First of all... I've been seeing this place for the last few years and not having experienced Peruvian food, I finally decided to give it a try. Ordered Lomo saltado... nothing extraordinary about. If only the beef is of better quality and not overcooked, maybe the dish would've been good. Not too mention it's overpriced... being charged $22 for it with just a few strips of meat, lots of onion, French fries and a cup of rice... plus mediocre taste is definitely not worth it. Yes, Peruvian Cuisine was on the lunch agenda and I ended up at El Incomparable in Reseda. The eatery sits in a crowded strip mall, with a small but inviting dining space. There is Peruvian music playing and you are immediately immersed into their decor, wall hangings and the wonderful fragrance from their adjoining kitchen. There is a good size menu that contained not only the local favorites, but also Chinese and Italian concoctions, reminiscent of the influence of both Asian and European immigrants in Peru. I needed time to ponder as to what my choices would be. My original plan was to dine on the attractive picturesque appetizers on the menu. But then, my eyes caught the lunch specials and I selected the Pescado Frito. For some reason, my server Mary seemed surprised and became indifferent when I ordered this dish (should I have selected a more expensive entree instead, I wondered). The fried fish special came with Wonton Soup (the soup of the day). Apart from wonton skins and chicken,there were also thin noodles in a rich and flavorful chicken broth. The entree had perfectly fried small fish fillet pieces and similarly well done potatoes (I could have just had these), rice and thinly julienned red onions with lime. Every component was fantastic. The fish was bland, but flaky, tender, thinly portioned and optimally breaded, but still tasty. I could not finish it all, so had to ask for carry out containers. I love Peruvian food, Saltado Mariscos is my favorite, and one of my all time favorite dishes. This place does it extremely well, not just the fresh seafood with nice size shrimp, the sauce is impeccable, those fries!!!! Of all the Saltado I've had, these might be the ones with the best fries! The lomo saltado was very good and the meat was flavorful. My boyfriend ordered the lomo montado and he enjoyed it as well. We ordered ceviche de pescado for lunch and it was tasty! I got the spicy one and it was spicy enough where you can still enjoy the food, some might say it wouldn't be considered spicy but I liked it. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the price. For the two ceviches we paid 40 dollars and we're still hungry. I've been to other Peruvian restaurants where the ceviche was slightly more expensive but the dishes were packed and was full. I feel that for 20 bucks a plate of ceviche they can give us a little more food. I would recommend paying cash too. Cards are accepted but there's a small fee for using it. The lady over the phone was nice when I ordered and was sweet when we picked up. Again, just wish it was more food for the price point. read more

I hate giving bad reviews but I was really disappointed with their food. We ordered lomo Saltado and bisteca al pobre medium rare, and both meats were extremely over cooked. My food looked like someone had ordered it an hour ago. The fries were stale and dry, the beef was dry and hard. And I only had 2 tomatoes when I asked for extra. I can only say the service was quick but this food was not freshly made. Maybe it was a bad night but when ordering steak, the last thing you want is over cooked and dry steak especially when the food was not cheap either ($18 for lomo and $22 for the bisteca)). Brought my grandma here, the food was authentic enough. The place gets filled up, maybe it can seat up to 20, and it would be full. Their sauces are great and service was quick, having to have only person waiting and cooking (i think). I love peruvian chicken, and this one did not disappoint. I took off one star because their lunch specials were inactive and it was a little confusing. Our orders got a little messed up with one of the plates, but its forgivable because he replaced it immediately. Eventually, it was rush hour for lunch and having this location convenient to a lot of other establishments, it got full. The people who dine here are also nice. First time coming here and I love the pollo a las brasas. I drove 20 miles to El Incomparable because a friend of mine recommended on Facebook to try it so I did, I actually loved it and I will come back after quarantine to sit down there with my husband to try Saltado which it looks so delicious as well. I also ordered a lemonade which I loved too ask for some sugar in. My combo came with beans and they were so good not crazy about the French fries tho they are too big and saggy for my taste. I got the pollo a lo pobre comes chicken, fried egg, fried potatoes, fried plantains and white rice. Chicken is juicy and full of flavor. Potatoes come without seasoning just use the delicious sauces they offer. Plantains are fried nicely and very sweet My dad got pescado frito, fish was fried nicely and had great flavor, he loved the green hot sauce, great tasting good and great quality. Every Peruvian place has its own taste. Same dishes, but they always have a slightly different flavor. This place is pretty good. The flavor is bold and I prefer the camarón (shrimp) saltado to the traditional Lomo (steak) saltado. Both dishes are solid though. The green sauce is super delicious, not as spicy as other places. I spread it on bread and on the dish itself. I can't tell what is in it but it's tasty. It's either cilantro or parsley or both? Either way yummy. The restaurant usually sell alfajores. Super good delicate cookies with a dulce the leche middle(like a better version of caramel) if you spot them get some. You'll thank me later. read more

The place was highly recommended, but unfortunately it was a big disappointment. The lomo saltado was had only two or three little pieces of meat, it was mostly onions and potatoes, no flavor. Shrimp saltado only had 5 shrimps and packed with onions. Ceviche was just ok, I had way better ceviche. When I picked up order I did not get bread, the person helping me said ever since the pandemic we haven't had bread - WTF - it's July 2024, pandemic has been over for a long time. Where do I begin? When I found out that there is a heavy influence of the Chinese in Peru, I was already sold! And the kind owners of this establishment were the ones to enlighten me. Have had a couple traditional dishes here which were amazing. But the main selling dish for my family and I is the Arroyo Chaufa. How moist yet not soggy texture of the ride along w the flavors within the rice is indescribable. And to add the cherry on top, you MUST have this with the special yellow sauce they have. Again, I was trying to decipher what the sauce consists of but can't pinpoint it whether it's mayonnaise or mustard based. MUST have with the fried rice. I usually need 2 togo cups of sauce for each serving. We've loved this dish and place so much that we have designated Tuesday as Peruvian Fried Rice day and look forward to it every week!
