This is not my first time at Emle's, and my experience has been relatively consistent across all my visits. Food: 4/5 The star of the show is the banana bread. It's moist with a crispy outer edge and the right amount of salt to taste but not be salty. Most of the items on the menu have pretty large portion sizes, and there is a vast selection of items. Know what you like because going through this 5/6 page menu can be exhausting. The food here includes standard breakfast and lunch items, and there is a gluten free option. Nothing is overly salty, and the sweet items are mildly sweet when without syrup, which we enjoy. Nothing shouts out at us to give the food an upstanding 5/5, but this is still a solid pick for an American diner. Note that if you order anything with strawberries (including the fruit cup), you will get exactly 1 strawberry cut into 4 pieces to ration during your meal. Service: 2.5/5 There is one person manning the floor the majority of the time, and he does a good job managing multiple tables. We came in at 9 am on a workday and there were already 25 people in the restaurant, all managed by this one waiter. There is another person who pops in every now and then to deliver food and refill coffee. That said, don't expect to be checked in on often or to quickly get your order in. Also, special requests may or may not be satisfied-- I requested that the whipped cream in my waffle order came on the side, only for it to come right in the middle of my waffle. Atmosphere: 4/5 It's a lively place! This is a popular and long lasting restaurant for a reason. The music is not loud, and there is a comfortable amount of space between each table. This was my second time at this restaurant. First time was great which we enjoyed the food. I can say their breakfast is quite nice. It's a pretty big menu so there's loads to choose from. Breakfast lunch and dinner. During our first visit, I noticed that there were a good amount of people ordering the entrees during breakfast which looked great. Fast forward to today, I had to try some. We stopped by for a late lunch which there was a good amount of people. Of course when you get there, just going through the menu was pretty exhausting...lol... I was going back and forth for breakfast or entrees. The whole point was to try something else. Opted for an order of the hummus which was served with pita and an order of the fried mushrooms. Honestly the mushrooms was a slight disappointment when it came out. It was ok but nothing much to it. Hummus was quite nice though. And the order of the seafood pasta. Served in a red sauce with calms, mussels, shrimp, and fish tossed in linguine. Flavor was ok, seafood was good though. For the price 24.99 it was ok. Also, you could add a glass of mimosas to any entrees for 1.00 which was an excellent deal. The food was good. Breakfast on the other during our first visit was great. This lunch was ok. But I did see some other entrees that were brought out that looked quite tasty. Maybe I'll have to get that a try next time. Service was great. Really slow service and awful food. Very poor and not fresh quality food. The restaurant is dirty and their water cups are greasy. The steak was really burnt, gray, bad tasting, felt frozen and not fresh... very small and thin in size. The potatoes were almost burnt, very dark brown in color and caramelized, but inside was so hard and raw. I asked them to remake the steak and it took a very long time to come out. When it finally was done, it came back even worse than the first one. They were slow but nice, so I didn't ask for a refund. They can just keep my money. Last time I'll be here. We were the only ones dining at the time too. Honestly, I don't know how they have good reviews. I'm puzzled. It was not good, I will not return. I do not recommend you try this place. read more

From vegan perspective: Vegan options, 4 main dishes and other appetizers, salads, Mediterranean breakfast and wrap are clearly market vegan. Great for mixed groups large and small. I had meatless primavera. The first chef forgot the linguine. Manager offered to replace it with proper dish after I figured something was amiss. First time having square "meatballs", but the dish was tasty and filling the second time with the linguine. In their defense they gratis that meal. The non vegans had great choices too. read more

Our favorite to go brunch place. Staff are very welcoming. Food servers are very attentive. When we come for our brunch, coffee comes to the table very quick with 2 creamers and a glass of cold water, we don't need to ask; that is how attentive the staff is. Food is served in big portion and delicious, never got tired of coming regularly for years now. I enjoyed the coziness and home feeling to this restaurant. They had a great selection of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. It seemed to be Italian based/inspired (or I believe the owners are Italian?) which means the actual food options seem very tasty. It was a little difficult to choose but ended up splitting pasta and a burrito with my friend I love Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli and although this was pretty tasty, it definitely had a unique after taste to it. I couldn't pin point exactly what it was but it didn't take like a typical spinach and ricotta ravioli dish that's I've had at other places. It wouldn't be a dish I would run back to, but, I am happy that I tried it and ultimately I still finished the entire plate! I liked the burrito as well! I LOVE cheese so next time I believe I would just ask for extra cheese! As far as parking, it's in a lot with other business' so there are an average amount of spots and I can see it be a struggle to find a space if it is peak hours on a weekend. My first time here . Saw a roach crawling up the white wall right in front of me while eating my french toast..alerted the waitress. She did nothing..walked around for 5 minutes, at least, not concerned AT ALL! I was appalled. Then roach came down the wall and she saw it and she killed it with her hands and then she didn't even wash her hands. We had to eat our meals after this ? I am so grossed out. Where is management ? Hosted my mom's 80th birthday at Emle's for ~50 adults and 8 children. Everything went without a hitch! Great food! Samer let us use the entire interior of the restaurant with ample space for a small dance floor, our dj and a Photo Booth. No hidden fees. Overall a very good value for this event. The food was delicious. However, the customer service was not very friendly when I first walked in. After explaining that I was arriving with a party, I was basically told to leave. A few minutes later, the gentleman did come by with a better attitude, but by then the experience had already become tense. We arrived at 11 AM on Saturday & and didn't have to wait for a table. Service was quick, and multiple servers/managers checked up on us regularly. The TVS had the Olympics on & light music played in the background, which was great. Mimosas were mixed well, not all OJ, which was lovely. Corned beef hash was fabulous in the benedict, and the addition of the house salsas really added to the flavor levels. Benedict Hemingway had large pieces of crab meat & salmon and a creamy flavor. It's cute, it's tasty, and mimosas are $1! Okay, you can get one mimosa for $1 with the purchase of an entree. But that's basically the same thing. I'm really into Benedicts and that's what we got. Portobello mushroom Benedict and smoked salmon Benedict. The Hollandaise was perfect. Eggs nice and runny. So good. We were out with friends and stayed for so long that we decided to get something sweet to wrap up our brunch. Got the stuffed frenchie, which was SO delicious. The strawberry ricotta cream cheese... damn!! Would get this again, 10/10. Such a nice ending to our time there. Loved the outdoor seating, even if people on the street can be a bit sketchy. We went there for Mothers Day with 12 people and without exception, everyone loved it. It was crazy busy and yet the staff got us our food quickly and even though they were moving extremely quickly, they took the time to revisit our table multiple times throughout the meal and were super friendly and helpful. I love a good breakfast sandwich and so I got the walnut Romesco Breakfast sandwich, which was definitely a new twist on the breakfast sandwich with walnuts, arugula and cream cheese, and also really good! Others got waffles, eggs Benedict, omelettes and everyone, from 14 to 88 years old was very pleased. And absolutely DO NOT miss the Banana Bread! Great place for everyone. read more

So this is a tough one for me. I have not been here in a while. Back then this restaurant was one of our favorites. We even had large family celebrations here. The staff were nice enough. The food was not as great as in the past. My number one complaint is the condition of the restaurant and restroom. The restaurant floors were dirty and the items on the table also needed to be wiped off. The restroom was horrible. There is one gender neutral rest room. Everything about is was filthy and low on supplies. We do not live in the SFV so we will not be making the trip back out here. We were always willing to make the drive and endure any wait for a table, but not anymore. I hope they read this and hire a better custodial service company because cleanliness is vital for all eateries. I would consider this a higher end restaurant with an extensive menu. Keep in mind this place is very busy so maybe the conditions don't bother others. read more

I'm surprised I haven't written this review earlier as my family and I come to Elme's Restaurant a few times a year for a brunch treat. We've always had a great experience. The service here is fast! If you see a crowd waiting to be seated, don't let it deter you. Often times we are able to sit down, decide what we want, order, eat, pay, and leave within an hour's time. So they go through the crowd quickly. And all this is not to the detriment to the service. The servers are friendly, helpful, and patient. They also never make it feel like they're pushing you out the door, but instead just clearing plates off your table as you finish them as a courtesy to you. We've had a wide range of items the menu offers from omelettes, to pancakes, waffles, burritos, and oatmeal. All of them are great. None of them are life changing, but that's totally fine. They're delicious, fresh tasting, and come in excellent portions. I often leave the restaurant with breakfast for the next day. (Who am I kidding. An afternoon snack more like it). While we haven't tried everything, at this point I doubt there is a bad thing on the menu. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also very inviting. Lots of floor to ceiling windows brings in plenty of natural light and also opens the place up so that even though tables are close to each other, you never feel crammed in there. It's also never very loud so you will still be able to carry conversations with your party at a normal level. In all, Emle's is our go to brunch place in Northridge. Two thumbs up for sure. read more

My experience wasn't great. My avocado toast came with only three small slices of avocado -- if you looked at the plate, you'd think it was mostly an arugula salad. My friend ordered a bagel, which arrived about 15 minutes after my food, and while we were waiting, she was even offered another customer's plate by mistake. The table we sat at had to be recleaned while we were already seated because of leftover water and food debris. We also weren't checked on at all during our meal. When I placed my order, the waiter forgot what I had ordered, which likely delayed my food. Overall, the service and food quality didn't match the pricing and atmosphere. read more

Ordered a tuna melt on rye, the rye bread was not grilled and it looked like it was not a melt, but an attempt to pass the sandwich off as one, the fries that came with the order looked like the were soaked in grease then plated, nasty. The NY steak and eggs were not memorable, not sure grade of meat used but no, not woth it. The menu is extensive and that may be the issue, jack of all trades, master of none. 3 stars since the in house visit before this delivery order was not great, but it was not this bad as expirenced with the delivery food.
