However it must have been the end of the lunch rush because not even a couple minutes later a few tables cleared out. On a warm day their pitcher of chicha was the way to go. Very refreshing and not overly sweet. Our table ordered anticuchos; extremely flavorful, lomo saltado; so so good. Fries were perfect, meat was tender and the sauce was the perfect salty tangy seasoning. Although I do feel it was a tad light on the portion of meat compared to other places. If you want some real OG Peruvian food, check them out. The waitress is super nice, the food is fire, there restaurant is always clean, and they place a mix of music on a TV. We always get a mixture of different dishes but two staples are their salad and avocado stuffed with chicken (super light and fresh). Recently we've gotten their their steak lomo saltado, the calamari dish, their chaffa (fried rice) dish with shrimp and chicken. All of their dishes have been super good, fresh, and flavorful. Food was great, the service was fair, & the environment wasn't the best. Let's start with the food. The breaded chicken & the tacu tacu (beans & rice mixed & cooked together) were delicious. The chicken was nicely breaded & was also nice to chew. The rice & beans were flavored great & the onion salad made it all come together very nicely. The beef was cooked well, not raw or anything & the veggies had great flavor as well. The service was fair, kind of took a small while to get anyone's attention, & it seemed rushed. As for the environment, it was hot. The electricity went out right as we got our food so the restaurant started getting hot quickly. This made us rush a little bit as we were starting to sweat as we ate our food. All in all it was great food with unfortunate circumstances. In 20 years living in the United States, this is the best and most authentic Peruvian food I've had. However, the service has room for improvement. The Mexican lady waiter is always moody and ignores you when you ask for simple things as water or sauces. We go often with family and friends and they always point out her attitude. After all the 4 Star reviews I wanted to go to this place and try it out. We ordered a salteado de mariscos y bistec a lo pobre. We found a hair on the bistec a lo pobre on the fries. Service was rushed the lady didn't even wait for us to tell her what we wanted to drink she practically decided for us. We asked for ketchup as we had fried in our plates and she only gave us 3 little ketchup packets which was not enough. We kept on asking for more and she kept bringing us 2 packets more. So limited. The prices are not updated on their menu so whenever you order you have no idea what the prices are. At the end the server practically asked for her tip. Which to be honest I thought that was rude. For the service she provided to us, she shouldn't have asked for gratuity. I won't go back, from my personal experience. I was craving a pan con chicharrón this morning and after calling a couple of different places in the valley, I decided to try Rincon Criollo. The porcion de chicharron was so good and authentic and it reminded me of the ones I used to get in Lima. I paired it with a tamal that was also super tasty. Ordered: Saltado Cielo, Mar Y Tierra $15.95 ribeye, chicken and shrimp Lomi Saltado $14.95 ribeye Picante De Mariscos $16.95 Seemed like only locals dined here at dinner. Atmosphere and service was casual. Both Saltado dishes were very tasty. I actually took all the fries aside and smothered them with the cilantro sauce on the table -- so good! Kiddo's shrimp, octopus and squid dish was also good. We ordered no picante and it was still a little spicy but kiddo totally handled it with the help of some rice. For dessert, we tried the Helados De Lucuma Grande ice cream for $9.99 - delicious and enough to share between 3 people. Lucuma is a Peruvian fruit that's a cross between mango and avocado. I've been to bigger names like Mario's over on Melrose and smaller joints like Lonzo's in culver city but hands down this place has the best ceviche mixto. The quality of the seafood is fresh but what really takes it away is everything else. The leche de tigre was perfect, the cusco corn, toasted corn, and sweet potato were all WARM when I was eating it. Usually those ingredients play second fiddle but oh man they were the star at this place. At $19 it might seem a little steep but it's got loads of fish, octopus, shrimp, and mussels. 10/10 will be a returning customer. You get bread to start and you can have it with butter or better yetdip it in the Hulk Sauce (the mean green spicy sauce). I randomly stumbled across this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The food was pretty good (I ordered the Saltado de lomo y camarones). It was packed for a small spot, so that was a sign that the food must be good. I wouldn't say it's the "best" Peruvian food, but it was better than decent.
