My husband and I went for a breakfast date here. Our FIRST TIME. Order everything at once. One star for the coffee flight. It was delicious l, probably waited like 30min for it. We ordered the huevos rancheros, breakfast bagel, and tres leches pancakes. Food came out 20min after drinks just to find out the bagel plate had a hair on the egg. We had NOT received the pancakes just our two main plate. We requested a new plate. By the time they brought the new plate out my husband was done with his plate. STILL not received the pancakes. When we had asked for an update on both plates, she said pancakes were ready but she put them back to warm up. Our thought was why not bring them out fresh so I can at least eat while waiting for the new plate that had to be remade. Anyways my new plate came out and chz was not as melted. It looked like the order was completely rushed. We understand since they had to make a new one because of the hair but there was no consideration. I only ate half not being satisfied. Still waiting on pancakes. Then we asked if we can just not do the pancakes since we had waited for so long, waitress said they were ready and still went to take another tables order. Service started out fine, but the experience ended on a disappointing note. I ordered the steak and eggs, and the food itself was not prepared correctly. I ordered my eggs over easy, but they came out completely well done. I also asked for my steak to be pink in the middle, but it was cooked well done to the point that I could barely cut into it. To their credit, I sent the steak back and they did remake it correctly. What really left a bad impression, though, was the billing issue. My meal was served with toast even though I never requested it, and no one asked if I wanted to add it. When the bill came, I noticed I had been charged extra for the toast. When I asked about the charge, the server insisted that I should have told them ahead of time that I didn't want toast. That made no sense because the toast wasn't listed as part of the meal, so there was no way for me to know it would automatically be added or charged separately. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, the server became dismissive and her attitude changed completely. The same thing happened to my sister, except she was charged $1.00 for her bread while I was charged $1.50 for what appeared to be the exact same item. The inconsistent pricing only added to the confusion. Adding items to a customer's bill without asking first, then expecting customers to know they need to decline them in advance, is not a transparent business practice. While I appreciate that the kitchen corrected my steak, the combination of poorly cooked food, confusing charges, inconsistent pricing, and the server's attitude made this a disappointing experience. read more

I came here today for brunch with my best friend for her birthday. We arrived around 11 a.m. and were seated right away since the restaurant wasn't busy yet. While we waited, I got us water, and because we were catching up, it took us about 15 minutes before we were ready to order. We both ordered iced coffees. I ordered the steak and eggs (medium with scrambled eggs), and my friend ordered the huevos rancheros. Around noon, the lunch rush started, and that's pretty much the last we saw of our waitress. Someone else brought our food, and I immediately noticed two issues. First, the eggs were overcooked. The presentation is beautiful, but it's not practical. They serve the eggs in a cast-iron skillet, which continues cooking delicate foods like eggs after they leave the kitchen. Before I even flipped them over, I could tell from the bubbles on top that they had overcooked. Sure enough, the bottom was browned and overdone. Then I cut into my steak. I ordered it medium, but it came out well done. It was tough enough that it took effort just to cut through it. After finally flagging someone down, my waitress returned, and I explained the problem. She asked me to hand back the entire serving board so they could remake the steak. That honestly surprised me. The only issue was the steak, so I simply moved my toast onto the board and handed her the plate instead. It was a small interaction, but it made me feel like the staff lacked experience handling situations like this. The replacement steak was much better, and I genuinely enjoyed the potatoes and the garlic butter that came with the meal. Unfortunately, the service never recovered. From the time our food arrived until we left around 1 p.m., nobody checked on our table, refilled our water, offered more coffee, or brought the check. It was frustrating because I saw our waitress walk around with water for other tables but didn't come to us at all. I eventually had to flag down another employee, who apologized, offered us water to go, and brought the check. Ironically, that's when our original waitress finally came back saying she'd bring it. Whether it was poor communication between staff or simply inattentive service, I honestly don't know. I usually prefer speaking with a manager directly rather than leaving a negative review, but getting anyone's attention was difficult enough that by the end of the meal I was simply ready to leave. I really wanted to like this place. The restaurant is beautiful, and it's easy to see why it's become popular on Instagram. Unfortunately, it felt like the focus was on creating an aesthetic experience rather than a great dining experience. For two people, the bill came to about $65 before tip, and it just didn't live up to the hype. The food alone is a 3-star experience, but the service is ultimately why I'm giving this restaurant 2 stars. A note for management: I'd strongly reconsider both staff training and how certain dishes are served. There's no practical reason to serve scrambled eggs in a cast-iron skillet when the residual heat continues cooking them after they leave the kitchen. Just as importantly, servers should be ensuring the entire dining experience is enjoyable not just taking an order and disappearing until it's time to drop off the food. Guests shouldn't have to flag someone down for refills or even the check. If you're looking for a trendy brunch spot with great photo opportunities, you'll probably enjoy it. If you're looking for thoughtful cooking, attentive service, and a restaurant where execution matches the presentation, I'd skip this one. read more

I found this restaurant on Yelp and was eager to try it. After looking at their photos, I noticed they offered quite a wide selection of food. I waited about 40 minutes to be seated, as I arrived during a very busy period. The restaurant has a cozy, rustic-modern cafe vibe that leans casual but is thoughtfully designed. However, it was very rowdy by the time I was seated. Let's talk about the service. My server was one of the slowest I've ever had. It took her about 15 minutes just to bring out our drinks, and she lacked attentiveness. She didn't seem able to handle multitasking. I ordered the chorizo burrito and some pancakes. The chorizo burrito consisted of chorizo, scrambled eggs, melted cheese, and home fries (country-style potatoes). The home fries inside the burrito were dry and had a hard texture, I honestly felt like I might hurt my jaw chewing them. The chorizo itself had a mildly spicy, smoky flavor. It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst either. The pancakes had a buttermilk flavor and were served with fresh fruit on top. However, they were dry and tough, and the flavor was very lackluster. We waited a while before getting seated. I normally do not mind the wait, but it wasn't busy and there were enough servers to seat us and manage the front. It just seemed a little disorganized. It took time for them to take our order too, but when our dishes arrived, they were delicious! What a great breakfast spot in an area that really needs exactly this! The menu was fairly extensive with breakfast offerings on one side and lunch on the other. They had a great coffee menu and a limited but well curated local draft beer selection. They also had wine, listed by varietal. Their service was quick and attentive and the ambiance was homey and inviting. Felt more like Granada Hills than the courthouse stretch of Van Nuys. This is my second post and that's totally fine ! This place is so wonderful and delicious that I wasn't sure if I wanted to share. All of the items were order came out hot and fast but soooooo fresh and filling. The service was an amazing. They do a great job using all of the workers to check on the guest and attend to the needs. They are kind and polite as well as efficient. The inside just tops off all of the other parts and makes it that much more wonderful. You get to sit and enjoy with that feeling of being rushed through . First off, this is a beautiful location with lots of light. The service was excellent, and everyone was friendly even though it was quite busy. Unfortunately, there must have been some kind of miscommunication as I ordered my chilaquiles with over medium eggs (because runny whites gross me out) and they came over hard, almost baked. The food is delicious (with generous portions), the house coffee is flavorful, the decor is adorable, the room is spacious (yet cozy, which is neat), and the staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It has a warm welcoming feeling when you walk in and we were given a friendly greeting and seated right away. Although the service was a little slow it's understandable as it's a new place and only had one server that I noticed and one helper but they were able to take care of every table with great service. The food is really good and I look forward to trying more of the menu. I had the California omelette and it was loaded with bacon and avocado which is out of the ordinary for many other restaurants. The pancakes my daughter had were fluffy and not heavy where it felt like you had brick in your stomach. The portions are gigantic and can probably be shared by 2 people. read more

I settled on chicken and waffles and even asked the server if it was a white meat chicken breast or tenders that that were with the meal and she confirmed it was three pieces and one was white meat. Had the answer been no, I would have moved on to my other top choice or second choice or whatever. 20 min later my plate arrived with no white meat. I saw 4 pieces - all small and two were clearly a wing and drumstick and I assume the other was a thigh cut in half. I checked it to see as it was dark in the restaurant by touching it. My mom and I were sharing and she was going to eat the dark meat but the server wouldn't take the food back because I had touched it. Well that was it for my OCD, wait a do you re a serve food? Of course I touched it, I was the plate I ordered and I was looking for the white meat that was supposed to be on the plate. I just wanted her to bring me my proper order by bringing me a breast or tenders. She didn't have to remove the food. That was enough to mar my experience with them. She did bring me a piece finally. Also 7 dollars for drip coffee is outrageous. The drink prices and food prices are in separate worlds. The food pricing and taste were good. The service was mediocre. This was my second time coming to this location and I was very very disappointed. The first time I came, I came with a group of friends and the food tasted great as well as their Vanilla Iced latte. The service was also very pleasant. The second time around, I made a reservation online and was seated within 10min. The server was not very friendly, each time we asked questions about the menu, she didn't seem to want to give us suggestions on popular plates or drinks what plates she recommended. Her response was very dry, unfriendly "Idk, whatever you like then get it, that will be good". The food presentation was amazing but the food was very bland. I ordered avocado eggs Benedict. My eggs was overly yolky. We also ordered chilaquiles and they were bland and unpleasant. I stopped by on Sunday with a few friends, and although the restaurant was very busy, the hostesses were incredibly kind and welcoming. They seated us as soon as they could, and when I asked one of them for a menu recommendation, she suggested a dish that I really enjoyed. Unfortunately, my experience after that was less positive. Our waitress seemed to be in a rush while taking our orders and didn't appear very attentive. When our drinks arrived, I was disappointed to find that my cup appeared to have already been used. It was clearly noticeable and, in my opinion, very unsanitary. To the waitress's credit, she replaced it quickly after I brought it to her attention. While I appreciated how friendly and accommodating the hostesses were and that the issue was resolved promptly, the cleanliness concern left a poor impression. Because of that experience, I don't think I would return. It just leaves me to question what else is unclean back there. read more

What a fantastic coffee shop hidden along the streets of Van Nuys! You wouldn't expect a beautiful restaurant like this but when you walk in you're greeted with the beautiful interior design of wood and plants! It's just gorgeous! There's so many food choices from Breakfast to Lunch items! I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad & my Wife for the Philly Cheesesteak! I really liked my Salad and Sweet Potato Fries! Food was unfortunately terrible. We got the chicken and waffles and bacon and eggs combo. The chicken had zero taste, waffles way over cooked. Bacon and home fries had no taste. The only give you one piece of toast. They charge a fee when you use your credit card. On the receipt it had price for cash and price for credit card. The seats are very hard and not comfortable at all. Also the place had an odor. It was very hot in there terrible air ventilation. Waitress was nice, they did take off the chicken and waffles off the bill. But we still paid almost $50!!! Place is very expensive. It was only two of us. First time trying this place out and let me say, ambiance was good. But the food not so great ordered a Chicken Pesto Sandwich with a Strawberry Matcha. For starters the Strawberry Matcha tasted super watered down and flavor was bland. The sandwich was mid it had too much onion which threw the off the flavor, the fries tasted too oily and the sauce that came with it tasted watered down as well.
