It's been a while since I had Salvadorian food. I met a friend that lives in the area for brunch. Nothings crazy. Just a simple Salvadorian breakfast. As I arrived I was greeted by the gentleman at the valet. I know from the outside the parking situation looks complicated. Worry no more. They have a nice outside area to sit. In the inside the area is pretty large plenty of tables. They have some Salvadorian goods for purchase too. The coffee kept coming. Very disappointed with this place once again I gave them the benefit of doubt because last time I had a bad experience. My husband and I ordered a parillada for two we gave the lady that answered the phone specific instructions on how we wanted our food. We wanted everything well done. They said it would be around 45 minutes. We get to the restaurant and they tell us our food isn't ready so we waited another 10 minutes which was OK. We get our food and we drive home When we got home, we realized everything was cold and undercooked That was very disappointed because we paid $50 for this plate. The pico de gallo Was so salty we couldn't eat it. The refried beans were nasty and the rice was cold. This is unfortunate my husband and I will not be eating here anymore. read more

Metapan has been on my list of places I haven't tried yet for a while. My wife and I passed by several times waiting for the chance to stop by. Tonight we had that chance. I would love to say that the visit was without issues. Our meal began with slices of oranges and cucumber seasoned with tajin. Which is one of my favorite snacks so I was looking forward to what was to come. I ordered a size of chicharron because it is one of my favorite foods in existence, I loved it. It was hot and tender as well as seasoned perfectly. I also ordered tamal de elote with beans and crema. I was surprised to see that they came with pinto beans instead of black beans but they were good as was the crema. Half way through the tamales they were ice cold. So I moved on from them to the Chicharron pupusas I ordered and I enjoyed those. Our server was friendly and welcoming for a large percentage of the meal, however when my wife found out the drink she ordered was out , she asked for a glass of water which never came. So my feelings here are mixed and I want to give a great review. I can only say it was good but sadly not good enough for us to return. read more

We ordered both frijol con queso and queso con loroco. We called in our order and it was ready very quickly. We tried the queso con loroco first and they were a little bland, like they were missing salt. Then we tried the frijol con queso. Those were very good! The beans inside were delicious and they had plenty of cheese in them. The size is also ver satisfactory. I do wish that they had a little less masa though. They were very thick with masa compared to the amount of filling they had. The salsa and curtido was very good. One thing to take notice of is the parking. They have a very limited parking in the back. Not too many spaces and the entrance to that parking is very very tight. It seems like half of the drive way has been repurposed into outdoor seating space. You have to yield the right of way if someone is coming in or going out. Overall, I would go back to have more of the frijol con queso pupusa. If only they would balance out the filling to masa ratio. That would make it a 5 star for me. read more

Bad service, the place is full and not enough waitresses, they sit you down and had to wait almost 30 mins for them to come and take our order, the bathroom is dirty and in really bad condition, the paper towel roll don't work, it used to be a good place to eat but now not even close to what it because the food was good, I understand prices of everything has gone up, but if you gonna raise the prices at least the food should be as good as the prices, I don't think I'm coming back or recommend it to my friends. Worst customer service EVER and I mean it 45 mins to take our order, no menus given to us we had wave down a waiter. The pan con pollo was not it, the sauce was like caldo de pollo not your typical pan con pollo guisado sauce. They didnt bring the chorizo with the breakfast plate. I had to go inside and request it. The Platanos were completely hard and dry the eggs had no salt. They brought us some oranges an hour and 15 minutes after we got here, they didn't even bring us any forks. I have been a big proponent of this restaurant. The food is exceptional and they have my favorite pupusas and yucca frita, and even their horchata is good. Service has always been good too. All that was tainted by one experience which demonstrated who they are. I placed an order tonight, about 30 minutes later I went to pick it up, and they hadn't even started my order. They took another 25 minutes to get the order out. When I got home, I realized the garbage that they had given me. I was clearly annoyed to have been made to wait but never expected this to happen like this. This was by far the worst plate of food that I have even received from them! The yucca was so trash, I got some normal pieces, I got some undercooked pieces, I got some mush at the bottom, got some burned parts. And some dry, overcooked chicharrón. Dude who gave me the order couldn't even look at me, they knew what they had done. I ended up throwing out about half of the each order. Doordash took a look at the pics of what they gave me and refunded me a part of the total. I appreciate it but it doesn't excuse the behavior and crap food they give me. It's hard to find a place with quality pupusas, and given the low reviews of this place, I wasn't expecting much. However, they really blew me away with their food today! I came here to try one thing, and that was their pupusas. I ordered three pupusas, loroco, chicharon con queso, and revuelta. They were decent sized pupusas at $3.50 each. I ate the chicharon con queso first and immediately fell in love. It was everything I was craving in a pupusa! Don't even get me started on how amazing the queso con loroco was. We decided to try something else on their menu since I see a lot of mixed reviews and went with the camarones a la Diabla. These bad boys were definitely the spiciest camarones I've had in awhile but very flavorful. They came with handmade tortillas which was a refreshing touch as I haven't been to a place that still makes them by hand. The only thing I didn't like was the horchata. Their style is a bit different than I'm used to but nothing major. Service was okay. Free parking in the back but it's a little small and difficult to get into from Sherman Way if you're coming during rush hour. Will definitely be back for the pupusas! read more

Maybe I should have known that I would not be getting a the same type of Campechana in a Salvadoran restaurant as I do in a Mexican or Mariscos a restaurant, BUT I had to return the Campechana I ordered untouched because it was disgusting ! I found this place about 2 years ago and man oh man did I fall in love with not just only the food but the scenery. Plants and flowers as you enter the place, makes you feel as your back in the motherland. Inside it's very authentic with posters and pictures of back home. As we sat down the staff greeted us and we're ready to take our order right away. As usual I always get my pupusa de queso and frijol, never a disappoint. Metapan makes my favorite pupusas in the Valley. I usually do take out so this is based on the pupusas only. I tend to go meatless for pupusas and have loved their lorocco and bean and cheese pupusas. I have spoken to Salvi people and they agreed that Metapan serves some of the best pupusas in the Valley.
