    Cheeseburger w/fries

Last weekend, Sophia and I headed here for lunch for Newport News Restaurant week. This here is well-known in the area for breakfast and lunch dishes so we decided to check it out for ourselves. When we got settled, we were ready to place our order, but there was a surprise. They didn't have any of ingredients handy for the selected dishes due to a misunderstanding as to when the specials were ending. At first, we were gonna leave since none of the dishes were available. But with us a bit hungry, we decided to stay. We decided to just be simple and order their homestyle cheeseburgers. I ordered it with the usual veggies with provolone cheese and mustard with a side of fries. I gotta admit this was very delicious. The patty was well cooked and veggies were plenty. The slight negative was the fries weren't seasoned but tasted good. You can't go wrong with ketchup by your side. Even though we were bummed by no NNRW meals available, this made up for it big time. Very good food and great service....can't ask for anything else. We will be back soon to check out their breakfast selections. Till next time :)

Great burgers and BBQ! This time we had the N'awlins Burger with fries and the Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich with their house-made potato chips. Fabulous!

Oh my goodness!!! This hole in the wall bar and grill is so freaking good the actual midtown eats part up front reminds me of the Chinese take out places very small and just simple But the food is amazing. We chose to sit on the bar side which offers the same menu but a totally different atmosphere Pool tables tvs and bar jokes We tried the nawalins burger which had Cajun shrimp on the burger it's was so so good the Philly cheese here is as close to Philadelphia phillys as can get so delicious And these weird bbq cheddar balls the bar tender recommended. Now these were mind blowing they had pulled pork inside and had a perfect crunch but the best part was the BLUEBERRY yes BLUEBERRY barbecue sauce served with them as a dipping sauce The waitress told us it is house made and her favorite Also to mention she was amazing so funny and kept up conversation with us all night She even gave me a sample of the lucky charms ipa I saw they had on tap. :)

My first time ordering from here. I got the Brisket Platter and the Cheese Curds. The brisket was sliced thin and was very fatty. I've never had this type of brisket before I will say the meat was tender and the bbq sauce has a nice flavor. The coleslaw was a bit bland and the hushpuppies were ok. The Mac and cheese was really good and saved the meal. Ive never had cheese curds before I thought they tasted good and the sauce went well with them.

Staff heard it was my friends birthday and brought her this amazing bread pudding! The employees are so kind! Thank you so much for going the extra mile to make her day special.

Omelets were huge with good portions. Coffee tasted great. Server was attentive. First time visiting while in Newport News. Will visit again!

First time trying this from here and I enjoyed it! I wanted a late dinner, so I searched for restaurants that was in the late evening. This restaurant stays open until 1:10am which is great for late night cravings. My meal was freshly made and the food was nice, hot and plump. The tartare sauce was creamy too. Oh, and I ate one shrimp.

I decided to order a New Yorker with onion rings for my lunch break. The last time I'd ordered from here the food was delicious! Unfortunately, this time it seemed as if things were a bit rushed. The onions rings still had uncooked flour in them. The sandwich was pretty decent thankfully.

I felt comfortable and engrossed in conversation with the staff and other patrons in a way that had me coming back the next night for dinner again. All too often, the sports-pub vibe will let you down, but this place takes each item on its menu seriously and cares considerably about what they're plating in front of you. It makes me feel like something special is happening in that kitchen like the show "The Bear." If the bartenders ask you if you want the potato salad as your side because it's made in house, then trust him. He's telling you this for a reason because you're about to embark on a culinary experience of a lifetime. What I assume is typically a college bar, this place is quite a wonderful little find. Mind you, I happened to come through on two evenings during the summer holidays so maybe the vibe is different in October but I can't recommend it more based on my experience.

I came in for lunch today with 2 teenagers. We ordered a large cheese pizza. Not one of us ate a 2nd piece. The cheese and sauce were both pretty flavorless but the crust was really weird; like eating a double layer of cardboard. The bottom of the crust was pretty well-cooked, almost burnt, so maybe that's why. It was tough and flavorless. Not at all like any other brick- fired pizza I've had. Would not recommend.

I was pretty stoked b/c he had been bragging about it for years. Went here with high expectations and the wings we got were drowning in sauce and just not great texture. I can't place it but they were on par with the chain style wing places. When we dug into it a bit more, the original owners of the place sold it. It's unfortunate because the sauce itself was good. You can tell that there is/was something there. Now why the 1? I had to go to the bathroom... and they didn't put up a closed sign (should've) or had a plumber fix the issue. What I saw in that bathroom will be forever imprinted in my mind. I won't get super graphic - I'll just say that it made port-o-potties look like a 5-star hotel in comparison. I will never, ever go back here. There's the saying about a kitchen cleanliness in comparison to the bathroom. These new owners are gonna tank this place fast if they can't find the rhythm. FOOD COMA ALERT!!! MUST EAT!!!…read more I had my husband pick up dinner from here so I can't review on service or ambience myself. My husband did say that the guy working there was friendly and super helpful. Food-wise though, I can definitely review. I was impressed off the bat with the packaging of the food. It came in a cardboard box with a handle, making for clean and easy transport while looking aesthetically pleasing. Even unboxing it, the presentation of it was packed away nicely and all food items were separate. Not going to lie, I was a little worried and disappointed when I saw the wings. I'm so used to wings looking saucy and normally when wings look dry, it's a sign that it's not going to be good. But that small negativity was squashed when I took my first bite! Not only were the wings super flavorful, it was juicy and well-cooked. I love how big the wings were, making the portions well deserved its price. The fries were also golden and crispy. I only got to each 2 wings each (4 altogether) before getting satisfyingly full. I can't wait to dig into the rest for lunch tomorrow! Overall, I will definitely be getting my wings here instead of wing stop when I'm craving some chicken. Everyone must come and try this place out!

This is a gem hidden in what one might call a not so great neighborhood. Don't let appearances stop…read moreyou though, it's a quality place where the staff is friendly and attentive. I got a 6pc spicy garlic wing with fries. If you're in a hurry you should order ahead because everything is made to order; mine took prob a hair over 10 mins. But, both the fries and wings were super hot so I had to give them a few to cool down. When I got the wings the guy asked me if I liked the hot spice, I said yes, he laughed then handed me some gloves. At that point I got a lil nervous. As someone who likes spice, this was perfect...enough to get my sinuses going with great flavor. The only drawback was that they were too hot heat (not spice) wise and I didn't wait long enough before getting into them. Check the place out, it's worth the trip.
