Lady was friendly and smiling. Big colorful murals on the wall from Machu Picchu and other Peruvian handicrafts decor. I went for Tallarin Saltado and it's was the best! Would definitely recommend this place. The lady also gave us some buns and butter.

I been in the hunt for Peruvian food, since the fall of one of my favorites Marios in melrose. I found this place in the city of Van Nuys The classic bollos with ají it's just warming! I got to try their lomo saltado, bistec a lo pobre, some of their Chinese Peruvian menu everything was amazing i would definitely drive that 45 min again Service it's great, they treat you like if they know you, that always great, ambience it very familiar

Parking for Machu Picchu was fairly easy on the street, and if you come after 6pm, you may even find free street parking! The inside was fairly quiet for a Wednesday evening, but the food did not disappoint! The staff were also extremely patient, since my friend and I weren't active speakers of Spanish. They started us with some bread and salsa; the salsa was new to me, but that green one slapped! We with the Papas a la Huancaina, and it exceeded my originally low expectations. (It's potatoes and cheese, a little hard to get excited over.) The potatoes were boiled to softness, and the cheese sauce, what's their secret? It was not super salty and packed quite a nice kick. If nachos were paired with these, the entire party bag will be gone! For dinner, I felt adventurous and had their Bistec a la Chorrillana. Everything was perfect as could be; the beef was juicy, tomatoes sweet, onions crisp - even the rice was fully finished! I looked over at my friend's Lomo Saltado... gone! The restaurant overall doesn't boast a large staff, but it's clear how attentive they are to all guests regardless of background. Paying may take a bit, so I recommend walking it up if in a rush. Overall a nice spot for a sit-down meal - will definitely be returning!

I was skeptical about this place at first as it was empty upon entering. I was offered some tea, that was too slimy for my liking. I also had the lomo saltado which was good, I've had better but again wasn't bad at all. The aguadito de pollo was really good though. Service was good, as the waiter was very attentive (probably because we were the only ones to serve lol). Not sure if this is a place I'd return to right away, maybe if I'm in the mood for some aguadito de pollo.

I love trying new places around my neighborhood. This place did not disappoint. Food was amazing. Service was ok. She wasn't rude or anything but she didn't check in nor did he refill our cups with waters. I got the machu pichu Salgado and it was a 10/10. Would come again forsure.

This is by far my fav Peruvian restaurant! They make the best chicken chaufa with amazing wok char- this is my fav fried rice and it tops all the Asian places I've tried. We come here often and love everything we've tried, from the steak plate to the tamale, and the fried platter and ceviche. Make sure to get the onions! Service is friendly and it's a cozy simple environment. Metered parking out front and a small lot in the back.

This is my second time coming to this restaurant. I haven't been able to a better Peruvian place other than what I've had in Miami. I bring everyone here to taste my culture!! It's incredible with amazing portions and honest pricing. Delicious and highly recommended!!

The food was very tasty , the ceviche was fresh, and the Chinese noodles were delicious. The service was attentive, and the restaurant was very clean. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely stop by.

This place was so delicious. I ordered ceviche and it was very good. I love the fact that they put a sweet potato in the ceviche very good. The service was very good and a very, just a very quaint little place on Van Nuys Blvd. I highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for ceviche or any other thing on the menu Can't wait to go back

The ordering process was quick and easy, and my food was ready right on time when I arrived. I was in and out with no hassle, which I really appreciated. The tacos were delicious -- the pineapple added the perfect touch of sweetness that balanced so well with the savory flavors. The sauces were also amazing and really brought everything together. Each bite had a great mix of flavor and freshness. If you're looking for a tasty and affordable Taco Tuesday option, this online special is definitely worth it. I'll absolutely be ordering again!

I got a whole chicken with the sides and I decided to try the Peruvian ceviche. The chicken was good, seasoning was there. It was already precut for me so that's was kind. I was really looking forward to the ceviche and it was not good. The lime juice or the leche de Tigre was very bitter, and it just didn't taste good... Something was off about the ceviche, perhaps it spoiled quickly as my drive back home was an hour, i unfortunately had to throw it away because it did not taste edible. Service is quite friendly, and quick. I'd come give it a second try for the ceviche, maybe it was not the freshest batch or my commute was too long but I don't think food spoils that rapidly. Either way I definitely recommend the rotisserie chicken with the sides!

We shared a side of fried plantains. I'm a sucker for a lot of fusion-esque burritos that wrap up traditional cuisine dishes in a flour tortilla. The tortilla usually tastes of higher quality (ALWAYS a highlight) and I was most interested in having a familiar dish spun a little differently. It did not disappoint when it came to the expected flavoring of the veggies and lomo saltado style steak. There was plenty of filling and it sang with the aji verde and orange pepper sauces, but it ultimately was not a revelation. The traditional Lomo Saltado plate was not culinary brilliance either, but it was the favored of the two selections, as it featured the grill in the back of the kitchen more effectively. Anything that is exemplary of mainstay dishes from a regional category is still very special, and this plate will be worth returning for. That, and of course the Inka Cola I've always had to order with my Peruvian plates, where available. This place boasts really good roasted chicken and when you see working men order the la brasa by the basketfull for lunch, you start making conclusions about what an authentic experience at an establishment looks like. So we plan to eat what the regulars do upon the next visit. We weren't burned for starting with the cow though. Guess I had to have my birthday steak one way or another.

My coworker and I decided to phone in our order ahead of our lunch time. We were quoted that it would be ready within 15 minutes. That's speedy service for you. We took our order to go, although the restaurant itself gave off cozy vibes internally. Decorated with flags from different countries. I ordered the "Lomo Saltado" which is a combo of white rice, strips of beef, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and French fries. This combo included an appetizer and I went with the "Papa a La Huancaina" it is Boiled potatoes topped with a creamy, spicy cheese sauce, garnished with olives and hard-boiled eggs. (note mine did not come with olives or hard-boiled eggs) For the Lomo Saltado: I really enjoyed the flavors of the sautéed onions, tomatoes, cilantro and the stripes of beef on top all sitting on french fries, wish it came with a little more meat. The juices that are released from the veggie and beef mix get absorbed by the French fries and so it elevates them, make sure to not let them sit for too long. They offer a larger plate with more meat, FYI. 4/5 very generous portions of white rice served along. For the Papa a La Huancaina: 3/5 the boiled potato went well with the creamy topping sauce. But mine did not come garnished nor a hardboiled egg in it. This is a cold dish-not hot but still delicious and different. overall, a decent peruvian restaurant near by, give them a shot next time you are around the area.

So we went to Chios well the parking lot is very easy to park, it is adjacent to sizzler's restaurant. My friend Laurence chose a chicken tamal, Peruvian style, and fried plantains. My friend Evelyne chose a vegetarian Tallarin, with green fettuccine, and a bowl of vegetables, since she's vegetarian! At first, they had brought her the tallarin with the chicken milanesa, but she returned the order since she's vegetarian, and received the tallarin with vegetables: shereally love it! And personally, I ordered de aguatito de Pescado y mariscos: it is a green colored seafood soup, with peas and rice; it was my first time ordering that and I really liked it although I thought the green broth was a little bit too thin so I ordered a little more rice to put in it! Also, I ordered a tallarin saltado de mariscos to go, for my home. I love their food: it is so delicious and fresh I ll come back here anytime ‼

Despite the middle-of-the-road score, this restaurant has pleasantly fed us on multiple occasions…read moresince 2021. On one such date night, our most recent, Chio's managed to deliver what they usually do - filling Peruvian fare that contributed even more to the confidence that we'll eat here again down the line. We're grateful to have a Peruvian place in the neighborhood (we're lucky enough to be in the middle of the two Van Nuys locations) and the time has come to talk about it. I got the pasta sampler - the Fettuccine Dos Sabores - house made pesto fettucine; a not-quite-Alfredo, Peruvian cheese fettucine, both topped with steak and grated parmesan. I'd be remiss not to mention the au jus that made the creaminess of both pastas shine. The result was a savory steak and pasta dish that almost ate like a cheesy stew - which worked. I had enough of the cheese sauce in my beard to attest to the positive experience. And the spouse got Tacu Tacu a Lo Pobre, Chio's crunchy rice plate. It was alluring because the crunchy rice included beans in its makeup. Of course, served with grilled steak, a fried egg and fried plantains. The spouse observed the menu and Yelp pictures, and she thought it looked as advertised. She just wasn't sure if the rice and beans were supposed to be crunchier. She would have appreciated more of a bite in that direction. Sometimes, the good places don't need to be four and five stars to be gems. The ones that are alright, that you don't mind coming back to, to have at your faves or try something new, the continued patronage says it all. Looking forward to having us another meal at Chio's soon enough.
