This is the 3rd time we've ordered for pickup. I always order it medium and this is how it comes, extra well done. I ordered 2 of these and they are $25 each! No bueno

TLDR: Beware of the convenience fee! Maybe it was from card, but it was not communicated. The fettucine dos sabores is popular, but it was not tasty. Maybe it was an off night, or maybe it wasn't for me. - - - - - - I visited Chios upon recommendation, and it caught my eye because it was Peruvian. I had Peruvian once, and it was a remarkable experienced. A friend mentioned the Lomo Saltado, but I ordered the Fettucine Dos Sabores at the remark that the beef was the same as the Lomo Saltado by the staff. Dinner started with complimentary breadsticks and a spicy salsa dip. The breadsticks were okay, but that dip really hit the spot! A better pairing might have been with tortilla chips. After this, I was excited to try the Fettucine Dos Sabores from those Yelp photos, as it looked tasty. Unfortunately, the Fettucine Dos Sabores was not too tasty, and I regrettably label it as the no sabores. Both sides were lightly flavored, and it felt like eating pasta with thick, watered down sauce. I'm not too sure what that green sauce was, but it had a nutty taste, possibly an attempt at pesto. The yellow sauce tasted like nacho cheese blended with tortilla chips... It was not the tastiest combo. The fettucine can comfortably feed two, but after ordering it once, I can't say that I will be bringing a friend or coming on a date for this. The staff were friendly and but on the slower end. There was also no mention of a "convenience fee," and the total was ~$35 after tax and tip.

I ordered for an Easter meal on that Sunday. I ordered: OCTOPUS $42.50 PULPO A LA PARILLA BEEF TENDERLOIN ($28.79) (CHURRASCO A LA PARILLA) SEAFOOD RISOTTO ($24.99) (ARROZ CON MARISCOS) Everything was to DIE for! Everything so tender and juicy! The beef tenderloin knocked me out of my seat! I ended ordering there again a few days later because that's how much I loved this dish!

A shrimp served with the "jalea" dish.

A restaurant shouldn't serve shrimp with the vein (digestive tract) because it can contain grit, waste, fecal matter and bacteria, making the shrimp taste bitter and look unappetizing--reflecting poor attention to cleanliness and quality.

So this location is little slow and parking is not the best with only a few spots but the food is still delicious. Order the lomo saltado or mar y tierra. You get full off all the fries and rice. When the sauce soaks up the rice, oh man it's good. They give free warm bread as the appetizer. The green sauce has a kick so beware.

This is probably the best Peruvian place I have tried They have a few locations and I have been going to the Van Nuys one The service is excellent, and the prices are really reasonable I usually get the roasted chicken and also the seafood soup So fresh and so delicious Give it a try, you wanna regret it

My go to ceviche spot in the valley !!! I love the Copa as it has such a special flavor and makes the ceviche unique. Chios is a staple for peruvian food in the valley, the service is always great. Im a regular and highly recommend

Chio's was a good experience! I had lunch with a friend. The fish ceviche was fresh, the green spaghetti packed with flavor, the Anticuchos very tasty and the Lomo Saltado was really good. The service was attentive, but the atmosphere, while okay, could use some improvement.

Was needing to treat myself and seafood was what I needed. I got there late but was greeted warmly and seated quickly. A seafood combo platter was so scrumptious. Tends octopus, calamari, shrimp, muscles, potatoes and all covered in savory sauce. The best!

We go to Chio's when we want some pulpo (octopus) and their Peruvian meat dishes (lamb and steak). This is our first time in this branch since the nearest one closed (Tarzana). Also went to their other Van Nuys branch before but this spot is less hectic and it was quiet for a Friday night - not sure if it's because we got there before 8pm. First thing - very limited parking - you'll have to snag a spot on the street. There's indoor and outdoor dining. We sat indoor and ordered calamari, pulpo, steak with fries and fried rice with beef. For drinks we got some inka sodas, chicha morada and Maracuya... not sure which one is the purple drink but I prefer the passion fruit one. So we keep going back here when we're craving octopus. I cook different dishes and whenever I go to a restaurant I always tend to order food that I won't cook myself. Octopus is one of those so it's always expensive when you order octopus in a restaurant but I don't mind the price if it's tender and flavorful. Underneath the octopus are some corn, potatoes, shrimps and squid. The sauces - love the green one - I think it's chimichurri. Speaking of green sauces - the one they include with the hot bread is good too. Love it when you get warm fresh bread. We recommended to my son to get the other beef dish that has sauce but he opted for the one pictured below. It looked dry to me but my son said it was very tasty. He cooks and seasons well when he does so I'll take his word for it. We saw a heaping serving of calamari ordered by another diner so we ordered one too. I would say for the price they have bigger serving for the calamari. The mains we've ordered here are about $20-$35+ but can be for sharing. We tend to not experiment with food so when we know what we liked - we tend to go back and order the same thing. Eating out is not cheap these days so why risk ordering something you don't really want. Location is not the best so we will probably go back and check out the new Tarzana location since that's closer. I

Back to the deli counter - they recommended I try the smoked sea bass since they don't get it in often so I took some of that and a smoked salmon collar. The hand roll bar was empty since it was late in the afternoon but too early for dinner. I promised the sushi chef there that I would return. So I went back today with a couple of friends. We sat at that hand roll bar and had the best hand rolls I've ever had. We ordered a la carte and I absolutely loved those creations - full of flavor, texture - unique and tantalizing! There were six of us, including two young children, so we intentionally booked an early dinner. Even with a reservation, we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. That wasn't a big deal. The bigger issue was the pace of the meal. We didn't receive our first appetizer until around 6:00 PM, and our entrees didn't arrive until about 6:20 PM. By then, the kids were definitely getting hungry. The good news is that the food was worth the wait. Between the six of us, we sampled everything from seafood and sushi to salads, tacos, vegetables, and desserts. Every dish was a hit. The birthday chocolate cake was a nice touch, and the bread pudding and butter cake were a great way to end the evening. Our server was friendly and did everything possible to make sure we had a good experience. As the restaurant filled up, though, it became obvious they simply didn't have enough staff to keep up with the crowd. We spent about two hours at dinner, and much of that time was waiting for food to arrive. Will we go back? Probably. Next time, though, I'll plan on a leisurely evening rather than a quick dinner, even with an early reservation. I was searching for an elegant dinner spot on yelp and this place popped up. After seeing some pics of the food and the ambience, I quickly made the rezzy and my wife and I were on our way. As you come in, it's like you enter another world -- one of elegance and beauty. You can't help but notice perfect ambient lighting and modern vibes throughout the inside dine-in area and as you enter their huge gorgeous backyard patio, you just know that you're in the right place. The seating area there is massive, with very modern finishes and towards the rear of the patio you have the most beautiful water feature piece, that looks like a human-size vase, with water running down the vase and being met by fire at the base. Just one incredible architectural piece that creates that posh, contemporary ambiance. After taking in the breathtaking design of the spot, we finally sat down and ordered food. We tried the tuna tartare, squash blossoms appetizer and my wife got a seabass entree while I got their highly recommended vodka pasta. All of the food was absolutely incredible, from the freshness of tuna tartare, uniquely wonderful flavor profile of the squash blossoms , to the yummy vodka lumaconi pasta and the most mouth-watering seabass that I've ever tried in my life. I honestly never thought a fish could taste so good. The seabass was charred on the outside and just incredibly soft on the inside. As you barely touch the seabass with the fork, a piece of succulent seabass gets separated simply due to the natural gravity of the fork. The taste is perfect. It's like they somehow cooked it with large piece of butter on the inside. The incredible flavor profile and the consistency of each bite of this seabass, were simply unparalleled. And to add to all this awesomeness, the bed of risotto was perfectly cooked and tasted fantastic as well. To finish off our meal, we decided to share their apple tart pastry and it too, was fresh, flavorful and that scoop of ice cream on top, made the pastry just perfect. This place hits a perfect trifecta, with its phenomenal modern design , incredible food and absolutely superb customer service. Our waiter Zach was extremely nice, helpful, attentive and he was just a perfect guide throughout tonight's culinary adventure. My wife and I are more than satisfied and can't wait to come to Casalena again!

If you like traditional Mexican drinks, these are a must-try. The Food Everything we ordered was packed with flavor and felt incredibly fresh. A standout for us was the homemade corn tortillas--you can really taste the difference! Our table shared: * Mojarra & Pescado al Mojo de Ajo: Perfectly cooked and seasoned. * Lobster Plate: Succulent and generous. * Surf & Turf Tacos: These were a highlight! Loaded with carne asada and creamy guacamole, then topped with perfectly grilled shrimp. Each plate comes with rice, beans, and a side salad, but they are super flexible--we were able to substitute fries for the rice and beans on some plates, which is great for picky eaters or just a change of pace. You throw a birthday in the mix and there's a little pressure to make this the right kind of evening. The vibes were certainly not absent. There was the tastefully low mood lighting, and of course, the tunes of a scattered jazz jam session. We get to our seats and are told the place was designed to heighten and maximize the patrons' listening experience, no matter where they were in the establishment. The menu wasn't overwhelming from a volume standpoint. It screamed a curated adventure through a brand of Americana that knew it had ethnic roots on different continents. That's a cool prospect to dig into but knew we weren't going to order the whole menu. My wife and I were still feeling like we had to get our very first selections right though. More pressure. We started with the Hokkaido Milk Buns (super recommended) and the Wagyu Tartare. I'm such a poor sucker for bakery bun from an Asian grocery store. 99 Ranch has a lot of my money because it. These were perfectly fresh and airy. The sweet butter was a good sidekick, but with the right bread that sits with your soul, you never really need much for it. The tartare did taste as advertised. And more sexy bread in the toast! In this case, the toast was the sweet butter. You didn't need it. You could have spooned the tartare like it was ice cream, but you certainly didn't mind the brioche slices tagging along. There were our mains: Dungeness crab campanelle, and the braised lamb pasta. We went back and forth about ordering a side of roasted carrots, but you only have one specific birthday to start your mid-thirties, so I opted for it. If you've been reading my reviews, you know I don't go out of my way for seafood. I'll have a bite. I'll be as openminded as a foodie should, but it won't be invited to my cookout. I didn't hate it. The miso and aji Amarillo peppers gave this a really familiar tuna casserole profile. My wife asked me not to tell anyone that. But it brought me back to my childhood, where even then, I was not crazy about seafood, but I was mature in my thinking enough to know the casserole was going to feed me. If you observed us that night, I might've snuck a couple of forked noodles to taste the roasted almonds and some of the uni residue with the cheesy tones. The braised lamb pasta was the richest, fullest flavor I've had for pasta in a while. The lamb was abundant and savory and lean, providing such a serious punch when supported by the padano. It was a smidge creamy, and greasy - optimally speaking. It had such a dark and cheesy-bitter personality. The charred green onions probably were in the mix more than I anticipated. Roasted root vegetables are just very satisfying potatoes, at the end of the day. The carrots ate more like fun, herbaceous fries, showered in a vinegar concoction. Loved it. The chumichurri and togarashi spices aligned for a peppery bite. The vinegar did give the carrots a pickled skin so it was helpful for cutting through the brightness of the crab campanelle and the boldness of the braised lamb. Verse took the pressure on the night and gave us food baby diamonds. I'd say we're encouraged to check out more of the supper club scene after our visit. If the bar was set at any place, it was for the sensibility of how the music pairs with the food. The strings and the particular pitter-pat on the drums kept us going. It kept us talking. It kept us eating.
