I've had Korean fried chicken in a couple of places but this is probably the best I've had in coastal Virginia. It's a no frills kind of joint, about 7 or 8 tables lined up down a hallway and there are some stools at the window too. Nobody else was in the place when I arrived on a Friday at 1 pm, not a great sign. The soy garlic wings were excellent, a little sweet, but not mild, I could taste just a tiny hint of spice. Super crispy skin, juicy meat, and cooked thoroughly, and good size, exactly as a wing should be served. I ordered the spicy garlic as well and it was quite hot, maybe medium-hot if I had to rate it. I was excited to find out that a new Korean Fried Chicken place is opening up here in Hampton. YES, you heard it right, HAMPTON!! (Also, another branch in Virginia Beach located next to the Lynnhaven Mall) After many failed attempts of driving by to see if they're open, I finally saw the grand opening sign and went inside immediately. After speaking to the waitress, I was told they opened the day prior, on the 6th of February. We were seated right away and even though they just opened a day ago, the restaurant was bustling with so many Koreans! That's always a great sign! I've honestly never seen so manny in one place in Hampton! After some thought, we ordered the Spicy Tikkudak and the Soy Garlic Onion wings. The Tikkudak is a style of wings that is first fried in oil, tossed in sauce, and then put back in the charcoal grill oven for added crunch! **I HIGHLY recommend this** Korean wings are known to take awhile to cook, so we went in with the mindset that we would wait around 45 min for our food, but we had our meals in about 20~25 min! The oven wings took longer but it was so worth it! We got the soy garlic wings first, and to our surprise, it still had a kick to it! Maybe because it was topped off with fresh green onions.. I'm not quite sure. The spicy chicken wings were VERY SPICY. Not like the traditional korean "Yang Yum" sauce, which is more sweet heat. So YOU WERE WARNED. Their flavored calamari also makes this place a really good spot if you're into fried calamari. I had soy garlic calamari, and as a calamari connoisseur, this place didn't disappoint. Their Calamari is tender and juicy, the breading is wonderfully crispy and you can tell they really care about the ingredients.
