*Updated review 12 years and 2 kids later* I used to come here over a decade ago when this place was 24 hours or closed extremely late (I can't remember. Probably faded at the time) and we would come in after clubbing or attending rap battles a few stores down at the record shop. Now Crave has turned into my 6 year olds favorite breakfast spot before dropping him off at school (wow have times changed!). It's located a few blocks from his school so we stop in a little after they open and I let him go crazy on the menu and order whatever he wants. Every time time we arrive, the lady who takes our order is so patient with my son as he tries to figure out what he wants and she asked him normal questions about his order and I just get a kick out of their interactions. The place is usually empty and very clean. They are actually still cleaning up a few things when we arrive, while setting up a few things on the patio. We enjoy sitting on their comfy couches in the corner and if it's nice outside, the patio is a great option (although you are on the corner of Van Nuys Blvd and Ventura Blvd intersection during traffic so there is a lot of honking going on). The food is still great and we've ordered a lot of items on the menu. We've had everything from breakfast burritos, French toast, salmon, to fish tacos, and yogurt parfaits. We honestly haven't had a bad meal yet. They also make smoothies which I haven't had the chance to try yet and it seems like they can honestly make anything you ask them for. They have an assortment of pastries, cookies, and cakes and they have a wide variety of drinks such as smoothies, Italian sodas, milkshakes, boba coffee and tea. Don't even get me started on their lunch options. This is a great place to come to if you have come with a small or large group of people and you need a variety of options to please everyone. Terrible service. I came to ask a question and the barista yelled at me telling me to wait - it was very aggressive. After he realized it came off as rude, he apologized and proceeded to make us wait for a good 10 minutes to place a simple order. No acknowledgement. We left after they continued to ignore us. I stopped by here this morning to pick up crepes for my wife. I placed my order online and put in the notes to put the Nutella and powder sugar on the side. If you never been here then just know it's street parking only. I always park across the street in a plaza with other stores and then just walk to this place. There are other parking garage nearby but I don't know if you have to pay now to park there. I arrived early and checked in with the lady at the counter. She said they were still working on it but it will be ready soon. Make sure to check your food is made the way you request it before you leave because I didn't and when I got home, I saw the Nutella and powder sugar was not on the side. It's not the end of the world but I would've hope they made it in the way i requested it because my wife doesn't like a lot of toppings on it. Let me start off with the cons & then finish off with the pros. It is always overly crowded & the parking situation is not great here, you have to find some on the street. Also some of the food that they have here is not as good as it should be & yes, it is quite overpriced. Now for the good stuff: My boyfriend got the California burger with avocado added and it was so good. It tasted as good as an In-N-Out Burger, but with a much larger portion size. The fries were also fantastic & crispy. Everything came out nice and hot. My club sandwich was on the dry side, but it was still enjoyable. I would definitely not have toasted the bread as much as they did and I would've used sliced cheese instead of the shredded kind. The desserts here are also out of this world. They are super decadent and moist just the way I love it. They also have these spectacular Nutella filled crêpes. I would honestly come here just to get a dozen desserts and a drink to go. Also service wise, it wasn't very friendly. I think the staff was just overwhelmed and nobody smiled once I imagine it's a rather thankless job to work behind that counter. We generally have had a very good experience with this restaurant, particularly Crave Sushi. Crave Cafe does very good burgers and Paninis. Unfortunately, we made the mistake of ordering the Beef Fajitas from their takeout/delivery menu. They should call the dish Red and Green Pepper Fajitas, because it hardly had any beef and the beef that was in the dish was cut up into 1/4 to 1/3 inch chunks. This wasn't Beef Fajitas. It was Beef Tacos or a Beef Burrito. We also ordered Birria tacos, but got a call from the restaurant saying they were out of Birria. So we substituted with chicken. At least the chicken in the tacos was in 1/2 inch chunks and more meaty than the Fajitas. I've attached the Beef Fajitas photo from their website, which shows strips of beef, garnished with peppers and onions. It looks nothing like the dish we received, which was no meat buried in green and red peppers. I'm aware there's no truth in advertising. But, we paid $17.50 for Fajitas that looked like something you'd get at Taco Bell. Please improve this item or remove it from your menu. Thanks. read more

As a result, I could only indulge in a cup of Americano (which was superbly brewed and strong). You order at the counter, then pay, they provide you a table holder with a number, you choose the table you desire and they bring the order to your seating area. The menu is vast and filled with both breakfast, lunch and dinner selections. Impressive that they are open till 2 am. There is both inside and outside seating. When you walk in, several cakes and pastries are staring at you when you order by the order at the counter. You will need strong will power or else you will be seduced. Service was prompt. Definitely worth another visit, so that I can order more from their extensive menu. read more

I've never left a review, but I had a bad experience here. Nothing crazy, just enough to make me not want to come back. I ordered a medium iced green tea and they charged me for/gave me a large matcha latte. Then an employee told me that that was just what I ordered. I kind of had to fight to convince them? They took it back and poured me a new tea, but didn't refund the drink that was double the price of the one I ordered, or try to make it right. It was just a downer after spending like $30 on a very thin bagel with cream cheese and two cups of iced tea that had no ice. Even if it was only like $3 I lost, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that no one cared to give me my money back or at least try to make it right somehow. I have to say that Crave is kind of a perfect place for me. No frills, laid back, exposed brick walls. You walk up and order, I recommend looking at the menu ahead of time if possible because the menu on the wall is huge. I started with dessert because it's my three day weekend. I had a red velvet cookie and a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie which are my two favorite flavors in all cookiedom. For my meal I went with the Crave smash burger and dipping fries. The burger had a great flavor and the dipping fries I can only compare to huge Fritos scoops. They come with ranch but they would be perfect covered with chili and cheese. My wife went with a chicken pesto pizza on wheat crust. The wheat crust had a great chew and she enjoyed it. We will be back and I have my eye in a big red velvet cupcake!! As with many things that blowup and catch on, things suffer, go missing from them, and without sounding pompous... the art's gone out of the crepe all together in this city. Undercooked for the most part and touched by our Americanisms launched like shrapnel exploding on to these crepe's. They are oozing, stuffed, and dropped all over the top of the crepe is SUGAR, and some SUGAR, AND then MORE and DIFFERENT forms of natural SUGAR so we can feel a lil good about ourselves eating sugar with fruit-sugar. The crepe is literally drowning and undercooked. Not just "Crave" by any means but when I ordered their honey and walnut crepe, what I rcvd' was a ton of melted chocolate (didn't order that fyi) with entire WHOLE walnuts all over the place- and somewhere underneath that.... was a very exhausted, malnutrition, ignored and over looked Crepe' that never stood a chance. The latte was GOOD though! 2 "crepes" and a latte = $47.00 US Dollars. Now I feel like the crepe: very exhausted, malnutrition, ignored and over looked. Came here last night with my friend around 10-11pm. We ordered a few items on the menu. I ordered the smash burger with fries and root beer float. My friend ordered the club sandwich with chips and hot chocolate. I really enjoyed the flavor of the smash burger and the fries were amazing my friend also enjoyed them. I didn't like that much the root beer float it could've been better. My friend enjoyed the club sandwich with chicken and chips were seasoned just right. The server an older gentleman was really attentive with us making sure we were doing good. My friend enjoyed how the it was split in half the restaurant one being the cafe the other being the sushi bar. They also had a live camera you can upload a video so people could see. This was my first trip to Crave cafe in probably ten years and it was similar to how I remembered it, just a tad bit more expensive but I'll blame that on inflation. All of their crepes are about $14-$17. I like that they have other things on the menu such as breakfast burritos, pizza, sushi, and more. Definitely a lot of things on the menu to choose from. The ambiance is nice with having both indoor and outdoor seating options. They tend to get very busy and only have one person at the counter so the service can be a bit slow. They do have a sign listed that you'll be waiting about 20 minutes for food on their busier days, so plan ahead for that. Located on the corner of Ventura Blvd & Van Nuys. Street metered parking.
