I went with the Chicken Verde and Pork Chile California. First off... these tamales are HUGE. I couldn't even finish everything! The masa was super soft and moist, not dry at all, and they packed each tamale with a generous amount of meat. The salsa on the side added the perfect extra flavor too. Tamales House is a great option for people who are looking for Tamales that don't use animal fat. Meaning the corn masa mix they make are made of vegetable shortening and margarine. How do I know?? I asked the staff who confirmed with the chef. ;) Also, my palate can taste the difference between traditional masa mixed with animal fat versus vegetarian masa. While am partial to the former, I think Tamales House perfected the vegetarian masa. Their tamales are fresh, moist, and soft. Been hearing positive reviews and finally got to try for the first time. I order meal #1 which has 1 tamale (any protein) but I got the beef, rice and beans, and also ordered 3 tamales on the side (1 chicken and 2 pork). Everything was delicious!! Their hotsauce - is really hot but it goes well with the food. The place is decent size. With atleast "maybe 5-6 seating tables? Service was fast and staff are helpful. There was a bit a a line when I ordered ao I had to wait for like 10 min which is not bad. I was craving tamales and decided to give this place a try. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. I ordered the verde chicken tamale and champurrado, and both were served cold and tasted bad. First thing first there are two things you need to know before coming here. There are 6 tables so it's not huge. This is not fast food so if you're impatient then this is not the place for you. There are a few tamales to choose from. I went right for the jalapeño and cheese once because my grandma used to make them. Tamales House is in a stripmall, basic fast food format where you order at the counter, pick up, eat at tables, or take out. Obviously, emphasis is on Tamales of all kinds: meat, vegetarian, but there is an errant Chile Relleno, Costillas de Puerco en Salsa Verde, limited street tacos, etc. 1) Tamal de Pollo con Salsa de Chile Verde is stuffed with breast meat chicken in green sauce. Breast meat is moist & soft without much Umami as usually expected. Chile Verde Sauce is subtle yet still retains a fermented, green Chile, Tomatillo flavours. However, there is a blandness that may need a bit of chopped Jalapeño or Serrano to give it a slight piquant kick to excite the taste buds. However, on the positive side, the Masa has a good infusion of Salsa de Chile Verde The Chile Verde Sauce on the side had a good vinegar acidity, garlicky, piquant green Chile flavour which did awaken the Tamal de Pollo con Chile Verde. 2) Tamal de Puerco con Salsa de Chile Colorado or "California Sauce" according to Tamales House. Generous amount of stringy, meaty pork in a very pronounced red Chile sauce which reminds me of flavours in "Chile con Carne" and has a kick with complex flavours that are sweet-salty, touch smoky, acidic, herbal, earthy on the palate. The Pork is the better of the two Tamales. The Salsa Roja has a cloudy, creamy look and vinegar acidity. Good Chile piquancy that has a lingering warmth and heats up the lip & palate. Canned tomato Umami, garlic, slight smokiness which enriches the relatively mild tasting Masa. The Masa at Tamales House is kind of like eating a firmer version of cream of wheat. Baby food soft as one chews, kind of mushy. Like to have a more rough ground Masa that has a substantial mouth feel instead of almost baby food pablum. Went to buy tamales about 2weeks ago. For starters I ordered a dozen I get charged for 15. The gentleman who took my order starts a refund. Tell me it will go back to my card (paid with debit). I waited a couple of days since it was a Saturday. Gave it a couple of days for my bank to process. Go back to Talk to Juan the manager. Gave me this long run around how the guy did a cash refund not a debit. Makes some calls has me waiting around for an hour. Finally gave me a copy that the refund will be hitting my account in 1-3business days. It hit my account Monday 6/4. Wake up today they pulled my refund Wednesday 6/6. You might say whatever it's $15.00 the point is it's my money. I was going to let this go but I've called them multiple times today. Feels like Mr.juan is trying to hide or not deal with this. Surprisingly I really liked the beef and was super into the strawberry tamale even though I'm not big on sweet tamales. The masa itself is tasty and is not dry. The food was super cold, the tacos I ordered without onions an cilantro (kid allergic to onions) came with onions an cilantro. The taco meat was very hard an old,not fresh it had a dark black color. Every year they have their pumpkin spice tamale for October and I made sure to get one, it did not disappoint and was delicious! Lots of flavor and really soft, felt fresh. The customer service is good, they aren't the quickest with getting orders out, but its not too bad either. Worth the wait if the food is good. I ordered a Cafe de Olla and was charged $4.25, but the menu board clearly lists 16oz for $3.12 and 20oz for $3.63. When I asked about the price difference, I was told they had "just changed the price today." If that's the case, the menu board should be updated before charging customers more. I actually really liked the coffee and the tamales and was planning on stopping by every day, but after the way this was handled especially when the manager walked away when I politely asked for her name, I won't be returning. I ordered the flautas which normally come with the salsas on the side for obvious reasons.. I got them delivered already drenched in salsa so the fried tortillas had the texture of wet paper. On top of that they were burnt.. just straight up zero care or pride. Tried to eat the meat with the chips but there was no salsa because it was already drenched into the now wet paper tortilla.. Came here on a Monday around noon. I had never had restaurant tamales before, only homemade, so I was very excited to try them. The inside only had 1 booth occupied and different Disney movies were playing on the tv's so we decided to dine in. I ordered the number 3 which comes with 2 tacos, 1 tamale, rice, and beans. Unfortunately they were out of Al pastor tacos so I got carne asada and I got pork for the tamale. I decided to order an extra pork tamale because I wasn't sure how big they would be. My boyfriend ordered the same exact thing and got a horchata. Each plate was around $14. The food came out quickly. The extra tamales were served on their own styrofoam plate and were still wrapped (which ended up being better for us because they were so big we had to take these home). The plate also came with a green salsa and a spicier red salsa. I put the lime juice all over the plate and ate the radishes with the tacos, they were good and flavorful. The tamales were packed with shredded pork and had great flavor, especially loved using both salsas with it since the outer grain was very thick. We heated up the leftover tamales at home for dinner and ate them with the leftover salsa, them alone being a good meal. Very happy with the experience! Would definitely get again for cheap tamales and friendly service. read more

The place has five small booths and one table for dine in. You order food at the counter, pay for it and then it is brought to the table. We ordered two tamale combos, one with beef and one with chicken. In both cases the meat is shredded. Personally, I prefer ground beef over shredded beef. That did not hurt the taste of the food. The beans and rice were good and the tamales were moist had a lot of flavor and sauce inside for each of the meats. One aspect that stood out was that after payment, they do not shove the monitor in front of your face enforcing pressure to decide on a tip. Instead, the transaction is over quickly. The Tamales are great however it's a long wait , It's been 3 times I come this year and I have to wait 20 minutes to get 2 tamales . How are you called tamal house and never have tamales available on Sunday's yours most busy days . The young staff members need to be trained again on what to prioritize .
