Our first time to Yorktown and had no idea what to expect. The riverwalk area was short but nice. What made it great was this restaurant. The restaurant was busy. We only waited about 15 minutes. But the view of the water made the wait enjoyable. The atmosphere was appropriate for a casual place. Lots of dark wood, a bar, booths and, I assume, faux copper ceiling tiles. We were seated in a high table near the window with a view of York River. Our server was great! She helped me make a choice of beer. The double IPA was citrusy which I like. I was torn between the fish tacos, a loaded baked potato with "famous" chili, or grilled crab sandwich. She said beyond a doubt get the tacos. She was so right! I love fish tacos. The Booming Tacos, an off-the-menu item, was over the top. I mean there was so much rockfish it was over the top of the grilled flour tortilla. The moist blackened fish pieces laid atop spring mix and drizzled with a creamy spicy boom boom sauce. My husband had the Rachel, a turkey sandwich on rye with Russian dressing and coleslaw, it came with french fries that seemed to have a bit of a coating that made them very crunchy. Nice people. Good service Their chili is directly out of the can Hormal canned chili. Tasted like absolute nothing. Had to add salt and pepper to taste anything and then just didn't even eat 1/2. Paid an extra $1 for cheese and onions on top. I'm talking bye 7 little cheese pieces and the same with tiny onions. Their clam chowder was salty. We stopped in today for lunch. I immediately fell in love with the whole vibe! The place was hopping. And despite the busyness of lunch rush we were greeted right away. We opted to sit at the bar, as it was just my mom and I, the bartender was friendly and even helped with my indecisiveness. Cute little place with water views. The service was fast and friendly. The table we were seated at wasn't clean but they wiped it down. We ordered some specialty drinks (Rip Current & Sea 2the Sun) and they were good. Then we got the Guinness beef stew with fries, and a grilled cheese sandwich and a bowl of chili with cheese and onions. We finished it off with a slice of German chocolate cake (not pictured). While visiting the historic town of Yorktown Virginia my wife and I decided to try Yorktown Pub after the Trolly driver recommended it to us. We got there around lunch time and had to wait approximately 10 minutes to get seated which wasn't bad. My wife started with the Beer Battered Onion Rings which were good. She ordered the Fried Rockfish Sandwich and I ordered the Seafood combo. Everything was good. Both of us had mix feelings on the fried Rockfish. I was a little tuff and had a different taste. This place was great! The staff were absolutely wonderful. They were very understanding of my dairy allergy and helped me thoroughly order from the menu to ensure I did not get anything with dairy. We came to the Yorktown Pub while visiting the Yorktown Battlefield and Yorktown Riverwalk and Beach. The place is cool on the inside, small, but comfortable. My wife and I stopped in before touring the Yorktown Battlefield Tour Friday afternoon. They were pretty full, we had to wait 15 or 20 minutes before we were seated. We were traveling with our grandchildren and needed lunch. As this establishment was along the water it was an attraction for us. It had that ole' pub look and it did not seem over-crowded. So, we went for it. We were seated by the hostess who was quite pleasant and soon met our server Hailey H. She quickly took a drink order, two water and two sodas, and gave us a fair amount of time to peruse the menu. My grandson ordered the spiced grilled shrimp dinner, our granddaughter went for a plain cheeseburger, I had the house salad and an appetizer sized order of mussels and my wife had a cup of clam chowder and a Greek salad. The food came out hot/cold as it should and it was very good. It clearly did not sit under a heat lap waiting for our server to pick it up. The ambiance was ok but maybe due for a deep clean. It was a well-oiled machine and the staff made our experience there a good one. We left an appropriate tip for Hailey and left the establishment fueled up for the afternoon. Whenever I'm in town, my first thought goes to the delicious crab cake at Yorktown pub. I seriously cannot wait to get there to have it. Being lactose intolerant I can't have crab cakes where ever they serve it. But luckily here I can and it's big and delicious! Great location and place to cool off from the heat while visiting the beach. I enjoyed the daily board that displayed both drinks and food specials. Our waiter was both attentive and kind. For food we ordered the Thai calamari special with an order of fries; the fries were beer battered and had cooled off by the time they reached the table. We also ordered the pub burger medium which was great quality hand made however lacked seasoning and the add ons presented on the menu. The beer selection was decent. This has been our go to spot for years for good seafood. No longer. The food quality has been steadily declining and recently hit rock bottom. On a recent visit I ordered a soft shell crab special, one of my favorites. The plate that was served contained something resembling a crab, but had been heavily battered and deep fried to the point of being inedible. Today we ordered the fish and chips special and were served fish bites, clumps of fish again heavily battered and deep fried to extinction. Our waitress explained that,that's how we prepare this dish. We told her flat out that the last time we ordered the same dish, we received a beautifully fried filet of cod, not a plate of fish turds! Sadly, that will be our last visit to this establishment and I heartily recommend all to give pass it up as well. read more

Sweden you first walk in you think you're walking into a bar. Doing a great business, the place was jammed but just not at the bar. Even families jammed the place. We ordered steam shrimp, sandwiches, salad and fried shrimp dinner. When the brought in the steamed shrimp I couldn't believe my eyes. They were huge. I didn't get a chance to try them as I had fried on its way. When my platter arrived I also had giant shrimp and green beans & their homemade potato salad. Everything was excellent. Initially we were supposed to go for just a drink, but we ended up driving to Yorktown to view the man made beach front. Parking is only available to customers at the pub, and since this is a tourist destination an empty lot is hard to come by. We shared with the hostess of eating outside, which was tented, and mosquito guarded by their nets. However, the plastic did obstruct the view of the water. Our waitress presented us with the specials and menu. She was nice, but I think the pub was short staffed, since it took about 20 minutes after our drinks were taken. We decided on a bowl of New England Clam Chowder, and the steamed Sampler. The sampler came with 6 oysters, 6 clams, and 1/2 of shrimp. They were delicious and fresh. I can't stop raving on the clam chowder with chunks of potato, and oysters. It was savory and wonderful. The shrimp was not deveined, but still good to dip in the melted butter. I'd recommend the Oysters topped with some horseradish, and hot sauce placed on crackers. I also dipped the steam clams in the butter as well ;) Overall, great food, but service can be spotty. So glad we took her suggestion. They have both indoor and outdoor dining space we opted to sit outside so we could see the bay and watch the sunset. Beer. And more beer. But add in the food and then you have a pub. This pub was great they had regular tables, banquet type seating with padded seats, and then the bar tables where you sit up higher. Thankfully my friend and I were just two and we were able to get seated right away even there were a whole host of people waiting outside to be seated for luncheon. I had the Jamaica Jamaica chicken and boy was it yummy. They seasoned it really well and it had pineapple on it as well it's kind of like a burger type sandwich. My companion had shrimp and said it was just scrumptious and so are the french fries. They were hot and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. They had a whole array of beers. Service was really fine, the waitress was quite attentive even though it was kind of loud and crazy at lunchtime on a Saturday afternoon with everyone over at the beach. This pub is perfectly situated and if you do happen to get a window seat as we were fortunate to have, you're pretty much looking out right onto the Chesapeake bay and waterways. You could watch families gallivanting on the beach, and you're also right by the pier and you can watch the ships. We watched the ferry going across from one side over to Gloucester.
