The size of the banana leaf, it's a joke. Not traditional and the size of a tennis ball.
Diana G.

This place is probably one of the closest locations that feels traditional. However, since it's gaining tremendous popularity, I think it's gone down in many ways. One of the most critical aspects of your business is customer service. Many of the ladies working there lose their composure during the holidays. I understand that it gets busy, but they cannot be rude. I was there on Christmas Eve, and an elderly lady asked questions. One of the workers ignored her twice. Then, the lady asked a question again, and the worker yelled at her. So my mother stepped up and helped her by answering her question. Now, this older lady is a customer who needs assistance. She probably felt frustrated. She probably wasn't feeling well. Whatever the cost was, the employer should not have yelled at her and ignored her. I would've been distraught if my mother got yelled at. These ladies need to work on their customer service. It is not the first time. Also, they were assisting my mother, and they left her hanging for an hour and a half. That is awful customer service. Now, their tamales. They had flavor, but three of my family members got sick the next day. In addition, the banana leaf is ridiculous. They're using the tiniest bit of banana leaf. this is constructive criticism.

Revolcado con frijoles y casamiento and tamal

I enjoy comfort food at any time and this revolcado hits that sudden craving for it. This location is always busy and quick paced, the seating area is pretty big. I personally like the Santa Monica Blvd location or he original, but we enjoyed this with family.

The Guatemalan pan dulce

Amazing food, great staff and plenty of them to keep the long lines moving along and a large seating area. Guatemalteca Bakery and Restaurant uses the same recipes that make you feel like Abuelita made it at home from scratch. One of their traditional dishes is the Revolcado, a tomato rich stew made with spices cooking different parts of a pig's head. Served with black beans and white rice with hand made thick corn tortillas. To die for. Another one of Guatemala's comfort foods is the rellenito, mashed up plantain ball filled with black beans.

Not trying to be rude but they have lower standards on bread instead Guatemalan chuchitos they are selling thick Mexican tamales for real is unacceptable is a chuchito in disguise .

The most authentic Guatemalan food you can buy in Los Angeles. Taste: DELICIOUS Price: Affordable Wait times: usually LONG! Especially during the holidays. Occasionally no wait Ambiance: good for lunch or dinner with family Panaderia/ Bakery: bread is always fresh

Todo es moderadamente aceptable menos el ponche de frutas. $3.99 por un ponche. Mejor me compro la fruta en lata con su nectar en el dollar tree y lo pongo a hervir!

This hidden gem is my new spot for Guatemalan food and snacks! Everything is super cheap and the service is fast and easy. I ordered a LOT: tostadas, atole, tamales, casamiento, and chips for such a low price. I highly recommend checking out this spot for tasty food at a low cost!

The manager

Food was great but my experience was ruined by the customer service skills of the manager. Not polite at all. Was murmuring things as she walked away and when asked why she was acting this way her attitude became a bit aggressive. After this encounter the ambiance was a bit awkward.

I stopped by Sunday around 1 to pick up some pastries on my way to a friend's house. It's located in a plaza with a small parking lot. First thing you notice when you step in is that they have a lot of cakes on display. There's no seating either, it's strictly a grab and go place. Both times I came, someone was picking up a cake ahead of me, so that's definitely what to get here. I asked the cashier, and she said that you can either call or came in person to place a cake order. You can also come by and pick up one of their ready made cakes. Will keep this place in mind for the future. I picked up a number of pastries and tried some of them at my friend's place. Here's what I tried: Slice of vanilla roll cake ($2) - very moist but not much cream Almond croissant ($3.50) - loved the almond filling Sponge cake ($2.75) - delicious! Almond cookie ($0.35 each) - tastes exactly like the almond cookies I ate growing up Cream puff ($2) - this was the only thing I didn't like. The puff layers on both the top and bottom were dry Next time I need a cake, I know where to get it!

This cafe is on the right side of the Jons Marketplace right when you walk in. I couldn't decide between the butter croissant or cheese puffs so I asked the lady working which one she would recommend. She said both were good but the cheese puffs are more savory. So I went with the cheese puffs, the bread was okay but I did not like the cheese at all. I think the butter croissant would've been better so next time when I'm back to the dentist.

I stop by a couple times a year to pick up some pastries to bring to work for all of us to share with our morning coffee. I also buy all our birthday cakes for the year from them. I do have to say that their fruit tart is unmatched! That alone will have me going back for as long as they're there. The service has always been very good, the stuff is kind and friendly, and always open to answering questions about recommendations or pointing out what their favorites are. Which is always a great way to try something new. The location itself is inside of a grocery store, so there isn't much space to sit and relax like you would at a normal café, but I don't think that that takes away from enjoying their delicious pastries.

I have been here twice in the past, but not in a long time. Needed to buy a box of yummy cupcakes for my friend's birthday and wanted few for me and my son. Rubina, the owner being so sweet, kind, nice, and helpful helped me to choose variety of cupcakes for my friend, and also helped me to decide what my cravings were.? I went with like 6 cupcakes of different kind, and they looked AMAZING!! Got Chocolate cupcake, berry cupcake with light frosting on top, & Red Velvet Cupcake for me and my son to share. Their cupcakes are seriously addicting, in the most dangerous way!:-) They are light, fresh, yummy, and full of flavor w/out being too sweet. Simply irresistible. They have a clean shop, cute, quaint, and welcoming. They only make cupcakes. No other types of goodies. Just letting you guys know. They do deliveries and small catering for your occasions. Moderate prices. Plenty of parking shared with numerous businesses and one last thing; go see the owner and she will help you to pick out your favorites!

The chocolate varieties taste similar to what my wife makes - you can taste the intensity of the natural chocolate flavor thanks to espresso. It's the secret to a deep, beautiful chocolate batter. The owners are lovely as well. The lady took the time to go over the flavors and explain the lack of heavy sugars. Such a cute spot tucked away in a strip mall behind Starbucks. I'll be back for a 6 pack of blueberry cupcakes soon!

It felt balanced and had something exciting in every bite. The Punisher was still solid and had that classic warm, soft cinnamon roll flavor with plenty of icing, but compared to the Missy it felt like it was missing a little something extra. Maybe a stronger cinnamon flavor, more filling, or an additional topping to give it the same "wow" factor. Still enjoyable, just not as memorable next to the Missy. The shop has old-school hip-hop playing in the background. There is a strong, fresh-baked cinnamon roll aroma from the moment you walk in! The service at this shop was excellent! The staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely enthusiastic. This shop felt more family-run and personal rather than corporate. The only downside was the parking.
