One star off because you do have to get a key to go to a bathroom that is outside, but I lucked out and one of their extremely personable employees happened to be walking out on their break and let me in with a key. i ordered the crispy chicken taco plate, two tacos with rice and beans (i chose refried but they offer whole as well) i also ordered a potato crispy taco on the side. I AM SO FULL! they're not skimpy when it comes to portions the chicken tacos were stuffed as well as the potato taco. this food was so delicious, definitely comfort food. i can't wait to go try their chilaquiles! Food was not bad at all. Hard to go out for "Mexican food when you can hustle make it at home. But to my surprise I liked the enchilada and the sauce under the ribeye. Not a fan on the large amount of cream that I didn't touch and the avocado over my ribeye but it was good either way. Good guac. Ribeye wasn't bad. Was cooked medium just hard to cut with the plastic utensils. The service was ok. It was busy and make sure you order what you're going to eat off the bat because if you go back for anything else you're getting it by the time you're done eating. The service is good. The food is ok. The ambiance is nice. Not loud, but not super quiet neither. The food here is only ok. It needs the salsa to make it taste better, but still only ok. I prefer to eat at Las Fuentes because they have richer, more developed flavors in their food. I think Melody's is like the fast food version of Las Fuentes, it's meant to be a quick place to grab a quick bite, but you get a much better burrito at Las Fuentes for nearly the same price. I used their online order for pickup. The website was really easy to navigate. I paid for it in advance, with my credit card. They sent me an email, letting me know that it was ready for pick up. It was waiting for me to pick up on the counter when I got there, and I got some extra salsas from their fresh salsa bar, which were excellent! I had the carnne asada wet burrito that was unbelievably great! It really had a fresh grilled taste for the meat, & I feel like at a lot of Mexican restaurants, the carne asada just tastes like hamburger, or possibly a really low quality, unflavored steak, BUT this one was Unbelievable, it was so FRESH, and really, really GREAT! I decided to place an order on DoorDash. I was craving the chicken taquito bites. It's a good size with guacamole & sour cream. I received them within 30 minutes and they were still hot and crunchy. They added fresh salsa. Great customer service when ordering for delivery. Their food is delicious! Usually go there for lunch, this time it was a guy taking my order who was angry and in a rush as someone who is not happy with their job.. asked him to do light beans and add a little rice instead which was difficult for him to comprehend. Great food just like my friends mothers make. Burritos are big enough to share, I order mine wet. Their chicken soup is always good and I have gotten it when I was sick (it's like matzah ball soup is Jewish Penicillin) it's Mexican Penicillin. During the holidays they have different types of Tamales that are wonderfully delicious and don't forget the tacos just order one of every thing! The service is very good the staff is great they are always helpful and pleasant. I've been hearing good things about this restaurant from multiple friends and finally had the opportunity to come today with a valley local. Melody's definitely seems to have a positive reputation in the valley and they also own more then one Mexican restaurant in this part of town. We came early enough on a weekday that we were able to find a parking spot within their small little parking lot to the side of the restaurant. This was a plus that they did have their own parking spaces, always grateful for a little bonus like this when in the valley. Parking can be limited but they seemed to have enough people coming and going that spots opened up. The restaurant stand itself is cute, very throw back 90's vibe in a good way. They have a cute outdoor patio that you have to walk through to get inside of the restaurant. Once inside there are a good amount of tables and you order at a register under a large wall of the menu. The menu here is pretty classic, they've got all of the tacos, burritos, and other such items that your heart could desire. Prices overall were pretty reasonable. A filling meal for two was under $35. It just depends what you get. Service was very causal and nice. The gentlemen taking my order at the counter was helpful and a sweet gal brought out our food to us once it was ready. So I did like that when you choose to eat in you don't have to wait for your name to be called, as they'll give you a number card and bring the food to you. The food was no frills classic Mexican food. Palatable for locals and all kinds of people. Just good food and hefty portions. I liked my food overall but there were some bites on the dish better then others. The favorites to me were the cheese enchiladas and and refried beans. I like that their "red" enchilada sauce is more orange, has a beautiful yet mild flavor. Really good and I'd totally get these again. I'm also just a sucker for good refried beans and they are 5/5 here. Would probably double up on beans instead of rice next time. The rice was a little "meh" for me. More yellow then traditional orange rice and the flavors were too mild for me. I can make better Mexican rice so that should kind of tell you something lol. Also my Jamaica drink was a bit overly concentrated, needed a little more water to it as it was less refreshing being so tart and overpowering. I had hoped for a Margarita but they don't have a traditional margarita menu here, the server called it a "frozen wine margarita" so I passed. Not up my alley. All in all some misses but also some really stellar bites! If you are in the valley this spot definitely hits the spot for Mexican food at a restaurant with cute interior and friendly staff. They know what they are doing here and it keeps the locals coming back, that's for sure. Id happily revisit this spot for enchiladas and beans, hopefully you'll give this valley staple a try next time your around. read more

Since Senor Sol's untimely demise we have been wandering the San Fernando Valley for good Mexican food. Just to amuse myself I drove by Las Fuentes on Vanowen to see if there were any spots open. Can you guess? So back to Melody's, our old fav. We split a Carne Asada Burrito, mojado style of course and one Crispy Chicken Taco. Both were great, just like I remember. Prices have gone up. I showed the server when I attempted to pick up the tack it was placed in the beans and half the shell remained melted in plate. I'm in a wheelchair and it was tight so I could not roll to the front. But I thought I would get more than " Oh wow that happens" my nurse had the same. So $35 down the drain. The rice and beans were so tiny. I left as hungry cause no rice and beans. Usually they give a few chips on plate. No more. Definitely horrible new owners. So DISAPPOINTED. AND I SHOWED THEM THEY DID NOTHING. Heard they started serving breakfast again and had to check it out! If you've visited their sister location Las Fuentes you'll know that the menu is practically the same. The food is delicious however the salsas they offer are different but yummy nonetheless. We got huevos con machaca, carne asada y huevos and chorizo con huevos. Coffee was delicious as well and despite them being busy the staff was super on top of making sure we got refills. My only complaint is that the music was quite loud and with there being a rush people had to talk really loud. read more

This restaurant is small but packs a punch with taste. The food is so good always fresh and very flavorful. There breakfast are so good and big portions with the right price. I ordered the nopales with eggs and they came with a big portion of chilaquiles. The chips are so good to. The best salsa is their molcajete salsa roja nice spicy level.
