Our visit to Twisted Crab featured the T1 special combo, which offered solid value for 1/2 lb snow crab, 1/2 lb shrimp, 1/2 lb sausage, plus corn and potatoes. The twisted sauce seasoning (all sauces combined) was flavorful; however, the potatoes were slightly overcooked. The primary reason for our four-star rating was the slow and inattentive service, despite three servers being on duty. Upon arrival, we waited at the entrance for a bit until a delivery driver walked past us and was assisted first. We also observed another table waiting to place their order request to move to the bar because no one had serviced them. Another amazing experience here. I just love love love the seafood boils and really enjoy the atmosphere. We pretty much come here for any special occasion now because it's my favorite restaurant. I highly recommend the T5 special if you like crawfish!!! My only complaint is that sometimes the crabs are undercooked and it's super difficult to peel them but it really just depends on the day. Other times they've been perfect. Service is also very hit or miss -- sometimes they're fast and sometimes they're slow. I don't mind. You have to try this place if you like seafood boils. read more

I love Twisted Crab, it's always my go-to spot for a good Seafood Boil. I do like this location in particular. The service I've received has always been quick for the most part, but the waiting staff isn't always attentive. They always play good music and it's not too loud either. There is good parking across from the restaurant, with parking options within the shopping center as well. I recommend the T1 Special with the Twisted Sauce! The twisted sauce is all of the other sauces combined into one and it is SOO good! You get corn, potatoes, andouille sausage, shrimp, and a crab leg cluster in this special which is A LOT of food! You also have the option of adding more things to your boil bag too. I always leave there with leftovers, it is sooo filling but so worth it. My husband bought seafood boil bags home for dinner. He ate at the bar and said there was great customer service and great recommendations made by his server/bartender, Tee. He had a shrimp basket with fries. The seafood boil was a huge hit for dinner. We live a little ways from Hampton so he had to reheat it l, but it was still amazing. You are better off going to the jefferson location. They read your order back and still get it wrong. Do not come here. First off music is so loud you can barely hear. Second its such a tight space. And last of all something is always missing from my order. Oh and when i ask for an 8oz garlic butter and i reiterate GARLIC BUTTER PLAIN NO SEASONING and i get what looks like scooped up drippings. The food was phenomenal. I had one of the boils (lobster,crab & shrimp) with the twisted sauce. Wifey had it with Cajun sauce. Both were great. Only disappointment was that they did not have any dark beer. To be the home of Alewerks and have no porters on hand, come on. The service definately needs improvement though that's is why I withheld a star. When asked if the had any dark beer the server only offered Vienna lager. I actually saw a yienglieng at the bar as well as red stripe. Although I prefer a porter type like Guinness I settled for the yienglieng. I was then even more disappointed that I couldn't get her attention to get another. Nor did we get the crab cracker until very late into the meal. This has got to be the worst option for a seafood restaurant. Please go somewhere else. We ordered the margarita tower and waited just for the manager to come tell us they can't find the tower cups. How does a restaurant lose track of ALL tower cups? I can see losing track of 1 or 2 but ALL??? And why wait 20 min in to us waiting to say something as stupid as that? We ended up ordering another drink and those drinks tasted like cough medicine. On top of that the food took forever to come out and when it did it was cold like they just had it sitting in the back. The music was blaring, we asked them to turn the music down a little, they asked us to change seats. we stated it didn't matter where we sat it was loud everywhere. They did nothing about it. I have never felt so embarrassed and offended at a restaurant in my life. I frequently visit this bar when I'm in town and typically have a great experience, often meeting new people and enjoying the atmosphere. Unfortunately, my visit on Sunday, April 26, 2026, was completely different. While sitting at the bar, I struck up a friendly conversation with another patron next to me. We were having a great time, she was even on FaceTime with a friend and invited me to say hello, which I did. The interaction was respectful, social, and enjoyable. We even decided to exchange social media handles to keep in touch. However, when I asked for another drink the Bar Manager Prince intervened and told me I needed to drink water "for my safety" because I was allegedly "hanging all over" the person next to me. Which implied I was drunk. This was both inaccurate and inappropriate. When I calmly addressed the situation and the woman I was speaking with even supported me and clarified that nothing inappropriate was happening, Prince did not apologize. Instead, I was told that I was being "aggressive", which was simply untrue. To make matters worse, the same manager was observed throughout the evening sitting, eating, drinking, and socializing with other staff and customers rather than actively managing the bar. Had he been attentive and professional, he would have had a better understanding of the situation before making such an embarrassing and unfounded judgment. This experience demonstrated a clear lack of professionalism and poor management. It's disappointing to see this level of conduct, especially at a place I've previously enjoyed. Best crabs in town! Their concept is the same as other crab places, but the twisted crab has high quality seafood and I've never liked the sausage in the bag until I came here. Covid restrictions were in place here just like everywhere else. There's a scan code to look at the menu on your phone, and the waitress sticks around long enough so you don't get confused. Me and my friends were excited and talking a lot since it's been awhile since we've seen each other. That was until we got our food. It was real quiet. We all agreed in how delicious it was. All you could hear were crab shells cracking. I got the T1 with crab, potatoes, corn, sausage, and the twisted sauce with medium spice. You can get it as spicy or as mild as you'd like. Although I came in on Auntie duty, I can see this being a fun spot to watch games or hang out with friends. The atmosphere is fun, music is good. We ordered one crab leg bag, rice and sweet potato fries. The bags are petite in comparison to other places I've been but my niece enjoyed it just the same. This is my first review for this spot, but not my first time here. Once they opened up in Hampton, my girlfriend and I checked it out and fell in love with them. Before, we would head over to the Shaking Crab in Virginia Beach (a very good restaurant I might add) to partake in some genuine crawfish since we're both from Louisiana. For this particular trip, it was for her birthday. So why not splurge a bit for the special occasion??? For starters, we ordered a basket of soft shell crab with onion rings and tartar and cocktail sauces. Being a soft shell fan (much less work than traditional crab), it was in my realm. Right out within 10 minutes hot and with some crunch. Seasoned well to where you really don't need any sauce for dipping. And the onion rings were fried and crispy, but not greasy at all. For our main courses, we both ordered a pound of boiled crawfish in mild Cajun spices with some corn. Boy oh boy do you talk about heaven on a plate. The crawfish itself was......lets just say amazing. Very big pieces full of Cajun spices waiting to be devoured. And the corn cooked just right soaked in the seasoning. It just felt like home. And quite a mess too (you'll see in the boil bag picture). Once again, not a bad meal here. Great food with great service. Note to add: definitely have a bib on when you eat seafood boils. They will be messy and you don't want them getting on your clothes. Gloves will be available to wear (we personally don't wear them). Our server was very friendly. We ordered a pound of snow crabs, pound of mussels, and half a pound of shrimp in the Cajun sauce and garlic seasoning. We also ordered a side of onion rings. The bag of seafood came with potatoes and a few ears of small corn. Some of the mussels were the biggest I've ever seen. The flavors in that bag... perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The only thing that needed improvement was the service. Once our server brought our boil bag and other supplies, she left and didn't come back to check on us. As we were getting organized and situated, we realized we needed another plate, utensils to crack the crab legs and our onion rings were missing. We waited a few mins to try to catch her walking around but I ended up requesting what we needed from the host. The host did relay our requests to our server because she came to our table shortly after. She apologized, got us all we needed and put in the order for our onion rings, which she'd forgotten to place. It all ended well so doesn't deter me from giving this place a high rating. read more

It is nestled in the Town Center area of Hampton. There are plenty of shoppes nearby if you want to do some shopping afterwards. We didn't order the seafood boil. We order the shrimp basket w/ onion rings and crab cake basket w/ fries. Both were delicious. I would definitely order them again. The shrimp were huge and the coating was more of a batter. The crab cakes had minimal filler. I loved them!!! The service was just ok. Nothing to brag about. I would definitely go back to try something new. They have happy hour some days & alcohol, if that's what you are into. :) They also give complimentary popcorn if that's up your alley. I did t get it, but hey, I ate a little of it while we waited.
