One of two around Los Angeles. The other is down near LMU. I wouldn't really call it a diner, it's more of a traditional breakfast restaurant and can be a nice option, especially if some of the really popular ones have longer lines. This location in the valley has much easier parking and our server was very polite and friendly. Inside is also larger here and can host many different sized groups. It was very crowded when we stopped in for our Saturday brunch, but the tables turned pretty quickly. For this visit, I chose the Baja Benedict, which was a special which was basically an Eggs Benedict with avocado and pico de gallo on top. It was very good and eggs were cooked perfectly although I really wish they would have chorizo. We also ordered some of the strawberry Red Velvet pancakes and thought they were a great sweet treat. Overall, this is a nice option and I would recommend if you're searching for some breakfast. read more

Treated myself to a solo breakfast the other morning since I had a little extra time to myself. I hadn't been to The Nook in years and remembered they had a pretty good menu so I decided to stop by since I was already headed in that direction. I got there pretty early, around 9am, and there were already a few people dining. I ended up ordering sunny side up eggs, a side of bacon and a waffle. Everything was great and the customer service was excellent. I'll have to remember to stop by again soon. I forget that it's tucked away in this small shopping center next to the other plaza that has the Michael's and Yamatos. read more

The Nook is a convenient, comfortable breakfast spot that's nicely appointed and clean as can be, with a welcoming staff. Weekends will be busy and there will be a wait for a table, but I ventured in with some friends on a Wednesday, and we were quickly seated. On this occasion, our server took a fairly long time to come to our table, and was very low energy. One got the sense that she may have been preoccupied with some things, but she was still professional and did everything that needed to be done, so let's just chalk up the lack of enthusiasm to a Wednesday blues. I ordered the Hash Benedict, which replaces the traditional Canadian bacon with Corned Beef Hash but otherwise has all the usual Benedict elements. The eggs were poached nicely, with just the right amount of "runniness" to them, and the Hollandaise sauce had a pleasingly acidic bite and an enjoyably light consistency. The corned beef hash, however, was unmemorable. Not much flavor and perhaps a bit too heavy for adding so little taste to the dish. One friend ordered the Fort Lox, which is the Nook's take on the Jewish deli staple, Lox, Eggs and Onions. It was a generous portion, expertly scrambled, and served with properly browned breakfast potatoes. He ate every bite, and enjoyed it. His wife ordered the Big Mamma Omelette: eggs whites folded over spinach, veggie sausage, garlic, jalapenos and mushrooms, then topped with melted mozzarella. This was also a very generous portion, again served with nicely browned potatoes. Lots of ingredients, lots of flavor, and lots of satisfaction. All in all, this was a good, mid-week breakfast, though I'd not order the hash again (that's a personal thing), and I hope our server finds some bliss in the coming days. read more

If your planning a weekend trip, be advise that it does get pretty busy. There's always going to be a line. What we tend to do is, if there's bar seating available, jump on it. Saves the hassle of waiting for a table. There's a few spot along the counter so it can be limited depending on the time you visit. Inside tables as well as outside and a little patio area. Menu, it literally has everything. The choices of pancakes options are amazing. Then you have all your omelettes, breakfast special as well as a lunch menu. They only open for breakfast and lunch. Honestly don't think I've even had anything besides their breakfast which is amazing. Service is alway great and all the staffs are very friendly. The food is alway good and plentiful. Their omelette, which is a plus for me alway comes with either toast, English muffins or bagel. And a side of either hash brown, house potatoes, fruit, cottage cheese or tomatoes slices. This visit, an order of the veggie omelette and mvp omelette. Both were amazing and flavorful in their own way. The potion of them is quite nice as well. When you enter, you are greeted and checked in. Wait time is usually not too bad here. When you're seated, service is typically very good. The food is super delicious and above par compared to other breakfast restaurants. The inside is usually not too quiet nor too loud, as there are lots of people inside a small restaurant and everyone is either talking with their friends or simply quiet and enjoying their meal. Recently went here with my family for Brunch and ordered our usuals - 1 order of Green Machine $17.95, 2 orders of Eggs Benedict $17.50 and 1 order of 6-4-3 with Chocolate Crunchy Toast. The food is the same quality, taste and portion, I love how they keep the price of their menu reasonable. We recently also went to one of the breakfast place in Tarzana that also has the Green Machine and that place was I think overpriced their menu over the years so we decided to drive 2 miles more. The service here is great, lots of staff that are very attentive, the place was really packed and there was a lots of people are waiting to be seated but we only waited 15 min for party of 4. The inside is still the same as when we last went there, same tables, chairs and faces of the servers. Lots of seating inside and out. Will definitely go back here and drive that extra 2 miles that to eat at the other overpriced place. read more

First time at this place and I have only one word for it; excellent! Service was amazing, it was friendly and attentive from the opening the door for us to come in to our attentive server that brought us the extra plate (we were sharing) without having to be asked. The place is super clean (from the bathroom to the dining room). Finally the food. The food was well price for today's economy and absolutely delicious. We had book club here today and we definitely enjoyed it. The location is super clean and has inside and outside seating. The wait was less than 10 minutes which is fantastic for brunch. Our waitress was very kind. Our food came out fast and we all enjoyed what we ordered. The only thing that wasn't very good was the French toast. It was way too dry and the Nookies Benedict was lacking sauce. But everything else made up for it. The pricing is also amazing. Definitely worth checking out. read more

The bacon is crispy, the pancakes are fluffy and the my favorite, French Toast has me wanting to come back for more. Visiting Encino where our son and daughter in law live. They took us to neighborhood spot for brunch. Wonderful experience. Busy, waiting line outside. Put our name in for five and told it would be 30 to 40 minutes but we were lucky and seated in about 10 minutes. Great service from getting drinks, to ordering, to food arriving and receiving check. We also felt comfortable and never rushed. The food was done just as ordered, everything arrived at once, warm and all was delicious. It was packed, but we snagged seats at the counter and were seated right away :) The staff was super friendly and attentive. I ordered the 6-4-3 (I think that's what it's called), and my daughter ordered an omelette. Hers came with toast and hashbrowns--there were other side options. My meal had French toast, eggs, and bacon. The eggs and bacon were okay -- nothing fancy, just your standard fare, which was totally fine. But the French toast? Absolute perfection! My only gripe is you get just two pieces (basically one slice of bread cut in half). Come on, let's get two full slices for four proper triangles next time! My daughter loved her omelette but was a little surprised by the style of hashbrowns -- still tasty, just not what she expected. We left full and happy, with a nice memory made. The Nook has some of the best pancakes in LA, specifically the green machine pancakes. I love all green tea and matcha desserts and these pancakes have the perfect amount of flavor and sweetness. The green tea mascarpone sauce and whipped cream pair so perfectly with the pancakes. After a morning at UCLA with my mom we headed over for a bite to eat. We ordered the Belgium waffles, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and eggs sunny side over with hash browns. My sister was smart. She requested her Belgium waffle well done. *mental note for moi next time. Mine was a little too undercooked so I took it home, threw it in the toaster and bam...perfection! My family was very happy with their orders. I picked up the tab. $98 for 4 people for breakfast! A little pricey. My latte was very hot as per my request but had absolutely no taste.
