisp edge while the pancake itself was perfectly crafted. The highlight of this dish was definitely the syrup and the right touch of banana that seemed to be infused in every bite but definitely not too sweet, and just enough. Although this was just two flapjacks, I can honestly say my hunger was totally satisfied; and that usually doesn't happen with just two decent sized pancakes. On to dessert: FRIED CHEESECAKE My oh my... now I love a good cheesecake but all creamy delicacies are not created equal and most times come tasting unfortunately commercial. Not Roux Bar & Grill's though. They definitely pull out all the frills. The fluffy and slightly tart cheesecake filling is carefully wrapped like an egg roll, then deep fried and lightly covered in a magical powdered sugar topping. But wait... there's more! The star of this dish is definitely the freshly made Berry Compote! atop these crispy warm confections, it is the perfect marriage of tart meeting a savory sweet and just the right amount of crunch with the fluffy whipped cream filling. I was once again delightfully pleased and amazed with Chef Chops dishes as they were 5 restaurant quality at a reasonable price. I went in on one occasion with a large party and everything was excellent the food, the service, just everything. I had ordered the catfish platter with Mac and cheese and greens. The greens were kind of under seasoned but all around it was pretty good. Nice music and nice I went again with just 3 guests a few days later and it was terrible. Our food was burnt I ordered the fried chicken and it was obvious the grease needed to be changed. My girlfriends cat sushi was burnt in the outside and raw on the inside. The service was terrible. My girlfriend asked for a mimosa and the waiter had to leave to the nearby corner store to get champagne for it. Speaking of the waiter he was inattentive and we were the only people in the restaurant at the time. Then the owners friend or they might have been regulars came in with their own bottle and started doing shots. A hidden gem that looks to have a promising future. First thing, it may be a little difficult to see from the main street since there is not a larger sign up like the other neighboring businesses. However the food is amazing, and once you know where it is you'll definitely be back. The gouda mac and cheese was beyond typical, more than words can describe. Surprisingly it's wasn't even the highlight of the plate since every part of the dish was amazing in its own way. The collard greens were cooked perfectly, but the chipotle honey chicken was just at a next level from anything I've tried before. The service was great, our food took around 15 mins to come out and it was definitely fresh. I also enjoy their sign of "business disclaimer". To some it may seem perhaps abrupt, however, I view it as a great reminder to folks that everything isn't instant in today's world. Especially with a small business. Side note... -Heaven on a plate- I was simply looking for lunch somewhere I had never been before. I read the reviews on Yelp about this place and decided to go. I had the Gouda Mac n Cheese, Fried Okra, and Cajun Honey Fried Chicken. I added a little bit of hot sauce, though not much to the Mac n Cheese and dipped the Okra into the hot sauce and leftover cheese, finishing off with the chicken. It was like heaven on a plate. Ordered takeout in the era of COVID. We were told 20-25 minutes, so we got there just past 25 min after ordering. The interior has spare decor with a large mural on the wall and New Orleans jazz music playing. There were three parties inside at bar top tables, spaced out. Unfortunately it took another 15-20 minutes for the food to come out. The single server did update me that "fries were being made fresh," but there were multiple disclaimer posters up warning about wait time of running out of food, so the delay may not be a unique event. Once the food came out, the server opened up each container to show me the food before bagging it. The garlic Parmesan fries had large shavings of Parmesan on them--quite decadent! We got fried oyster po-boys which were delicious! The oysters were perfectly cooked and seasoned, crispy outside and tender inside. The bread was the closest to Leidenheimers bread that I've had outside of New Orleans. The fries were a little soggy, but could be due to the takeout container. The food is definitely worth another visit, but we will make sure to set aside adequate time for the wait. read more

This restaurant is black owned by a Louisiana native and South Carolina native, a chef and a teacher combined to create this wonderful experience for many. They include raw bars and more all the food is made fresh daily. The restaurant itself is beautiful , they've created the chairs tables and bars all themselves . Just Wonderful ! Came here on a Saturday just before 1 pm, there were 2 other tables and one bar guest. It is 2:04 and we haven't been served our food. I watched one plate sit in the window for 20 minutes. Then a second plate sit for 10....after the collective 25 minutes of the plates in the window they took it to the table of 3 across from us. The third person the. Waited ANOTHER 10-12 minutes at least before hers came out. It wop and to be two cooks in the kitchen and then the manager. The manager is trying to actively help the cooks but the service is incredibly slow. On top of that they are doing door dash which is just setting them even farther back time-wise. They need more staff and more efficiency. You can see right in the kitchen and I definitely don't see any urgency. There is a sign that says basically expect food to take 15-1 hour because it's cooked to order but this isn't the experience people come out to eat for.
