Came here to try a Filipino coffee shop with my husband, and it was a bit of a mixed experience. Drinks: I ordered the Caramel Pecan latte and really enjoyed it, it wasn't too sweet, just the way I like it. My husband got the Tiramisu latte and said it was on the lighter side, so if you prefer a stronger coffee flavor, keep that in mind. Food: I had the Tapsilog, and the flavor was good. My only complaint is the serving of rice was on the smaller side, and if you're Filipino, you know rice is life. Could definitely use a bit more. My husband ordered the Longanisa burrito, and honestly, he wouldn't recommend getting it as a burrito. It was messy to eat and the flavor just didn't come together well. Overall, I'd come back for coffee and maybe try a different breakfast plate next time. read more

The service was fantastic, there were two guys making the drink and they were very friendly and made me feel welcomed at the shop. The ambiance was also very nice, lots a people were there working or studying on their laptops. Service and ambiance were top notch. Unfortunately the latte was not good, perhaps they should consider taking it off their menu if the quality is not up to par. The latte was so so bitter, it tasted like they put too much of the non-ceremonial matcha from Costco. I did drink most of it but when I got to almost the bottom I couldn't finish it, it was chalky and the matcha was not dissolved properly. I could tell it wasn't going to be good as soon as I saw the color. My drink with oatmilk and tip came out to $9. Now a days, it's not an outrageous price for a good coffee shop drink but it is when the quality is not there. My iced chai was somehow warm and watered down, and the replacement lavender lemonade tasted more like extra-sweet pink lemonade. The café also smelled so much like fried food that I left wearing the scent. Add in a few sticky tables, and it just wasn't the cozy coffee shop experience I was hoping for. Came back here with my friend because the last time I got the Sean Burrito it was fantastic - but unfortunately when we came in today, that wasn't our experience. There was a sort of event going on today so I can't really complain about how it took 25-30 minutes to receive our food (the last time it was very quick). We were excited to take our first bites but instantly we were confused. It tasted nothing like it did the first time I got it - and we found out why. The burrito was overwhelmed with too much garlic. We actually had to pick out chunks of the cloves out of the burrito. I get that there was an event and it was a busy day, but it's just unfortunate that a burrito that costs $20 after taxes can be this disappointing. Such a chill little breakfast nook / cafe. This place is a FIVE STAR, LOCAL FAMILY-OWNED, HIDDEN GEM. I was getting something installed on my car across the street and had to wait, so I decided to check this place out. I didn't know what I wanted to eat, but I thought I was in the mood for a late breakfast. I didn't want to read the menu for too long because I always end up getting the same things--usually breakfast sandwiches or eggs Benedict or something like that. I kinda just picked something on the menu. I read a few things that it had and it didn't sound bad so I ordered it. It was a plate with 1 fried egg, some rice, and 3 chicken patties. I can't find the name on the menu photos, but it was something like "Longhasa plate" or something like that. As I waited for my plate, I noticed how nice, tranquil, quiet and relaxing this establishment was. I also noticed how young the gentleman that took my order and prepared my plate with total care and attention seemed to be. And yet, he was cooking my eggs and patties with full focus, full transparency, and total professionalism--just a few feet from me. I didn't order any coffee because I already had my travel mug. So here's the funny story: The gentleman hands me my meal, and honestly it didn't look bad, I just wasn't sure why I had ordered a plate with rice. I felt like I maybe should've taken more time to read what I was ordering... but it was a little too late. I got up and walked over to the hot sauces and grabbed one that looked good, because I like hot sauce and initially thought I'd like some. So I try the egg. It was actually cooked perfectly and I didn't even tell him how I like my yolk (cooked but still runny). Then I try a tiny piece of patty--and at first I was caught off guard because this wasn't anything I had ever eaten before. It was sweet, and delicious.... And that's when it occurred to me... Mix it all up. And yes, that was the secret to the plate. Instructions should come with this plate. Sooo dang good! And I never touched my hot sauce! I really enjoyed breaking up the patties into bits and doing the same with the egg, and then mixing the rice. And the dish actually comes with a little salsa container with a sweet relish--and it's definitely meant to be mixed in as well. I think the chicken patties had some nuts in them. I'm not sure, so maybe careful with nut allergies--maybe ask first. I'm guessing they would warn if there was an allergen in their food, but it was delicious and I'm not allergic to nuts so I'm not worried about it, but maybe you are so double check. Egg was cooked to perfection. I wasn't even asked how I wanted it. Maybe they should ask, but they didn't need to with me. Such a chill little spot on Reseda blvd. I saw about 3 other people in there all on their laptops. I was the loudest guy there--praising the cook, and the business. Very reasonably priced. Plenty of seating. Son was cook, his sister was backup & support. Little bro made a quick appearance said hi to big bro as he worked. Bro acknowledged his little sibling lovingly. I have been to cafes all over--San Francisco, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Vegas, New York, Korea, Colombia... and this one was as good as they get. 5 stars. read more

Great first experience! Went here with my friend, a cute and not-too-busy (when I went around 11 AM) spot. Kian helped us out and took us through the recommendations, super helpful!! I got the dirty Ube latte 2.0 (with ube cold foam) and my friend got the Abuela latte with oat milk. Normally I don't trust all places with Ube, but this one did a great job! I was worried it would stain my teeth purple, but I drank it carefully. Super sweet and yummy and would get again if I'm craving a sweet tooth Ube drink with a little espresso. Decided to visit Cafe Aficionado and today my girlfriend and I stopped in for breakfast. The owner, Abigail, and her team offer up some amazing hospitality and quality ingredients, including some Filipino-inspired breakfast items. On this visit, however, there was a problem with their rice, so that breakfast item wasn't available. One of the chefs, Kean, however, was so wonderfully nice and offered to give us a sample of their homemade Chicken Longanisa patties and wow, they were phenomenal! They apologized for the inconvenience, but based on that sample alone, we'll be back. On this visit, we did decide to try the Sean Burrito ($15.95) which is homemade with hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage (or the half and half option which we opted for), cheddar cheese on a cheese encrusted tortilla. The portion was pretty large and served up fresh and hot. Great crust on the outside with the crispy cheese, with the inside hash browns, eggs and cheese titillating my tastebuds with some amazing flavors. Add on some of the accommodating hot sauces for an added kick of flavor. Overall, the hospitality is top-tier and the quality of the food and drinks superb. There are a few dedicated parking spots behind the building for parking, as well as some within a short walk in this residential part of Northridge. Will definitely be back to try the full Longsilog breakfast plate once everything is up and running again. I took my boyfriend to try their new inspired Filipino dishes, and we were so impressed! We had the Longsilog (sweet and savory housemade seared chicken longanisa patties served with a sunny side egg, furikake garlic rice, and a side of atchara) and the Spamsilog, featuring crispy pan-fried Spam with all the same delicious sides. Really cute and good coffee/breakfast place that is Filipino-family owned and very welcoming, siempre. They have a limited breakfast menu but good pastries and rice dishes. The Tapsilog was good but the tapas was slightly salty so I added lots of the spiced vinegar. Only one fried egg came with my combo. Next time I'll get a 2nd egg. The lattes are good! This time I had the Abuelita (hot) latte and oh so good with a good balance of coffee and cinnamon goodness. My dad wanted decaf but they don't have that option. So in my journey to try as many new coffee shops this year continues, I came across this small coffee shop on Yelp with good ratings. I said sure why not since it was by my neck of the woods, walking in I already felt the vibe that yes this is a coffee shop, like not a Starbucks vibe of bland flavor and run of the mill drinks. Everything about my first visit to Cafe Aficionado was absolutely excellent! The two gentlemen working were so kind and provided great service. I ordered the Campfire Latte (s'mores flavored) and the Avocado Toast and it was the perfect breakfast. Is the avocado toast something I could make at home? Probably. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed it as it was yummy and satisfying; the avocado was very flavorful and the hot honey was a great complement to the meal overall. I expected the Campfire Latte to be too sweet and I was honestly worried about it after putting my order in, but it was so perfectly balanced. The espresso definitely came through and wasn't overpowered by the chocolate flavor at all. My partner got the Nutella Stuffed French Toast and the Pumpkin Chai Cream Cheese Latte which were also delicious. It's a very cozy and cutely decorated space and could be great for studying as I did see a couple of outlets. I will definitely be back to explore their menu a little more. read more

I love this place!!! This is my first time here with my friend. We wanted a spot to study but also somewhere that has breakfast foods (I got the breakfast croissant with scrambled eggs and bacon, which was really good mind you). They crisped up the edges of the cheese, bacon and eggs so well). They have the perfect playlist for a place like this. On top of all of that the coffee is amazing!!! The Stuffed French Toast was delicious. 10/10 would recommend. The Sean Burrito was good. My husband says he would get all bacon next time because their bacon is good. I really enjoyed my 5 Layer Avocado toast. I also got a Nutella Latte that was pretty good. Its pretty cool that they coat the whole cup with nutella. I like that they have non-dairy alternatives. This is still one of our absolute favorite coffee shops to go to. The quality is always top tier and made with love. We've been coming here for years now and the drinks are always changing to introduce new ones and they never disappoint! My go to as of late has been their iced cookie butter latte. They do an incredible job and the espresso is strong but still have the sweetness and flavor of the cookie butter lined around the cup. Today we dropped by to try some of their new Spring Seasonal drinks and mainly because one of them is a collab with my cousin, IG: Leonardough's, inspired by his fantastic baked goods! We ordered the "Jon's Blueberry Maple Bar Latte" which was a nice, strong latte but the blueberry flavor pushed through perfectly! Great balance. This one is the drink inspired by my cousin's bakery, and the main drink we came for but I also wanted to try the Beignet Latte since it was one of the other unique drinks on the menu. So hard to choose but I just might like the blueberry one more because it was a solid drink! The beignet one has honey that just sinks to the bottom and mixing it is a bit tough because it gets stuck to the straw no matter what and you end up getting chunks of honey for every sip. Not that it's a bad thing! It was still delicious but hard to beat the blueberry drink. The baristas today were both very sweet and friendly and got the drinks out really quick! It was another busy day for this coffee shop and I somehow managed to go too early and missed out on their smash burger pop up. Plenty of seating throughout the cafe which makes it perfect for hanging out with friends. It always smells amazing in here because they also have their own breakfast food that we need to try again. What can be said about this often overlooked gem of a small business on a big street? Located on Reseda Blvd, nearest 2 other coffee shops (Yellowhouse and Starbucks)- this small store stands out for its large community impact. When I first came to Cafe Aficionado, it was before Covid and actually met the owners, Abby & Reggie, who were working the bar. The drinks at that time were good, but not standout. Then, Covid hit. These owners promoted other small businesses, they held pop-ups for local vendors, they engaged in their community and became pillars of community involvement. Recently, they helped with a back to school giveaway, because of course they would- how else can this shop be more caring??? So, after a few years wait, I finally stopped in again. Uhm- excuse you, what business did you have improving the drink quality? MY DRINK WAS FIRE! Its as if they purposefully spent time improving their craft because I don't remember it being this good. I got the iced matcha tea latte with organic oat milk (surprising to see a cost of an additional $1.04 to substitute it) for about a 16 oz sized cup. The matcha was just alright to me, so I'd have to give it a 6/10. The bright side about the milk cost is that it seems like it was pretty much 99% of the drink because when it was served to me, it barely had a tinge of green and looked like a milk drink. The taste was also alright. The spot is not bad for hanging out or studying. I was able to find a wall outlet on the side. When staff is doing dishes, though, I recommend wearing earphones because the clacking of the plates and utensils is quite loud. The spot is nice and feels good for the local community. Their savory items are very delicious and smells very good as they make them! I have yet to try their coffee yet but their menu is pretty vast as their menu pages are laid out on the front counter taking up several different pages.
