The Rhythm Room - Salmon Bites

    The Rhythm Room

I got a drink (Crown and ginger ale), the fried green tomatoes and the crab bites. Everything was delicious and the drink definitely would the price. I'll definitely be back to try more of their dishes and check out their after 7 entertainment.

The Rhythm Room is located in the heart of Peninsula Town Center which means finding parking was a bit of a challenge. My friend parked in a parking garage that was fairly close but I had to circle the block a few times and happened to find parking on the street almost 2 blocks away. Before we walked in, security checked our bags and were patting down the guys, which I thought was interesting seeing as though this was more of a restaurant than a bar/club environment but I guess you can't be too sure. We made reservations for 7pm and our table was ready as soon as we arrived. Our server was very nice and greeted us right away. We both ordered the Island Breeze cocktail and it was alright, it tasted more like juice than anything else. For appetizers, we decided on the Mac & Cheese Bites, Buffalo Crab Dip and the Salmon Bites. The food was served fairly quickly but the Mac & Cheese Bites were a bit dry and the Salmon Bites weren't very flavorful. The Buffalo Crab Dip was my favorite and had actually had an abundance of crab, which we enjoyed. We were hoping there would be a live band but was told there wasn't a band on Saturdays, which we thought would've been a nice touch since there's one on Fridays. Eventually, a DJ did show up so that helped create a vibe but it did start getting packed as the evening went on so we decided to leave. Overall, The Rhythm Room was pretty decent. It was a bit of an older crowd when we went but we had a good time nonetheless. If you live in Hampton or want to try out a new spot with a decent vibe, definitely check them out.

Karma Restaurant & Lounge - Drunken Shrimp appetizer

    Karma Restaurant & Lounge

When I initially saw the reviews for Karma, I was afraid to go there for my friend's birthday. Then…read moreI realized their two-star score was based on one review. I had a four star experience. I visited the establishment at night, so it was dark and I don't have many pictures of the decor but it is nicely decorated. I do think that the restrooms could be better. They really do have a laid back, lounge atmosphere with low lighting and both intimate seating at booths with conveniently placed tables for smoking hookah for eating - and floor seating. The musical selection is mostly old school hip hop earlier in the evening. They told us a DJ would be there that evening, but he didn't arrive before we left a little after 10pm. Hookah is really my friend's thing, but I must say that their hookah is the best that I've had in the area. Period. Their menu items were a bit pricey, and we were there for the hookah - so I ordered the shrimp appetizer that came with a spicy citrus remoulade dipping sauce. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, not rubbery or chewy all. They were crispy on the outside and arrived to the table fresh and hot despite the fact that there was a moderate crowd. I will be returning for hookah and to try more of their menu items!

They even let us control the music and take over their restaurant and it turned into a big party and we really appreciate them for that. After all the traveling just to be rained out, they made sure we had a good time. The drinks were amazing. The prices were good..... and I'm tempted to talk to management about hosting an event there

Nothing was set up. They finally let us in because it had to be a fire hazard to have that many people standing in the hallway. Everyone was let in and given wristbands. The lady giving them out didn't know how to put them on, so she just handed them to people. Again general admission tables, seating other than surrounding the pool wasn't available. There was no food after 11, or tables set. 20-30min later there was a dash of people trying to set up. One man in particular, I'm assuming he was in charge, came around apologizing for most of his staff not being present and comping mimosas. He was very aware and alert that everything started sideways and he just wanted to fix it. He was putting out tables and chairs in his suit. The bar seemed extremely slow and behind on fixing drinks. Once things got going the food was ok, no complaints here. It was a beautiful rooftop setting, it was extremely hot, the pop up tents provided shade. I would like to go back to give it another shot, when they are properly staffed and the food is better than "ok".
