Chic-A-Sea Restaurants - Updated menu - Fast Food Near Me - Hampton, Virginia

I come here to get my fried chicken and corn fritter fix ! The staff is always super nice and efficient. The restaurant is a little small but they deliver BIG flavor! The food is absolutely delicious - it tastes like it came straight out of your grandmama's kitchen. I'm from the south where we like to eat & this is one of my steeple places to eat comfort food! Always a pleasure, and always taken care of!!! (Heads up on the man who hangs around the front.. he stays asking for a big chick combo with fries and cherry soda) lol he gets me every time & I always buy for him. I'd rather give food than money he's harmless but don't be offended if he walks up and asks. He's just hungry, feed him. Xo read more

Great food, the service is ight, the location and area is ight...laid back atmosphere, drama free

Getting in/out is horrible close quarters maneuvering to get through. The food is good

Had the Big Chic sandwich ! Very small for $6 sandwich but it's still good. Would definitely order before picking up because it was very busy and I heard it's busy like this on a regular. Also posted my review with the business hrs since google doesn't have the right one read more

Hot, made to order. You will wait but it is fresh. I like to patronize local, small businesses, keeping our money where we live. I had the fish & chips; two large fillets and more than enough fries for $7 & some change. I thoroughly enjoyed it, delicious! Next time I'll try some barnyard bird!! read more

Super weird location but I kept hearing great things about this place. Fries were pretty cold but sandwich was good, seasoned great and especially with their signature sauce. Customer service isn't all that and be prepared to wait for a little or you can order ahead (we ordered ahead). read more

I have been to this Chic a Sea for decades. People have an issue with the location. The church was originally a grocery store and the restaurant (which used to be a tad bigger) was in a strip mall. Everything in the strip mall has changed (now a school or day care), the grocery store is now a church, but Chic a Sea is still frying chicken and people are still lining up to get it. A Hampton staple!!! Can't ever go wrong with a place when people are ALWAYS there to get that chicken! You know it's good when church's order it for their big gatherings! read more

I've been going to this restaurant for years. The food still reminds me of my childhood. Going there with family and friends. The only thing missing was the soft serve ice cream. The service is still open and friendly. There still isn't a long wait for your order. All in pretty good for a family run business. Will continue to go to this restaurant as long as they are in business. M Person read more

been going to chic a sea for years. my co-worker tells me she came to purchase a large order for a church function and was given a city worker discount. Her first time ever ordering. she's very trustworthy I go to order and told that's not true. very disappointed with the favoritism and lack of honesty. read more

I've recently heard this place mentioned in a song and on other friends' social media posts, so I figured it was worth the try. The restaurant is attached to a church and I initially thought the Chick a Sea sign was just left up in rememberance. Thank goodness there was a church member outside because she directed us to the entrance. Upon entering, the view, the signage, and smell aren't too appealing and it basically is a hole in the wall joint with a Ms. PAC MAN arcade game and enough seating to fit about 8 people. The staff at the register were extremely nice and patient. They are behind a glass, but seemed to hear me pretty well. Looking behind the staff at the register. I saw a huge cutting board with whole chickens being cut and dipped in flour. It is made FRESH! There was another employee in the back informing everyone of what needed to be cleaned for the night so that is a plus. We ordered the 3 piece dinner with macaroni salad and a 5 wing meal with fries with Cherry Soda. I wasn't adventurous enough to try any side other than fries. The sides were ok, but the chicken is what I will definitely order next time. My chicken was still a nice warm temperature after arriving back to the house. It wasn't over seasoned, but it had enough seasoning on it where the flavor was just right. Definitely going back, but again, only for the chicken! read more

I drove all the way from Newport News to Hampton to get chicken from this place and when I saw the sign I pulled in but no restaurant. A sign said chic a sea yes we're open. I hadn't been there in years and I could have sworn there was a drive in but I didn't find it. SMDH read more

The food is amazing customer service is ok but the food will have you coming back for more

I go there at least once a week for a big chick or a green plate. The food is always good and fresh. Customer service is good for the most part, they take the order and you wait lol it's that simple. There is no ambiance or aesthetically pleasing parts about this place just get your food and bounce. I saw a person review that stated two stars because she went and didn't see the restaurant well Lynn it's there and there was never a drive thru at the Hampton location. Drive thru is in Newport News‍. Overall tho it's good but eat it while it's hot because the taste changes to me once it's cold. read more

Ordered a 3 piece white and when I got to work it was a 3 piece dark. They asked me to bring it back, by the time I got off they would be closed. The only option I was given was to bring it back the next day or they would have me buy another 3 piece dark and will upgrade it to white. What kind of customer service is this? I have to buy more chicken in order to get my original order! Such poor customer service!!! read more

You can't go wrong with a 757 classic. Yes, they are a little slow and the cashier can be rude BUT once you get a taste of that chicken all your complaints go out the window. Their signature is the Big Chic Sandwich and corn fritters. Both are an ABSOLUTE most have!!! read more

the chicken sandwich fries and hushpuppies are my go to order, and I enjoy everything every single time. Just a heads up though, it appears this location is run out of a old kitchen church, but do not let that turn you away. Also, expect to wait, it is a popular local spot so trust when the cashier may say just two more minutes, they mean it and it will be worth the wait in my opinion. Ive also had the pleasure of eenjoying thee fried chicken and corn fritters. read more

Chic-A-Sea Restaurants - ows a chicken sandwich in a styrofoam container - Fast Food Near Me - Hampton, Virginia

I have grown up on Chic A Sea's food and surprisingly, even when I was a child - I remember the service being slow, the associates being rude, but the food was on point! I'm talking slap your mama good! This chain (only available in Hampton and Newport News) is like the best chicken shack experience ever (only when it comes to the food!) I fancy a big chic, but the wings and the gizzards are good with fries or corn fritters! The wild cherry soda is the icing on the cake, like where do y'all find this specific brand of cherry soda?! Is it a secret recipe?! Anyway, be mindful that every Chic a Sea is in a sketchy neighborhood (I'm being politically correct but it's in the hood). I was at this location last week and a fight almost broke out between a customer and the cashier. Seriously. I just wanted my chicken! I was willing to risk my life for it. What's good food without a little risk?! Live a little! read more

I have been to this location many times, but never thought about writing a review. The place is too small to eat at and location is odd as well. They are located inside of a church on W. Pembroke Ave. Not the greatest looking place so I always just pick up my food. I love the chicken gizzards and normally I try to get my wife to pick up two orders on her way sometimes. The fried chicken is one of my favorites as it is seasoned just right and hot and crunchy always. Never had any of the fish, but people say it is good as well. The apple turnover is tasty as well. Another popular item is the Big Chic (chicken sandwich)and I have been meaning to try the shrimp basket as well one of these days. While not the most welcomed looking place the staff is very professional and friendly so I would give Chic-a-Sea a good if in the area and want some simple fried foods. Lastly I would highly recommended that if you know what you want to just call it in so to make your wait a lot shorter. read more

Chic-A-Sea Restaurants - Doesn't look like it but the place is located on the left entrance to the church (The Messiah Center) - Fast Food Near Me - Hampton, Virginia

Opening time is incorrectly posted. They don't open until 10:30 am. Not Ten. Corn fritters!!!!

I'm giving this restaurant a three star review because of the customer service, not because of the food itself. I've had the gizzard snack with fries and I've tried the big chic sandwich with cherry soda. I loved them both! Customer service can really use some improvement though. Nonetheless, I'd return. read more

I came here because I was hungry and it was close. When I saw it was in a church I almost left. Didn't want to start on fire or get struck by lightning. I decided to scope it. I absolutely love there food. The food is always fresh and made to order. There is a older lady that works the register that could be a tad bit more friendly but i'm not here to complain. This place is like home. I don't know how anyone from this area could give it less than five stars. It's a bit of an experience, especially considering that it's inside of a church, but the chicken is perfect. Always fresh and crispy. Get the big chick and try the corn fritters. read more

Really good chicken sandwiches but I always feel awkward going there because it is located inside of a church.

This location was there before the church was added. It was originally a strip mall with just a few stores and a large grocery store named Safeway. read more

Going tomorrow. My husband thought it was closed. It's been 5 plus years since we have one of those sandwiches.

You have never tasted food like this, unless you eat your dreams. And chances are, you'll never taste food like this again en tu vida. I would open one of these up if I had the talent to prepare such delicious comidas. I always get those fish burger things and the apple or corn "fritters" that come with it. I'm from Spain, I didn't know that fritters was a word. But I recommend Chic-A-Sea to all who desire foods that soak your taste buds in complete bliss. Estupendo!(fantastic, marvelous) read more
