    Cheeseburger w/fries
    Damien J.

Last weekend, Sophia and I headed here for lunch for Newport News Restaurant week. This here is well-known in the area for breakfast and lunch dishes so we decided to check it out for ourselves. When we got settled, we were ready to place our order, but there was a surprise. They didn't have any of ingredients handy for the selected dishes due to a misunderstanding as to when the specials were ending. At first, we were gonna leave since none of the dishes were available. But with us a bit hungry, we decided to stay. We decided to just be simple and order their homestyle cheeseburgers. I ordered it with the usual veggies with provolone cheese and mustard with a side of fries. I gotta admit this was very delicious. The patty was well cooked and veggies were plenty. The slight negative was the fries weren't seasoned but tasted good. You can't go wrong with ketchup by your side. Even though we were bummed by no NNRW meals available, this made up for it big time. Very good food and great service....can't ask for anything else. We will be back soon to check out their breakfast selections. Till next time :)

Great burgers and BBQ! This time we had the N'awlins Burger with fries and the Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich with their house-made potato chips. Fabulous!

Oh my goodness!!! This hole in the wall bar and grill is so freaking good the actual midtown eats part up front reminds me of the Chinese take out places very small and just simple But the food is amazing. We chose to sit on the bar side which offers the same menu but a totally different atmosphere Pool tables tvs and bar jokes We tried the nawalins burger which had Cajun shrimp on the burger it's was so so good the Philly cheese here is as close to Philadelphia phillys as can get so delicious And these weird bbq cheddar balls the bar tender recommended. Now these were mind blowing they had pulled pork inside and had a perfect crunch but the best part was the BLUEBERRY yes BLUEBERRY barbecue sauce served with them as a dipping sauce The waitress told us it is house made and her favorite Also to mention she was amazing so funny and kept up conversation with us all night She even gave me a sample of the lucky charms ipa I saw they had on tap. :)

My first time ordering from here. I got the Brisket Platter and the Cheese Curds. The brisket was sliced thin and was very fatty. I've never had this type of brisket before I will say the meat was tender and the bbq sauce has a nice flavor. The coleslaw was a bit bland and the hushpuppies were ok. The Mac and cheese was really good and saved the meal. Ive never had cheese curds before I thought they tasted good and the sauce went well with them.

Beer battered dipped gulf shrimp deep fried with tartare sauce. Also comes with homemade hush puppies, coleslaw and your choice of side.

First time trying this from here and I enjoyed it! I wanted a late dinner, so I searched for restaurants that was in the late evening. This restaurant stays open until 1:10am which is great for late night cravings. My meal was freshly made and the food was nice, hot and plump. The tartare sauce was creamy too. Oh, and I ate one shrimp.

Staff heard it was my friends birthday and brought her this amazing bread pudding! The employees are so kind! Thank you so much for going the extra mile to make her day special.

Omelets were huge with good portions. Coffee tasted great. Server was attentive. First time visiting while in Newport News. Will visit again!

I decided to order a New Yorker with onion rings for my lunch break. The last time I'd ordered from here the food was delicious! Unfortunately, this time it seemed as if things were a bit rushed. The onions rings still had uncooked flour in them. The sandwich was pretty decent thankfully.

In good weather their outdoor patio looks like a great place to sit down and enjoy your All American burgers, fries and shakes. In colder seasons their indoor facilities are countrified and comfortable for those purists who choose to eat on premises to have their food right off the grill or deep fryer when they are at the peak of flavor. Apparently, their ice cream and soft serve are also noteworthy. I did takeout, and thought something was lost in the time it took to get home. The cheeseburger was still hot, juicy and delicious, but the fries had lost their crispness and were over salted. Similarly, my vanilla soft serve had partially melted and separated into a sweet cool slurry and a still composed core that had much less of the expected taste. Definitely eat right there to maintain maximum enjoyment. Service was friendly and welcoming with beautiful smiles all around. Four Farm to Table Stars, but be sure to eat right there for the full experience.

Hold the heck up!!!!!…read more WOW. Listen, I really don't give 5 star reviews very often, but Cork and Crust definitely earned it! I came here with a friend after a random Trader Joe's excursion and we were hungry, looking for food that was in the area at ~8:30pm. Boom, enter Cork and Crust (thanks, Yelp!). I will tell you that the location is a bit small, and seating may be a bit tight depending on how many you have in your party and how much food you're ordering. However, there were two of us and we sat at a 2-seater in the back of the restaurant, both ordering pizzas and drinks, and we were fine! We were able to sit wherever we wanted (it wasn't busy, just a few folks in at the time), and the staff was SO SO SO friendly and accommodating. Big time family vibes. Promise and Trish took care of us (and our shenanigans) for the evening, and they were so great! We were so conflicted (mostly my friend LOL) on what to order, so we had lots of questions and just general foolishness. The ladies were so helpful (especially Promise) in literally pulling up a chair and sitting down with us to discuss the menu and answer all of our questions. We ended up ordering the lamb sliders for our appetizer (came with 2), and they were so so good (I am not a lamb fan), although just smidge moist (you have to eat them fast so the meat doesn't soak through the toasted brioche bun). We also both ordered a drink (that I literally cannot remember the name of - Flying Dutchess??? IDK! Don't be mad with me! LOL). But it was somehow like a lemon ricotta cheesecake, but in a cocktail. I can't explain it to you, but you should try it. SO SMOOTH (also from a person who does not like alcohol). It's like a vanilla, earl grey, lemon vibe and it is such an interesting drink with a smooth transition through flavors. 10/10. I ordered the Bianca 5- 'The Anthony Bourdain' Pizza (sub the mortadella because I don't eat pork, with pineapples), and let me tell you somethingggg! That dang gone pizza was SO GOOD. My friend ordered the Bianca 10 (I didn't try this but she said it was delicious). My friend was so impressed by the food and just the experience overall that she asked the ladies if she could talk to the Chef, so he came over (very nice and humble human), and he explained a bit about how they design the menu and what kind of foods they use. So interesting and honestly just such a cool vibe. I will also offer that the restrooms are gender-neutral and clean! They also have baby changing stations in them, and they have feminine products as well (how considerate!) I will DEFINITELY be back here because this place was just so cool. I really enjoyed it, and this is also coming from a person who would NEVER choose pizza as a first option for food! I intend to check out some of the pastas on the next visit!

Whether it's with friends or just the two of us, we've never been disappointed. Let's see how this visit went. We were immediately seated once we walked inside. It wasn't completely packed for a Saturday afternoon but staff was really busy with customers. The vibe was one that made us comfortable for the most part. After a few minutes of looking over the menu, we were ready to order. My selection was the Tavern Monte Cristo which consisted of chargrilled chicken and ham as the protein with Gouda cheese and cider aioli fried in a tempura batter with tavern fries. The meal was served hot and ready and tasted great. And having the cranberry coulis as a dipping sauce really added some taste. My only gripe with the sandwich was the amount of protein. I'm not sure if I ate most of it when we dined in, but when I ate the rest for dinner, it was more breading than anything else. Still good but they could've included more. Nonetheless, I was full. Good stuff as always from Park Lane Tavern :)
