I heard about this spot through social media over the last 6 months.... I had driven past several times over that time and hadn't found it but on this particular day I made extra effort and located it. Honestly, big and clear logo representation would help. There was another car of people that rolled up looking also. I glimpsed a Filipino flag which confirmed that I was in the right spot. My order took quite a while, considering there didn't seem to be many customers at this time. The expectations driven by hunger were definitely building. I had ordered a Beef Tapa Burrito. Upon initial sight it looked good and of an ok size. There was a good amount of meat inside, which also featured garlic rice and egg, in a wrap. Unfortunately for me, it needed something... Beef Tapa and Garlic Rice are both dry. It needs some kinda accompaniment of the sauce or vegetable kind.... maybe atchara (pickled veges) or something to balance the dryness. For the price of $16-$17 a little accompaniment might be nice. I was a bit disappointed here for value for money and palate satisfaction. The pros are that the staff are welcoming and kind, there are plenty of seating areas, and I like that it's a Filipino cafe. The service was fantastic, there were two guys making the drink and they were very friendly and made me feel welcomed at the shop. The ambiance was also very nice, lots a people were there working or studying on their laptops. Service and ambiance were top notch. There is also a small parking lot on the side when you turn into the alley. I ordered an iced matcha latte. Unfortunately the latte was not good, perhaps they should consider taking it off their menu if the quality is not up to par. The latte was so so bitter, it tasted like they put too much of the non-ceremonial matcha from Costco. I did drink most of it but when I got to almost the bottom I couldn't finish it, it was chalky and the matcha was not dissolved properly. I could tell it wasn't going to be good as soon as I saw the color. My drink with oatmilk and tip came out to $9. Now a days, it's not an outrageous price for a good coffee shop drink but it is when the quality is not there. The french toast was still undercooked even though it took this long. The bacon in the sandwich was so burnt. The matcha tasted like seaweed--yes literally seaweed! I've never experienced that before. I will include pictures of the poor color it had, I wish I could give this place zero stars. Such a chill little breakfast nook / cafe. This place is a FIVE STAR, LOCAL FAMILY-OWNED, HIDDEN GEM. I was getting something installed on my car across the street and had to wait, so I decided to check this place out. I didn't know what I wanted to eat, but I thought I was in the mood for a late breakfast. I didn't want to read the menu for too long because I always end up getting the same things--usually breakfast sandwiches or eggs Benedict or something like that. I kinda just picked something on the menu. I read a few things that it had and it didn't sound bad so I ordered it. It was a plate with 1 fried egg, some rice, and 3 chicken patties. I can't find the name on the menu photos, but it was something like "Longhasa plate" or something like that. As I waited for my plate, I noticed how nice, tranquil, quiet and relaxing this establishment was. I also noticed how young the gentleman that took my order and prepared my plate with total care and attention seemed to be. And yet, he was cooking my eggs and patties with full focus, full transparency, and total professionalism--just a few feet from me. I didn't order any coffee because I already had my travel mug. So here's the funny story: The gentleman hands me my meal, and honestly it didn't look bad, I just wasn't sure why I had ordered a plate with rice. I felt like I maybe should've taken more time to read what I was ordering... but it was a little too late. I got up and walked over to the hot sauces and grabbed one that looked good, because I like hot sauce and initially thought I'd like some. So I try the egg. It was actually cooked perfectly and I didn't even tell him how I like my yolk (cooked but still runny). Then I try a tiny piece of patty--and at first I was caught off guard because this wasn't anything I had ever eaten before. It was sweet, and delicious.... And that's when it occurred to me... Mix it all up. And yes, that was the secret to the plate. Instructions should come with this plate. Sooo dang good! And I never touched my hot sauce! I really enjoyed breaking up the patties into bits and doing the same with the egg, and then mixing the rice. And the dish actually comes with a little salsa container with a sweet relish--and it's definitely meant to be mixed in as well. I think the chicken patties had some nuts in them. I'm not sure, so maybe careful with nut allergies--maybe ask first. I'm guessing they would warn if there was an allergen in their food, but it was delicious and I'm not allergic to nuts so I'm not worried about it, but maybe you are so double check. Egg was cooked to perfection. I wasn't even asked how I wanted it. Maybe they should ask, but they didn't need to with me. Such a chill little spot on Reseda blvd. I saw about 3 other people in there all on their laptops. I was the loudest guy there--praising the cook, and the business. Very reasonably priced. Plenty of seating. Son was cook, his sister was backup & support. Little bro made a quick appearance said hi to big bro as he worked. Bro acknowledged his little sibling lovingly. Decided to visit Cafe Aficionado and today my girlfriend and I stopped in for breakfast. The owner, Abigail, and her team offer up some amazing hospitality and quality ingredients, including some Filipino-inspired breakfast items. On this visit, however, there was a problem with their rice, so that breakfast item wasn't available. One of the chefs, Kean, however, was so wonderfully nice and offered to give us a sample of their homemade Chicken Longanisa patties and wow, they were phenomenal! They apologized for the inconvenience, but based on that sample alone, we'll be back. On this visit, we did decide to try the Sean Burrito ($15.95) which is homemade with hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage (or the half and half option which we opted for), cheddar cheese on a cheese encrusted tortilla. The portion was pretty large and served up fresh and hot. Great crust on the outside with the crispy cheese, with the inside hash browns, eggs and cheese titillating my tastebuds with some amazing flavors. Add on some of the accommodating hot sauces for an added kick of flavor. Overall, the hospitality is top-tier and the quality of the food and drinks superb. There are a few dedicated parking spots behind the building for parking, as well as some within a short walk in this residential part of Northridge. Will definitely be back to try the full Longsilog breakfast plate once everything is up and running again. Friendly staff and great drinks, but if you come for food expect a wait on a Saturday. Our drinks came out very quick, but a party before us waited 40 mins for their food and we figured we shouldn't be too far off, about an hour in we noticed people after us received their order before us. When i asked about my order i guess another person misheard their name and accidentally took my order (which happens) but after letting them know other people's orders were still sent out and similar to our order which was a beef tapa plate and Sean's burrito. An hour and 15 mins in I had to go up and ask for a refund because we had to go and I was told they just started my order and I saw the order on the end of the line. Drinks: I ordered the Caramel Pecan latte and really enjoyed it, it wasn't too sweet, just the way I like it. My husband got the Tiramisu latte and said it was on the lighter side, so if you prefer a stronger coffee flavor, keep that in mind. Food: I had the Tapsilog, and the flavor was good. My only complaint is the serving of rice was on the smaller side, and if you're Filipino, you know rice is life. Could definitely use a bit more. My husband ordered the Longanisa burrito, and honestly, he wouldn't recommend getting it as a burrito. It was messy to eat and the flavor just didn't come together well. Super cute spot with lots of specialty drinks to choose from. & they have PANDAN sweet cream which is one of my favorites. So in my journey to try as many new coffee shops this year continues, I came across this small coffee shop on Yelp with good ratings. I said sure why not since it was by my neck of the woods, walking in I already felt the vibe that yes this is a coffee shop, like not a Starbucks vibe of bland flavor and run of the mill drinks. Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was disappointing from the moment we arrived. First, there was essentially no parking available, which already made visiting the restaurant inconvenient. Once inside, I understood that seating was limited, and I normally would not hold that against a smaller restaurant. However, the seating arrangement felt extremely crowded, with very little space between guests. What made the situation worse was the cleanliness. One of the available tables was visibly dirty and had not been wiped down. Instead of an employee simply taking care of it, I was asked to pick up the items on the table and hand them to her. That immediately gave us a poor impression, especially when customers are coming in expecting a clean and properly prepared dining area. After receiving our menus, another table opened up, but it was positioned extremely close to a tablecloth/display area that appeared to be set up for photos. The space between our seating area and this setup was practically nonexistent. At one point, a lady came over and told one of my guests not to be next to it. That was frustrating because the display was literally about an inch away from where customers needed to walk or sit. If customers are not supposed to be near it, then it should not be placed directly against the pathway or seating area. We should not have to worry about accidentally touching a photo setup just trying to get into our seats. Between the crowded environment, lack of adequate space, and cleanliness concerns, we ultimately decided that we were uncomfortable and chose to leave. As we were walking out, the same level of hospitality continued. We were told to "return the menus," even though we had already placed them neatly on a clean table in the middle of the restaurant where staff could easily retrieve them and where they were not in anyone's way. The way it was said came across as unnecessarily rude, especially considering we had already decided to leave because of the conditions inside. Limited seating is understandable. A small restaurant is understandable. Limited parking can even be understandable depending on the location. What is not understandable is having dirty tables, making customers handle items from those tables, arranging seating so tightly that guests can barely move around, placing a display directly next to customer seating and then telling guests not to go near it, and finally speaking to customers disrespectfully as they leave. Unfortunately, the overall experience made us feel more like an inconvenience than paying customers. The restaurant could benefit greatly from improving cleanliness, reorganizing the seating layout, keeping photo/display areas away from customer walkways, and providing more professional and welcoming customer service. read more

There was a sort of event going on today so I can't really complain about how it took 25-30 minutes to receive our food (the last time it was very quick). We were excited to take our first bites but instantly we were confused. It tasted nothing like it did the first time I got it - and we found out why. The burrito was overwhelmed with too much garlic. We actually had to pick out chunks of the cloves out of the burrito. I get that there was an event and it was a busy day, but it's just unfortunate that a burrito that costs $20 after taxes can be this disappointing.
