We were in the area and decided to give this spot a try, and I'm so glad we did! Everything was delicious, and we especially loved the food and coffee. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area!

Always love coming here! The staff are always so friendly and welcoming and willing to answer questions and provide recommendations. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibes inside are so cozy and they're really spot on with their Filipino culture inspiration![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The coffee is sweet and creamy and they have a wide array of options. They also gave a nice selection of Filipino breakfast foods and other food as well! Definitely recommend giving them a try and I really enjoyed their Tiramisu latte and the strawberry matcha was really good too!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]A lovely interior and lots of space[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], prices were steep for the drinks but that's to be expected with local coffee spots, the service was fast but I wasn't too fond of the coffee. I thought the espresso tasted a bit burnt and the syrup was kinda overpowering, regardless, I'm always happy to try out and support a local small valley business!

I don't know how this place has such high reviews, it was the worst place I've ever ordered food at. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Right when you walk in it is so smokey in there and it smells like something is burning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].. I waited 45+ minutes for 2 matcha lattes, a french toast, and 1 other sandwich. Everything is on the expensive side compared to other cafes nearby. The french toast was still undercooked even though it took this long. The bacon in the sandwich was so burnt. The matcha tasted like seaweed--yes literally seaweed! I've never experienced that before. I will include pictures of the poor color it had, I wish I could give this place zero stars. Please save yourself the time, money, and expectations and eat somewhere else.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a cute little spot. Ambiance & service were good.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a Dirty Ube Latte which was tasty. We had the beef tapa plate & Nutella French Toast. The beef was a little bland but the garlic rice was good. They were out of crepes that day which is why we had the French Toast. French Toast was good.

The service was fantastic, there were two guys making the drink and they were very friendly and made me feel welcomed at the shop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was also very nice, lots a people were there working or studying on their laptops.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service and ambiance were top notch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is also a small parking lot on the side when you turn into the alley. I ordered an iced matcha latte. Unfortunately the latte was not good, perhaps they should consider taking it off their menu if the quality is not up to par. The latte was so so bitter, it tasted like they put too much of the non-ceremonial matcha from Costco. I did drink most of it but when I got to almost the bottom I couldn't finish it, it was chalky and the matcha was not dissolved properly. I could tell it wasn't going to be good as soon as I saw the color. My drink with oatmilk and tip came out to $9. Now a days, it's not an outrageous price for a good coffee shop drink but it is when the quality is not there. Overall I'm giving it 4 stars because again, the ambiance and service were great and all their other menu items look quite delicious.

You'll never come across another cafe like theirs! They have the most welcoming staff and owners, their coffee taste like COFFEE not just sugar like some places, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the place just makes you feel like home![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They host so many events there weekly and it's such a vibe! This small business LOVES to support their community any way possible and that's what it's all about!!

Parking: small lot in the back. Ordered a dirty ube latte and some treats here on Valentine's Day and was so pleasantly surprised because they gave their customers a Valentine's Day bag! The Ube latte was really good and they offer real Filipino food here (rice plates).

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a chill little breakfast nook / cafe. This place is a FIVE STAR, LOCAL FAMILY-OWNED, HIDDEN GEM[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I was getting something installed on my car across the street and had to wait, so I decided to check this place out. I didn't know what I wanted to eat, but I thought I was in the mood for a late breakfast. I didn't want to read the menu for too long because I always end up getting the same things--usually breakfast sandwiches or eggs Benedict or something like that. I kinda just picked something on the menu. I read a few things that it had and it didn't sound bad so I ordered it. It was a plate with 1 fried egg, some rice, and 3 chicken patties. I can't find the name on the menu photos, but it was something like "Longhasa plate" or something like that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I waited for my plate, I noticed how nice, tranquil, quiet and relaxing this establishment was.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also noticed how young the gentleman that took my order and prepared my plate with total care and attention seemed to be. And yet, he was cooking my eggs and patties with full focus, full transparency, and total professionalism--just a few feet from me. I didn't order any coffee because I already had my travel mug. So here's the funny story: The gentleman hands me my meal, and honestly it didn't look bad, I just wasn't sure why I had ordered a plate with rice. I felt like I maybe should've taken more time to read what I was ordering... but it was a little too late. I got up and walked over to the hot sauces and grabbed one that looked good, because I like hot sauce and initially thought I'd like some. So I try the egg. It was actually cooked perfectly and I didn't even tell him how I like my yolk (cooked but still runny). Then I try a tiny piece of patty--and at first I was caught off guard because this wasn't anything I had ever eaten before. It was sweet, and delicious.... And that's when it occurred to me... Mix it all up. And yes, that was the secret to the plate. Instructions should come with this plate. Sooo dang good! And I never touched my hot sauce! I really enjoyed breaking up the patties into bits and doing the same with the egg, and then mixing the rice. And the dish actually comes with a little salsa container with a sweet relish--and it's definitely meant to be mixed in as well. I think the chicken patties had some nuts in them. I'm not sure, so maybe careful with nut allergies--maybe ask first. I'm guessing they would warn if there was an allergen in their food, but it was delicious and I'm not allergic to nuts so I'm not worried about it, but maybe you are so double check. Egg was cooked to perfection. I wasn't even asked how I wanted it. Maybe they should ask, but they didn't need to with me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Such a chill little spot on Reseda blvd. I saw about 3 other people in there all on their laptops. I was the loudest guy there--praising the cook, and the business[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Very reasonably priced. Plenty of seating. Son was cook, his sister was backup & support. Little bro made a quick appearance said hi to big bro as he worked. Bro acknowledged his little sibling lovingly. I have been to cafes all over--San Francisco, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Vegas, New York, Korea, Colombia... and this one was as good as they get. 5 stars.

Dirty Ube latte 2.0 and abuela latte super delicious
    Bella S.

Great first experience! Went here with my friend, a cute and not-too-busy (when I went around 11 AM) spot. Kian helped us out and took us through the recommendations, super helpful!! I got the dirty Ube latte 2.0 (with ube cold foam) and my friend got the Abuela latte with oat milk. Normally I don't trust all places with Ube, but this one did a great job! I was worried it would stain my teeth purple, but I drank it carefully. Super sweet and yummy and would get again if I'm craving a sweet tooth Ube drink with a little espresso. The abuela latte was suuupper good too. A perfect balance of sweet and coffee. I would get that again. Great experience

Sean Burrito with Bacon and Sausage (half and half).

Decided to visit Cafe Aficionado and today my girlfriend and I stopped in for breakfast. The owner, Abigail, and her team offer up some amazing hospitality and quality ingredients, including some Filipino-inspired breakfast items. On this visit, however, there was a problem with their rice, so that breakfast item wasn't available. One of the chefs, Kean, however, was so wonderfully nice and offered to give us a sample of their homemade Chicken Longanisa patties and wow, they were phenomenal! They apologized for the inconvenience, but based on that sample alone, we'll be back. On this visit, we did decide to try the Sean Burrito ($15.95) which is homemade with hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage (or the half and half option which we opted for), cheddar cheese on a cheese encrusted tortilla. The portion was pretty large and served up fresh and hot. Great crust on the outside with the crispy cheese, with the inside hash browns, eggs and cheese titillating my tastebuds with some amazing flavors. Add on some of the accommodating hot sauces for an added kick of flavor. Overall, the hospitality is top-tier and the quality of the food and drinks superb. There are a few dedicated parking spots behind the building for parking, as well as some within a short walk in this residential part of Northridge. Will definitely be back to try the full Longsilog breakfast plate once everything is up and running again. Check out Cafe Aficionado for a feel-good, family owned business with great food and drink options that are authentic to Filipino culture.

    Longsilog and Spamsilog
    Brianna V.

Café Aficionado is such a gem! The atmosphere is super welcoming, and the customer service is amazing the staff truly goes above and beyond, making you feel like family. I took my boyfriend to try their new inspired Filipino dishes, and we were so impressed! We had the Longsilog (sweet and savory housemade seared chicken longanisa patties served with a sunny side egg, furikake garlic rice, and a side of atchara) and the Spamsilog, featuring crispy pan-fried Spam with all the same delicious sides. Everything was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. And you have to get the ube latte on the side it's the perfect sweet, creamy touch to round out the meal. Absolutely loved it here and can't wait to come back!

Came back here with my friend because the last time I got the Sean Burrito it was fantastic - but unfortunately when we came in today, that wasn't our experience. There was a sort of event going on today so I can't really complain about how it took 25-30 minutes to receive our food (the last time it was very quick). We were excited to take our first bites but instantly we were confused. It tasted nothing like it did the first time I got it - and we found out why. The burrito was overwhelmed with too much garlic. We actually had to pick out chunks of the cloves out of the burrito. I get that there was an event and it was a busy day, but it's just unfortunate that a burrito that costs $20 after taxes can be this disappointing. However, I'm rating higher because it was great the last time and the workers are very nice.

Ask the Community - Cafe Aficionado

Are you able to refill an outside reusable cup with a coffee order?

Maybe! Doesn't hurt to ask and I don't see the problem with it. Better than wasting plastic cups :)

I saw a picture with board games, are those still available to store customers?

Yes we still have the games. And they are available for customers. We’re looking forward to seeing you soon!!

Is the cafe open on Saturdays or is it only open for specific pickups? I stopped by last Saturday at 9am, door was closed. Stayed in my car until 9:10am, Still was closed.

They are open on Saturday's. They sometimes open a bit late though. Try parking & going in the back.

    Do they have oat milk?

Yes, Cafe Aficionado has Oat Milk. I believe they replaced their coconut milk substitute they used to carry with Oat Milk, based on demand. Definitely recommend! 👍🏻

    Are there plenty of outlets?

There are three available in the front of the store. Two of which have built in USB connection. Two outlets in the middle area & two in the back. Of the two in the back, One has built in USB connections and the other has a power strip connected. So…

We didn't have reservations so we had the option of sitting at the bar or following the waitress to a back room area instead of the front room that is visible to everyone. My son is a minor, so to the back we went! Seriously, the closer we got to the back room the more I felt I had been cast in "The Chef." Scary! Lol! The back room is black. Blackout black! Black tablecloths, walls, chairs, dark, low light. Very luxurious and open space. Which - because it wasn't full at the time - felt a bit like being in the film, The Menu." A bit too upscale and empty to feel comfortable. More guests arrived later, a large table, so that was more comforting. The food: Recommended *Kara Kara Tamales: braised oxtail with a peanut butter sauce. Wow! The taste was wonderful! Hard to explain but Filipino/African food meets Latin food. It was on the "shared plate" menu, which to me means it will be a lot. But the 2 tamales were not very big. Still, they were so rich that the 2 really were sufficient to share. Quite filling. I couldn't get enough of the sauce! *Crab fried rice: Very tasty and generous portion. Plenty share! Not recommended: The street eats menu. Now, this is what pulled us in - the sights and smells of the food being grilled outside the restaurant. Most of which was on this meme. Like a tasting menu. But for price to portion ratio, it simply isn't worth it. I ordered the skirt steak. 4 oz, cut in half. Cooked down to what looked like .5 oz! Each on a toothpick sitting in a paper plate (or maybe it was cupcake holder?) IDK. I just know it wasn't a good presentation and the taste wasn't memorable. Regular. More grill smell than taste. Not at all worth $8. Service: Really nice. And mostly good. Though they did fail short by (1) Using only small appetizer size plates and (2) Not bringing a fresh plate to eat the crab fried rice on after the peanut butter sauce laced tamale appetizer was eaten. The server brought the fried rice, but didn't bother to give us fresh plates (nor silverware). My son was mortified when I grabbed a plate from one of the empty tables! (Teenager energy on full effect). But after initial attentive service, the variety of different servers whizzing by didn't stop to ask if we needed anything. And I sat waiting at least 8 minutes staring at the rice. I assured my young man that the servers would be fine with me getting another plate to save them from having to. And once I did, he suddenly started eating from my plate of my peanut butter free fried rice. And of course, when a server did attend to us and I let her know, she was glad I took matters into my own hands instead of not eating for 15 minutes. Thoughts: Go for dinner, and order from the full dinner menu, skip the skimpy street eats menu. With reservations you can sit in the main restaurant area that has some view to the outdoors. Without it - back to the black room you go! Know that it will be expensive. And it will be original. Not sure I'll go back. It's very "special occasion" upscale dining. But If I do it'll be with reservations. The meal was memorable and worth experiencing.

My wife and I stopped here a few weekends back for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised with just how much I enjoyed the food. The ambiance here is pretty generic, white and bright and very copy and paste of a lot of places popping up recently. The staff was super friendly while taking our orders and dropping the food off, which is always appreciated. I ended up ordering the Santo's Turkey Melt which is smoked turkey, grilled onions, Swiss cheese, and chipotle aioli served on sourdough with a side of french fries. The sandwich was really good and the same can be said for the french fries and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of fries given, so thumbs up to that. I forgot what the food costs so I visited the website and for some reason they don't think it's important to put that online, which is pretty darn stupid if you ask me. Overall, I didn't have a bad experience at Sandcouch Cafe and I would visit again in the future thanks to it's convenient location. The food was solid and the staff was friendly, and that's really all I need when ordering a sandwich.

It's conveniently located to the LA Convention Center, Crytpo.com arena, and LA Live which makes it a must visit before or after an event! I am obsessed with their happy hour, which offers healthy items at discounted prices with generous portions! I have been here so many times throughout the years but most recently found myself here during a busy World Cup match! Regardless, the service and quality of food was not sacrificed! I was greeted as soon as I got there and the bartenders were overwhelmed but still friendly and helpful. I was so tempted to get a margarita, since theirs are amazing, but decided to keep it dry and just get their vegan nachos. I was able to score a table outside on their lovely patio, which felt secluded enough from the main street. My food was brought out quicker than I thought and I was delighted, as I was famished! The vegan nachos here are fantastic and the happy price is only $10, which is a steal for what you get! They are costed in the most magical concoction of a bean puree, cashew cheese sauce, and guacamole which all have the most creamy, luscious and savory flavors. It's so hearty and well seasoned and not only filling, but you feel great after. Parking is pretty easy, as there are usually ample meters available nearby. I cannot wait to return again soon the next time I'm in Downtown LA! I am hoping to try more of their vegan options and next time I will for sure get a drink to go along with their delicious food!

I ordered the Espresso Martini, and it tasted pretty watered down and lacked the bold coffee flavor I was hoping for. On the bright side, the food was definitely the highlight. Overall, I'd come back for the food, but I'd probably steer clear from cocktails and order a real drink. To be honest, I was already biased because his Smorgasburg pop-ups were consistently good. But Distrito Catorce is different , it's like art. My favorite dish was the tacos de papa with salsa macha. The crunch of the potato taco riding into the salsa macha and crema felt like home, but with some extra pop. His salsa game is on point. The scallion salsa on the ribeye taco was also gas. Lastly, I really dug the tostadita de atún. It hit perfectly on these hot summer days. Low-key, I still want to try the El Rey de Noche. Tacos de beef trompo are starting to hit LA, and dude was ahead of the curve making picanha-brisket tacos de trompo. Service is smooth too. The servers are helpful, and solid at the bar. After looking around the museum and enjoying the artwork, I went to Manuela, the restaurant inside the museum, on October 3, 2021, and again on October 9, 2021. One time, I went with just one close friend, and the other time, I went with a group of seven friends. On October 3, we made a reservation in advance and had brunch there. On October 9, we all went to the museum together, but since we hadn't made a reservation, we weren't able to eat there that day. I remember the atmosphere being really nice, and I remember that everything we ordered was delicious. All of the staff were also very friendly, and I remember the prices being quite reasonable. My friend and I, of course, split the bill evenly. Since it was five years ago, I obviously don't remember the exact prices in detail, but I do remember feeling that the food was reasonably priced. The only downside was the valet parking, which I remember being around $20. Other than the parking fee, I really liked the place overall and had a very good experience there.
