    Menudo has no hominy.

I don't like leaving negative reviews but I am very disappointed this morning with our food from Castillo, it was our first time trying this restaurant too. It was a to-go order so our disappointment initially was when we got home and found NO hominy in the menudo, would have been good to know that's how they make it, then the broth was bland too, not much flavor. We ordered the salsa verde plate too and I think it was just ok, not impressed. The other thing to top it off was that it was overpriced, we wouldn't mind having paid $41 (2 sodas included) for this if the food was actually good. I give it two stars because the service is friendly and the restaurant looks clean.

El mejor servicio y platos. Siempre están atentos con uno y con que más ellos pueden hacer por uno, lo tratan como familia :). No dejara de venir!!! Pruébalos y da tu el review. I love this place it great if you haven't try them you need to come the food and the service is amazing!!!

Came here for breakfast. I went with the huevos rancheros. Let me say this they weren't what I expected. Im use to the hard fried tortilla but, the food was great. The rice and beans taste good. The sauce for the eggs taste good also. Came on a Sunday morning it was not busy which I liked. Their cashier and cook were friendly pretty welcoming.

Was in the area and craving machaca. So glad I found this place on Yelp. It was early in the day so not crowded. It's a small place, nothing fancy, and pretty hidden. Friendly service, accommodating, and quick. Ordered a machaca plate, an asada burrito, and horchata. Free chips and salsa when dining in. The spicy salsa was so dang good and made my scalp sweat! Everything was so delicious, including the rice and beans. The ratio of meat to rice in the burrito was on point. Will definitely be back!

If you cannot get street parking in front of the cafe, you are better off parking in the Harbor Freight parking lot off Nordhoff and taking the 2 minute walk. Yellow House is nestled between other small businesses but you won't miss the entrance as it is highlighted by a big yellow wall. Ambiance: The exterior of the building almost plants the idea that the cafe will be small, but once entering the building you get a different feeling. The interior is spacious even having 2 stories. The interior exudes a calm, cozy, minimalistic feel. It really does feel like you are walking into a warm inviting yellow home, albeit a little loud and busy. There is a good amount of natural light coming from all the windows and depending on the time of year, they also decorate for each holiday. Drinks: We have gotten the tiramisu iced latte, creme brulee matcha, Earl grey Matcha, and Strawberry matcha, and sea salt caramel americano. Order all drinks half sweet or you'll get a cavity- heed the warning of this tooth fairy. But in all seriousness, their drinks are SWEET so be aware. All of the drinks taste like what they advertise though which is amazing! If you're looking for top tier matcha quality this isn't the place, this isn't Rocky's matcha but if you're in sheer desperation and ache for some green drink derived from leaves, it'll work. Service: Everyone is nice and the drinks come out pretty quickly considering their crafted nature. Overall: There's a reason we keep coming back! It's reliable, has lots of cool varieties, and consistent! Although I will say a bit overpriced, but that seems to be everywhere these days so eh.

There is a lot of seating if you want to enjoy your food and drinks. Staff was nice. My wait time for my drink was around 10 minutes which isn't too bad. Around 3 pm they weren't that busy on a week day. I ordered a matcha latte and it was okay. It didn't really stand out to me but it was still good and enjoyable. It was too sweet for my liking and that may have been my fault for adding honey. I don't think I would be going back but it was nice to try.

I usually order this same meal and genuinely love it, but today just felt like a miss. The toast was extremely thin and hard--almost more like a crisp than bread. I asked if there was another option or even just a different slice, but was told that all the bread was like that, which was surprising since that hasn't been my experience here before. The house-made jam was also off today--it was much more watery than usual and didn't have that same rich texture I'm used to. The potatoes were underwhelming as well--lacking seasoning and slightly burnt. I will say, the server was kind and did bring out a vegan date pastry after I had already received my bill, which I appreciated. It just wasn't something I would typically choose, and nothing was adjusted on the bill. For the price, I just expected more consistency and care, especially from a place I usually really enjoy. I don't mind paying for a good meal, but today it just wasn't up to par. I'm hoping this was just an off day because I've had much better experiences here in the past and would love to see them get back to that.

We got both of them, cut them in half and ate those. Then we saw a tiramisu French toast on the sign and gave that an order as well. If you come here, I feel you need to get both the huevos rancheros and the chilaquiles. They actually balance each other perfectly. Both of the flavors are just so well crafted, plus you get so much avocado with each of your dishes. We were really excited for the tiramisu French toast though. Our order came out looking like pancakes, but it was okay, because these pancakes were made extremely well. They don't have the same texture or density as normal pancakes. They taste a lot better. Weekends will be busy and there will be a wait for a table, but I ventured in with some friends on a Wednesday, and we were quickly seated. On this occasion, our server took a fairly long time to come to our table, and was very low energy. One got the sense that she may have been preoccupied with some things, but she was still professional and did everything that needed to be done, so let's just chalk up the lack of enthusiasm to a Wednesday blues. I ordered the Hash Benedict, which replaces the traditional Canadian bacon with Corned Beef Hash but otherwise has all the usual Benedict elements. The eggs were poached nicely, with just the right amount of "runniness" to them, and the Hollandaise sauce had a pleasingly acidic bite and an enjoyably light consistency. The corned beef hash, however, was unmemorable. Not much flavor and perhaps a bit too heavy for adding so little taste to the dish. One friend ordered the Fort Lox, which is the Nook's take on the Jewish deli staple, Lox, Eggs and Onions. It was a generous portion, expertly scrambled, and served with properly browned breakfast potatoes. He ate every bite, and enjoyed it. His wife ordered the Big Mamma Omelette: eggs whites folded over spinach, veggie sausage, garlic, jalapenos and mushrooms, then topped with melted mozzarella. This was also a very generous portion, again served with nicely browned potatoes. Lots of ingredients, lots of flavor, and lots of satisfaction. All in all, this was a good, mid-week breakfast, though I'd not order the hash again (that's a personal thing), and I hope our server finds some bliss in the coming days.
