Sophia and I have not been here in a year but are no strangers to CM Chicken. For years, we've either dined in or ordered takeout when they offered discounts. Right before we left for the Christmas trip home, we decided to stop by and catch up. Let's see how the visit went. There were hardly any people inside when we walked in which was perfectly fine with us. The staff as always greeted us before we got seated. And the vibe was very relaxed throughout. After a few minutes of looking over the order, we were ready. Mine consisted of honey chicken wings (10) and a side of curly fries. I had the honey chicken tenders previously and enjoyed my selection. So why not go with the flavor again?! The food itself was good. Never have I ever had a bad dish here so that streak is perfect. The wings were crunchy as always and the honey flavor wasn't too sweet for my palate. The curly fries, as always, were the perfect side. A big staple of one of my favorite places for dinner. I don't know how they did it.. but somehow they got faster and better over time. Went in and it was not super busy and they're always so friendly to find a place for you. We sat down and were promptly asked what we wanted to drink and handed a menu. Got our drinks and then since we already knew what we wanted, we placed our orders. Here's the wild part - the food came in faster than a Mexican restaurant. At first I was skeptical as to how they managed to get it done so fast.. it can't be good. Welp one bite in and that quelled all those thoughts. Still delicious and incredible as can be. If you like korean fried chicken in general, you would definitely like this place. I really really like the hot spicy one, even though I thought it would burn the living inside of my mouth. In reality, it was about a 6/10 on spice. It built up a little bit, but they had a nice amount of sweetness along with the gochujang, and I really enjoyed the blend of flavors. If you like the spicy buldak ramen I'm sure you might like this too. We ordered a lot of the flavors, including curry, snow, garlic, soy, honey, garlic, lemon, and finally the hot spicy one they're all really good in their own respective ways and even the original chicken itself was really good. If you're afraid of spice, I think the garlic soy or the curry ones are your best bet. I really enjoyed both of them, but especially the garlic soy. The sauce was sweet, umami, and tangy and allowed the chicken to still be crispy underneath. Better than other restaurants like Bonchon. The lemon was really nice too. I love the scallions. They had a little bit of brightness to the dish. The lemon scallions were good mixed with the other flavors. The service was awesome. The lady, who I assume was the owner, was super nice to us along with the waiter. They gave us a lot of time to wait for a whole party to arrive and they gave us recommendations and made sure to advise us on the menu. We had one person in our party that had peanut allergies and she clarified that all the stuff they cook does have a little bit of peanut oil so if you are really allergic to peanuts, I would definitely avoid this place but apart from that you will definitely enjoy eating here. CM chicken is a franchise if you didn't know so if you like this spot and are not local to the area, I'm sure there might be a spot close by to you wherever you reside on the East Coast. read more

The restaurant was not busy, but it was windy and rainy out, when we walked in. The server immediately came and took our drink order. Came back quickly with drinks and answered some questions we had about spice levels. I ordered the garlic spicy wings with curly fries and my co-worker got the garlic soy wings with curly fries. The food came out quickly and served hot and fresh. The wings were AMAZING! Not too spicy and had a delicious flavor. The fries were good as well. Great food and great service. We had questions about the menu and the waitress gave great and detailed explanations. It was quiet first thing on a Sunday, so we had a easy going vibe. I love Korean fried chicken so much that I drove an hour to get here just for their food. They are one of the best Korean fried chicken places in Virginia. There used to be one nearby, but it closed down during the pandemic. I tried two different locations after that, but neither had Tikkudan. Tikkudan is a fried chicken dish where the chicken (wing or tender) is coated with sauce and then put back into the oven to cook. This method helps the chicken absorb the flavor of the sauce and prevents it from getting soggy. The finished product has a light charcoal flavor. I noticed the price is getting higher since the pandemic. they offered lunch special which is not really anything special when the price is lower but portion cuts half. Service was a bit off, the waitress gave us the menu then never came back to take order, i had to walk over to the counter and saw they were just talking behind the counter ignoring the customers. read more

Honestly, it felt like the restaurant must have paid him for that glowing review, because we did not receive anything close to the same quality or service. We ordered two types of wings. The first order was made completely wrong. We specifically asked for the sauce to be poured onto the wings and to have the onions on the side. Korean Fried Chicken. Cant beat it. Got some for my my mom and her work (they are all Korean) and they couldnt stop talking about it. only down fall, is its pricey for what you get. I rank my decisions to eat somewhere again as: 1 star - if someone else buys it I won't eat it, I would rather go hungry. 2 star - if I'm hungry, no other options are open and someone buys it - I would consider eating it 3 star - I'm ok with eating it as long as someone else pays 4 star - I will eat again and pay for it and be a semi-regular customer 5 star - I will travel for good food and pay good money and be back on a regular basis and maybe even pay for yours just so we can go read more

I ordered the lemon chicken, side of kimchi. The food was very small portions for the high prices. The lemon chicken was five pieces for $18, the lemon sauce was put on the side, when I got home most of the lemon sauce had spilled out into the bag - I was able to taste a little of it and it seemed to be made of tahini and lemon juice. Today was my second visit to this hidden gem of a Korean chicken joint. My first visit was a week ago and I tried their Tikkudan Red Hot Pepper wings...a fried and then oven-baked delight per bite. The sauce on those wings was spicy, but not too hot and slightly sweet. It almost reminds me of a sweet and tangy sriracha. This new visit I partook of Tikkudan Curry Tenders which I covered in my side of Snow Onions. I also had kimchi on the side with a Diet Pepsi. The kimchi was very flavorful with a hint of heat. The Tikkudan Curry Tenders were quite thick and meaty. They were cooked to crispy perfection. The curry sauce on them was really nice. It had a medium heat to it. But if I had to choose between the previously tried Red Hot Pepper sauce and the Golden Curry sauce, I'd pick the Pepper sauce hands down. The Snow Onions was a sliced raw white onion drenched in a sweet, zesty, white and creamy sauce. Amazingly tasty. They do offer Snow Onion smothered chicken here, but it limits you on the flavor you can have your actual chicken sauces in. So I just got the Snow Onion as a side and covered my tenders in them myself. Now for the elephant in the room for some based on other reviews I've read. Pricing. CM Chicken is quite pricey for a chicken spot. 10 wings is going to run you about $18, tenders about $16, sides run from $5 minimum on up. But the real vale seems to be a whole chicken for around $28. So expect to pay for this quality of Korean dining. As someone who works for a living I feel I deserve a treat sometimes. So while I may not be coming to CM Chicken on a daily or weekly basis, I damn sure will keep coming back for the occasional treat. It's too good to stay away and I find myself craving this uniquely tasty chicken. It's the best fried chicken I've had in this area, no doubt about it. read more

The KFC was pretty solid here! The only complaint is that for the long wait, I wished it came out hot. When my wings came out, the temperature of my wings were a bit below warm. I'm not sure what the issue was but that's just my expectations for KFC. I ordered a side of the snow onion and they gave me a full plate. There was no way I was able to finish that. The sauce was like a cream with thinly sliced onions. I could've done without it but wanted to try. It would pair well if you're eating super hot wings. I opt for the soy garlic wings instead. Overall, the customer service was good. If you're a KFC lover, I highly recommend trying this restaurant. The texture is different from most places I've been to. I love me some good chicken. Typically going into a chicken place I get as expected, average wings with sauce. I go to a lot of chicken spots and I can tell you that they caught me off guard. The chicken wings and drums are big and they are covered with sauce. It's basically a mountain. I ordered the snow onion. The onions were freshly cut made my eyes water. They knew exactly what they were doing. There was enough sauce to cover even the wings hidden at the bottom and just enough oil to make them perfectly crisp and not too greasy to where it gets on your hands or make you sick.
