Friendly staff and great drinks, but if you come for food expect a wait on a Saturday. Our drinks came out very quick, but a party before us waited 40 mins for their food and we figured we shouldn't be too far off, about an hour in we noticed people after us received their order before us. When i asked about my order i guess another person misheard their name and accidentally took my order (which happens) but after letting them know other people's orders were still sent out and similar to our order which was a beef tapa plate and Sean's burrito. An hour and 15 mins in I had to go up and ask for a refund because we had to go and I was told they just started my order and I saw the order on the end of the line. Visited last Sunday with my dad to get breakfast, and the food & drink options were great We ordered the breakfast croissant, longanisa, 2 dirty ube lattes, and a beef tapa to go. The staff were friendly, and I loved that they had community vendors propped up at the time we visited. I was pretty disappointed with our experience. We came for lunch, but they had stopped accepting orders because they were so backed up. It was frustrating to make the trip only to be turned away during the middle of the lunch rush. It also seemed like they were understaffed, which made the situation even more disappointing. Now a days, it's not an outrageous price for a good coffee shop drink but it is when the quality is not there. I didn't know what I wanted to eat, but I thought I was in the mood for a late breakfast. I didn't want to read the menu for too long because I always end up getting the same things--usually breakfast sandwiches or eggs Benedict or something like that. I kinda just picked something on the menu. I read a few things that it had and it didn't sound bad so I ordered it. It was a plate with 1 fried egg, some rice, and 3 chicken patties. I can't find the name on the menu photos, but it was something like "Longhasa plate" or something like that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As I waited for my plate, I noticed how nice, tranquil, quiet and relaxing this establishment was.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also noticed how young the gentleman that took my order and prepared my plate with total care and attention seemed to be. And yet, he was cooking my eggs and patties with full focus, full transparency, and total professionalism--just a few feet from me. I didn't order any coffee because I already had my travel mug. So here's the funny story: The gentleman hands me my meal, and honestly it didn't look bad, I just wasn't sure why I had ordered a plate with rice. I felt like I maybe should've taken more time to read what I was ordering... but it was a little too late. I got up and walked over to the hot sauces and grabbed one that looked good, because I like hot sauce and initially thought I'd like some. So I try the egg. It was actually cooked perfectly and I didn't even tell him how I like my yolk (cooked but still runny). Then I try a tiny piece of patty--and at first I was caught off guard because this wasn't anything I had ever eaten before. It was sweet, and delicious.... And that's when it occurred to me... Mix it all up. And yes, that was the secret to the plate. Instructions should come with this plate. Sooo dang good! And I never touched my hot sauce! I really enjoyed breaking up the patties into bits and doing the same with the egg, and then mixing the rice. And the dish actually comes with a little salsa container with a sweet relish--and it's definitely meant to be mixed in as well. I think the chicken patties had some nuts in them. I'm not sure, so maybe careful with nut allergies--maybe ask first. I'm guessing they would warn if there was an allergen in their food, but it was delicious and I'm not allergic to nuts so I'm not worried about it, but maybe you are so double check. The food itself actually pretty decent, so I'll give them credit for that, but the portions were definitely smaller than I expected and felt below standard for what you're paying. The drinks were easily the biggest disappointment. I ordered the strawberry matcha and could barely taste either strawberry or matcha. It honestly tasted mostly watered down, with maybe a little strawberry flavor at the beginning, but basically no matcha at all. The other drinks we ordered weren't much better either. Someone got an ube coffee drink, and you couldn't really taste the ube. It mostly just tasted like regular coffee. Customer service was decent, and again, the food tasted good, but between the small portions and really disappointing drinks, I don't think I'd come back. I got the dirty Ube latte 2.0 (with ube cold foam) and my friend got the Abuela latte with oat milk. Normally I don't trust all places with Ube, but this one did a great job! Decided to visit Cafe Aficionado and today my girlfriend and I stopped in for breakfast. The owner, Abigail, and her team offer up some amazing hospitality and quality ingredients, including some Filipino-inspired breakfast items. On this visit, however, there was a problem with their rice, so that breakfast item wasn't available. One of the chefs, Kean, however, was so wonderfully nice and offered to give us a sample of their homemade Chicken Longanisa patties and wow, they were phenomenal! They apologized for the inconvenience, but based on that sample alone, we'll be back. On this visit, we did decide to try the Sean Burrito ($15.95) which is homemade with hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage (or the half and half option which we opted for), cheddar cheese on a cheese encrusted tortilla. The portion was pretty large and served up fresh and hot. Great crust on the outside with the crispy cheese, with the inside hash browns, eggs and cheese titillating my tastebuds with some amazing flavors. Add on some of the accommodating hot sauces for an added kick of flavor. Overall, the hospitality is top-tier and the quality of the food and drinks superb. There are a few dedicated parking spots behind the building for parking, as well as some within a short walk in this residential part of Northridge. Will definitely be back to try the full Longsilog breakfast plate once everything is up and running again. We actually had to pick out chunks of the cloves out of the burrito. Drinks: I ordered the Caramel Pecan latte and really enjoyed it, it wasn't too sweet, just the way I like it. My husband got the Tiramisu latte and said it was on the lighter side, so if you prefer a stronger coffee flavor, keep that in mind. Food: I had the Tapsilog, and the flavor was good. My only complaint is the serving of rice was on the smaller side, and if you're Filipino, you know rice is life. Could definitely use a bit more. I visited this place a while back after driving past it many times and finally deciding to give it a try. I arrived about 35 minutes before their posted closing time of 3:00 p.m. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was an inconvenience rather than a welcomed customer. The woman I believe was the owner had her child behind the counter, and when I ordered a burrito, she appeared visibly annoyed. It seemed like the grill had already been cleaned and they were ready to close, but the restaurant was still open during its posted business hours. The interaction made me feel so uncomfortable that I considered asking for a refund and leaving. Everything about my first visit to Cafe Aficionado was absolutely excellent! The two gentlemen working were so kind and provided great service. I ordered the Campfire Latte (s'mores flavored) and the Avocado Toast and it was the perfect breakfast. Is the avocado toast something I could make at home? Probably. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed it as it was yummy and satisfying; the avocado was very flavorful and the hot honey was a great complement to the meal overall. I expected the Campfire Latte to be too sweet and I was honestly worried about it after putting my order in, but it was so perfectly balanced. The espresso definitely came through and wasn't overpowered by the chocolate flavor at all. My partner got the Nutella Stuffed French Toast and the Pumpkin Chai Cream Cheese Latte which were also delicious. This is still one of our absolute favorite coffee shops to go to. The quality is always top tier and made with love. We've been coming here for years now and the drinks are always changing to introduce new ones and they never disappoint! My go to as of late has been their iced cookie butter latte. They do an incredible job and the espresso is strong but still have the sweetness and flavor of the cookie butter lined around the cup. Today we dropped by to try some of their new Spring Seasonal drinks and mainly because one of them is a collab with my cousin, IG: Leonardough's, inspired by his fantastic baked goods! We ordered the "Jon's Blueberry Maple Bar Latte" which was a nice, strong latte but the blueberry flavor pushed through perfectly! Great balance. This one is the drink inspired by my cousin's bakery, and the main drink we came for but I also wanted to try the Beignet Latte since it was one of the other unique drinks on the menu. So hard to choose but I just might like the blueberry one more because it was a solid drink! The beignet one has honey that just sinks to the bottom and mixing it is a bit tough because it gets stuck to the straw no matter what and you end up getting chunks of honey for every sip. Not that it's a bad thing! It was still delicious but hard to beat the blueberry drink. The baristas today were both very sweet and friendly and got the drinks out really quick! It was another busy day for this coffee shop and I somehow managed to go too early and missed out on their smash burger pop up. I didn't see any cheese or taste any egg, and the garlic rice was really dry. For that much I was there was more in it to be honest, or maybe even a sauce for it. We came in 40 min before closing and it wasn't busy which we tried to give the benefit of the doubt that they were about to close soon but we're both baristas at different cafes that close later hours so the lack of customer service shouldn't be an issue no matter the time of day it is. The drinks were mid but it's not worth the service you get with it tbh. There were also no straws around and had to wait a little for them to find it but we just left without the straws. I don't ever write reviews bc idc about customer service like that and we understand how it feels but that's just not a good impression for first time customers read more
