One bad experience amongst many positive. I normally go to the Buena Park location but I was in the area and wanted the leChon sandwich. The space is very large with lots of seating but the service received what honestly the worst I have ever experienced at a Porto's. For starters they "lost my order" so I was waiting for about 40 min which isn't too bad but it's a Tuesday afternoon and was not very busy. I was in like for about 5 min. Then when it does get here it's not what I ordered (I ordered the Lechon sandwich and they gave me a lechon plate) And when the server brought it over and I said it was incorrect we looked at my receipt where it said leChon but underneath said plate. The way the POS was set up was someone took my order and someone else rang it up and there was no way for me to read the order in full. The tablet didn't display anything until it prompted payment. But since my receipt matched what they brought there wasn't really any solution they were offering me. Didn't help that the guy who took my order interrupted me because they have a "new ordering system" where you order the pastries first then food then drinks. I ordered my pastry first then directly started the meal portion where he interrupted me to tell me this. Which is where I think the "miscommunication" happened. On a separate but less important note I asked for extra pickled onion -- it was a 50 cent up charge which I don't mind paying but when I asked to add it no one mentioned that there was an up charge. To my knowledge it didn't say it anywhere on the menu (but to be honestly I totally could have missed it) regardless it's just another thing to add to the frustration of the experience. The plate is already $2 more than the sandwich and on top of that to get an up charge is upsetting. The food was good but I am disappointed in the lack of initiative when a guest is clearly unhappy after receiving something else than they were expecting after waiting.

Porto's is always packed, always busy and somehow still always worth it. The Cubano sandwich has been my go to for years!! Flavorful, perfectly pressed, and consistently good every single time. On this visit, I had the Medianoche. It's very similar to the Cubano but served on a softer, slightly sweet bread. Really good but the Cubano still wins for me. The potato balls are non negotiable. I genuinely can't leave without at least a dozen, they are THAT good!! I also ordered their Matcha Green Tea Latte with oat milk and it was perfect! Smooth, refreshing and not overly sweet. Anyway, the food is consistently delicious and it's one of those places that always keeps you coming back. 10/10 highly recommend!

Jasmine Matcha Latte I did adjust the filter , so the color profile for the beverage is not accurate, but the photo is so beautiful.

Went on Mother's Day with my daughter. The line was wrapped around the building at 9am, and we debated whether or not to go to a different breakfast place closer to Flyaway. My daughter asked and it was a 15 minute wait. The line went really fast. What an incredible business model this place has!! They have stations everywhere for different things. The sheer volume of people they serve with such grace and ease. All the staff are extremely friendly. The architectural design is quite beautiful, as well as the outdoor dining area. It was such a lovely way to spend the morning. I had the Torrejas - Cuban French Toast......Ohhhhh myyyy, that was seriously the best French toast I've ever had. What was so super cool about it is that the flavor profile was actually a combination of almond croissant, fruit tart and their guava sauce, all bundled in a crispy outside- but soft textured inside bite that is heavenly. Highly recommend. It's so funny, cause I literally was jonsing for the almond croissant and the fruit tart, and I ended up having it anyway inside the breakfast. They use croissant bread which takes it to another level... the fruit is really fresh. This plate can actually be shared with 2 Ppl. I actually filled up after one slice. I had fresh squeezed orange juice, it was fantastic. My daughter had the Blue Jasmin Matcha Latte, she was swayed by the color profile. and she had them make it half as sweet, but she couldn't taste the Jasmine that way. We both had guava cheese rolls. They are spectacular. we had a slice of the opera cake, which is like a tiramisu cake topped with a coffee chocolate liqueur. So light and decadent.

I love Porto's! This location (as with the others) is big and well-kept, very clean--despite being very busy all the time. I've been here a couple times for their cubano sandwich, chicken torta, honey vanilla matcha latte, and chocolate chip cookies--and of course, to bring some pastries back with me all the way to Fresno. Such a solid spot and popular for a reason!

Who doesn't love Porto's. Of course I stopped by one of the busiest time of the year, Easter Sunday. But to help with everything, pre order earlier for a pickup instead of waiting in line. Pick up time was around 12:30 which the parking lot was pretty crazy already. There's plenty of spots as it next to the Northridge mall. But people were driving up and down trying to find the closest spot. When we arrived, you could already tell the place was packed with the amount of cars and people walking out. But to my surprise, there was no line around the outside. It normally wraps around the building during the holidays. Inside, that was a different story. It was pretty busy already with the line. But with pre order and pickup, there's a separate section towards the restroom. Give or take five or six people ahead of me in line for pickup but there was LOADS already waiting for their number to be called. You show them your confirmation number and then a number is given to you. From there you wait for your order to be packed. Even though it was packed, it took maybe five minutes for my order to be ready. They call your number and name and then you're on your way. But when we were leaving, you could see the line wrapping around the place already. We got here in the nick of time. It does move swiftly and there's alway someone at the door to give you directions in which line to go to. Also, there was a line even if you wanted a table for dining. Never seen that before. But it's Porto's, we all love it and it'll alway be busy but it won't stop us from picking up the amazing baked goods. Tip, pre order for pickup. It'll save you loads of time.

I've been hearing about this place forever. I actually tried a tiramisu cake before I ever actually came and it was amazing! My first time I tried to come on this last Mother's Day but unfortunately misunderstood the hours and couldn't go inside! Today, it was packed and the cases were FULL! I was absolutely so overwhelmed by all the choices! Everything was beautifully presented and smelled amazing! For how busy it was, and I'm talking every outside table taken, and at least 60-80 people just inside in line, they really got through it smoothly. No joke, I never have seen a bakery so busy but clearly with the size of the place, they planned on it. This place feels clean, and even with all the people it didn't feel stressed or rushed. I wish I didn't feel so personally overwhelmed by the incredibly large amount of choices and took more time to get more items! Next time I will definitely look and take note before I even go up to order! Every single thing I tried from the Ham + Cheese to the cheese roll, cinnamon roll, chicken empanadas and potato balls were exceptional! The fresh fruit tartlet- which I shared with my daughter was so good I half wished I got two! Definitely will be back again!! Next time I'm grabbing a coffee to go with it!

Still a five for me! I can rave about the service and the food but it would be repeating myself from the last review. What I will add is that I am happy to see that food is served on compostible plates and there are bins to separate trash from recycables from compostibles. If you are eating on site and you happen to be outside, there is a cart with extra plates, napkins and utensils so you don't have to go inside and ask someone behind the counter.

Tuna Melt (Seasonal menu) 5/04/26

2 stars ONLY because for the first time, they made my order wrong, I didn't notice it untiI got home because it was at the very bottom of the bag. I ordered 1 Tuna Melt, 2 Platos de Lechon and an extra side of black beans (which by the way I think was too pricey for a side $4.50 and it isn't even a decent portion). When I got home to eat it for lunch, that's when I saw that one of the Platos de Lechon is missing the black beans. Luckily I ordered extra on the side so I had something to eat otherwise I would have been really really really pissed of. But yes, I was disappointed because I love the beans which is why I had to order extra only to find out it isn't an extra beans anymore due to the fact that one of the Platos de Lechon was missi g the beans and that I had to pay extra just so I could eat that beans! I really hope that this will not happen again next time and staff should always double check and make sure they understood what their customers want and ordering. On the bright ride, I still did enjoy my food eventhough I didn't get to have extra beans. Oh and that Tuna Melt was so delicious too!! Ambience is the same. Its just really the missing beans that made me pissed off.

Menu, terrible picture I know, sorry

Had Porto's so many times, love it, but it has always been to go, never eaten inside. I don't think there is a bad thing on the menu, at least I have not found one. Main entrees, pastries, deserts, drinks, everything is amazing and justify the long lines. Lechon platos Cubano sandwich, potato balls, meat pies, empanadas, guava pastries, etc. just a few of my favorites. This location is really cool inside and out. The building style is modern and sleek outside, inside is very pretty and clean. It is always busy, tons of people and lines, but the lines go really fast, so don't be discouraged if you see lines out the door. Inside white tile floors and wall with warm wood accents and dark ceilings. Cuban art on the walls, dark black tile coffee bar as well. This place is huge, tons of seating inside and they have a massive outdoor patio as well. They also have a huge private lot to park in or can park on the side of the mall as well. Enjoy!

Porto's is a MUST STOP whenever I'm in SoCal. We usually do the mail order bake-at-home to Colorado but the coconut strudel isn't available mail order (please, please, please make that happen!) so I usually end up ordering a box (or 2) to take home and freeze. What I ordered this time around: *COCONUT STRUDEL: We love these. Perfectly flakey with sugar crystals on top. Like I said above, they are perfect for freezing and baking later. *GUAVA CHEESE STRUDEL: Always a fave. *SEAFOOD BALLS: I really liked these. Crispy edges with potato (?) and seafood filling. Very filling. Two was plenty for me. *MEAT EMPANADA: This was really tasty. Meat wasn't too salty and the perfect size with maybe a salad. *PINEAPPLE EMPANADA *SCONES: I also took these home to freeze. Reheated in the oven. These were so perfect with tea. *MANGO MOUSSE: Light, not too sweet. This was perfect. I can see a mango mousse cake in our future. *MATCHA STRAWBERRY: I am addicted to this. Creamy, strawberry-y. Sooo good. Porto always delivers the freshest baked goods. Never disappoints. AND PLEASE ADD THE COCONUT STRUDEL TO YOUR MAIL ORDER MENU!!!!

One of my favorite places in Los Angeles I love the pastries! The blueberry cheese croissant, the spinach empanada and the refugiado are just amazing... it has a nice terrace to talk and enjoy with family and friends and finally the service there is amazing, the employees there are very nice and they are always open to help . Jaime who is usually in the terrace is super friendly and talkative

Still the most tasty mega bakery around , every pastry is a hit of flavor, ordering pick up is the way to go as the make it so easy and inviting when you do online ordering. Always great service and friendly ambiance and never wait an unreasonable amount of time for my orders . This is definitely my favorite spot with the most parking as that's one of the biggest challenges when coming to Porto's but glad is so delicious and have great service that makes it worth it.

Everything at Porto's is SO good it never disappoints! Today I picked up a chocolate croissant, an almond croissant, and a dozen chocolate chip cookies. The croissants were perfectly flaky and buttery, and the chocolate was rich without being too sweet. The almond croissant had that amazing nutty flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. And the chocolate chip cookies are Soft, fresh, and completely addictive. Porto's is consistently great whether you're stopping in for pastries, drinks, or savory food. The quality and flavor are always on point. Definitely one of my goto spots!

Porto's Bakery and Cafe Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Porto's Bakery and Cafe

Do you Serve breakfast?

Porto's is a great place for breakfast!

Can I request mango to be on the fruit tarts for a special 100 year old birthday celebration?

Personally I would go in person!

Hi do you do custom made cookies if so whsts the price range?

No, Porto's does not make custom cookies.

What time do they start serving lunch?

Lunch starts at 10am...and just in case if anyone wants to know...last order to order breakfast is at 1030am.

Will pumpkin cheesecake slices be available soon?

You should just call the place to get the best, accurate answer.

What's the best selling sandwich at Portos?

Cuban sandwich, slow-roasted pork, sweet roasted ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and Cuban dressing (mustard, mayonnaise, and house seasonings).

Hi do you do custom cupcakes for baby shower?

Yes, they do.

Long line. Hurry up?

Yes lines are long, especially around lunchtime. Better luck to go around 3:00 before schools get out

Do they let dogs in the outdoor seating?

Yes, absolutely! They're pet friendly

Do you have any vegan cakes?

No Porto's doesn't have vegan cakes.

Will they ever bring back the original menu with all of the tasty danishes and cookies that they had prior to the COVID shutdown?? A lot of my favorites are not being offered :(

Your best bet is to just call them and ask.

How do I order King'd Bread!?

Call directly to place the order (818) 534-5210

Is there a time slot and day(s) when they have fewer people in line?

I had asked the cashier that exact question when I was there. The cashier's answer was when they first open at 6:30 am!

Can the bakers pipe inscriptions (ie., HAPPY BIRTHDAY) on any of the cakes?

They usually just give you a happy birthday sign to put on the cake. That was my experience but it never hurt to ask.

Is the catering menu back already? Smaller pieces and I think it used to be order of 50/100 pcs?

They recently told me I had to order the same size potato balls etc as sold in the bakery so I don't think the old catering menu with smaller pieces is back

Will Porto's be open on Labor Day? If so, what are the opening/closing hours?

They were open on Independence Day. The website says that they will be open till 630 - 430 ...holiday hours

How many people does the coffee cake serve?

Depends on how big you slice it, but you can get 8-10 pieces out of it.

How come I cannot order sandwiches?? It's not listed for pick up orders...?

Cannot place online orders for sandwiches or entrees at Buena Park location. Surprisingly, those items are available to order for delivery through UberEats. Just as surprisingly, UberEats won't let you order anything Pick-Up from Porto's.

Are there delivery services for pick up?

Portos no longer has in-car pick up. You can order pick up, but will need to go inside to the preorder counter.

Is there Wifi?

No there is not

Parking was easy to find, they have a lot and there are several surrounding free parking lots. The cafe inside was clean and well designed with several tables - by the time we got out drinks, a table had cleared up and we sat down. We ordered the matcha einspanner and the hojicha einspanner. The matcha was high quality, very rich and strong. The cream added a nice sweetness, but it wasn't overall sweet or bitter either. I love hojicha and always recommend it as an alternative to matcha or coffee at cafes. The hojicha here was chocolatey and smooth, absolutely amazing! They have a small and limited parking lot behind the coffee shop as well as some street parking open on Reseda and Dearborn. There's a Trader Joe's and Chili's across the street with more parking as well and I have parked behind Dave's Hot Chicken and the Habit and there is always space there. Ambiance: This coffee shop is quaint and feels a little cramped when you finally get inside and through the line. There is a counter top with some chairs as well as one couch and desk where one can study although, I personally never would. It's clean and bright with a minimalistic vibe inside. With it being cramped, you basically just get in, order, and get out. It's rare to find seating inside and it can feel overwhelming just sitting there trying to enjoy your drink with so many people around. Drinks: We've been there multiple times and you can always expect the same- mid, slightly overpriced, oh- getting some post purchase clarity. But it's the type of slightly regretful decision we continue to make every time. We've gotten the matcha einspanner on several occasions, vanilla iced latte, caramel latte, and the most disgusting Americano known to man. Whether you get the dark or light roast Americano, you will not run away from the burnt and bitter flavor. Service: The line moves quickly, they take your order and get you in and out without a long wait. They also offer stamp cards, buy 10 get the 11th free. What a steal! Gimme 10 more! Overall: All this to say, it's oddly grown to be a valley staple, and represents some bordering LA values- overpriced, overhyped, but for some reason addicting in the fact you always seem to go back. I would say 3.5 but it doesn't allow it, so I'm feeling generous today.

It's off Reseda and its parking lot is usually a hot spot among people. There is a good amount of parking but depending on the time, it fills up quickly and can feel tight trying to maneuver your way through and find a spot. Ambiance: Cafe 86 is a, they specialize in coffee and matcha and truly have an expansive menu featuring lots of delicious ube variations. There is a good amount of seating in the cafe, from normal tables to a couch to lounge on. The interior of the cafe is lined with brick and the warm lighting casts a soft cozy feeling. There is ample space to sit and enjoy your drink. I'd even say it's a good spot to study as it is spacious and does not get too loud. Drinks/food: We've tried the Iced Ube Matcha latte, Iced sea salt latte, Iced Ube Latte, as well as the Ube truffles. I love the ube flavor and it pairs perfectly with their matcha. They don't use the highest quality matcha but the ube flavor carries and still provides a nice tasty drink. The iced coffee was good, a little too sweet and kind of just an average latte, nothing to write home about. The ube truffles are something sweet that hit the spot if you have that sweet ube craving. They are soft and chewy and just the perfect bite. I am definitely biased in general because I really like ube so if you aren't the biggest fan you may not like it Overall this place does make their drinks on the sweeter side so going half sweet is smart if you don't want a blast of sugar. Service: Everyone thus far has been extremely friendly and welcoming! Overall: Cafe 86 is a solid spot if you are in the mood and have a craving for sweet, ube forward drinks and sweets. The menu is fun and unique, especially for anyone who enjoys ube flavors. The cafe itself offers a comfortable, inviting space that works well for hanging out or getting some work done. While the drinks can run on the sweeter side and some of the drinks are just average, the overall experience is still enjoyable. The friendly service and relaxed atmosphere is a calm choice for a new casual cafe stop, particularly if you are there for their ube specialties.
