Ordered the Veggie Breakfast Burrito without spinach and it was delicious, right up until bite four when I hit a piece of egg shell. And just like that, the burrito lost me. To be clear, the three stars aren't about the taste, the flavor was solid. But crunching through egg shell is one of those things that's hard to shake off and the enjoyment kind of evaporates after that. I get that mistakes happen. I have been to Flooky's before, but never tried their breakfast burrito, apparently their signature and most popular menu item. From past experience, the high carry out traffic and phone in orders, has always been present. So this time, I decided to order on line, for a pick up. My choice was the Flooky's Breakfast Burrito (scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon, ham, sausage and hash browns), with the free addition of jalapeños. During the ordering process, I selected the option to not add ham. There was no web opportunity to substitute. During the pick up sequence, I learned that when ham is taken out, the default substitution is bacon. Music to my ears. Complimentary salsa (nice, not too acidic), was included but not used. The raw jalapeños did the job. Immediately, I attacked one half of the burrito and was very surprised. The scrambled eggs were overcooked, there was a small amount of bacon and sausage, thus being unable to accentuate and infuse the flavor or taste. I liked the fact that there was minimal cheese (so not too much gooey). Furthermore, and as expected, what transpired was that the whole filling came out dry and all you tasted was the rubbery eggs. There was also a lack of salt. If they added sufficient bacon, it would have solved that problem. A disappointment. I have had their cheese burger and sausage breakfast plate in the past and they were commendable. What do you think happened this time? Food places think that when you serve scrambled eggs as a menu item, it is a home run. Quite the contrary. The perfect scrambled eggs are actually tricky to prepare. Precise attention and technique is required to produce soft, fluffy, silky and moist scrambled eggs. When that happens, the scrambled eggs alone, can take you to another place. read more

I stopped in on a Sunday morning to pick up a breakfast burrito for takeout. Brittney, the girl at the counter, was wonderful and helped us choose the right item, as the menu is quite extensive. I got the Frisco burger and onion rings. The Frisco is two patties with Swiss, lettuce and tomato, sub mustard for mayo on sourdough. The burger was juicy, cheese melted into the sourdough and seasoned like Mom would make, yum! The onion rings are enough for two, although I could have eaten them all. The batter is perfect, crispy and hot. Love myself a good onion ring. We also order the Texas burger ( cheese burger topped with pastrami) a hamburger and a cheeseburger with a couple orders of fries. The guy behind the counter was friendly, helped with some of what we ordered and our food came out piping hot. Just a good experience and great food. Flookys is a nice small restaurant that serves classic American food. I enjoyed the food options and variety. The staff was friendly, fast, and efficient. The restaurant provides generous portions for an affordable price. I got a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. The steak had great flavor and the sandwich was on nice quality bread. My only issue was that the bread size was too large in my opinion to the amount of meat provided. The bread overtook the entire sandwich and that is not my ideal Philly cheesesteak. My combination plate of grilled ham slices with French toast and scrambled eggs proved too much for one sitting, so I took half home and had another meal out of it the next day. Not bad for around $11. DH enjoyed his breakfast burrito. My understanding is that they are famous for those, and you can pick which kind of breakfast meat(s) you want inside. Located in Northridge is this place that doesn't specialize in anything specific but has a wide range of menu options and delivers. You come here when you don't know if you want a burger, a burrito , a breakfast platter , or something different. This place has it all. The service is excellent with the people at the register giving you good options . The ambiance is very quiet and peaceful. They got a TV towards the back but it's loud enough to where you can hear it but not loud enough to enjoy a good conversation. They also have ample breakfast options - the French toast plate is intriguing, maybe next time.
