The lomo saltado was not the best I've had and the seafood of the ceviche mixto was bland/tasteless. Very disappointing although edible. The service, however, was terrible. We sat there for 20 minutes and had to get up twice: once to get their attention, the next to get a second waiter because the first one forgot; they were just standing by the register talking among themselves. Our order was wrong, they brought the appetizer before the meal. I had to ask for a glass of water three times. Too bad, we gave them a second chance because we had been when the place opened any it was half as bad. Now, they have gotten worse. Not worth their prices parking hustle. read more

Let's start off with the fact that I am Peruvian and I've had amazing Peruvian food my whole life. This place does not disappoint. The cheviche chios style is DELICIOUS! The pollo la brasa is AMAZING. The seco del cordero is juicy and falls off the bone. Everything I've tried is delicious. At first the had an issue with being understaffed but the last couple of times I've been here the problem has been resolved. Delicious! Chios was recommended to us as we're new in town. We tried the octopus and beef hearts and was completely blown away. These guys take pride in their cooking and really know what they're doing. The hearts were cooked medium and flavored very nicely. They weren't too chewy and neither was the octopus. The octopus was so tender and the sauce they used for this was just so perfect. We took some to go and the night day it was even better, ha! We tried 5 different homemade sauces during this meal and they were all amazing. Prices are totally reasonable for the quality of food you get here. Service staff were friendly, parking wasn't terrible and for a weekend evening it wasn't too busy. One of the dishes they couldn't fulfill because they didn't have it so I told the waitress to please cancel it as we ordered more than enough food for a party of 3, she then stated that she could not cancel the order and they would give me something similar. In some cases I understand not wanting to cancel an order, however, you didn't have what I requested so it would have been appropriate to cancel it. I'm not one to make a fuss so I said fine. Don't bother telling them how you want your meat cooked because it only comes overcooked. Tender, juicy meat...creamy pasta sauce and crispy chicken...this place is bomb!!! The spot is small but cute, the staff is very friendly and didn't mind that we came only 30 min before closing. Food is not that great . I had the fish Saltado but the fish was deep fried which in not visible on the menu therefore the Saltado was pretty dry . The 2 friends I was with had the mariscos and the lomo Salgado they enjoyed their food but we all agreed we had better before.. Service was very, very attentive on the other hand to a point where I wondered if the waitress was the owner? Also restaurant was empty at 8.30 pm on a weekday , Lucy's on victory is always full . A few people mingled in but I guess that's an indication that food is not that good. Restaurant is nice and clean and because of the service I would come back if the owner would just be more attentive and make sure food is better. OH the green sauce that is my ultimate favorite was very bad, didnt taste like the green sauce anywhere else. The peruvian beans on the other hand were 4.5 stars. Twice I tried to eat here: First time: no parking, had to park 2 blocks away, when i got in: no place to sit (waiting time 15 to 20 minutes). So i left. Second time 3 weeks later: same no parking, had to park one block away and jay walk (risking a $250 ticket). The parking lot is interesting. .but sometimes it doesn't matter. Especially when the food is awesome. The passion fruit drink was refreshing. ..i recommend the get the pitcher. Don't come here if you are in a wheelchair like me... not at all friendly to the handicapped. When I went it was close to their grand opening. As I approached the door, I could see 3 waiters standing by a booth and a man seated (manager or owner) with the one customer. As I wrestled with the door, all 3 waiters looked at me and then went back to offering suggestions to the customer. It seems he wanted some big event catered and it took the manager/owner and 3 waiters to help. The tables and chairs were right up to the door so I could not come in any further. After about 5 minutes one waiter comes over and asks me what I want. I tell him I want to eat and he looks surprised (I guess he figured I was there to ask for a hand out). He moves a bunch of chairs and seats me next to the customer who wants catering. I flag one of the waiters and ask for a menu. What I get could hardly be called a menu, it had pictures but the descriptions were not in English (I know a little Spanish so I can order food when in Mexico, but did not recognize many of the words on the menu). For 15 min I am trying to get their attention (they are hovering at the booth next to my table). A waiter comes over and asks if I am ready to order. I ask for a description of the food since the menu is not in English. I get the old eye roll and the guy starts rushing through his descriptions. I ask for clarification and he says he does not know but he was trying to advise a catering customer? He goes back to the animated conversation (that is in Spanish and another language). I decided to leave and no one tries to help me with the door or even ask why I am leaving. Hell of a way to treat customers during your grand opening. It was not as if the place was packed. I was the only one there except for the big shot who was a potential catering customer (it did not take all of the employees and management to help him). The OP was right about them treating you different if you are Peruvian. Will not come back here. I don't understand the good reviews. First, the INCA Kola I ordered was really dirty at the top. Second, the bread and butter served is cold. Third, my coworker's chicken was under-cooked; still pink in places. Fourth, BAD SERVICE. The waiter took forever to give us anything we requested and frequently forgot. Have you ever been super hungry and had the urge to stuff your face with Peruvian food? That feeling of need almost like a crack addict? Well that was what led me too Chio's! I walked in here like a paisa walks into a strip club, ready for action and to spend some guap! I started my visit with my favorite Peruvian appetizer Yucca a la huancaina. The dish presentation was on point like Allen Iverson, and yucca was crispy like my Air Force ones in 7th grade. However, it lacked the proper amount of sauce for the amount of yucca. I like my yucca a la huancaina like I love women in baby oil, DRENCHED! Ya feel me! Next came my main dish Lomo Saltado, and let me tell you it looked amazing. Meat was Niagara Falls mouth watering and tender like Tyra Banks 34 DDs. Fries were crispy, and the rice was average. Overall the plate was good, but didn't stand out from other Peruvian restaurants. The food presentation was better then most places. Service was good as well, but slowly declined as more customers came in. Can't blame them though! In conclusion, Chio's is good if I'm in the area. I was recommended here by my friend Alex from Chase Bank. He told me it was delicious and that I had to try it out. I took his advice and am definitely happy I did. He gave me a coupon for a $5 meal with two sides and a drink. It had a quarter chicken and two sides. I chose rice and beans. For $5, you can't beat that. The chicken was really tender and the skin was delicious! Even the rice and beans were a little different, but in a good way. What I really liked was the owner was the guy in the back making the food! How cool is that? I get to visit a lot of restaurants because of what I do, and it's rare that the owner will be the person actually making and preparing food. Five stars all the way. I was hoping for a better dinner. Presentation is good but their food is extremely salty. Both my husband and I were unable to eat our food the saltiness was overwhelming. No use in getting a to go box if I was going to throw it in the trash. I wish my experience would have been different it's a clean and nice little place but I doubt we will be back. I was very disappointed. I saw this place on Yelp and thought it would be great, I was wrong! I ordered through Yelp and went to pick my food up after about 30 minutes (I was told it would be ready between 10 and 35 minutes). I walked to the register and was told the food was not ready yet and to have a seat. After sitting there for about 15 minutes the guy working there said something to me in Spanish, which I don't speak, laughed and handed me a paper bag. The food smelled good and I went home. When I got home and opened the bag I noticed that what I ordered (Lomo Saltado) was separated. The meat, veggies and juice were in one container and the fries were in another. I mixed them together and took a bite and was very disappointed. The food was very salty and there really wasn't very much meat. My daughter had the grilled chicken breast meal with rice and french fries. she liked the rice and that was about it, she didn't even like the french fries, which is a shocker for her. I tried the chicken and it was very thin and DRY. The wife had Tallarin Verde con Milanesa and she said it was okay but she has had better. She didn't even finish it tho. Overall none of us are interested in going back to this place ever again. The food wasn't very good and it was pricy. It was brought to us on a sizzling skillet, topped with this delicious orange sauce (wish I knew what it was). Our server was very friendly and our food arrived in a timely manner. Went with one of my Peruvian friends he showed me and catered me to a lot of food also enjoyed the Inca Cola they have, different from Coca Cola with a yellow liquid would recommend as a different type of drink other than just water and Coca Cola. Its a small place sandwiched between some automotive businesses. Good luck trying to find parking in their lot (tiny) or on the street (where all the businesses park their cars at night). I got lucky the night I visited. I like that the place is nice and open, looks really clean and there is a glass where you can see into the kitchen without interrupting the cooks but I always like being able to watch them cook. My favorite Peruvian dish is the Lomo Saltado with egg so that's what I ordered here. I really liked it, everything was fresh and perfectly seasoned. It wasn't overcooked so the meat was tender and juicy. The only thing I would have liked is a little more sauce on it. I can't get enough of the green sauce that comes with the bread at all the Peruvian places but missed that corn that I've had at other spots.
