I would say this is the most famous deli in the valley and is one of the most popular in Los Angeles County in general. It's been around for decades and has served tons of patrons over the years. Inside is huge with all sorts of tables and booths so it can host many different sized groups from small to large. It's located in a small shopping center so there is plenty of free parking attached directly in front, which is extremely convenient. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. For this visit, I started off with a cup of the Chili and thought it was actually really good. I am a huge fan of chili and don't often get some that I really love, but this was definitely one of those. Next came the Mini Blintzes and these were pretty nice. I prefer a full Blintz because it has a lot more cheese and filling, but still these were a nice start, especially if are were new to this appetizer. For my entrée, I chose the Pastrami Reuben and thought it was great. It was honestly huge and I even forgot to take a picture of it because I was excited to eat it. We ordered the Black Pastrami Reuben to go. It came with steak fries, cole slaw, pickles, and a small handful of condiments. Inside had a well worn diner type of vibe. People were friendly and service was fairly quick. Overall, the sandwich was really well done. The fresh rye bread was so lovely. It was crispy crunchy and had a nice toastiness to it. The meat was flavorful, not too salty, and moist. And the sauerkraut added a nice crunchy tang. All in all, the sandwich was delicious and devoured in under 20min. It was plenty for both my husband and I to share a single sando. For the sides, the steak fries needed a lil salt but otherwise a decent filler side. The slaw was creamy and crisp and very refreshing. The pickles were a little under pickled and tasted a lil more cucumber-y than we'd like. I came to Brent's Deli in Northridge on 07/21/2026 for the first time at 11:30am with a party of four. This was my first time here, and I am told it is kind of an institution in this area. It is a pretty non-descript strip shopping center. It can best be described as an old-school diner/deli, full service, and pretty much always bustling. I was surprised that it was almost to capacity by 11:30am, even before the lunch rush. You take a look at the menu, and note that the prices appear to be about 5 dollars higher than places similar in nature; however, you will also soon realize that the portion size and value for that dollar goes a long way, and you will quickly notice that the price paid is really good for what you get. I ordered the Monte Cristo which was deliciously fried egg bread with turkey, ham and a side of jam. It came with potato or macaroni salad; however, I upgraded to fries which were awesome. The service was nice; however, definitely a little rushed. However, that may come with the type of establishment. Brent's Deli is an institution in the San Fernando Valley, and it may just be its best. One thing for sure, the portions are generally humongous so you will never leave hungry. Nothing succeeds like excess. In fact, most people will need a take out box for one less meal to cook. Delicatessen means delicate eating in German, but at a Jewish American Delicatessen, the emphasis is on the Eating, which I am not complaining. 1) I requested an off menu item of having a Reuben sandwich where half is Corned Beef and the other Pastrami. Brent's Reuben has warm Sauerkraut, grilled Rye bread, melted Swiss Cheese, 1,000 Island dressing. Thinly sliced, multi-layered Mound of Pastrami is a bit on the dry side. Curing doesn't create a deep meaty Umami and spicing is present but attenuated. The Corned Beef is moister with bit more Umami & plush, thin multi-layered red colored meat. I have to say the Pastrami at Langer's is cured more intensely to bring out a deep Umami as well as more complex and complementary spicing of especially warm spiced cloves that adds aromatic richness. Brent's Pastrami doesn't seem to reach that kind of apotheosis. 1b) I asked for the steak fries to be fried two minutes longer for a crisper finish which was honored. Not much in way of that distinctive potato earthiness, but acceptable. 1c) Coleslaw is mayonnaise based, watery, bland, but a good cruciferous, fibrous veggie to add more fibre, healthful phytochemicals to counter the meat overload even though it isn't flavourful 2) Carrot Cake is closer to a delicate, dense, moist spice cake. A slice is enormous since it is cut from an extra tall cake studded with crushed walnuts and a cream cheese like not too sweet frosting. At $14 it could feed 4 people. Service is fine. I have been going to Brent's for YEARS!! I used to work in the general neighborhood and went quite often, however, I'm no longer super close by, so we only go on occasion. I always enjoy it when we do. The restaurant is located in a shopping center with several other businesses. There is a large parking lot, and I've never had any issues finding a space. The restaurant has both sit down dining and take out. If you enjoy pastrami, you can't go wrong with any of the pastrami options. All of the soups are really great, and I'm especially partial to matzo ball and mish mosh. The service is always attentive and friendly. I hadn't been to Brent's in maybe 15 years, came on a Saturday afternoon on a whim. First time I came was probably around 1996! We waited about 10-15 mins outside. No shade , so watch out if it's a HOT day. We split the signature Pastrami sandwich . Very good, as good as I recall. My cousin got the tuna sandwich. . First time coming to Brent's in Northridge. I liked the ambience and service was excellent. Since it was Tuesday, they had a half sandwich Reuben on special. I ordered this special. I was delivered a plate of three slices of pickle while I waited. The special came with super salad. I opted for the barley soup. The soup was very tasty though the mushrooms that were in the soup were old. There were nice chunks of meat in the soup. The plate with a sandwich some french fries and coleslaw came out next. The sandwich had a lot of meat and a nicely bread. I liked the sandwich. The french fries were thick cut and obviously frozen fries. They were OK but could be better. The coleslaw was sour and I found a piece that looked moldy. See photo. I asked for a replacement and was brought the potato salad. One taste of the potato salad and I could taste that it had bell pepper which I do not eat so I didn't like the potato salad. I went out of my way to come here. I would not do so again. Yup, I made it out to the SFV! What got me here is meeting up with some friends craving pastrami at Brent's Delicatessen. If you make it out here, trust me. Go with the Black Pastrami Ruben. Ask for thick hand cut pastrami. It comes with grilled rye bread, Swiss cheese, hot sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing. Comes with fat fries and coleslaw. Fries serve piping hot and the cool refreshing coleslaw were a good contrast with the Ruben. Aside from that, the crew shared a few items. Potato Lakes are deep fried potato cakes served with sour cream and cherry apple sauce. The interesting dish that we had is the noddle kugel. It's a sweet casserole of thin egg noodles, sour cream, cottage cheese, cinnamon and spices. Interesting enough, it's baked with a cinnamon corn flake crust. I'm not a big fan of beef liver. Chicken liver I don't mind but beef is a different story. The version here is chopped liver with specs of egg, and mayo looking like a tuna salad served with rye bread, side of tomato and onions. Anyways, I sucked it up and tried it. Well, I didn't die and I guess it's good for me. That iron grittiness is hard to get over. I had a sampling of the matzo ball soup. Great broth, tasty matzo ball and shredded chicken make for good comfort food. Service here is great and this place is packed like a can of sardines. We were there around 1pm and had to wait 30min for a table. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza and there is ample parking. The inside is a bit outdated but very reminiscent of a dinner. The menu is big with lots of options. I opted for half a sandwich and soup option. I ordered the chili and have to give it a 9/10. Comes with cheese and onions on the side. It was flavorful, rich and hearty and I was already full. I had the turkey pastrami for the sandwich and wow was it big! Ate the leftovers the following day but it was really good. Bomb! 555- This sandwich was great! They use a thin sliced pastrami here, and they piled it on pretty high. The swiss cheese was melted nicely and the cole slaw gave the sandwich some texture. I liked the combo of the russian dressing AND mustard too. The onion roll was nice and buttery and soft too. A damn fine sandwich! Onion Rings- Meh. This is where it fell short. The onion rings looked good, but they were not. They were all batter and barely any onion. No bite or chew to the onion, basically like eating batter and air. Would definitely get fries or something else instead, next time. Bummer too, because I love me some onion rings! Service was ok. Not much to it. Brent's Deli is a true New York style Jewish Delicatessan. The look, the feel, and the food transcend you to a typical Jewish deli. Brent's Deli located in the San Fernando Valley rivals the more famous Langer's in town in the Westlake area of Los Angeles. So it was without a doubt that I had the Brent's #13 which is similar to Langers #19 --- pastrami topped with cole slaw, Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing on a double baked rye bread. The specialty sandwich was exactly what the soul was looking for and certainly as good as Langers #19 without the hassle of the drive to Westlake. I've always loved Brent's because it brings me right back to my New York days, when I was always in delis. The atmosphere has that true NYC deli feel, which makes the experience even better. Went on a Saturday afternoon around130 thinking it would be empty. Well I had a 20 min wait that actually only took about 10 mins. The restaurant was packed the tables and booths were full. Started with a potato latke app that came with sour cream and apple sauce. Perfectly cooked and completely got me ready for the star of the show. The Rueben sandwich. It came with fries and Coleslaw. It was topped with the Russian dressing Swiss cheese and sauerkraut. Tender pastrami, flavorful dressing and a treat to eat. The staff was super friendly and very attentive. Our drinks stayed full and they gave us drinks to go. The sandwich is piled high with meat and honestly half would work. Next time I'll try the half sandwich and soup combo! Recently went back to Brent's - pretty much an iconic restaurant at this point in the LA area. A few friends and I were talking about matzoh ball soup and I just so happened to be in the area visiting a friend, so I thought it would be perfect to hit this place up on the way home. I came in the late afternoon so I was able to get seated pretty much right away. Since it was almost dinner time there were groups starting to trickle in (it was a Sunday). I saw that they had a soup and sandwich combo with the pastrami and I couldn't pass it up lol. And of course I had to order a chocolate egg cream on top of that to wash everything down. Some of my friends swear this is the best matzoh ball soup in the area. It's comforting and delicious and hits the spot. Having the sandwich was such a treat as well. Went there again. It was great. I love the corn beef. One of my granddaughters had the pastrami and she loved it too. The coleslaw I was a little dry, but that's OK. Next time I'll tell them to add more liquid. The corn beef have just the right amount of fat. That's what makes it taste so good. The service was really good. Again, points for having egg cream on the menu. The server didn't seem to know how to make it, and needed to get help. They brought extra seltzer, and at first I thought I had to mix it myself. (Not the case.) It was ok. Not great. And maybe the first egg cream I didn't finish I had the Reuben with pastrami and tasted the pastrami on its own. Lots of flavor, tender, very good! (Not as good as Katz's but probably as good as Langers.) Yay for steak/thick cut fries. Could have been crisper, and should be seasoned even a little as they are removed from the fryer The bakery gets an F. Most of the stuff was prepackaged and looked meh. Very limited selection. We left without getting anything. (Unheard of!) Honorable mention: Pickle plate on the table as you are seated. And the pickles were pretty good. I had the pastrami on rye with Cole slaw and Russian dressing, and a bowl of matza ball soup. My mother ordered an omelette. First off, if you're going to charge $14 for a bowl of matza ball soup, you would think they could afford to put salt in it. I NEVER add salt in restaurants...did multiple shakes to make it palatable. The pastrami also had little flavor, and the cole slaw and dressing had NO tang....just flat. I've been wanting to come to Brent's Deli for a long time now, and finally had the chance. This place is awesome. On the inside, time has stood still for the last 40 plus years. The decor is old school, there is a full on deli that you can order from, in addition to plenty of baked goods like black and white cookies, chocolate eclairs, carrot cake, and Lemon bars. Everything looks fresh and delicious. As we sat at our table, we were greeted with a plate of kosher pickles and a plate of rye bread with butter. The service here is great, and your waiter is constantly checking on you to make sure you have everything you need. Nothing smacks like a Jewish Deli. Brent's is a valley institution! Their pastrami sandwich is one of the best in town. I like to get mine with coleslaw instead of sauerkraut. Old school diner feel with an exceptional staff and quick service. Yes, the pastrami sandwich tastes as good as it looks. Came for lunch, wished I'd came for breakfast and could stay for dinner. The staff was very attentive, got me some water and took my order immediately and the sandwich was on the table almost as fast. Rye bread was super fresh, soft with a nice crust. Pastrami was tender and seasoned great. I added some deli mustard which resides on each table and got to it. I was given pickles with my water and I ate those along side of the sandwich. The potato salad was average, the real star is the pastrami. I'll be back for breakfast eventually, the pastrami and eggs sounds amazing. read more
