Came out here with my twin for our birthday. Very cute, hip environment in the heart of Phoebus…read more The menu is modern Italian, with a large selection of food, including artisan pizzas, pasta dishes, and sandwiches. My favorite food is of course lasagna and that's exactly what I got. It seems like a boring choice, but the thing is, everyone makes lasagna different, and I've been making a point as of late to try lasagna at different places. This one certainly does not disappoint! The pasta is fresh, there are layers of cheese between thing sheets of pasta, so soft that it almost melts off the fork as I slide it in. The Bolognese sauce that's piled on top is heart and robust, but not overwhelming. The whipped Burrata cheese adds a rich touch. For dessert I had olive oil cake. I've never had it before and I was on a mission to try something new, so what better time than on my 42nd birthday, right? It was delicious, with a fruity, herbal, floral flavor topped with a dollop of fresh citrus icing. Service was very fast and friendly. Our server was helpful when I made my selection and I was so happy with my birthday dinner.

We canceled driving to Williamsburg to try it. Nice interior and we caught them literally minutes after opening with us being the second table in. Overall the interior is nice but within minutes of sitting I heard a server complaining about Sinatra and "F" Sinatra. I normally wouldn't care but the lack of professionalism comes up again later and often. Our server, who immediately points at the board to the left of us and says I can't pronounce it but there are the specials, and that she is new. Newness aside now, we place our orders and more people start to arrive. For some reason she is taking every table after us. Except a family that I guess had requested the gent that hates Sinatra. He gave them great service but ours not so great. Weird he wasn't helping her like a service team should, especially since she was new. He only had the family of four. Our dinners arrive from someone else (manager) and the app finally gets cleared, we weren't offered additional drinks at any point. The food, the mushroom chicken was decent, the vodka sauce with my shrimp was the spiciest thing I have had from an Italian place, ever. I enjoy Thai food at medium +, my wife is no slouch for spice and this was borderline Thai hot. It caught me so off guard we switched food as she can handle it better than I can. She gave up on it too, we doctored it up later at home to make it eatable. I also ordered a mushroom/pancetta pizza To-go, we still haven't seen our server back, pizza arrived missing a topping, the pancetta. It takes 15 minutes to get the pancetta in a box separately, to put on later I guess. During this time, my wife visits the restroom, I guess a back of the house employee comes in and one cook in the back yells GTFO we are busy. Right within ear shot of the family with kids next to us with the Sinatra hater. I wish I was making this up as the pasta was obviously made in house and showed promise. But we finally get our server back "Do you want the check?"and weren't offered desert/coffee and it takes over 10-15 minutes to cash out. One of our worst date nights we have had in recent memory.

While others may have a more extensive wine list, Azzurri blends family-friendly comfort food with a warm, inviting, and clean atmosphere. Pair that with the friendly, personable staff and restaurant full of regulars and locals, and you have a winner all around. I even saw one couple walk in, hold up two fingers, and were recognized and seated immediately by the owner (by the way, this place is owned and run by a family--one gentleman even cooks in the kitchen some while his mother serves guests.) I've ordered the same dish elsewhere and this was the best I've had. It was absolutely clear to me that everything truly was homemade. If I had any suggestions, it would be a more extensive wine list and olives in the house salad! But that's trivial really, because this place is already a total gem. I look forward to many more meals here. Not pictured here is the pizza; a local fan favorite that I can vouch for.

You could tell the staff was hustling to keep up with all their tables, but they never dropped the ball. Nice cozy vibe too, felt intimate without being cramped. Portions were generous, no complaints there. We had a mix of pastas and pizzas across the table and everyone walked away happy -- food was solidly in the 7.5-8.5/10 range from all of us. Only thing , entrees come with a salad, but you can upgrade to soup instead. I'm not really a salad guy so I asked about soup, and I'm glad I did because it was really good. Just wish that was more clearly listed on the menu (maybe I missed it, but a few of us didn't realize it was an option until I asked). Definitely worth a revisit.

There were a ton of us plus other lunch customers, and the restaurant was severely understaffed but they pulled through. It appears to be a family run business, and they were all really nice. The lady who took our orders in particular was amazing. She took our orders and also had to cook the food. She was such a sweet lady who didn't buckle under pressure and deserves all the good praise. For the price, you get a surprisingly large meal. For $13 I got the chicken parm that came in a giant plate with tons of angel hair, chicken and some toast. I had to get a box to finish the rest for dinner. Other people's subs/calzones were also quite generous in size (especially the calzone). So you want a big meal for a good price, this is the place. In terms of flavors though my chicken parm was on the blander side. There was more pasta than sauce so it really thinned out by the time you started mixing them. There was also just not a lot of seasoning in general both in the pasta and in the chicken. It's one of those things where adding a bit of parmesan (which is one of the condiments) provided) might do the trick but I guess you get what you pay for. Again, our waitress also had to multitask so that might have a lot to do with it. The venue itself is not all that striking in decor. It's very plain and does the job. We reserved an area because there were a lot of us and the place we got seated at had a bunch of toys and stuff just right behind us and we had to put some of our things next to them. It would have been nice if the space was cleared out. Overall, nothing incredibly special. But a wonderful, wholesome staff.

He stayed in touch with me from the moment we booked, checked in often, and made sure everything ran smoothly the day of. His warmth, professionalism, and genuine care set the tone for the whole event. The entire family and staff were just as kind and attentive. We had over 75 guests, and every single person had something wonderful to say, the food was delicious, the service was flawless, and the atmosphere felt like being welcomed into someone's home. They truly went above and beyond for us. After the event, a few of us lingered and were joined by their Nona (Mima). She is pure light - warm, welcoming, and full of love. The highlight of the meal was definitely the Italian sub. I added sweet peppers, and that was absolutely the right move. It was fresh, flavorful, and packed with quality meats and toppings. If I come back, it will be for the sub alone--and maybe to give one of their pizzas a try. The chicken marsala, however, was a letdown. The chicken cutlet was thicker than I prefer and ended up being a little tough. More importantly, the marsala sauce lacked the rich, hearty flavor that makes this dish so comforting. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't have the depth or savory mushroom-forward flavor I was expecting. Overall, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The Greek salad was fresh and a nice addition to the meal, but it wasn't enough to make up for the disappointment of the entrée. Since this was a takeout order, I can't really comment much on the overall service. The young lady who handed me my food wasn't particularly friendly, but she wasn't rude either--just kind of neutral. The interaction was quick and uneventful. Overall, Mamma Rosa's wasn't a bad experience, but it also wasn't one that left me eager to return. The Italian sub was excellent and is the only thing that would bring me back, along with maybe trying a pizza. As for the pasta dishes, I don't think I'd order those again

I'm not big into Italian food so maybe that's why. But just this Friday, a friend in a social group celebrated her birthday. So I decided to join in and finally check out this spot. Overall, it's not that big of a restaurant, but it can fit a decent crowd. After enjoying some salad and garlic bread, we were all ready to order. My meal was Pollo Marsala. Overall, the dish was good. I preferred slightly bigger chicken breasts, but what I had was good enough. The protein was cooked nicely and there was enough spaghetti to mix with the chicken and mushrooms. I also had some grated parmesean cheese which added some flavor to the dish.
