(That confused some folks in the reviews) You might be able to get it boiled, but why would you want to do that? I got a shrimp basket. Bubba's Shrimp Shack in Grafton is a very good location. We had their Bubba Basket with fried fish, fried shrimp (skipped the oysters for another fish) with coleslaw and fried and added bowl of Clam Chowder for take out. Everything was very good flavor. Had shrimp, fish and fries medium basket: one fillet and five shrimp. Excellent! Even the hush puppies were delicious. Not dry; tasted like the bread course it's supposed to be. The horseradish, tartar and seafood sauces were delish too. The ambiance is typical counter service so no candles You could get takeout and make your own ambiance. A coworker of my husband's recommended this eatery, and even though I frequent Washington Square Shopping Center I had never seen it. We went on Sunday at noon and found a more elderly crowd, well, in our 60's age range plus. I'm sure the demographic may be different on any other day than Super Bowl Sunday. Just outside the door was a sign for a $9.99 basket that immediately interested us. When we entered we found a large chalk board with an extensive menu of very reasonably priced items. The menu included kids' meals, sides, sandwiches, and many seafood offerings. Most are offered grilled or fried. My husband and I ordered the $9.99 fish and shrimp basket, fried, with mac n cheese side for me, a 50 cent upcharge, and the cole slaw for husband, also an upcharge. He had heard the slaw was good, and reported it to be sweet and just ok. The mac n cheese was made with pasta shells and creamy cheese which I found tasty. The accompanying hush puppies were ok, but my husband said they were good. Now the fish was a buttery, flaky, tasty catfish. We both loved it. The shrimp was a nice medium size and tasty as well. Everything was served hot. The food is brought to the table and you bus it yourself. The unsweet tea was very good and my husband got lemonade. There is a good selection of fountain drinks. The restaurant and rest room were clean. It didn't take long to get the food and the server brought various sauces. On the table is bottles of other condiments and napkins. Plastic dinnerware was adequate for the weight of the food. I really enjoyed the food and the reasonable price! The location and hours are also very good as they are open daily for lunch and dinner. Something is Fishy at Bubba's. I like Catfish. I try to find catfish on the menu when we go out to seafood restaurants. While ordering at this Bubba's, I noticed that next to the word Catfish on the menu was this very small writing. It said "Sutchi". So, I asked the young man at the counter what Sutchi was. I was told that it was a "more tender Catfish". I asked why it was written so small, but he couldn't answer that. I also noted that every place on the menu Catfish was mentioned, "sutchi" was noted in the same small writing. Well, I ordered it anyway and sat down and waited for my meal. Being the normal iPhone toting human I am, I started googling Sutchi and came up with all kinds of fun facts. Such as Sutchi (also known as Swai) is a freshwater fish native to rivers in Vietnam. How it may contain nasty chemicals, bacteria and antibiotics, AND that restaurants in the USA cannot label/serve Sutchi as Catfish. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has regulations that require restaurants to label their food accurately. This means that if a restaurant is serving Sutchi, they must label it as such. They cannot call it Catfish, or any other type of fish that it is not. There were also warnings about restaurants substituting it for Catfish (and red snapper, sea bass & mahi-mahi). because it cost about 1/4 the cost of real US caught/raised Channel Catfish. So, I don't know if Bubba thinks they're getting around some regulation by adding "sutchi" in small letters next to CATFISH, but I'm guessing that's against the FDA regulations, because clearly, they are trying to fool us into thinking it's Catfish. They got me. My order arrived and I took a few bites of the Sutchi. It was tender, but also tasteless. My wife got the shrimp. Well, we think it was shrimp! read more

I've been to both locations (Yorktown and Gloucester) multiple times and the food/service is always outstanding. Straight up delicious fried fish house! Clean, quick and satisfying. I tried the fried captains basket so that I can taste a little bit of everything. The platter came with flounder (looked like baby flounder), scallops, oysters, shrimp, and two sides. The good. Everything was cooked perfectly with the shrimp tender, nicely done flounder, scallops on point and some of the better fried oysters I've had in town. They were large plump and juicy! I was not expecting such a well prepared meal, the breading was light and allowed the flavor of the food to come through! The sides were basic choices; I felt adventurous and tried the coleslaw, fries and hush puppies, lol. The hush puppies are delightfully light and sweet and better of the three. Grabbed a to go order on Saturday evening. The baskets are the easy go-to there. We ordered a crab cake basket and a shrimp basket. We got sweet potato fries and Cole slaw for our sides. I was not a fan of the fries which were done waffle style as they seemed fry and burnt in a lot of them. The Cole slaw was fresh and delicious. I definitely would have gotten the shrimp basket over the crab cake one I got. The cake was too dry for my liking. First time here. There is a big chalkboard menu so that you can see the different options and combinations. I got the Flounder with shrimp. It came with two sides. I got fries and green beans. It also comes with 2 hushpuppies. It did not include a drink. You pick your cup up buy the drinks and are able to choose from soda, water, and fresh tea (sweet and unsweet). My total was $18 and some change which I think is pretty high a single meal. My fish was extremely salty, it tasted like they put too much seasoning salt. A friend of mine goes here frequently and she said it is not usually that salty. I would not the price was definitely too high to bring my family. Apparently you can get the shrimp steamed but everything else seems to be fried so it is definitely out of my wheelhouse of food choices. So if you want some fresh fried food give this place a try. After waiting another 30 minutes i approached the girl again and asked how much longer it would be and she checked with the cooks and they said they didn't have a ticket for me. I asked why she told they were working on it when I arrived when obviously that was not the case. she just stared at me and said nothing. someone finally got a manager who said they could remake my order if I wanted to wait 15-20 minutes. Hidden gem in yorktown. I actually prefer this place over Got Fish in Hampton. I got the fried shrimp basket and i really loved that the shrimp was lightly breaded and you had pretty large shrimp! Love love love this place!! Out of the ball park!! We ordered an oyster dinner and two shrimp tacos. This was a takeout order so I placed it by phone. The young lady was very professional and pleasant. She was very thorough. The food was ready when we arrived fifteen minutes as promised. The Restaurant is always very clean and the employees clean and friendly. The food was excellent. Despite the drive home the oyster were still crispy and delicious. The shrimp in the taco was crispy on the outside tender and tasty on the inside. The creamy sweet slaw on top with the kick of spices makes for a delightful blend of smack you in the face yummy. While the food this visit was still very good, the waitress was far less so. During our many meals at Bubba's we have encountered 2 waitresses there who seem to have been born with a chip on their shoulder. Who in their right mind put either one of them in a position where they're interfacing with the public? The waitress taking our order today initially got irritated at my wife when she couldn't decide between a basket and a sandwich dinner. After we took our seats, we found ourselves underneath a speaker playing really loud raucous music. Most of the clientele at Bubba's are older people so I can't imagine what the staff was thinking playing that type of music. I asked the waitress if she could change the channel or turn it down. She told me she have to ask the manager. Now this is a very small restaurant. Why would she have to ask permission from the manager? Several minutes later when nothing changed I went up and asked her again if she could turn the music down. She literally snapped back at me, "I haven't had a chance to ask the manager yet" and then said something along the lines of "fine I'll just turn it off". I can't recall a more rude encounter with a waitress. For some reason (though I can guess) our food took almost 30 minutes to come out, very different from the normal service. A different waitress delivered our food to us and she was very chilly even though we had not had any interaction with her. I assume the first waitress had shared how much trouble we were being (to her). Though the food was good today as usual, the french fries were not hot. Normally everything comes out so hot you can hardly eat it. This time it was clear our food at set for quite a while before being delivered. After reading some reviews, I decided to share the Shrimp & Flounder Basket & 2 shrimp tacos with my husband. It was $25 total with a drinks, so I cannot complain about price. The shrimp was lightly breaded perfection! There is a steamed option but the pics looked so good I had to go for the fried! The tacos had a little kick & next time I will be sure to get them on their Taco Tuesday! The flounder was not bad, but a little tough for my liking. I really loved the orange sauce served on the side. I was dipping everything in it! Hush puppies were SPOT ON. They had corn pieces visible just like I prefer. Delicious food in a casual atmosphere. Steamed shrimp is perfect, as are the generous sides - I recommend the baked beans and green beans which are flavored with bacon. My wife recently tried the crab cake and pronounced it "best on the Peninsula." Even the French fries and hush puppies are top-notch. Fast friendly service; we visited on a Wednesday at 6PM and there was only one table left open. Food came out within five minutes after ordering at the counter (servers only bring food; soft drinks are self-serve). Styrofoam cups with lids. Atmosphere is nothing special: wood-laminate tables and light metal chairs; strip-mall fluorescent lights with nautical-themed decorations on the wall. But who wants a fancy restaurant with mediocre food? We are becoming regulars, but come early or late - it's close to full at 6-7 pm. read more

Absolutely Horrible. I spent $70 on food for just myself and couldn't believe what I was given. My 3 1/2 Shrimp were so greasy they were inedible! My scallops were burnt yet greasy at the same time. The top layer of My Mac and cheese was burnt from the lamp I guess the side dishes sit up under. My pies were smushed and crushed to the sides of the container. Just very disappointed. Even though the store manager offered to remake it. I had already waited over an hour for my food And after all that I didn't even want it anymore. Not pleased at all.
