I got the tacos governador, they're shrimp tacos with grilled onions, bell peppers, and cheese. They were amazing. The shrimp was so fresh, plump, and perfectly grilled. The onions and peppers still had a little crunch to them, so all the textures worked beautifully together. I took my food to go and rated a 5/5, but I'm sure it would have been even better if I ate it immediately there if that's even possible. It also came with this special sauce, but it didn't really need it. They were amazing as is. I did like dipping my chips in the sauce. I also loved the chips and salsa. They're the thicker cut chips and can hold a lot. The salsa was fresh and no heat to it, but you could taste the peppers. The employees were very nice and helped me because I came in thinking I knew exactly what I wanted lol but completely forgot the name. It seems like a local restaurant because the employees were very friendly with all the customers there, and seemed like they knew everyone. If I have time before I leave, I'll definitely come back! Thank you for a great dinner and first proper meal in Virginia!

We came here two weekends ago actually as a Plan B because our first choice ran out of food items. Let's see if our Plan B worked out. Seating was available for the most part when we walked in. After looking through the menu for a bit, I chose the buffalo chicken fries. It's actually an appetizer dish, but I actually got full before finishing. I took the leftovers home and finished that evening. Another great stop here for the both of us. What more can you ask for receiving great food with great care from the staff. Long version: So I went to check out this Mexican spot in Hampton and it was pretty interesting. The little mall that this place is in looks run down and I was wondering if my car was going to get broken into while it was parked there. But once you get inside this place has some interesting vibes and tons of fun decorations. I got the California burrito with a Mexican Coke and highly recommend! It is a 14 inch burrito that you can hold in your hand with guac, shredded Monterey Jack, carne asada steak, crispy fries with cotija cheese. There was a big group of people (maybe 10-12) in there when we arrived that was eating up a lot of the attention of the one waiter. Also, we had a long wait for food because they actually ran out of steak that was prepped and so they had to prep more and grill it up for the burrito. My friend got the OG burrito which he thought was good, but was a little soggy from the juice from the chicken. Even with everything, I would still recommend this place, and their California burrito was amazing.

My selection for lunch was quesabirria with consome as a dipper. When it arrived, it was actually birria tacos. I did ask the server about it, but he said it's quesabirria. Kind of confusing, but I'm sure it's tacos. Nonetheless, the meal had me full. The birria was well cooked and seasoned with other ingredients. A little messy, but it was all fine. And the consome was so good I actually sipped the rest after I was done. Even with the selection situation, I was satisfied with the meal for the afternoon. We tried the Stuffed Jalapeños, Steak Fajitas, and Fried Whole Tilapia and after a couple of bites of each dish, we had to abandon ship. Even the complimentary chips and salsa were bad, and the ranch dressing that also accompanied the chips for some reason also didn't help. What really sealed the experience for us was the response when we told the waitress (Alejandra E) that the food was terrible. Instead of showing any concern or trying to make things right, she copped an attitude and simply asked if we wanted everything wrapped up to go. Why would we take home food we couldn't even eat in the restaurant? (((BAFFLED!))) Our "Go-To" Mexican restaurants back home are Uncle Julio's, On The Border, and Guapo's, so if you have a similar taste palate, RUN the other way. SAVE your money, SAVE your appetite, and spend it somewhere that actually cares about the food and customer experience! This was easily one of the WORST restaurant experiences we've had--EVER. We left this restaurant and headed to Carrabba's Italian. Double the expense we were expecting for Lunch, but the food at La Parrilla was simply INEDIBLE.

After Sophia and I went to the movies over the weekend, we finally got the chance to check them out. Let's see if they lived up to the hype. We were promptly seated after walking inside. It's very spacious where you can have a small gathering. Amazingly, we were only one of two couples inside during lunch time. Traveling in this part of Newport News can have you blink and miss the location. Nonetheless, service was good. As far as the food goes, very good and filling. I forgot the exact burrito I ordered but it came filled with chicken, chorizo and rice topped with queso and pico de gallo. Both proteins are some of my favorites in Mexican dishes. I did think the amount of rice was more than the protein but not to where it was a disappointment. It was a minute since I ate a burrito and this one satisfied yours truly. There are a few factors why I gave Guapo's 4 out of 5. For starters, our table wasn't completely clean. Even if the place isn't full, you have to have decor spotless no matter what. Also, they were doing some painting near the window. It was strong at first but the scent decreased later on. When it came to chips and salsa, the dropped the ball sort of speak. The chips were cold to the touch and the salsa was underwhelming for Sophia's taste. Other than the snafus, our visit was good. This spot is one that we'll definitely repeat. Till next time :)

Good reviews on there, as well as here on Yelp, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I ordered some fresh guacamole, pork tacos, and pico (since it didn't indicated on the menu whether or not pico came with the tacos). The guac - good. Really good. It also held up well when stored in the fridge, so I was able to enjoy a couple more days of a tasty snack. The chips that came with it though - super stale, borderline inedible. Luckily I had some Tostitos on hand and was able to work around it. The pork tacos were just...eh? There was more cilantro in them than meat, and the pork wasn't seasoned very well. Not much flavor at all. The pico was good though, and such a big portion, I was able to use it on some eggs and other recipes throughout the week. Overall, this was just alright for me - I likely won't order from here again since my regular place is just soooooo good. Maybe my experience would have been better if I'd gone to the restaurant rather than ordering take-away, but I prefer places that can nail both options consistently.
