3 girlfriends and I had brunch at this new local, to me, restaurant. The location used to be my favorite cupcake shop and I was sad to see it go. Service was very friendly (she is the aunt to the young owner, who was there assisting customers too), if a bit slow. We were talking so much, we didn't care how long it took. One friend ordered iced tea and it was very watered down. They had obviously poured hot tea over ice and the melted ice dominated the results. She told the young man serving drinks and he quickly, and graciously, took her tea back and brought back another tall glass of tea tasting iced tea. My Chai Latte, no foam, arrived a little late, and was not quite hot, but it was delicious. We finally got around to ordering and we ordered the breakfast burrito, a Denver Omelet, chicken salad and the chicken burrito. We all made some adjustments to our orders, to fit our tastes, with no concerns or attitude from our waitress. The food arrived, separately, in a timely manner. I'm sure they wanted to be sure the meals were delivered while hot, but it would have been nice to have them all delivered at the same time. In any case, we all loved our food. I'm the only one that had leftovers, to have my 1/2 breakfast burrito for lunch the next day. We remained a bit longer when the staff arrived with a small hot apple pie and a lit candle, to celebrate my birthday. Everyone sang, I cut it into 4 slices and we all agreed the pie was delicious. We all enjoyed the quaint decor, very reminiscent of the cupcake shop. Seating was comfortable and they had opened up one wall to increase the number of tables. The restaurant was about 80-90% full, which is a very good sign of success. Our only issue was parking. Street parking is 2 hour metered, on Chatsworth, if you can find any and can parallel park. I couldn't find any so I parked in the neighborhood, around the corner, in front of someone's home. As we were leaving we all decided we would return to Rose Cafe. It was a nice brunch. read more

Let me just start off by saying ... I know everything now a days is expensive BUT if you give me a good plate amount it'll be worth the price. This was our first and last time coming here. Food was pretty tasty BUT the amount for the price was ridiculous. We ordered the Chorizo plate and it was ONE chorizo taco and they gave you 2 other tortillas wrapped in foil .. for what ? There's no extra chorizo to eat it with. Price 18+ Kid meals are usually $6-8 these plates were $10 & what really got us was I ordered a side of pancakes. (2) they charged $5 PER PANCAKEE. We had a pretty frustrating experience here. After placing our order, we waited at least 40 minutes for our food, which felt excessive given the situation. What made it more disappointing was seeing customers who came in about 10 minutes after us, ordered food to go, and received their meals before we even got ours. The food itself was actually good and met expectations, but the wait time and lack of communication really took away from the overall experience. Came in for a birthday breakfast, which was my first time, but my family's second time. They had a good sized menu with lots to choose from! They even have vegetarian and vegan options! We got one coffee to try and it was okay, not the best 4/5 on taste, but I personally wouldn't get it again. Food was delicious! And staff was very friendly! My husband and I had a nice brunch date today in this local, cozy restaurant. Yo will be feel in another country, because the decoration is very European vibe. The service is really nice, friendly, fast, and the food is delicious! My husband loved the chai latte. The brown sugar ... late was very tasty. If you don't eat too much, you can share and save a room for a pancake. Next time, we will try the pies. The price is reasonable. Another observation is that locals go there! It is very nice! I am so happy this restaurant has opened close to me in Granada Hills. I came today with my mom and we were delighted with the customer service and well prepared food. I think this may be the top breakfast spot in this area. My chilaquiles Rojas w/ chicken was so delicious!! The best I had in a really long time. The beans were good, the rice was moist, and the chicken had so much flavor and the food was made fresh and hot!! I love how they even give you avocados without asking it comes with the dish that I ordered. The menu is massive and it has so much to choose from!! From breakfast to lunch!!! This is why I will be back for sure!! My latte was even good and they have almond milk!! It's a cute restaurant that's family owned and it's pretty spacious inside with decent seating! Honestly, I can't believe I didn't try this place sooner. The waitress was super sweet, attentive, and genuinely happy loved that. I have eaten here three times when they first opened. It was great. I have eaten their turkey croissant sandwich in the restaurant, and it was incredibly generous and delicious. Today I had it delivered, and it tasted awful. There was something wrong with the mayonnaise. The turkey was cut very thin and there was little of it. And you can see by the photo that there was only a hint of avocado. And the ranch I asked for on the side was gross. I don't know if it was old, but it was definitely watered down and tasted funny. It's not a cheap sandwich. Now I'm not in a hurry to go back to the restaurant and try again. read more

Update: took my husband here for his birthday breakfast so he could try the chile relleno plate. Given that it's their soft opening they have room for improvement. The food came out warm - not hot. The cheese wasn't melted on the refried beans. They did reheat it for him. The beans and rice were bland. Definitely needs something added to enhance the flavors. The sauce on the chile rellenos also needed a boost of flavor. Service was excellent! The eggs, bacon and fresh toast were good. Wife and I had brunch this morning at Rose Cafe and Bakery for the first time. Very pleased. Pleasant room, good service, excellent food. Wife had the blueberry pancakes--light and fluffy. What I noticed immediately was the steam coming off the pancakes--nothing worse than cold pancakes, so this was a big plus. I love a Mexican breakfast so I asked the waitress which she preferred between the huevos rancheros or the Chile rellenos. Instead of those items, she recommended the chilaquiles which turned out to be amazing. Normally chilaquiles have thin cut crispy tortilla chips, but theirs are more substantial (like Dorito-sized). I much prefer the Rose Cafe style. Excellent refried beans and rice are included in the meal as are two eggs any style. We noticed that there was a 4% savings on the bill if you pay in cash which we did. We passed our savings along as an additional tip to our waitress who was excellent. Eggs benedict should not be that easy to screw up but they did, soggy one side of the muffin and extremely hard and stale for the other, no avacado was in site after the menu stated in came with it, sauce was thick like pudding and there was only a tiny spoon full of it, and my partner got a hamburger patty with eggs that could not be cooked any worst, with patty so over cooked that it tasted like old leather, besides potatoes that were horribly undercooked with seasoning that did nothing to enhance any flavour, such a horrible experience i cannot believe a place like this can still be open and anyone would eat there read more

The huevos rancheros were bland, and the carne a la mexicana was worse -- the steak was so tough it was nearly impossible to chew. We also waited over 20 minutes for two iced lattes, only for them to come out hot. When we asked which drink was which after they were remade, the staff member said, "I don't know, I didn't make them," and walked away. Rude and unprofessional. The coffee tasted watered down, and when we went to pay, we saw it being made with what looked like a Keurig-style machine, which explained a lot. The only good part was the blitz crepe. Went for brunch during their soft open. Food was okay, omelette was bland and orange juice was too lumpy. I know it was fresh squeezed but the pulp made me gag. The oranges also didn't taste fresh. The service was not good. We sat for awhile before being attended and the waitress got our order wrong. People were going to the bakery section to order food because of the wait to be attended (maybe they were short of service that day). I ordered a breakfast burrito and it was quite small and the fruit it came with wasn't fresh. It was mushy like it had been sitting out. My daughter's breakfast plate wasn't any better. I get that it's a family owned restaurant but it be nice to just give people their money's worth. Also I didn't appreciate that they charged me an extra dollar for sugar-free syrup. It would've been nice of the server mentioned it when I placed my order. On a positive note the staff and servers are very friendly and the establishment is clean. I probably will not be returning to this place but I wish them luck. I'm sure their rent is quite high if they're charging that much for their dishes that are seriously not worth the price. I would've given them two stars, but the latte wasn't too bad and they were accommodating when I asked for my ingredients to be substituted. But honestly it is beyond me how people give 4-5 stars.
